DD!! pitiful effort at 11:03. Go back to Prog Central and get better material for trolling. Then we'll talk. Or you can just get drunk!

Endangered Dems push Iraq escalation

What's the cruelest way to pay them back for the past 13 years?

Rick B

WaPo on Begich Own Goal

Rasmussen will publish results on a Louisiana poll today showing Landrieu at 41% and Cassidy at 44%. 41% for an incumbent is not a sign of health.

GMax

Funny the prog hero of 2008, the sawed off runt at 538 says he has a Republican wave as a distinct possibility. I guess the shine is off the halo, now? You just cant speak reality to the reality based community it seems. Go back to passing feathers, instead of the gas you pass here.

Ignatz

It's amusing when the Dem victory hopes become "we're only going to lose in November not be swept away by another tsunami".

Extraneus
“Largely overlooked in the back and forth about what is being said and done (and not done) on the strategy for dealing with ISIS are the thoughts of the U.S. troops being deployed to Iraq. Rarely do we get a glimpse into their thoughts, but I received an email from a friend – a special operator who is in contact with his fellow soldiers who have been deployed to Iraq – that provides some insight. My friend said it would be okay to pass along what he’s hearing anonymously: ‘I'm getting notes from the guys over in these operations centers in Iraq. Frustration and confusion reign. Their commander in chief has deployed them back into harm’s way with a defensive mission to only defend US facilities against ISIS, that it's not a US problem to solve, and the Iraqis must get their act together politically. Now today he says we are going to destroy and degrade ISIS, and in the same sentence that we are going to only manage them. Then we have our Vice President in a Howard Dean moment. My favorite quote of the day from an operator downrange ‘Chase them to the Gates of Hell? How the F$@k are we going to do that when we can't even leave the front gate of our base!?’” Interesting perspective from someone redeployed to Iraq.” – Bret Baier

(Same link as above.)

Miss Marple

Extraneus, It is my personal opinion that the democrats should be totally ignored on subjectys of national security and national defense.

They are either incompetent at it, not understanding consequences of their preferred positions, or are actively undermining war efforts for political gain.

They have proven this by only supporting military action when their guy was in the White House, and their obvious undermining of the war in Iraq (and now Afghanistan) proves they are uncaring about people in the Middle East or the security of this country.

NK

Ext-- that quote from the grunt in iraq shows that the grunts in Iraq know a hell of a lot more about the world than the whole Obummer laugh circus, Obummer, Biden, Kerr, rice, the whole bunch.

NK

Illinois-- our friend in ChiTown remains convinced that The Machine will re-install Quinn as Gov, by using a new same day voter registration law in Illinois. It ain't voter fraud if it's 'legal'.

Jane

The DC Court has agreed to hear the Obama decision en Banc. Since Obama stacked the court we will lose it. Questionable if the SC will take it up. It's teh one about state exchanges.

GMax

With two more polls released in KY yesterday, both showing McConnell comfortably ahead, I think its fair to say Allison Blunderagain Grimes is yet another prog wet dream. Pity.

Miss Marple

Marie Harf makes a fool of herself again, this time on Twitter:

https://twitter.com/marieharf/status/507544600769462272

NK

Jane-- I think SCOTUS definitely takes the case in the 15-16 Term because of the federalism aspects, and to clarify the Chevron standard for IRS overreach. This is an IRS reg, a perfect opportunity for SCOTUS to stomp on overreaching regulation.

NK

Wait, the Harf thing works for the taxpayer and she cheertweets State dept spokeliars and attacks private citizens. For real?

DrJ

Happy birthday, rse and Porch Jr.!

rse,

NSF is creating I-Node grants that will further accelerate high school as more vocational now...

I think you are way off base here. NSF is under congressional pressure to commercialize more of the University research it funds. In response, NSF has introduced a number of programs to assist faculty in doing so.

i-Corp is one of those programs, and overall it is a good one. I can see the results in the small business grants I review: those who have gone through i-Corp do a much better job on the business portion -- the IP, freedom to operate, the market, pricing, and company build-out.

It is strictly about getting technology out of the University and into the market. It has nothing to do with high school.

In fact, the program has been successful enough that NIH is adopting it too.

I have some quibbles with certain of the emphases, particularly since NSF's time frame for commercialization is too short for some technologies. Software can be fast, but the life sciences technologies can take more time than they would like (or fund!).

Also, I think many faculty are better at doing the pure research and should not commercialize the work themselves. So far it seems to be a self-selecting pool.

NK

Let's send Harf to ISIS land, and see if her little blond head is chopped into a basket... after she is anally raped of course. hey.... that's how the religion of piece rolls.

Comanche Voter

Well as for Asia, 60% of small potatoes (our shrunken military) ain't much as it were.

OTOH for Europe 40% of small potatoes is even less. Those free riders on Pax Americana are going to be uneasy riders now. Based on what Russian troops did to Polish and German women at the tail end of WW II, I'd tell the Europeans to lock up your wives and daughters.

