The Crimea has a special place in Russian history. Per David Brooks, Putin has a much grander vision but right now, Putin seems to be offering Obama an off-ramp (rather than the other way around): accept the revised status quo, dial back the bloviating, and move on.
Sufficient unto the day are the snacks thereof for the Russian bear. By way of comparison, Hitler expanded Germany in patient steps over several years, remilitarizing the Rhineland in 1936, annexing Austria in the spring of 1938, and picking up the Sudetenland that fall.
If Putin really wants to bite off the eastern Ukraine, he need not hurry - Obama is unlikely to be a less lame duck in six months or a year. So Putin can let the world recalibrate to the new status quo and then impose a new recalibration when it suits his vision or political needs. Rome wasn't built in a day and the Ukraine won't be re-integrated in Greater Russia in a week. But it is hard to see why Putin would stop now, forever.
TROUBLING: Hillary Clinton Compares Russia Moves To Nazi Aggression. I'm on the same wavelength as Hillary?
GUTLESS: Perhaps fearing a Godwin's Law disqualification, Hillary backs off the Hitler talk. But wait a second! Comparing a tin-pot tyrant like Assad to Hitler has obvious flaws. But with Putin we are talking about the leader of a former superpower contemplating its former greatness and seeking a rematch. Why is the comparison to post-WWI Germany out of bounds there?
I should have added to my last comment that if we hear leaks from that Q & A, it will be a further sign they are abandoning ship.

Dr. Emengele is ignoring the Oregon experience where exposure to the "free" ProleCull clinics drove the new parasites straight back to ERs. He needs to either recruit kinder, gentler Einsatzkommandos or find a more effective method of coercion.

Rick, I think Dr. Emengele should be required to tell a bunch of black inner-city moms that they don't need a doctor for their sick kids.
In fact, that is how I am going to portray it:

Entered a strange Twilight Zone at breakfast this morning. Sat down and turned the TV on just to make some noise and caught the tail end of an old Dating Game with about a 12 year old Michael Jackson and some pre pubescant girl blowing kisses our way. Then a minute later there's Jim Lange introducing us to this little known Austrian dude who at the time was Mr Olympia; an extremely youthful Arnold Schwarzenegger.
It was like a flat screen time capsule. Very weird and, considering what the two of them later became, kind of sad.

Miss Marple,
If I were setting ad policy, I would not spend a cent on any ad with a "especially people of color" line in it. That's Progressive Fascist territory which is profitable only when white female LIVs play along.
I'd buy ads focused on ACA lies and IRS thuggery in the tabloids and on The View and there would be precisely zero reference to race.
Posted by: Account Deleted | March 05, 2014 at 01:18 PM
If Obama were anything but a hollow left wing tool, he would be announcing a radical shift in U.S. energy policy.
More drilling, more fracking, and the ability to export crude. Approve Keystone and screw the Marxist environmental Luddites.
This would have a huge effect not on on the global power balance, but also on US jobs, new industrial capacity, and our balance of payments.
But since he is an anti-American Marxist scumbag I am pretty sure he won't.

If the right judge can be found and the right prosecutors can put the case together, IMO the Obamacare fraud will make the Chevron case look like a very very small part of the leftist corruption fraud.

'Civil unions' to get government benes for instance? Why should the Church have an issue with this?; It is in the New Testament that Christ --and by logical extension his Church-- sought no temporal political power over the state, render unto Caesar our lord said. Christ sought souls not marriage license fees. If Buggerers want to register for survivor benefits, and they otherwise qualify, without fraud. why not? The state can only recognize marriage, which is defined by God and nature, the State can't define something that doesn't exist. 'Civil unions' those can be defined any way voters decide IMO.

Temporarily lost my mind and read Flathead Friedman on Putin and how to undercut him.
My reading became more frantic as I went down the column and the clown wasn't completely wrong or his usual imbecilic self.
But my equanimity returned as the dolt advised us how to do so.
After a short alarm that he sagely advised producing and exporting more natural gas the world began spinning on its axis again when the cretin couldn't extend that logic to oil but instead advised a large gas tax and "investment" in green boondoggles to somehow slash the price of oil. Presumably it would be through crashing the economy.

Though I have to say, the wording they are relying on for the "Obama knew" idea is rather ambiguous. But why quibble over such minor technicalities. It's time for payback on the "sixteen words." Last year when Obama went to Rockville to give a speech at some factory, his caravan left DC to VA, then up the GW Parkway to the Beltway, then over the Cabin John Bridge, then up I270 to the Rockville exit.
Along that entire route the police closed every bridge crossing the route then cleared all traffic off the roads of the route itself, restoring things to normal only after the king had passed.
Repeated in reverse an hour later.
You know DC....just imagine the nightmare.

It doesn't have to be the intent of any individual to be the result of their collective actions. Just like no fisherman intends to cause overfishing, but collectively they do.
Myself, I think marriage will survive, but in a weakened state, not just from the appropriation of the term "marriage," but from all the other assaults on it by the left. Especially the welfare state.
As for civil unions, ok, but what is the societal interest in this? One reason government sanctions marriage is because a society where people of opposite sex pair monogamously and raise children in a home with a mother and father has better outcomes. Is that the case for civil unions? Otherwise, they don't need government sanction other than to enforce the agreement between the two parties.

"President Obama strongly denounced the Senate on Wednesday for failing to confirm a top nominee to the Justice Department.
"In a statement released by the White House, Obama said Debo Adegbile's defeat is a 'travesty' and is based on unfair attacks.
"'The Senate’s failure to confirm Debo Adegbile to lead the Civil Rights Division at the Department of Justice is a travesty based on wildly unfair character attacks against a good and qualified public servant,' Obama said. 'Mr. Adegbile’s qualifications are impeccable.'"
I love it when he gets petulant.

Old Lurker - Here in the Seattle area, when Obama does fund raisers, his motorcades are almost always timed as if he were trying to maximize traffic problems.
He's done it often enough so that I began to think that the timing was deliberate.
(I should add that he has never caused me any problems, personally.)

Clarice,
Are you trying to hide the fact that you know Steve Miller? Haven't you, in fact, flown like an eagle to the sea?

After five years of this fraud? You'd better start paying closer attention, JM.;)

Long story but in the 1960s the Jesuits in the USA opened their seminaries to gay seminarians, so long as they vowed to be chaste. Sort of a Cathlic DADT policy. Consequently gay seminarians applied to the jesuits, and straight seminarians opted for other orders. That was the situation for 15-20 years, so USA Jesuits of a certain age fit a certain profile.

Clarice,
Are you trying to hide the fact that you know Judith Hill and that she's 1.68M tall and her music is influenced my Michael Jackson? Well, are you?

Clarice, are you trying to deny the fact that you know me, and that I am Judith Miller? That would be silly because everyone knows it is true. BTW the asshole needs a better picture of me, that one sucks.
John Kerry can talk longer and say less than anyone on the planet, except maybe his boss. But no worries, Putin is all in on getting out - or something.

Clarice, what does the color nine smell like?

I can't get to net positive on Landrieu and Hagan voting to confirm the dirtbag. Even if the plantations are whipped end to end, it won't drive enough black nitwits to the polls to offset the cop-killer ads to come.

Clarice,
Have you ever been to a Turkish prison? Do you enjoy gladiator movies?

I love it when he gets petulant.
He takes everything personally and then quickly shows it because nobody can talk any sense to him. I think this only gets better from this point forward.
