--Actually the Russian military is not very large at this point--

They've got enough to scrum 150,000 of them near the Ukraine border. I too doubt a full scale invasion as the Ukrainians have a great many scores to settle and no small amount of leverage from, not coincidentally, Russia's dependance on the Ukraine for getting gas to the EU, but a partitioned Ukraine is certainly possible.

But even a Putin has to recognize the odds of ending up looking like the guy who forgot the count on the hand grenade he was about to throw are not small if he overreaches.

Janet - the districts lie fallow, while the Capitol gorges itself

Who - besides a few voices in the wilderness, is talking about this? What % of the electorate (especially the LIVs) even KNOW that he's got a half-brother in the first place?

This is the problem. A lot of my frustration comes because I assume others know what I know...& they do not.

That is a perfect hypocrisy that LIVs would GET too.
IMO Republicans underestimate how powerful amplifying the hypocrisies of the left would be. People "get it" when things are unfair.
Greenies in their big houses & cars & everyone's high gas/energy prices would be a great one too.

I have long thought that "LIV" is not very accurate. The "47%" should be considered DIVs. Different Information Voters.

These people survive very well on what they know. After the looting of Wal-Mart when they had the EBT card "accidental" removal of spending limits (kinda like our Federal Govt right now), I was amazed at the speed of the dissemination of the looting strategy.

They are very high information for the world they live and vote in. Deep down I think my frustration comes from knowing that Boehner and his cronies are not trying to educate the freeloaders from low info to high info in my world, but rather they are trying to rule two distinct worlds of High Info Voters at the same time.

The Dems stick to their world and win, we don't and we lose.

Youth Sports- I started soccer refereeing 15 years ago when my son started to become a serious player, I figured I should understand the game if he was going to play it. When I started the referee stuff, I got to see what parents look like looking out from the playing field. It can get ugly. The kids who play treat officials OK (maybe it's the harsh talking to I give the rude ones), the paid pro coaches are good now, the parents are the only ones who routinely ruin the game atmosphere. And the lower quality of the league, the worse it can be. Shame.

BTW- teenage girls ACL tears? If the girl plays soccer, LAX, field Hockey, Basketball-- it's gonna happen. I see a few every season with HS aged girls.

Girls from the white? In Georgia the boys play white, the girls the senior tees. And yes we pickup at double par - except in tournaments then they play it out. Matches against other schools is DP pick up otherwise they'd get three holes in and the backup on the course would be unbearable.

Playing and practicing every day you will see dramatic improvement in his scores.

DP pickup is similar to the max strokes allowable on the handicap system where a 20-29 handicap golfer's max recordable score is 7 on any hole.

When watching him play, always stay half a hole ahead and be a helpful parent by being a spotter for wayward balls - it helps them stay on time and not get warnings for slow play and is perfectly legal. The pressure is less if you are not walking with them, too

Just an ex-high school golf parents 2¢.

Not surprised you didn't know this as slot of golfers don't, but our club pro stresses this in our ladies clinics to both keep the ladies from holding up the men (and avoiding the grumbling that results as we have no ladies play time restrictions) and to keep the ladies from getting frustrated on a bad hole.

Jim Eagle

BTW, Equitable Stroke Control is only for "posting" your score. If you are playing in accordance with the rules of golf (USGA) in a stroke play tournament, there is no pickup after you achieve the ESC max stroke. You keep playing and take the score you achieved whether it is a 13 or 19. You can adjust that score based on ESC when you post it.

The tournament committee can effect a local rule but I have never seen one in stroke play tournament since it would not protect the field. If you pick up your ball instead of holing out regardless of the score you are disqualified.

I believe in high school golf down here where I live they do not pickup at double par or max stroke since the publish scoreds indicate they played until the ball is holed (which is the rule).

Old Lurker

Is there a similar rule limiting how many balls I can lose per hole?

:-)

Stephanie VIP shhhhh its fight club

Also, hit, if you play with him, you might have him hit his ball and then pick it up and move it to your spot and the have him hit from there til he gets his distance game dialed in. Kinda like him playing a best ball tournament by himself. Helps with the frustration factor for beginning golfers - at least it did for me. And it helps avoid 6 hour rounds and having to let the field continually play through.

