Wishing a wonderful Thanksgiving to all

Jane on Ipad hi there NSA

Ditto! Good news! The WH iS having 9 pies.

Jeff Dobbs

Jane:
The WH iS having 9 pies.

"They don't want the whole pie. There are some who do, but most Americans feel blessed just being able to thrive a little bit. The truth is, in order to get things like universal health care, then someone is going to have to give up a piece of their pie so that someone else can have more."

All the best to all of you on this day and every day. Happy Chanukah to all of my Jewish friends!

caro

Happy Thanksgiving to all. This year I am in Fort Collins with lots of family. My niece's husband works for O'Dell Brewery here. We had a tour yesterday. Here at home the garage features the Kegerator where taps are installed on the side. Photos to come when I get home.

Our bar features seven brands of bourbon.

And Happy Hanukah, too.

Threadkiller

Thanks for the kind words CH.

Happy Thanksgiving all!

clarice

Happy Thanksgiving to all and Hanukah for those who celebrate it . The apple cranberry slab pie the wolverine and I worked on is in the oven making wondrous smells and her new puppy, coco, is so smart she got housebroken in all of two days. (I'm sure you're as proud of this as we are.) Smooches.

Ignatz

Take a look at TK's link; LOL funny, sweet and heartbreaking all at the same time.

Happy Thanksgiving to you, TK.

Old Lurker

TK!

Nice to see you.

Frau Erntedankfest

Come out, come out wherever you are, TK!
Happy Thanksgiving, one and all.

Clarice, I'm glad to hear the slab pie is doing well. I once baked a fresh blueberry slab pie the day before I was to depart from our son's house. It looked fab. My departure was delayed for a day and when I checked, the pie had leaked while baking, and there was a good 1/8th layer of blueberry goo that I had to get out with a spatula. Was I embarrassed, but at least I got to clean it up myself.

clarice

I think ours didn't leak, frau..Instead of a top crust we made six sided stars to cover it..very fancy and nice lokking.

DrJ

The hard and soft rolls are done. So are two pumpkin-ish pies. And I just pulled the turkey out of the smoker.

Down the hill in about an hour!

Eric in Boise

I'm thankful for many things, and one of them is this island of sanity and civility on the rough ocean of the net.

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone.

Ignatz

I love a large slab of pie myself, but what exactly is a slab pie?

Captain Hate

We (Mrs H and younger Hatette) got the bird done early and are now just lounging around.

Iggy, Slab pie for a crowd -

Yum - use a big spoon!

Echoing Eric in Boise…

JOM is the best place on the internet. Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

Jeff Dobbs

We did ham this year instead of turkey. I want you to guess the main ingredient in the baste I made. No, it's not a trick question.

Beer.

Turned out really well.

We're done and stuffed. mrs hit and run and I made a dog walk out to the beach. She knows JOM well enough to understand when I yelled out "Kaaayyyrrrooooo!".

Bless her.

Settling in now for the 'Boys.

And more beer.

Bless beer.

Danube on iPad

Three hours shy of bird time in Tiburon. Sunny, 66, cobalt-blue sky. A great day for being thankful.

Have a great one, JOM.

narciso79

That's some good pie, there Clarice, what happened to Packers qualifies as a slattering.

rich@gmu

Happy Thanksgiving and Happy Hanukkah to everyone.

Ignatz

--Iggy, Slab pie for a crowd --

Frau,
I hope that's a long pan or a short crowd cause I could just about polish off what's visible. :)

henry

Narciso, that game proves the NFC North is the most useless available...

clarice

This is the pie we made--I must say ours looks much better.http://www.nytimes.com/recipes/1015423/apple-cranberry-slab-pie-with-ginger-and-rum.html

Moses Fletcher

Sitting here after dinner watching the Boys geeting a possible "slatttering" from the Raiders and waiting to see if the SpaceX launch will go before the 6:44 window closes. Its original launch time was postponed due to a problem.

A little overcast but we will catch the glow if anything else.

Jeff Dobbs

Yeah, 'Boys look ripe to be slattered, but it's a 7 point game.

Beasts of England

Damn you Thai pad!

Beasts of England

Ignatz

The Raiders look to be a good quarterback away from being a pretty decent team.

Of course that's kinda like saying the ChiSox are close to winning the series; when was the last time the Raiders had a good quarterback?
This century?

Moses Fletcher

I qualified it with "possible", you know like Mitt Romney could possibly win in 2012:)

Well, that's a bummer. Missed the launch at 5:38.

Captain Hate

Has anybody considered that the NFL has become a reflection of their worthless commissioner?

The last time the Raidazz had a good QB was when Rich Gannon found the fountain of youth.

rich@gmu

launch scrubbed for the day.

rich@gmu

clarice-

that pie looks and sounds delicious.

