Love the Shockers, but they ain't gonna make it. Gators are my pick to click.

Jeff Dobbs

I want you to search this thread and the previous one. Look for any post by . . . you know who.

"heh. heh heh. heh heh heh."
--stuff hit and run said

Awesome Hit. I give guitar lessons. I've got several graduate students of note, including a young 12 year old who played with Cheap Trick last summer. I also teach a College class in advanced guitar and theory.

The Duke game was exxcellent. My Dads wife works for Wake, but I have to cheer/root for Duke.

Jimmy. Scott Walker could finish his degree at Marquette by summers' end. AT THIS POINT WHAT DIFFERENCE DOES IT MAKE!!!! Hahahahahaha.
How has Occidental/Columbia/Harvard Law review done???????? One accomplishment would be his first.

Gus, I kind of hope he doesn't, just to give the Dems something to obsess on that voters won't care about.

Jeff Dobbs

I wish hit and run jr could learn from you, Gus.

mrs hit and run doesn't get why I really can't help the lad. I can play the guitar ok. But I hack my way through it by teaching myself.

I can't possibly explain why I put this finger here and that finger there, I just do it by imitating what I hear.

Thing is -- hit and run jr could also do the same. But I don't want him to hack like I do, I want him to learn how to actually play -- understanding all that carp you know.

I wish I knew it.

My chest swells with gloating joy at the defeat of the cuckoo shitbird Tru......old. He is now sitting in his mother's basement with gritted teeth, clenched fists and smoke coming out of his ears.

Think of the helpless rage that strange asshole must be feeling at this very moment. Hey Marty: if you've got the pistol at your temple and are wondering what do do...go for it, man! Hold it and squeeze it!

I will now dance the Comanche Whipsong Eagle Rock. (Clad in tasteful shorts.)

God bless you Hit. I don't know how I became a credible guitar teacher. I just did. Hit, I am self taught. At 10, my Dad smashed my beloved piece of crap guitar to bits. I didn't clean my bedroom to his satisfaction. My Dad passed away last August. He and I were very very close in my adult life. The last words I ever said to my Dad....were...."I love you Dad". The day before he died completely out of the blue and unexpectedly. My Dad once came to a GIG that my band was playing at an outdoor festival of note. Years and years and years ago. He wasn't a musician, and he never ever came to see me play, but this was our Suburbs festival, and quite big. He told me....."Gus" (not my real name!!), what are you doing with these other guys, you are clearly so much more talented"!! My Dad meant it, and I treasure that memory. Well, years and years later, I am STILL in the same band with my High School mates. I have a gig tomorrow night. Same guys, my dearest friends of a lifetime. And I still teach. Long story short. I was ONLY TAUGHT, what the MIDDLE C on a piano is/was. Beyond that, I was taught there are no sharps/flats between E and F and between B and C. The rest is/was logic, and I read dozens of books. I LOVE playing guitar. My Dad died knowing that his boy was the proud owner of 26 guitars. He thought that was funny and ironic.

Danube. I have NO IDEA what you are talking about. You see, my friend. I have observed RADIO SILENCE!!!
All the best DoT.

Internet stalking:

"Stalking is a continuous process, consisting of a series of actions, each of which may be entirely legal in itself. Technology ethics professor Lambèr Royakkers writes that:

["Stalking] is a form of mental assault, in which the perpetrator repeatedly, unwantedly, and disruptively breaks into the life-world of the victim, with whom he has no relationship (or no longer has), with motives that are directly or indirectly traceable to the affective sphere. Moreover, the separated acts that make up the intrusion cannot by themselves cause the mental abuse, but do taken together (cumulative effect).

"CyberAngels has written about how to identify cyberstalking:

"'When identifying cyberstalking 'in the field,' and particularly when considering whether to report it to any kind of legal authority, the following features or combination of features can be considered to characterize a true stalking situation: malice, premeditation, repetition, distress, obsession, vendetta, no legitimate purpose, personally directed, disregarded warnings to stop, harassment, and threats.'"

The JOM reader can draw his own conclusions as to whether the offense has occurred at this site. Given the identities of some of the indivuals in the offending messages, I would expect that the FBI would take an interest.

