Bill Maher tackles the Mozilla debacle and comes out for something or other:
"There Is A Gay Mafia -- If You Cross Them, You Do Get Whacked"
On behalf of Italians, gays, and especially gay Italians, allow me to object. A public boycott, however misguided, hardly amounts to leg-breaking, arson, kidnapping, or murder. And why pick on Italians with the Mafia reference? Why not get with the 21st century, California and the Pacific Rim and claim there is a gay Triad?
Every now and then a trickle of truth issues from Maher's mouth.

Eich's resignation didn't stem from his support of a political campaign that compared gay men to paedophiles. It happened because he gave money to political campaigns with close ties to racist groups.

People can give money to whomever they want to support. It is our individual freedom that enables us to do this. Once again McCutcheon decided this week by the Supreme Court has to remind stupid, brain dead dems of the founding freedoms our beloved country began with in 1776. Dems need to get a clue. This isn't going to change no matter how much mewling and gnashing of teeth that they engage in. Even King Obama in the immortal words of the past "Can't Touch This"

Speaking of the Mutts, one of their former pitchers, Mike Pelfrey was on the mound for the Twins yesterday in the Tribe's home opener. As usual Big Pelf was cruising along like the second coming of Walter Johnson when he reached a certain pitch count and became the reincarnation of Victor Cruz and batting practice ensued.
Ron Gardenhire seemed to be caught unaware but it was no surprise to anybody who'd witnessed some of his prior meltdowns in Queens.

I don't believe for one second that Maher, or Sullivan, or Friedersof (however the heck you spell it; it's not as though he deserves the respect of having his name spelled correctly anyway) are actually upset about the firing, or think it's wrong.
What bothers them is that it looks bad, and that it's a step too far and too fast. As Rick says in Casablanca, "It's poor salesmanship."
I very much doubt that any of them object to opponents (or even insufficently enthusiastic supporters) of gay marriage losing jobs or being publicly attacked. They're just self-aware enough to know that the LIV hordes aren't quite there yet, and they don't want to upset things.

Mika is just ,well, hopeless..Idolizes Obama to the point where I throw up a bit in my mouth.
Jim Jordan tried to talk sense to a guy testifying about how 60,000 sign up goal after 73,000 loss is a net loss to no avail. These people are laser focused on spreading the lies. "We do too have more people signed" is their mantra, no matter what the truth and math tells them. Rand, the report was right. Just under a million new sign-ups. I don't count Medicaid people because they should have signed them up without this god-forsaken law. Upending the whole system for such a paltry number is appalling.Everyone who voted for it should pay the price of losing their job and then they must be made to enroll in it.
I have a theory. In the future O-care will be one of many possible options and I think individual states with a Repub president will dump it and get their own program like Jindal in Louisiana,
I think Sibelius thought all states would follow like sheep. Boy did she underestimate the american spirit.

I got a call this afternoon from a phone solicitor for the Republican National Committee trying to get me to "re-up". His spiel was to encourage me to contribute so "conservative candidates" could win in November. I curtly informed him that I had little confidence in the RNC's ability to identify conservatives, and was therefore limiting my giving directly to candidates of my choice who I believed met my criteria for conservatives. I also told him that I was fully informed and followed campaigns intently.
Interestingly, he had no canned comeback for that.

The lawyers chastised in the case cathyf linked may well have had the last laugh. Here's part of the dope from Wiki:
On May 11, 2009, Judge Kent was sentenced to 33 months in prison for lying to investigators about sexually abusing two female employees. Dick DeGuerin, Kent's attorney, said the judge would retire from the bench because of a disability, rather than resign, thereby enabling Kent to keep receiving his $169,300 annual salary for life.[2] That did not satisfy the leaders of the House Judiciary Committee, Representatives John Conyers Jr., (D-Mich.) and Lamar Smith (R-Tex.), who demanded that Kent resign immediately or face impeachment.[3]
Judge Kent submitted his resignation on June 2, 2009, with the proviso that it would not take effect for a full year. This angered the membership of the House Judiciary Committee, which voted unanimously to send four Articles of Impeachment to the full House of Representatives on June 10, 2009.[4] The articles were passed on June 19, 2009,[5] making Judge Kent the first federal judge to be impeached since Walter L. Nixon, Jr. in 1989.[6] Kent thereafter submitted a new letter of resignation to the Senate on June 25, 2009, taking effect on June 30, 2009.[7][8] On June 30, President Barack Obama accepted his resignation.[9] On July 20, the House of Representatives passed a resolution[10] asking the Senate to end former Judge Kent's trial. Two days later, the Senate agreed to the resolution.[11]

Well, heck. My detour this afternoon kinda touches on both of the last two threads, but I'll put it here as not to distract too much.
Went down to Tuscaloosa for the Tri-Delta father-daughter lunch, which was held outdoors, and it was cold. High of only 66 degrees for 5th of April. Very unusual. Nice, though.
Anyway, on the way back, I took a quick turn on the road less traveled to pick up some whisky for a friend from a well-regarded distiller in Cullman county. Cruising through downtown Cullman, I ran across the church pictured below. Stunning. The Sacred Heart Catholic Church - a superb example of German Romanesque revival, built in 1916.
After a few ecclesiastic pics, I moved toward the other spirits. Old man had cooked up some corn (although decidedly not in season) and mixed up some apples with the mash and the result is rather, er, warming.
