Yulia's Fatherland bloc, yes that doesn't make me feel all warm and cozy, is all over the place, in terms of policy, but a truly liberal party would probably not succeed, and it's better then the POR's strong arm tactics.

On the previous thread, Narciso links to idiot Ambassador Samantha Powers putting out a statement that she would like input from readers, but it is obvious that she refuses to accept any input that tries to get her to explain what she meant with her incomprehensible Daniel Pearl tweet.

In a similar vein, last week Michael Mann put out a post saying that he would welcome any questions, even tough questions, about his work. Naturally enough Anthony Watts (among many others) responded with excellent tough questions, which Mann immediately refused to answer.

A follow up on ‘I’m Michael E. Mann, Distinguished Professor of Meteorology at Penn State, Ask Me Almost Anything!’

Here were Anthony's questions that were beyond the pale:

1. Given the Oxburgh Panel’s criticism on your use of statistical methods and McShane and Wyner 2010 finding significant statistical lapses in Mann et al 2008, do you foresee consulting with statisticians before publishing future papers?

2. Do you regret the splicing of instrumental data with proxy data in your Nature study, something that Phil Jones referred to as “Mike’s Nature trick?”

3. Darrell Kaufman issued a correction after he discovered that your orientation of the Tiljander data set was upside down in Mann et al 2008. Do you regret reversing this orientation, and why have you not issued a similar correction?

It is well worth a click onto Watts Up every day.

Jane,do you know of instances of other families in similar circumstances as the Pelletier family? Any investigations of BCH? The internet has a few blog posts about parents who have had bad experiences with BCH. Granted,a person can say anything on the internet. This case has received attention because the parents are fighting and they have advocates. Anyway,I'm curious because critically ill children from all over New England go to BCH. That is another issue...how does MA have authority over residents of CT? I believe Lou Pelletier is going to be on the Kelly File tonight.

ISTM that as the population on the planet rose, the oxygen CO2 cycle would be increased kinda like inventory turns. The more turns the better.

I don't think a looped system can ever be modeled as the variables that are acting on it are, well, variable. The sun being the biggest variable variable of them all. And the sun's impact is much larger than anything else in the loop. ELE events are ELE events not because of the changing amounts of any gases in the air, but due to the lack of sunlight. It is the opacity that kills not the increase in CO2.

They are a bunch of me-too frauds thinking they are in the cool crowd. Lack of sunlight on them will also result in a much needed ELE.

This may have been cited before;

[I]nsofar as Morgan has made an impression on the country at all, his brief foray into American television appears to have served primarily to extend the territory in which he has thus far rendered himself unpopular. Back in the old country, Morgan’s name is synonymous with arrogance and with overreach, and he is known less for his interviewing skills and show-business acumen than for allegedly hacking the telephones of celebrities; for retaliating against even minor criticism by siccing paparazzi on the speaker; for having published “calculated and malicious” fake photographs of British soldiers abusing prisoners; and for considering nothing whatsoever to be more sacred than his insatiable ambition.

Just read Captain Hate' link to Richard Cohen's piece on Susan Rice appearing on David Gregory's Meet The Press Show on Monday.

Cohen is correct about Rice simply spouting false talking points, but this bit about David Gregory hit me:

(David) Gregory, usually as alert and twitchy as a squirrel, flat-lined. He did not ask Rice who, precisely, advocated boots on the ground. He did not ask her to name just one prominent critic or to wonder why this is “the alternative” when there are so many others. He just pushed on, leaving this straw man to crinkle and crackle under the hot TV lights and allowing Rice, who is the president’s national security adviser, to get away with rebutting an argument that has not been made.

When the hell has Gregory ever been anything other then a complete squish for any lie coming out of the mouth of a Leftist?

Cohen is nuts if he is under the impression that Gregory ever goes after anyone but Conservatives. What Journalistic poop.

But consider those numbers once the State is in the business of confiscating new borns and determining if they should be culled via post birth abortions.

Fer instance, 74,000 were aborted in New York City in 2012. If we simply double that via post birth abortions to 150,000 per year, think of the total savings in human generated CO2 that would be to Mayor DeBlasio's Manhattan.

