Not much else to say.

MarkO

Obama is lying.

GMax

JPOD is almost laughing at JFingK in this piece:

Kerry said something striking on Tuesday night: “I’m not going to get into the who, why, what, when, where, how of why we’re where we are today.”

Note he used the word “why” twice in this sentence, which is a dead giveaway that it’s the thing he really doesn’t want to get into. That’s because the answer is simple, and entirely devastating to his cause: The Palestinians don’t want a deal.

This is almost impossible for him and others like him to understand — in the same way that they find Vladimir Putin’s territorial grab in Crimea impossible to understand.

Kerry said with disbelief that Putin was acting like a 19th century man in a 21st century world, without grasping that Putin is trying to readjust the 21st century world to accommodate his 19th century vision of an expanding nationalist Russia.

Similarly, Kerry can’t grasp why Palestinian leaders would be utterly uninterested in making a deal with Israel that would give them a sovereign state. But it’s been clear for nearly 15 years that they have no interest in the burdens of statehood. They prefer outright war or cold war, and the continued immiseration and statelessness of the Palestinian people.

They don’t want to bear the responsibility for the conditions under which Palestinians live and the necessity of designing a conventional relationship between Palestine and its democratic neighbor on tedious but necessary issues like the use of water, natural resources, air space and maintaining border security.

That is why the new option of establishing a virtual Palestine — a state that exists only in the corridors of international institutions but not on the ground — is so alluring to them. It provides all the trappings of statehood and none of the obligations. It is the state granted by the Wizard of Oz, the equivalent of the diploma handed to the Scarecrow to provide him with external evidence of the brain he lacks.

There’s your “why.” Answers to the other questions Kerry refused to address — the who, what, when, where, and how of this disaster Kerry has visited upon himself — await a political satirist of the highest order.

Gibbs predicts employer mandate will be killed

http://www.benefitspro.com/2014/04/02/gibbs-predicts-employer-mandate-will-be-killed

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.— A former longtime advisor to President Barack Obama predicted Wednesday that the employer mandate — a key piece of Obamacare — will not survive.

So, will Obamacare's popularity go up or down when people have a mandate, but "corporations" don't?

My problem is that their are two Obamacares. There is the original fantasy Obamacare. That one was going to save the average family $2400 a year in premiums, lower the cost of all health care, improve the economy, reduce the budget, and have us all farting rainbows.

The other Obamacare is the one we got. That one will cost the treasury over $2 trillion and INCREASE premiums by more than $2400 for the average family, reduce the quality of healthcare while simultaneously reducing availability.

I agree that we should stop debating the original fantasy Obamacare. That has about as much merit as debating the fantasy "spontaneous" attack on our diplomats in Libya.

Happy, happy, joy, joy Ignatz

Not sure how they controlled for all the people who turn to vegetarianism only after they're diagnosed with something like cancer or allergies.

NK(withnewsoftware)

MaxB-- why should we ever let the LIVs forget the lies that the Dems sold in 2009-2010? They promised unicorn farts and all we got was the farts. $2T of new debt to pay for churning individuals from their own chosen plan to ObummerCare by kicking 5.5M off of their plan by banning it, add 1-2M previously uninsured with subsidies, add 1M 23-26yo to the parents plans becasue the kids can't get jobs, add 2-3M to medical welfare (medicaid) and soon tens of millions will be kicked off group employer plans when the mandate kicks in (why do you think Bobby Gibbs says the employer mandate must go!-- it kills HildaBeast) all the while everyone else's premiums go up. We should never ever let the voters forget what Obummercare has done to them.

Account Deleted

Ranger,

Isn't Gibbs offering grooming tips for a Norwegian Blue? Nov. 5 is the date the first political casualty reports for the 404Care Progressive Plague will be issued but it just marks the end of the beginning. The contagion is going to run through 2016 and the flesh wounds of those not removed this November are going to take on a rather gangrenous tinge.

Ig:

narciso

If they keep disabling tumblers on this puzzlebox, eventually Pinhead will not show,

NK(withnewsoftware)

Hit-- very good observation. Gibbs is desperate to be a HildaBeast crony and have all the associated access. He knows Obama/ObummerCare are death to the Clintonista Dems, he's trying to salvage something for that wing of the Dem Party... the white Lib professional Dems, which is his $$$ tree. He knows Obummer is trying to run them out of the Party.

Jeff Dobbs

Gibbs will land at one of the Alphabets probably some time after this year's election and will be slated to moderate a 2016 presidential debate.

NK(withnewsoftware)

BTW Hit-- I have no idea how to spell Stepha--whosits

Ranger

Rick,

I think this is a trial balloon for how the progs will take removing the Employer Mandate. They know that if they go through with implementation, the cancelation letters will make last fall look like a picnic. But the progs are wedded to the employer mandate and making companies "do the right thing." They put themselves in this box, now they are seeing if they can talk their way out of it.

narciso

Very good find, clarice,

http://www.sharylattkisson.com/articles.html

of course it begs the question what is an intelligence agency good for,

It's Kang or Kodos, I don't see any appreciable difference between them.

