Unexpectedly, CMS's chief technology officer is "retiring" before healthcare.gov is scheduled to be back up ... or just up ... whatever

Miss Marple

All I know is Megyn Kelly is laying out the case against Obama like a prosecutor.
Tonight she had on the cancer survivor who lost her doctors when her policy was cancelled (and who Pfeiffer attacked on Twitter) and an insurance liaison guy who said that it makes no sense to blame insurance companies, as who thinks they would cancel the policies of millions of healthy people all in one month unless the law forced them to!

The insurance guy also pointed out that the administration knew people were going to lose their policies because the insurance companies notified them of that during the comments period.

"I miss Buckley and wonder what he would make of this."

He left us some hints. I particularly liked "He's conservative but not a conservative." and giving Giuliani the well deserved boot would, IMO, pertain to Christie today.

This concludes my baiting of Danube.

Whatever happens next will not bother me. I am finally no longer sad that he chose to throw our young friendship away with the disgusting name calling that took place not so long ago.

I do not need to prove anything to a race hustler.

"This concludes my baiting of Danube."

Concluded without ever answering the one devastating, humiliating question. Small wonder.

Ignatz

Can you two really not finding something better to do, for Pete's sake?

narciso

An interesting flashback, Rick, there is an ironic bit, re Buchanan's part in the race.

Miss Marple

Ann Coulter is now snarking about her former darling, Christie.

Why Hannity has her on his show I do not know.

Miss Marple

Fewer than 100 people at Obama's Dallas appearance, according to Twitter. And NO young people!

jimmyk

Blaming the insurance companies somehow puts me in mind of the old definition of chutzpah, the guy who murders his parents and asks the judge for mercy because he's an orphan.

Gus

So is has Christie been nominated yet?

Threadkiller

Look down when you are pissing and you will see a small wonder.

Sorry, Ig.

It is in my nature to punch back.

I am done.

Miss Marple

I am heading to bed.

TK - Tom McClintock recovered fast enough to campaign for Arnold. I am not and was not aware of who it was who "kicked McClintock in the groin." He is a very fine man and CA does not deserve him. I would trust him with the country and be proud to call him my president.

Time to count my blessings...for one, I do not have a goiter.

Gus

Hello Ignatz, good to see you.

Ignatz

A great song to go to sleep to and maybe inspire some lovely dreams.

Narciso,

The interview was after Bush had shown McCain the wonder of Northeastern money applied with a sledge hammer in South Carolina. I've often thought the selection of Palin to have been giving the finger to the Northeastern GOP establishment which McCain despised for not acknowledging his obviously magnificent talent.

boris

"without ever answering the one devastating, humiliating question"

It's a dumb question. Pretty much the answer to any such question "why would Obama do X?" ... cuz he's bad.

Frau Fott domet

Iggy @ 10:14 - Thank you.

Frau Fott domet

heh...Dallas doesn't do Obama.

Hi, Gus.
You're welcome, Frau.
Good night, everyone.

Thank you for the lullaby.
May you always dream of your sweet Honey, Iggy.

"Can you two really not find something better to do, for Pete's sake?"

No. Discrediting Birthers is the highest and best use a man can make of his time. And I am proud to be a consummate expert at the task (which is admittedly child's play.)

Stick with us and show up often, Iggy. Let's argue!

Some Guy

Apologies if someone else posted this:

Sue

I really understand bittersweet listening to your lullaby, Iggy.

jimmyk

SG, is that for real? Amazing. It's not even grammatically correct.

Some Guy

Yes it's real. Until they figure out it's still there.

Danube on iPad

It seems certain to me that this whole thing is absolutely certain to collapse in a breathtakingly catastrophic fashion. I can't see any way that such a result can be avoided. Am I wrong? This thing seems to have the potential to put the Dems on the outside the way the great Depression did to the GOP.

Gus

Is it so difficult to be kind and decent to Ignatz at this time?? Who the HELL would be so insensitive to be a TROLL now?

jimmyk

McArdle's column seems like a pretty good birds-eye take on the whole 404Care debacle:

http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2013-11-05/obamacare-shouldn-t-have-been-managed-like-a-campaign.html

I liked this comment:

Obama meant to say: "If I like your plan, you can keep your plan."

What's the big fuss over a pronoun?

Gus

Jimmy, Obama is such a SOCIOPATH, that he doesn't believe that his own words can be used to prove his dishonesty. Obama is such a NARCISSIST, that he doesn't believe that ANYTHING HE SAYS.........CAN EVER BE WRONG.
Obama is a mentally ill mo-fo.

Gus

Jimmy, Those of us who are bright, wise and Conservative, have long understood and realized that Obama is a LYING PILE OF SHIT. We've recognized that for 10 years. Obama ran his candy assed mouth and is now being called on it.
What do you EXPECT a Communist to do, when the truth is put directly in front of his face???
Being a COMMUNIST means never having to face REALITY.

naem withhled

Is there really anything stopping 0 from delaying the employer mandate until after next years election?

Gus

The SECRETARY shall decide "naem withhled". Never has a piece of legislation been approved, before it was written, or without FINITE Provisions. The GOP has ALLOWED this.

anonamom

Gus, I don't understand "the GOP has allowed this."
Not one Republican voted for it.
They closed down 17% of the federal government over it.
What more can they do?

The MEDIA has allowed it---all this was known---and that story seems to me to be what we're not getting now.