21-all now but the 'Pokes will prevail.

clarice

Rich--the whole house smells glorious frombaking it. The wolverine and I decided it will be "memorable".

rich@gmu

doesn't dallas have to find a way to lose?

clarice

rich, the wolverine and I think it will be considered "memorable". It looks and smells like it will be.

Reuters post there was a 5.6 earthquake near the Irani reactor inBusher. A friend on FB says:

Todd Campbell No big deal was over a year ago, and I have this freaky memory thing going on. History is the footings on this reactor were started during atoms for peace under Eisenhower administration. Then reactor vessel was acquired in 70s from Germans. Construction was stopped during revolution. Vessel actually filled with water and rusted. Project was restarted and Russians brought in. They felt old rusted vessel was unsafe (think of that concept) and wanted to start from scratch. Iranians refused and Russians polished away rust and fitted in sideways one of their reactors. Problem is micro stress patterns were formed from rust. Because reactor is not in designed position cooling and emergency work are not possible. Also sits on top of one of largest faults in the work. So when a 7 or above even occurs total reactor vessel breach will occur. Containment dome will be breached because of hydrogen build up and explosion. Also will be a plutonium reactor not uranium. Add TMI/Chernobyl/Fukishima together and you still won't match what is coming.

narciso79

Yes, Clarice, this is exactly where I would put a reactor;

According to Kuwaiti geologist, Dr.Jassem al-Awadi, the plant is located at the junction of three tectonic plates.[40]

rich@gmu

so we'll find out how right Bismark was...

BB Key

Iran placement of the reactor in that location was intentional . If anything goes wrong they can blame it on The Great Satan and Israel .

Wife and I are in London -- her first time. Just too much to do. We pick up our daughter st heathrow tomorrow snd she ll set the agenda until sunday soccer match. Love the tube and rail service-- only one cab ride thus far.

Best to all of you.

Happy Thanksgiving and Happy Hanukkah to all!

I have been home since about 6PM. Cleaned up the kitchen and fed the dogs.

Bought a couple things on line this evening. Some sites have good specials.

Nice Thanksgiving at my brother's house; about 15 relatives (siblings, nieces, nephews, daughter). Good food, good conversation, and NO politics!

narciso79

Ok, as a general rule, should one try not to step on the quarterback,

Jeff Dobbs

NK - is it safe to say your trip will be more London based - and not up near your daughter's university?

My best friend in the neighborhood is from Dundee. If you're up that way his sister and brother in law would, oh, wait, they've been here, I've partied with them, I, um, you should probably keep your daughter away from them at all costs.

Never mind.

Happy Thanksgiving. We use to go to the old Texas Embassy for Thanksgiving because the served BBQ'd Turkey Chili and sweet potato pie.
Don't think it's there any more.

If you go to La Papperdelle for the pre-game lunch Frederick's godfather and friend will be there also. Look for a guy about 53 with curly brown hair and an English accent:)

JiB, not so much as a track in the snow. However, pineapple duck today was excellent.

Now, you might think what happened to the drill bit below

happened when I tried to bore a hole in some particularly hard substance, but you would be wrong. That is the result of revving my drill a bit to check if the bit was centered in the chuck and it twisted itself into a pretzel just from a few free revving rpms.

Lesson; never buy a drill bit from China.

Lights out at 11:22 for JOM? Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. I'm awake grazing on leftovers.

My family discussed Obamacare during the meal yesterday, just as the President requested. What was said about probably wasn't what he had in mind.

Back to pumpkin pie...see y'all when you wake up.

Oh yeah, how about them Cowboys. Woot! Woot!

8 adults, the table full of turkey and all the trimmings and Obamacare never got mentioned.
Now we're watching what is being called the initial black Friday here. Someone has done a real selling job to get all these malls open this early and get crowds into them.

Happy Belated Thanksgiving and first day of Hanukhah!

As Clarice's NYT cranberry slab pie was so well received, I will share the NYT's Creamy Mac and Cheese that I made so the vegetarian girl friend wouldn't starve at my extended family's now 53 year old "Thanksgiving at the hall."
It's a rather animal heavy feast --we had both elk meatballs and a fabulous pheasant roll on the appetizer table, and the dressing has liver, the sauer krout is cooked with a bacon roux and has sausage as well.
I was "requested" to make sure it becomes a regular contribution, even if the girlfriend decides we're too barbaric for her.

We're at DCA,waiting for our flight home.I've been reading the Bangor Daily, catching up on the news. The story that got my attention is from the 27th. SoS John Kerry was in Maine Tuesday. He picked up his yellow lab puppy in Waldo County where the puppy has been for two months being trained by a professional dog trainer.Kerry spent time at the trainer's home and later returned to Bangor in a security detail of five SUVs.How much taxpayer money did that trip cost?
