Percocet--heaven.

The wh will try for deay..The R's should say they offered it once, it was turned down, now it's a no go because the damage has been done and cannot be undone and will only grow. They should refuse to vote for anything but a full repeal and come in with an alternate that they wlll not modify--a national MM plan available across state lines; an expansion of the National Health Service to perform the everyday health care for the poor they used to--vaccinations and well baby checks, Perhaps some subsidy for those willMM pre-existing conditions--i.e., not allergies, but cancer treatment or heart care.

Help.

I heard last week on Hannity's radio show (the weekend replay so I don't know which day it was) some audio of Mark Begich saying his version of "If you like your Doctor you can keep him, if you like your Health care plan etc).

Unfortunately I cannot find any audio of that on the web anywhere, and it is especially frustrating because I have not heard it a single time on any of our local Talk Shows, nor seen it on our Local left TV stations or read it in the paper. It desperately needs to be played nonstop around town, and I think if I could locate it on the web somewhere I could get at least 2 of the local Talk guys to play it on their Talk Shows.

So here's a call for some web digging to find Mark Begich saying "If you like your plan...) At the moment the Press is doing a damn fine job of protecting that "Moderate" scumbucket from his own words.

Thanks in advance for any help.

daddy

So who you gonna' believe, "Moderate" Mark Begich, or the Chief Operating Officer of Enroll Alaska?

Here's the story: Begich says he enrolled via online marketplace

U.S. Sen. Mark Begich said he successfully enrolled Monday in a health insurance plan through the online marketplace open to Alaskans, shirking a congressional benefit...

The first-term Democrat, who has been a supporter of the federal health care law and who faces re-election next year, said he wanted to have the same experience as other Alaskans and felt it was only fair to enroll the way he did.

Begich told The Associated Press that he had no problems completing his enrollment Monday

Sounds good, no?

Begich said he was told by the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services that as of Monday morning, the subsidy calculator for Alaska was working.

Even better!

Except that down in Paragraph number 9 we get this:

Enroll Alaska chief operating officer Tyann Boling said Monday afternoon that she had not yet received confirmation that the issue had been corrected and would not resume enrollments through the site until that confirmation is received.

So the subsidy calculator works great for Alaskans, except that the company that is supposed to use it to sell Begich's ObamaCare to Alaskans says that far as they know it's still broken.

And as a side point, if Begich says that he "felt it was only fair to enroll the way he did, like other Alaskans," then why ain't it fair that every other swinging dick in DC should have to enroll the same damn way also instead of having us foot the Bill for those rotten G@#D@#$ed leeches? Ain't that only fair?

James D.

We are creeping closer and closer to an actual police state not a pretend one.

We're already there. The New Mexico incident with the colonoscopy is proof enough to me. Because it could have been any of us. And because it wasn't just a rogue action. It was official procedure, and it was approved up and down the line, and carried out in a freaking hospital, by licensed doctors and nurses, obeying the orders of police and prosecutors and judges.

It's bad when a police officer out on patrol beats somebody up, or even shoots them, and then the blue wall closes around him in protection. That's still an individual act.

What happened in New Mexico says that our government has the power to order involuntary, invasive, humiliating, potentially dangerous medical procedures on free citizens at the merest suspicion (or whim, really) of a police officer. And that DA's and judges will sign off on it without argument. And medical personnel who are supposedly under a higher oath, will carry out whatever order they're given. And it's all prescribed and protected by law.

I'm serious. How is that different, except in degree (and not even that much of a degree, really) from Nuremberg and "we were just following orders"?

Why isn't this a national outrage? When one private citizen, during an altercation, shot another private citizen and claimed self-defense, it was the biggest story in the country. The President weighed in on it. It's being taught in schools. There were efforts to change laws all across the country. Because two guys got in a fight, and one of them shot the other. It dominated the news for months.

This is the government hauling someone off the streets, and ordering them to be repeatedly anally raped, by doctors, with the approval of police, a DA and a judge. How is this NOT a national scandal?

THAT's what makes America, 2013 a police state, as far as I'm concerned.

I agree with richgmu-- no chance NO CHANCE that Obummer starts enforcing the individual mandate 3/1. No fines/taxes will be collected, no liens, no nothing. They'll just let it all roll on. By 3/1/14 say 2 million seriously ill people sign up for ObummerCare through exchanges, most get taxpayer subsidies, but the ExchangeCare insurers immediately take multi-Billion Dollar loses, and quickly leave the 'markets' as State Insurance depts refuse to give them huge rate hikes to make up the losses, and they announce they won't renew the ExchangeCare policies-- because it will only get worse as more and more sick people sign up. ExchangeCare collapses quickly. What does Obummer do? Obviously he'll call for a bailout or nationalization of ExchangeCare -- how does that play?

Beasts of England

James D.

Just to add on to the New Mexico story. I realize that I'm getting to the point of being reflexively anti-police/prosecutor (and more so every day, I feel like), but I've tried to see some kind of rationale or excuse or explanation for this incident, and I just can't.

I mean, even if the guy was a repeat offender that they could just never nail, but they KNEW he was selling drugs to third graders. Even if he was the biggest a-hole on Earth, and he was sleeping with the wife of the cop (and the DA, too)...there's still no way that any of it should have happened. Isn't that the whole point of having procedures and a hierarchy, to prevent hotheads and street justice? So that someone will step in and say, "No, no matter what he said to you, no matter what he did, you can't do that."

There really is no circumstance in which I can imagine multiple enemas and then a forced colonoscopy would EVER be something that should be done to any citizen. Ever. Not even if they were 100% guilty, with iron-clad proof.

I mean, short of somebody having the microchip with the nuclear launch codes hidden in their butt, I guess, I don't see how that could ever be acceptable.

And I don't see how a DA (who has taken an oath as well, and ought to know the Constitution) or a judge could ever sign off on such a thing. Or how a licensed doctor or nurse would carry it out (and that's the one heartening thing - the doctors at the first hospital who refused to do it, so they had to go to a second hospital).

Am I being naive? I know that some folks here have been in either law enforcement or worked as/with prosecutors. Am I missing something here? IS there a circumstance where this kind of thing would be or should be acceptable? Where it can be standard procedure?

I can't see it, but I am willing to listen to the other side, if there is one, on this.

narciso

Well it's more Gramsci and Alinsky, why would one complain about equitable, unless we're some wretched reactionary in the land of Comrade DeBlasio or Citizen Malloy.

Daniel Bell kindly explained in the 70s that equality is ambiguous and gives the idea that equality of opportunity is enough. Equality before the law is not even thrown out as an alternative meaning.

Equity is intended to evoke the intention to bring about equal outcomes he said.

And Bell's interpretation of Rawls A Theory of Justice makes it quite clear it was a rewrite of the "from each according to his need" theory. Remember that's the stage met after capitalism has created the technology to allow redistribution.

The Chinese, Cubans, and Russians all ignored their Marx. We have plenty of people in the West who have been biding their time but they see the US and Canada and Australia as places where the necessary foundations to try out the theory have been met.

I find it interesting the NYT feels it necessary to issue a primer to Fecesbook pecking droolers on the appropriate response to a Democrat comfort girl (Ms Gottlieb) who has the audacity to publicize reality. Making her a non-person among her Fecesbook "friends" isn't a high enough penalty for her doubleplusungood report of the actual situation, she needed to be excoriated in the comments section of the official party organ as a warning to all Democrat comfort girls to keep their mouths shut (legs are a different matter).

The party has to keep anecdotal reports suppressed until the "official" numbers have received the rehabilitative massage necessary to allow the party to declare success.