His distance game will come fast if he has his dad's ex baseball skillz :)

"I have long thought that "LIV" is not very accurate."

TK,

It's certainly not accurate when applied to 47%, nor would DIV be accurate if applied to the same percentage. DIV, as you apply it, would seem to apply to the 16-20% of the total population (not voting population) who live as near complete parasites. The majority of that subset have intellectual limitations which preclude employment in other than very closely supervised situations. They simply lack the capacity to make informed decisions.

The aggressive parasites, 8-10% of the population, definitely meet your DIV definition. The LIVs constitute the remainder and are very susceptible to emotional manipulation. They wouldn't recognize an intellectual foundation (right or left) if they tripped over it, nor would they recognize a principle, even if clubbed by one.

Boehner et al., are not going to waste time attempting to educate the ineducable, nor should they. Reality is raising knots on the LIVs and the GOP is going to focus on offering an escape route to avoid more of them.

Stephanie VIP shhhhh its fight club

Correct, Jack. They don't use ESC or double par pickups here in tournaments only in the mid week matches against other schools and at practice.

HS golfers play really slow and there are golfer's on the course behind them during the week and it helps keep pace.

For some reason, most boys think they need to emulate the pros on the green; therefore, they play really slowly. Girls tend to take a quick look and fire away.

Btw, if they do pick up at ESC or double par, whichever the coach is using, have him circle his pickups so the coach can see which are true scores and not pickups. He'll also see the circled scores start to disappear which is huge psychologically as well and a goal to work toward.

Hit,

Don't know how much golf Hit, Jr. has played or if he is just starting but I started Frederick out when he was 2 by putting from 3 feet on the practice green and gradually moving him back further. Nothing but putting.

Then we moved on to chipping from 6 feet off the green. Putting and chipping then on to pitching. He never hit a driver or iron from any distance until he had a reasonable short game. Then I handed him over to the pros at our club for full swing instruction.

He plays all par 4's from the 150, par 5's from the 200 and par 3's from the most forward tees. Of course, he's only 10 not a teen but its a good way to build up confidence. He is playing in his first tournament March 8th - a scramble for the school. He is part of our foursome and is really excited.

Since we are on a golf buzz, let me share some interesting fun facts about this year's US Open:

There are 111 local qualifying sites in 42 states - 16 sites are here in Florida - the most of any state.

The top 500 players in the World Golf Rankings are exempt from local qualifying.

You must possess a handicap index of 1.3 or less in order to apply for local qualifying. [Ed. note - You won't believe the number of high handicap golfers that cheat on their application and then get into local qualifying only to piss off the guys they are playing with by shooting in the 100's)

Only 2 golfers have ever won the US Open via local and sectional qualifying - Ken Venturi in 1964 and Orville Moddy in 1969.

They are expecting over 14,000 golfers to try and qualify this year.

This year's tournament is at Pinehurst No. 2 in North Carolina.

Hit, you need to take young Master Hit down to watch it. He'll love it.

That's about 8 off of the top of my head. As to the demographics, millenials, married/single moms, latino and asian professionals and business owners. They all want to avoid national bankruptcy and socialism which will destroy opportunity for themselves and their kids. Plus, the 47% is majority white retirees, who worked all of their lives and are americans. They want their SS and Medicare protected, but are otherwise persuadable, bankruptcy and default is poison to them, look at the dems running away from the ObummerCare Medicare cuts to pay for Medicaid expansion for the parasites. very few of these demographics will turn 90 degrees to starboard to your way of thinking. NK, I think if Treasury's and the IRS's administration of the tax provisions of 404Care ever reaches SCOTUS, SCOTUS will uphold such administration. The administration of the federal taxing power is given great discretion by the federal courts.

On the other hand, I think the IRS's discriminatory administration of Section 501(c)(4) exempt status applications is subject to Equal Protection/First Amendment attack. See Yick Wo v. Hopkins, 118 US 356 (1886) (striking down discriminatory administration of a facially neutral municipal statute; although Yick Wo involved municipal law and administration, discriminatory administration of a facially neutral federal statute is also subject to attack).
