What strokes is he missing out on?

Threadkiller

Excuses, excuses.

Maybe his trip back to DC is so he can announce how tough it has been. Evil republicans never adored him and it led to drug dependency. "You won't have the black guy with a funny name to kick around anymore"

He will be cheered on as a hero for stepping aside, going to rehab, and allowing the country to heal itself. He is depressed and needs counselling and coddling.

Makes sense if it is a popularity contest.

It used to be that people who sought the adoration of special interest groups were simply known as politicians.

Protesters believe the media has started to confuse the difference between themselves and the looters. Fights have begun on the streets as well as social media with some believing this has become similar to a game of chess.

According to one peaceful protester, several of them literally put their bodies in between the looters and the different businesses. She feels their efforts were forced after several police officers got into their cars and drove away.

Imagine that - police department vilified for days, spat upon, suffering rock throwing and worse, relieved of primary responsibility by preening Governor bringing in a State Trooper who seems to think all that was required was a coke and his smile and lawlessness would vanish, and then express outloud without any self awareness that police don't seem that interested in engaging in the quagmire anymore.

Apparently, when an OPE operative suggested the media sees the Obama White House as “done”, and “old news”, Jarrett’s eyes flashed indignantly as she shook her head from side to side, her right pointer finger tapping the top of a desk several times with enough force it echoed inside  the small White House conference room.

“They think we’re done?  Not quite. Not yet. Not even close.”

Who knows?

Barbara

It is regrettably interesting how Obama and Holder have inserted the federal authorities before any of the facts are revealed in this case. Obama's early involvement and use of the word "murder" to describe the death of Michael Brown poured gasoline on the fire with the expected results.

It's also unfortunate that the media has picked up the politically correct term "civil unrest" that local governments now use to replace the more accurate word "riot" to describe the public mayhem that has followed the shooting. Crowds are allowed to congregate after dark, to loot and burn. Have these people ever heard of a curfew? Have they considered the effectiveness of the national guard as opposed to that captain of state police whose contribution to crowd control was to stand back and do nothing? I suppose not, because their purpose appears to be to perpetuate the riots night after night until this case is so muddled, no one dare speak the truth.

Well, sanity prevailed after the Zimmerman case. Calls for calm prevented any serious public disturbance. It almost seems that this rioting and criminal behavior has been dormant since the verdict in the earlier case, and that this incident has allowed it to erupt. President Obama and his use of unwise rhetoric to describe both events only made the situations worse. Moreover, his direct interference in Ferguson has undermined the local and state authorities placing the peaceful resolution of this case in jeopardy, as well as compromising future policing efforts in this locale.

If the action Perry requested the DA to take was legal ...
it was ...

If Perry's action in response to her refusal was legal ...

Then the 1st Amendment protects Perry's speaking his intentions.

There is precedent for that analysis.

What the anti-Perry faction is thinking ...
... the law in question was amended after to precedent to include "unlawful". Then later amended to remove that word.

They plan to say adding then removing the term indicates intent to overturn the precedent.

TK, north St Louis is where the worst slum in the US was -- Pruitt-Igoe -- until they tore it down in the late 70s. It produced boxing's Spinks brothers and many body bags. St Louis had the highest homicide rate in the US in those days, mostly in the north side (with some mob hits on the south side). Consider it the part of East St Louis on the MO side of the river. Back then, Normandy was a troubled suburb adjacent to St Louis and Ferguson was white blue collar. Apparently the whites left when the auto plants shut down (e.g. GM's Corvette plant used to be near there).

DebinNC

FOX: "[Chief] Jackson spent more than 30 years with the St. Louis County Police Department before taking over the 53-officer force in Ferguson, a mostly black city of 21,000, four years ago. While working for St. Louis County, he led a drug task force and was also a SWAT team supervisor, airplane and helicopter instructor pilot, undercover detective and hostage negotiator."

Being 2/3 black, Ferguson most likely won't reelect Jackson, who might have no interest in continuing anyway. But he seems to be a good man, and an accomplished one too imo. Can't say the same for Dem Gov Jay Nixon.

Only now will witnesses be called to talk with the FBI and I only wonder how 'colored' their recollections will be after recent rioting events.

Ferguson-Florissant School District announced Wednesday that, due to safety and security concerns, classes would not resume for the school year on Aug. 14 as planned, CBS St. Louis reported. The first day of classes has been moved to Monday, Aug. 18.

To many children in Ferguson, the elongated summer break is not cause for celebration.

"I was crying," London Hawkins, a 5-year-old who lives near the location where protests took place Wednesday night, told KMOV News 4. "There was fighting last night, and then I missed school."

Many students in Ferguson rely on meals provided in school, and the delay in the start of classes means more time having to endure empty bellies.

Gov. Nixon declares state of emergency, imposes curfew in Ferguson

Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon declared a state of emergency and imposed a curfew Saturday in the St. Louis suburb of Ferguson where black teenager Michael Brown was shot to death by a white police officer a week ago.

No mention of Gov. Nixon's party affiliation in the piece.

Extraneus
Nixon said at a press conference that though many protesters were making themselves heard peacefully, the state would not allow a handful of looters to endanger the community. The curfew will run from midnight to 5 a.m.

Nixon also said Saturday the U.S. Department of Justice is beefing up its investigation of the shooting.

Missouri State Highway Patrol Capt. Ron Johnson, who is in charge of security in Ferguson, said there were 40 FBI agents going door-to-door talking to people who might have seen or have information about the shooting.

Nixon and Johnson spoke at a church in Ferguson, where they were interrupted repeatedly by people demanding justice and objecting to the curfew.

Johnson assured those in attendance that police would communicate with protesters and give them ample opportunity to observe the curfew.