Danube, tell us about your relationship with Josef Mengele!!! Do you approve of Richard Armitage wearing black socks on Tuesdays!!!
I was told that you had an insurance policy on your LAW OFFICE in building 7!! BUILDING 7!!!!

Jeff Dobbs

I made an offer yesterday for what's his name to contact me. The offer still stands.

You should take me up on that offer.

Jeff Dobbs

Why . . . it's almost like I just lost an hour.

Not sure what a comanche whipsong eagle rock dance looks like, but if it's anything like the Numu scalp dance, let's start the drums and count the coup.

I hate Daylight Savings Time.

In order to have patients in the OR by 6:30 am for certain elective surgeries which we do nerve block catheters for post pain relief, they need to meet me for their pre op evaluation at 5:30. For me to be able to have two cups of coffee and catch up with JOM before getting dressed and driving to the hospital, I need to get up at 4:30am. Which means tomorrow morning, it's going to be 3:30 am body-clockwise when I get up!

In an attempt to keep me from being a total zombie while attempting to render said patients unconscious on the first days of the time switch, I got up at 4:30 every morning this past week, though on vacation, and went to bed at 8 pm the past two nights.
And dragged my fanny out of bed at 4:30 EDT this morning, enduring the familiar feeling of nausea that always hits me when I am awake at these ungodly times.

(Yes, I can see why lawyers think they are smarter than doctors. ;-) )

Now, the only upside of government health care for me is that there is no way we will keep doing this. No way will there be catheters for post op pain. No starting cases at 7. No sirreee folks---I rotated at the VA as a student--we'll start the ORs at 9, and close them down by 3. Need a knee replacement---get on the list. You think anybody is going to care if you are in excruciating pain for the next eighteen months til your number comes up? Or that you get bumped for an "urgent" case, who just happens to be the mother-in-law of the local director of health policy? Nope.

So, that's why I can't hang out here at night, though for the record, I am all in with Jim Rhodes on Sarah Palin, appreciated the explanation of why she sounds like Marge from Fargo as far as who settled Wasilla, and am sending Matt's wonderful comment on the rhetorical skills of presidents and philosophers to my sons for their Sunday Morning Message from Mom.
The youngest had rhetoric as an ongoing part of the curriculum at the ranch college he attended for two years.
Bet they have it at Hillsdale too!

(This is a compliment)

You are the only doctor I'm not scared to death of.

I really really did not want this week's Pieces to end. It's great!

here we go;

Wallace would have been the alternative, Stalin's useful idiot or worse, we truly did dodge a bullet with Harry, Pendergrast man and all, our side was stuck once again with Top Men Dewey,

Jim Eagle

Woke up to the Beagles yapping. Let them out of their crate, made coffee, turned ont the news and came to JOM to read Clarice's Pieces.

Well done, Clarice. My empathy level indicator for these fools has hit its low-low mark.

Local tube in Osaka is saying that the 2 guys with the stolen passports bought their tickets together. I believe they also said that they somehow bought their tickets thru China Southern Airlines.

I want to know what that means---does it mean they flew on China Southern Airlines previously, or just purchased their tickets through them? Maybe Malaysian Air and China Southern Airlines had a code sharing agreement.

Beats me. But IMHO China Southern Airlines is a mediocre China based Airline. I say that because they lost their qual to fly us as passengers about a year ago, due to our crew-members being able to take photos of ice and snow on their wings prior to launch and China Southern not deicing, so with that info the Union demanded they be dropped as a carrier for us to ride on as passengers and the company concurred.

Apparently the investigators have video of the 2 guys using the stolen passports and thats being fed around to all the security agencies. Current time over here is about 09:30 at night. Reports are that 2 P-3 sub-hunting aircraft are inbound to help with the search and they are as experienced as anyone at locating large metallic structures under the ocean.

daddy - Many thanks for the great info and stories you've been relating re the Malaysian Air crash.

They have been tremendously interesting, and provided a unique insight not found anywhere else. Hope you have the time (and inclination) to continue updating us on your experiences and insights !

Jim Eagle

According to the Daily Mail strory:

The passengers being checked had all bought their tickets through China Southern Airlines.

It appears the the tickets linked to the Italian and Austrian passports were bought together in Thai baht at identical prices, according to China's official e-ticket verification system Travelsky. The ticket numbers are contiguous, which indicates the tickets were issued together.