I knew that people would lose their coverage, that costs would skyrocket, before it was passed---why didn't they?

(Rhetorical question---of course I know that they either didn't bother to know, or chose not to report it.)

peter

anonamom, apparently, Ted Cruz speaking out against Obamacare frightened the hamsters that run inside the website's servers. that's the only way this latest meme makes sense.

jimmyk,

The McArdle piece was OK but she does not explore the complete impact of the stupidity of His Pignorance on the implementation process. BOzo truly believes assembling a group of butt kissers of marginal to unproven competence around a conference table and getting them to nod in unison is all the management necessary to put wings on his unicorn.

It's not that he doesn't know what he doesn't know, it's that he will never understand that he can't know due to inherent intellectual limitations which have been masked by meritless promotion for his entire life.

Jeff Dobbs

Knew you'd get around to it...

RickB-- 2 things:
1. Insurer Bailout-- as you say, there is no OPM or Debt access to bailout the ExchangeCare insurers from pre-existing sign ups, so I don't know that I agree with the Weekly Standard conclusion, but his timeline of the calamity is spot on IMO;

2. Obummer 'Leadership' in implementation meetings? It is real life 'splunge' time around the conference table.

Mark Levin reminded people last night that Fat Boy could have named Steve Lonegan, or some other Republican, as Lautenberg's replacement giving the Repubs an extra Senator until 2015. Not only did he not do that, he scheduled a special election, costing millions of dollars, so that he would be the spotlight on Tuesday's regular election and burnish his higher aspirations.

Account Deleted

"I can't see any way that such a result can be avoided. Am I wrong?"

DoT,

I can see the political implications of the collapse being mitigated by McCain/Christie/Graham giving BOzo tongue baths chastising the GOP for not getting behind "fixing" the problem.

If the GOP media whores can be kept away from cameras and microphones and silence maintained about "helping", then the political collapse will be as impressive as the program collapse.

Well that's where 'splunge' comes from,

James D.

It's nice the Megan McArdle is seeing now what a disaster Zerocare is. Too bad she didn't see it before she voted for Zero a year ago.

But even with that, it's still clear from everything she writes that she still wants a techoncratic elite running everything, and taking life decisions out of the hands of the rest of us lumpenproles - she just wants more competent technocrats who will do a better job of centrally planning everything.

Old Lurker

TARANTO:

One immediate consequence of ObamaCare has been to multiply the ranks of the imminently uninsured. In addition to most of those who do not have insurance now, they include the millions of victims of the most massive consumer fraud in American history, Barack Obama's fraudulent promise that "if you like your health plan, you can keep it." For them, time is running out.

...

In the likely event that Sebelius's Nov. 30 pledge turns out to be just another vaporware promise, the number of uninsured Americans will start rising on Jan. 1 as the fraud victims' policies begin to expire. Assessment of the mandate tax against those people--and against those who are currently uninsured and unable to comply with the mandate because of the administration's technical incompetence--would be difficult to justify either politically or legally.

But we are fast approaching the point where the question of the mandate is a tangential one. Among those who are left without coverage by the ObamaCare fraud and debacle, some will become seriously ill or injured, and others will be unable to get care for pre-existing conditions. At that point ObamaCare will be not just a technical, political and economic disaster but a humanitarian one as well.

NK(tryin'2.0)

well yes, but '20th Century Vole' requires either a really good memory, or a box collection of all 1960s-70s episodes... or both. Splunge is more widely remembered IMO.

James D.

On a different topic, after thinking about it all night and this morning, I'm even more upset and sickened by the story TK posted last night (the New Mexico man who was repeatedly anally raped by the police because "clenching his butt' was enough cause to suspect him of drug possession).

The more I think about it, the more I see that this really is a Third Reich-level crime. It wasn't just one rogue cop beating up a suspect in an alley.

It was several police, a DA, a judge and several licensed medical personnel, all acting under the authority of the law, and all claiming that procedure and policy was followed. It was the systematic, legally-approved rape of a free citizen, carried out under a judge's order by physicians and nurses, for no reason other than that a police officer didn't like the look of him.

This is evil, full stop. We HUNG people for doing things like this after World War II, but in America, 2013, we pay the salaries - and the legal defense bills - of the people who do it.

How did we get here? And how the hell do we get out of this place and back to somewhere sane?

Old Lurker

Agreed James.

Go see the Drudge report today about another cop who tasered a woman because she would not show him her breasts.

NK,

Which way do the fascist oligarchs running BlueGovIns jump when the dough doesn't flow? Do they throw money behind Commiecrats in an effort to purchase a reliable House or behind the GOP in the hope of a payback in '17? If they throw money behind the Commiecrats, they better prepare for a short ride in a tumbrel because money isn't going to do the trick this time.

NK(tryin'2.0)

The Dollar-- will it strenghthen significantly? GDP growth revised up on business inventory growth, consumer spending still weak. At the same time ECB drops EuroZone rates-- Euro plummets. A stronger Dollar helps consumers by lowering food/fuel prices, hurts exporters. Will Janet "Hobbit" Yellen's first job be to escalate a currency war with the EuroZone?

NK(tryin'2.0)

RickB-- no idea what BigInsurance will do. They have walked into a giant Shite Sandwich that they helped make, and they either have to bite and prepare Chap 11 filings or work like hell to throw the whole thing away. No idea what they'll do.
