We are slacking our way to success on Saturday afternoon.
And as we slack, we wonder - when women make different career choices that lead to lower pay, it represents a national crisis so grave that our President feels obliged to lie about it.
But when the loss of subsidies with higher income discourages the working class from actually trying to work their way up the ladder, progressives cheer the choice of free time over paid effort.
Well... since the topic is women in society, sort of, I am also wondering whether I can make it through yet another day without accidentally seeing some ice dancing from Sochi. Now this is an example of women crushing the American spirit. Most of the time we can count on male-oriented sports programming, with lots of football, basketball, beer commercials, hair loss advice, pick-up trucks, and of course, Viagra and its many, many, many competitors.
But come the Olympics the networks feel obliged to scoop up the chicks with lots of ice dancing (winter) and gymnastics, synchronmized swimming and rhythmic aerobic dancing (summer). Groan - why can't I be watching Lithuania play Estonia in ice hockey like a real American? Instead I am being offered a chance to watch Miss Unpronounceable from Unrecognizable twirl around like... well, like the finger twirling next to my head to indicate my probable mental status.
One day more...
On Jeopardy tonight, the category was "Chicago the Beautiful" and all of the answers were read by Michelle Obama.
I really think we need to read up son the Perons.

As far as I am able to mine the depths of insane minds, it appears TBT believes the Plame hoax was started by Bush, Perle and Wolfoitz to distract from drawing attention to the real perps behind 9/11 who could not possibly be jihadis and somehow I--who pasted together the best thoughts of the JOM hive mine into a coherent narrative was a key player in pulling the wool over people's eyes.

This is what bothers me the most about TBT and his ilk. The sheer supremacist view of theirs that will refuse to believe that "desert goatheraders" could actually be smart enough to commit 9/11. Even if they could it be all a plot by some Jewish cabal or rich bankers and the government. This type of bigotry blinds them for so many things.
They don't ask if fire can't melt steel, why do they have all steel beams covered with some fireproof agent. Or if the Iraq War was for Iraqui oil why are we getting less of it now that pre-war. Or why is the Iraqui government paying billions to remove both Yellow Cake or Chemical weapons that we "were not there".

'73, which was more of a draw, but it led to the oil embargo

Architects recgnize that a very pleasing ratio of one dimension to another - say, the length of a room to its width - occurs when the ratio of the length to the width is the same as the ratio of (legth plus width) to length. This is called the "golden ratio." Its numerical value is 1.6183.
Now get this: if you take the ratio of a Fibonacci number to its predecessor, you will get a number that is either higher or lower than the golden ratio. But if it is higher, then the ratio of the next two will be lower, and so on. And as the numbers get larger, the ratios approach closer and closer to - you guessed it.
I have pondered why this is so, and have concluded that you can't get there from where I start.
Posted by: Danube on iPad | February 08, 2014 at 09:43 PM

TBT,
Sorry, I have a life so I just read your question. The answer is no, it depends on the particular alloy and the properties desired.
Maybe this will help, you;
Addendum (8/26/2011): I answered this question many years ago and it has been referenced in many different web sites and reports. There has been one misrepresentation that has come from that. Many sites refer to the difference in the melting point of steel and the burning temperature of jet fuel as proof that the World Trade Center could not have fallen from the aircraft fires. What those authors fail to note is that while steel melts at around 1,370°C (2500°F) it begins to lose its strength at a much lower temperature. The steel structure of the World Trade Center would not have to melt in order for the buildings to lose their structural integrity. Steel can be soft at 538°C (1,000°F) well below the burning temperature of jet fuel.