Clarice - Thanks again for yet another great "Pieces" column for our Sunday morning reading's pleasure.

It is a moment of singular enjoyment, despite the neverending stories of oBOzo's ongoing transformation of America.

Thanks Pat4 and JiB.

Just for interest, deadheaded into Osaka today. As always, (for at least the last 5 years) upon arrival at Japan Customs our electronic fingerprints are checked and then a photo of ourselves is taken and checked against a database and against our Passport photo.

Malaysia has a fingerprint scanner at the Custom's counter but I have never seen it used. If they are checking photos it is below their desk and we can't see it, so entry and exit from Malaysia is always very casual and much more slack then Japan.

China does not check our fingerprints, and if they are examining our photos that is not obvious when standing in front of the Customs desk.

"Wallace would have been the alternative, Stalin's useful idiot or worse, we truly did dodge a bullet with Harry, "

Supposedly Roosevelt dumped Wallace for Truman because he knew he was dying, though maybe not so soon.

jimmyk on iPad

Did the story about those tickets say whether they were one-way? That would be a bit more ominous.

Vietnamese plane reporting finding suspected Malaysian plane fragments in the ocean.

Cecil Turner

Reports are that 2 P-3 sub-hunting aircraft are inbound to help with the search and they are as experienced as anyone at locating large metallic structures under the ocean.

This ain't my area of expertise, but I can't see how any sonar or MAD system is going to help. Maybe they could hear the underwater pinging of the black box, but that's about it, right?

China does not check our fingerprints, and if they are examining our photos that is not obvious when standing in front of the Customs desk.

And judging by the number of times I've been handed the wrong passport back (when getting checked in groups of 2-4), I'd suggest the photo examination is a bit on the cursory side.

"83,000 still without power in NC. 74,000 of them in my county.

Posted by: hit and run | March 09, 2014 at 12:30 AM"

I'm feeling for you H&R - being without power is a bitch. Ours was off for about 24 hours. Had to haul water from the pond to flush the toilets - lost the prime on the pump. Ice on everything. It was beautiful. I have become very spoiled and accustomed to flipping a switch and Voila! Lights, internet, TV, heat, hot water to shower with - I thank God for it all.

I think NC has another winter storm on the way - Thursday it will be there.

Lit the burn pile yesterday - all went well except for the one prog who kept crawling away into the woods.

That's what the Burmese tiger trap is for TIH.

I love you Ig - and yes - I should have had the trap ready but have just been so damn busy - I will not be caught out like that again - I will be prepared.

As General Sherman once said, "the only good prog is a roasted prog."

I wouldn't want to witness a catfight or anything, but CC was blowing me kisses yesterday.

@Danube - If you remember Truman then remember him accurately. I remember that he was booed publicly when throwing out the first ball to open the baseball season. By the end of his elected term he was quite unpopular.

Also he was a product of machine politics, too loyal to some of the people in his government and henpecked.

But in the two major decisions of his presidency, the bomb and McArthur, he was unquestionably right.

I guess Roger Ailes has decided Sunday mornings should be bash conservatives mornings? I tried watching that nothing burger Howard Kurtz's show and it was non stop bashing of Palin, Cruz, Paul and the cherry on top was Bob Costas.

I can't stand Kurtz and most of what they are now showing - O'Reilly, Hannity make me crazy.

We need a new station.

I do like Greta and Cavuto and love Megyn and Brett, and Judge Jeneane gives a great opening statement. But other than that...

Sandy the districts lie fallow while the capitol gorges itself daze

Most strongly agree.

A new network, Jane, I talked to some of the execs at CPAC 2013, when it was still in concept. One America is adding cable carriers in various states, but the idea that One America can add another viewpoint to the news, I welcome.

What year were we there together Sandy? 2012? 2011?

Sandy the districts lie fallow while the capitol gorges itself daze

2012, Jane.

That was a kick, and I really enjoyed being there with you and Windy Daze, as a stringer for your radio station... ! heh. (Did not like the current location as much, although it is a "better" venue..., it lacked the intimacy and ability to become part of the media as in 2012. Said differently, the loopholes were closed...)
