Here is Woody Allen from a 1976 People Magazine interview:
[Allen] goes on: "I'm open-minded about sex. I'm not above reproach; if anything, I'm below reproach. I mean, if I was caught in a love nest with 15 12-year-old girls tomorrow, people would think, yeah, I always knew that about him." Allen pauses. "Nothing I could come up with would surprise anyone," he ventures helplessly. "I admit to it all."
Har de har.
Don't prosecutors call that a confession?
PS: Great find TomM!

PS: kind of a rough title for the thread, no? Do you clear that with your layers of fact-checkers and libel counsel?

Clarice
Which version do you want us to believe?
Feldman 2007
"Former CIA head Tenet, who insisted the Department of Justice investigate a routine referral for reasons which are still unclear but seem to be pique and revenge?"
Feldman 2014
"CIA official's John Rizzo's revelations in new book, Company Man: Thirty Years of Controversy and Crisis in the CIA, establish beyond peradventure of doubt that the Plame case was a hoax, stirred up by her husband and Patrick Fitzgerald."

Posted by: Truthbetold | February 04, 2014 at 12:22 PM
I hate to be a pill, but that is how I roll.
NK engaged TBT with a specific claim. Now NK is getting cover from the gallery to not take TBT out. This is the equivalent of having someone "hold you back" to avoid a fight.
If anybody ever tried to hold me back after I initiated a fight, they needed a black-belt in something because they were now in the fight.
I say we watch NK bust TBT's chops.
Or, is there a fear that he may not be victorious?
Posted by: Threadkiller | February 04, 2014 at 12:36 PM
TK-- your birth certificate stuff is more entertaining.
I'm no comment pacifist, nor am I overly sensitive to commenters who have a much lower tolerance to debate and bickering than I do. But sometimes, common courtesy dictates that one doesn't engage in useless bickering which serves no purpose. So I am taking good advice.
But I realize that both of those concepts are somewhat remote for you. Sorry to be so blunt.
Posted by: NK(withnewsoftware) | February 04, 2014 at 12:45 PM
bust away, but keep it here and clutter up the other threads.
good grief this shitdick has been gnawing away on a 7 year old story...ripe enough for Woody Allen.

--Or, is there a fear that he may not be victorious?--
There's a fear we'll get more of this endless, stupid, cross-thread p2p bullshit.
Posted by: Ignatz | February 04, 2014 at 12:48 PM
The concept of you backing up your sniping is the only thing I find to be more remote, but I have learned to live with it.

Yeah, Ig, I agree with you on the cross-thread stuff. I have been guilty of that in the past, I I cleaned that part of my act up. I hope TBT does the same.
Either way, NK picked this thread to engage him.
Rumble time!

There's nothing to rumble about that's the point the advice givers made, and they are right.
And TK 'backing up'? linking to shite posted by madmen isn't persuasive, so by no rational definition is that 'back up'... Do you think it is? You've learned to live with that? not good.
Posted by: NK(withnewsoftware) | February 04, 2014 at 12:55 PM
I guess I will learn to live with you calling something "not inconsistent", but failing to make your point.
At least that is consistent.
Now, go get 'em, NK!
Posted by: Threadkiller | February 04, 2014 at 01:05 PM
TK-- I understand your natural sympathy for this particular troll. Its recent pathological repetition of 'conflict of interest' was highly evocative of your comments about the 'you know what' topic. So a natural sympathy from you there.
Posted by: NK(withnewsoftware) | February 04, 2014 at 01:09 PM
So let's talk about your conflict of interest TK.... I am told there are photos of you and this troll splitting a latte. Why are these photos suppressed? Prove that you are not responsible for that suppression. I'm waiting.

TK-- I'll make a brief serious point. I am for debate, very much for it. But debate to me is meant to not only entertain spectators, but provide facts and hopefully insight to them. Trolling on the other hand has no such purpose, it is purely self-indulgent. No implication that you've crossed the line to do anything other than debate here... although... I do think you've approached the line and gazed over it at times :). Best.
Posted by: NK(withnewsoftware) | February 04, 2014 at 01:39 PM
TBT, yes I have. I wish he would have followed up on his remark to you.
I have zero stake in the outcome, but I would have liked to see something thoughtful and logical come out of your post vs his claim.
This can be an excellent forum for debate.

I assumed so, TBT. My question still stands.
Posted by: Threadkiller | February 04, 2014 at 01:45 PM
I'm not. Everyone knows you can't persuade a liberal with facts.
Posted by: Truthbetold | February 04, 2014 at 01:46 PM

Posted by: NK(withnewsoftware) | February 04, 2014 at 01:49 PM
Great, I come to the thread having narcisolated TBT and the entire thread has devolved after two posts to a dialogue about the troll.
On topic, my view of Allen's guilt has shifted a bit based on the link yesterday. Now I'm not so sure. I don't really think this shifts my view one way or the other. Comedians say outrageous things for laughs, and sometimes they aren't funny, but it doesn't amount to a confession.
Posted by: jimmyk | February 04, 2014 at 01:54 PM
TK
If you wish to say I was trolling for liberals and NK is the liberal that bit.
OK, I can live with that.
However, my intentions are to educate some conservative individuals who are being misguided.

Hell, the man produced, wrote and directed several films dealing with relationships with underage girls and then left his wife and married his stepchild. That pretty much tells us who and what he is.

No, they weren't married and didn't even live together.
Agreed, Matt, he's twisted, but that's all still a far cry from actual child abuse/pedophilia.

Trolling on the other hand has no such purpose, it is purely self-indulgent
As is responding to a troll, and that includes "Get outta here," and "Fuck you." They are all responses and give him/her the attention sought.

Allen married the 19/20/21-yr old 17 years ago, and is still married to her. Certainly nothing in his history would have pointed to his ability to sustain a marriage for that long. She has a pretty tough history as well -- she was adopted out of an orphanage after being severely neglected as a child, and her adoptive parents divorced soon after adopting her.
Mr and Mrs Allen appear to be the most normal people in the story, given 17 years of hindsight, and I think that ought to count for something.
Posted by: 21_cathy_f_in_tripep@d_prison_98 | February 04, 2014 at 05:51 PM
I nominate A(Bub) as a replacement wise woman on the SC. She can take over for the two who rely on their political lady parts.
Posted by: Frau Kuckucksuhr | February 04, 2014 at 06:00 PM
IMO I can discount the versions from Mia and Woody (ewww), but the detailed account given by the baby sitter/nanny makes me wonder. Finally, it isn't easy to live with crazy adults.
That Mr. and (the present) Mrs. Allen are still married doesn't convince me they are more normal than, say, Anna Nicole Smith and her 89-year old lucky stiff.
Posted by: Frau Kuckucksuhr | February 04, 2014 at 06:07 PM
Agreed, Matt, he's twisted, but that's all still a far cry from actual child abuse/pedophilia.
Is it?
Posted by: Jane-Rebel Alliance1 | February 04, 2014 at 06:33 PM
Is it?
Yes, I think a middle-aged man marrying a 21-year-old is a far cry from a middle-aged man feeling up a 7-year-old girl. Not suggesting it's normal, and the fact that it was the adopted daughter of a former girlfriend is "twisted," as I said. But there's still a big difference.
Posted by: jimmyk | February 04, 2014 at 08:17 PM
I dunno. That part I would agree with (an old guy marrying a young girl) but there is other evidence . I also think 19 is a little young for a midlife crisis. And if you have those urges I bet they come out in lots of ways.
I also can't imagine why someone would go public with that if it wasn't true - although I have no doubt some would.
My mind is not made up, but it's leaning against Allen.
