The race for ten million charity miles to be donated by United Airlines is posed for a dramtic finish. With two days left Rotary International has 234,705 votes. Trailing by a mere 29 votes is the Shriners Hospital with 234,676 votes. They will be counting hanging chads at United!
Meanwhile we are pushing Americares, currently in 10th place with 9,779 votes. The ninth spot is held with 10,578 and eighth with 13,666 so moving up a few notches is possible. Vote here, please. But not more than once per day per electronic device.
TM's getting all these threads up and out of the way in anticipation of a skiiing vacation.

Since 1992 the Redskins have made the post season four times. Shanahan had one of those so he's not nearly the disaster that Spurrier, Schottenheimer and Zorn were, just to name three.

Shanahan deserves a lot of blame for this season but the Skins are far from a solid team and a lot of it has been caused by Snyder's meddling with the team in the past. Also, taking a cap hit for deals which were made when the collective bargaining contract expired, all of which were reported to the league office and approved, set them back from building the team with free agents in the past off season.

In the capital, Mr. Obama and congressional Democrats are supporting legislation that would raise the federal minimum wage to $10.10 an hour by 2015. Mr. Obama is planning a series of speeches across the country focused on improving wages for workers, aides said, many of them timed to coincide with key minimum-wage votes in Congress.

A hint that all might not be well in two of the Workers' Paradises:
"'Over the last 12 months some 3,000 Cubans, mostly doctors, have arrived in the United States after deserting one of the Venezuelan government´s social programs they staff. This accounts for a 60% increase as compared with 2012. In 2012 there were about 5,000 refugee Cuban doctors and nurses in the United States coming from all over the world. Through December 1, 2013 this figure had surged to 8,000, 98% of them came from Venezuela."

Hiring the right football coach is no different than building any other business. Get the right people in the right roles and let them do their jobs. (See Jerry Jones for a BAD example)
The list of coaches for the 'Skins is not the problem. It is the fault of the owner who doesn't really know how to hire the right person. He has had coaches who have succeeded in other places.
But if the boss doesn't really know what he wants, or if what he wants is to meddle, then it doesn't matter who he hires.