MaxB

NK,
The features you mention are the result of the Obamacare we got, not the original fantasy Obamacare. I agree. That is the Obamacare we should be debating.

Jane

Here is my lastest foil hat theory. ValJar or Hill paid off the FT Hood guy to shoot the place up to take the spotlight off of Morrel's testimony.

And it worked.

NK(withnewsoftware)

Ranger/RickB-- for me Gibbs/employer repeal is a symptom Dem war between the Obummer Progs and old white Lib Clintonistas for control of the Party. The Clintonistas are desperate to delay/suspend/kill the employer andate because it kills HildaBeast in'16.

narciso

Well no matter what Ed Klein said, I don't buy that line, what side is Podesta on, or Lew, they all become part of the Borg,

NK(withnewsoftware)

Of course both the Clintonista and the hardcore Progs are both enemies of freedom, both economic and political. But they are simultaneously competitors with each other. Personally I hope the Third World oriented Progs win the Dem Party; then we'll have clear choices between a conservative party and Prog Party. Look what that clarity has done in France.

This is the best part of Taranto's piece:

Obama's claim also gives the lie to the wishful notion that fatigue with the debate is a plus for ObamaCare and for the Democrat. If he really believed that, he'd want opponents to spend millions if not billions on ads keeping the debate going.
NK(withnewsoftware)

French Socialists are like the 19th Century Bourbons, I hope the USA Progs are just as clueless... of course the question is how much more damage they do before the voters kick them out.

Fallon-- maybe I'll watch him someday.

narciso

Well they spent close to a billion on the website, and at least another hundred million on the advertising since the site came on line, he's like Dr. Evil that way.

Danube on iPad

They have yet to say a single straightforward thing about this law. It is sickening to behold.

henry

What good does removing the employer mandate do? If all health plans must meet the ACA minimums, price increases will cause massive numbers of employers to drop their plans. Without grandfathering all employer plans at pre-ACA coverages DOOM is assured. The impact of ACA on premiums makes coverage unaffordable for the employers -- cancelling a mandate to penalize them for dropping insurance makes it more likely they will drop insurance. If this sets anything up for Hillary! it is a second bite at single payer (because the evil corporations put profits over health care).

narciso

hence the HellRaiser reference, of course they had to delay the mandate, Atkinson's short piece did much better then Milbank's blather on the subject,

NK(withnewsoftware)

Henry-- my guess is that what Gibb/Clintonistas want to do (pre-2016) is revoke the mandate and grandather all employer plans to minimize the effect on employer premiums and employers dumping insurance altogether. They hope they squeak by in '16, wait for the Repubs to screw up and lose the House/Senate again, then they vote in SP. That's just to guess though, I have a hard time thinking up evil Dem plans.

narciso

Well in practice, it doesn't work that way, the grandfathered plans become more expensive,
because that was the way was designed,

Account Deleted

"I have a hard time thinking up evil Dem plans."

That's cuz busting up the lifeboats to feed the boiler to run the pumps which aren't keeping up with the water flooding in indicates a certain lack of forethought. Ranger may be correct that Gibbs is just floating a trial lead balloon to test prog flatworm reaction but I go with Henry's snap analysis of probable employer reaction.

They're just drilling more holes in the bottom of the boat to let the water run out faster.

They don’t want to bear the responsibility for the conditions under which Palestinians live and the necessity of designing a conventional relationship between Palestine and its democratic neighbor

I think the bigger factor is that they don't want to recognize Israel, and therefore don't want established borders (other than borders that obliterate Israel, of course). Their goal is one state, not two.

NK(withnewsoftware)

Hey don't look at me, i don't make up these Dem plans. I agree that suspending the employer mandate and grandfathered plans will not 'work' because I doubt the insurers will offer grandfathered plans, and many employers are sick of Obummercare and will bail on medical coverage anyway. But of course the Dems don't care about whether it 'works' just the votes in '14 and '16. This is just part of the 'fix it' meme. I continue to believe ObummerCare was a poisoned chalice for the Dems.

I agree about the bold and the italics - both should be used for brief quotes and/or emphasis only, but alas many of our commenters use their own "style guides," which adds to their uniqueness (it also helps one identify them immediately).

I prefer to use block quotes via the Firefox toolbar for long quotations, because it is so simple to do.

And, to quote Jane from Hit's links above: We don't need more stinkin' rules. So, there ya go! lol.

What about the capricious use of commas? Huh?

the IRS blinks on regulating 501 C (4) entities due to an avalanche of comments:

During the comment period, which ended in February, we received more than 150,000 comments. That’s a record for an IRS rulemaking comment period. In fact, if you take all the comments on all Treasury and IRS draft proposals over the last seven years and double that number, you come close to the number of comments we are now beginning to review and analyze.

It’s going to take us a while to sort through all those comments, hold a public hearing, possibly repropose a draft regulation and get more public comments. This means that it is unlikely we will be able to complete this process before the end of the year.