The World Health Organization says there are 50 Million abortions a Year worldwide (approximately 125,000 per day) so simply doubling that to 100 million via this post birth culling and we'd not only do GAIA immeasurable good, we'd also be producing enormous amounts of good fertilizer for new trees to grow from the decaying tissues of the culled.

Solar 'Variable'--?

The Sun's thermal energy output is a near constant-- Cosmic Ray output does vary. In 2007 danish cosmologist Svensmark published an interesting theory about how cosmic ray variability affects earth's cloud formations and how that affects climate. Very speculative theory, but it is being tested. However, the sun's Thermal energy output is a near constant. This is a major topic at WUWT.

Stephanie, it allows touch / speak controls in HTML5 via JavaScript. Kind of a hot area for front ends of any application in existence, thus tough to find people familiar with it. jimmyk

I haven't seen the text of the law, so I don't know in what way it "singles out gays," but I guarantee you if it were more generally worded, the charge would have been that it would allow people to refuse to participate in interracial marriages, etc.

NK, I can't speak for TK, but as I said, Morrissey was incoherent. Either that or I just don't have the patience to try to decipher what he is actually proposing. But "a more liberterian, non governmental resolution of protecting religious liberty" seems a bit of fairy dust and unicorn farts. Libertarians expect government to protect our freedoms, including the freedom not to be coerced into participating in something that one finds objectionable.

NK(withnewsoftware)

Whether ill-advisedor not, the Mann litigation will continue for a long while. Steyn wants a circus of accusations and rebuttal. The irony here of course is that the Lefty has far more to lose than the Righty. Mann's empire of grants and budget lines could shrivel up from the publicity about his sloppy and worse methods. Steyn's stock in trade is controversy, he'll eat this stuff up. My guess is Mann eventually moves to discontinue his case over Steyn's objection, and Steyn will have to re-file his counterclaim as a complaint. The plaintiffs and defendants will switch sides, but the circus will continue on. For years.

I'm sort of like a mini-expert on Pier's Morgan. I think it was here at JOM, I warned everyone, especially CNN, what a mistake it was to bring him into the fold. I was keen observer of Morgan when I lived in England from 1996 to 2003. The reason why is that he was an uncommon bully on ever program he appeared, a humorless, know-it-all without a gram of humility.

He used to appear a lot on "Have I Got News for You" which was a vewry biting, fast paced, news satire show but he didn't have the quickness of wit and self-deprecation to survive. Ian Hislop, (a graduate of Ardingly, my grandfather's public school), the editor of Private Eye, would use him as his personal punching bag. And Morgan was so dense he never even knew he was being punched silly. Paul Merton, another fantastic wit, would do these mocking impersonations of him on the same show and instead of laughing like everyone else, he would slink down in his chair.

But then the guy who could really set him off was Jeremy Clarkson of "Top Gear" fame. When he heard Morgan had been sacked he tweeted: "I understand Nigerian TV is looking for a new chat show host. Anyone got any suggestions?"

The Brits hate him and I doubt he will find any work there. It looks like the NIgerian gig or maybe Al Jazeera where he would be a perfect fit. He could bring on Muzzie guests and harangue them about suicide vest control.

Cash the check, Rich. You undoubtedly got notice of a class action and trashed it wiyhout looking, as I always do. So long as you don't affirmatively opt out of the class, you are in it. Class actions never go to trial; a settlement is always negotiated and approved by the court. I am not a scientist, but...

I'd be much more convinced of the ability of man to control the earth's climate if, for starters:
1. The earth was a perfectly round sphere
2. The earth traveled on a perfect circle orbit about the sun
3. The earth's rotation was perfectly smooth
4. The sun provided the same amount of radiation all of the time.

BUT WE KNOW THAT

1. The earth is oblong
2. The earth's rotation about the sun is not perfectly symmetrical
3. The earth wobbles on its axis--and sometimes the poles shift
4. The sun has these things called sunspots and periods of lesser and greater activity, that is, lesser and greater intensity

SO, the idea that any change we make in one or a dozen parts per million of CO2 emission will change in any appreciable way, the earth's climate is just defacatus bovinus.

And Mann, Gore, and the other purveyors of the alarmism can go do an unnatural act to themselves.

They make me sick, and anyone who agrees with them is a useless idiot or worse, my enemy.
