March Madness continues and the WaPo joins in.
FWIW, this database is of operating companies, not leaseholders; finding the Evil Koch Brothers as a major player is a lot trickier here although I assume a shameless progressive or, pardon my redundancy, a WaPo reporter could manage it.
I can't see any argument against the proposition that that is sheer journalistic corruption.
Posted by: Danube on iPad | March 22, 2014 at 04:12 PM
Corruption? More like Pravda on the Potomac political propaganda.
It wouldn't surprise me that Schumer's press secretary stayed up all night writing it for Carney to edit and deliver straight to Podesta to hand it under the table at whatever diner the left uses these days.

Posted by: Jim Eagle | March 22, 2014 at 05:05 PM
I'm skipping ahead here but I just got back from the MA Republican convention. The person I sat next to was a talker (that's an understatement). During the course of the day she told me something I couldn't wait to get home to tell TK.
Michelle Obama is a man. The proof is that every woman's ring finger is shorter than their pointy (second) finger, and every man's is opposite. Michelle's ring finger is much much longer than her second finger. End of story. Oh and one time her husband referred to her a "Michael" (altho I would attribute that to the teleprompter).

Jane,
You're lucky. I once had to sit next to Lynn Woolsley (google her) on a flight from DC to San Francisco. She started talking to me and wouldn't shut up. Since my company had many employees in her district (Marin and Sonoma counties) I had to politely listen to her "commie" talk for over 5 hours.
You got off lucky:)

Speaking as a non-Lawyer, if there isn't a reasonable Legal case that the Koch Brother's can make for the intentional harm done to them by the Washington Post intentionally and knowingly printing false stories about them, and intentionally designed to harm their image by "stir (ing) and inflame(ing) public debate in this election year then I have even less faith in our Legal Justice system than I thought.

I know its important to protect your family name and reputation but dragging this into court only brings up more dirt and their merchants.
BTW, the Koch Industries lawyers will have a nice rebuttal and demand for correction in the form of a well written letter to the editor. They always do and they are relentless and quite specific.

Why can't Apple insert a button that takes you to the bottom of the page?
And on another note, my iPhone annoys me because of having to slide my finger across it to access a phone call. It is almost impossible to do when driving.

It's interesting to note: the media talked incessantly about how hostile Nixon, and later, George W. Bush and their administrations were to the press, and how there was a chilling of speech, etc. And yet, they went after both administrations relentlessly, and ultimately, without any real reprisal of the sort that the media always warned us was forthcoming.
Whereas with a constitutional law professor running "the most transparent administration in history," the media rolls over like a neutered housepet, and despite their subservience, we still see reprisals against various media outlets that Nixon at his most cynical wouldn't have dared to think about, let alone carry out.
Funny how that works.

JiB,
Because the knowingly false story is front and center on my newspaper and therefore I don't see it as far down the totem pole:
Koch brothers' big stake in oil sands raises Keystone pipeline questions
BY STEVEN MUFSON AND JULIET EILPERIN
The Washington PostMarch 21, 2014
It is intentionally doing damage to the Koch Brother's (and therefore their political causes) by falsely damning them in the Public Eye and aiding their political enemies in providing them those lies to smear them.
Just as an example---Almost every story up here related to energy or to Begich's opponents leads off with comments detrimental to the Koch Brothers.

I don't think that's enough. If we want to push back, at some point, someone with deep pockets on the right needs to go to court and bankrupt a major newspaper, or at a minimum, really wreck the careers of a few big name reporters somehow - make them so radioactive that they can't even get jobs as Wal-Mart greeters - to get the point across that these kind of smear jobs are not risk-free.

I'm with you James D.
Remember years back in 1992 when NBC news rigged explosives on the bottom of a GM Truck to "prove" that it's gas tanks would explode on collision? NBC Caught Lying About Chevrolet Trucks Exploding (Watch the whole 3 minutes worth).
My only problem with GM was that they didn't monetarily sue NBC out of existence, instead of settling for Jane Pauley saying NBC News was sorry and settling I imagine for a decent cash payment.
As a result, 4 years later NBC was able to unveil their new spinoff network, MSNBC, (1996) quite arguably the most corrupt TV Network in the country.
Posted by: daddy | March 22, 2014 at 06:06 PM
"My only problem with GM was that they didn't monetarily sue NBC out of existence"
That kept them in the good graces of the DC elites, so that when they got in trouble they got a nice chunk of taxpayer money. Do you think if GM GS been owned by the evil Koch brothers it would have been bailed out?
Posted by: jimmyk on iPhone | March 22, 2014 at 06:15 PM
"Why can't Apple insert a button that takes you to the bottom of the page?"
A couple months back I posted instructions on how to make a bookmark that does that. There are also alternative browsers. I've gone both routes and am happy with the bookmark.

Do you think if GM GS been owned by the evil Koch brothers it would have been bailed out?
No, JimmyK,
but I think if the Koch Brother's had sued NBC out of existence they'd have given a wake up call to the rest of this country's Media about engaging in such practices, and thus have done a world of good to our Media Industry and the Public in general.
On the flip side of the question, if FOX News had conspired to create such a knowingly false report as NBC did with the exploding Fuel Tanks, do any of us think that the suing company wouldn't have tried to bankrupt FOX out of existence and have their broadcasting license permanently pulled? I don't.
Heck, in essence they try to do it every time they bring back the Fairness Doctrine bogeyman.

DEliberate media misrepresentation of inconvenient facts is simply the other leg of the overall coordinated global effort to alter prevailing beliefs, values, feelings, and attitudes in order to try to direct future action.
I have said this before, but I will reiterate that UNESCO now calls both legs media education to connect them as two components of the same strategy it regards as necessary to enact Scientific Huamnism.

Well all you dissenters to my opinion jsut watch and see how Koch handles this. I will bet a steak dinner at the Palm in DC that it goes the way I said previously.
Yes it egregious but for them its SOP and they always let the corporate guys handle. David Koch is a neighbor in Southampton. See him all the time whe I am back. He is a huge philantrophist and a great unassuming guy who knows he has the bucks to counter anythng whenever he wants but also not to get into a mud wrestling fight.
Hope I am not wrong.

Maybe a bit worse. Lysenkoism didn't collapse as badly as the SkyDragon scam. The WaPo watermelon would have been taken to the basement of the Lubyanka for generating such crap propaganda under the Soviets. Dialing the amps to 11 with more cowbell just isn't going to cut it with the segment of the population which has already turned away from the Fascists due to the 404Care lies.
Putin has certainly picked the right moment to unmask the weakness of the complete progressive charade in the US and EUtopia, with China and India quietly applauding in the background. Somebody else needs to too.
There's much more than just the finger length. There's shoulder width relative to head width, shoulder width relative to hip width, and ultimately, a few shots of the failed attempts at hiding the male genitalia, usually in knit dresses.

What's more, Loretta Fuddy is reported to have spotted all of this evidence and connected the dots. Coincidence? I don't think so....
Posted by: Danube on iPad | March 22, 2014 at 08:47 PM
Except for the observations relating to "down there" in the knit dresses, the theories about finger length and head proportion to shoulder width seem to me reminiscent of the skull-shape race theories of the likes of Gobineau and Chamberlain which gave rise to many of the Nazi experiments to identify "true" Aryans.
Poppycock says I.
But as I have noted in the last thread, I do note that there is no photographic evidence thus far that Mooshell has bowed to any foreign personage, thus exhibiting far more testicular fortitude than her hapless "husband".