NK

The 1945 Berlin rapes by the Red Army. A monstrous bit of 20th century history.

Nice to see Harf slaughtered on twitter.
Didn't see one comment in support.

Captain Hate

Harf used to work at the CIA; no wonder intelligence work has been in the toilet. Maybe she was Plame's replacement.

Ignatz

Our choices in Iraq are terrible.

If we destroy the IS, Iraq becomes what it was already becoming even quicker, a vassal state of Iran.

If we don't a third of it will still be a vassal state of Iran and the rest will be a ruthless, destabilizing, expansionist sunni terrorist state, emboldening other like minded jihadists in North Africa and most worryingly, Pakistan.

Islam delenda est.

How does one say about larf, unpossible, interesting about that

NK

I refuse to be optimistic because of the repub's putrid political operation, but the Dem senators up for re-election are sure hitting the ISIS panic button. NK,

The Progressive Fascists would do better to propose 9/11 as National Concealed Carry Day. I don't really need access to Senate intelligence briefings to surmise the probability of adherents to ISIS already being here = 1.

Considering the DC Court breaking long-standing precedent to re-hear, the SC should take up the case.

Thanks for the Pebble update, Iggy. We were gone this year. I liked the '51 Lancia Aurelia from the Carrera Panamericana especially. That was an insane race.

I've seen a few of the cars over the years. Not many survived.

The MSM seems to still be in Vacance mode. Not much on the NATO meeting, not that it means much. Not much on Ukraine or the ME either. I don't know if many of them even have reporters in these places any more.

Real reporting has become a very dangerous business in much of the world and those bar bills in DC and NYC get expensive.

Extraneus

MarkO coming out of retirement?

Marlene

Harf reminds me of the daughter's 5th grade teacher. Snotty, superior and dumb. The daughter used to read the newspaper front to back at breakfast every morning before going to school. In 5th grade she would go to class and tell Mrs.Y everything she had read in the morning paper. The daughter would come home from school, roll her eyes and say Mrs.Y doesn't know anything about current events.

rse

Dr J-that's why I put the link up, to get input.

Whatever good results you have seen though does not change the fact that every state has now adopted sector strategies, th feds are pushing Career Pathways and workplace skills as the high school emphasis for all, and this creates that web that fully intends to plan economies and has said so.

To get at small and medium-sized businesses the way multinationals are already compromised, the Trilateral Commission in their first paper on Industrial Policy in the US that came out in 1979 from a 78 conference created the term Enterprise Corporatism.

I am just putting these on the radar because whatever good you have seen, many policymakers are up to no good with these initiatives. Many a parent has begun to recognize they have no leverage on K-12 with legislators because they are addicted to all these other tainting funds.

lyle

Let's send Harf to ISIS land, and see if her little blond head is chopped into a basket... after she is anally raped of course. hey.... that's how the religion of piece rolls.

Geez, NK. You chided me yesterday for joking about A. Sullivan climaxing on Zero's face and then you write this?

Captain Hate

I still think Harf and Psaki got put in their current positions because Clutch Cargo didn't want to be upstaged by anybody obviously smarter and less obnoxious than he is.

MarkO on laptop in hearing pretending to work.

The report of my retirement was an exaggeration.

DrJ

rse,

whatever good you have seen, many policymakers are up to no good with these initiatives.

That may be, but I don't see what any of this has to do with i-Corp, which was the topic of your post.

DR J-that link is from a center that exists solely to push the idea of participatory governance using the Internet.

The concept is called e-Republic. If they believe that I-Corp is conducive to their vision of a new kind of polity, then I-Corp in more minds than mine has another function that the admirable work you may be seeing.

The Center for Digital Government is excited about I-Corp. That should give us pause. They leove to feature Kasim reed and Sacramento mayor, Kevin Johnson for their vision. I-Corp is being touted by them.

It was the slip that the Center for Digital Ed was just a dba that has led me to all the deliberative democracy work I have been highlighting.

Well so much for a certain poster theory of a floor for Zero. Gallup just released has him at:

GMax

Drudge seems to have caught the drop in Gallup too, has a topline note with a tag "LOWEST of his Presidency" which I thought was true but did not check...

NK

Well gallup 38% is still in my 38/39% floor range.
I was persuaded by RickB yesterday that 34/35% is possible with a 20% equities selloff, which peels off High Income Libs who are currently reveling in their portfolios.

Marlene

This morning I read an article on the Manchester (NH) Union Leader website that they had posted from the Daily Mail. Sotloff has a NH connection because he attended Kimball Union Academy. I've been wondering why the grandson of Holocaust survivors would develop an affinity for Islam. Jack or narciso,do the FL papers have any reporting? He attended UCF and his parents live in FL.

The D.C. Circuit has been corrupted. There is absolutely no way that case met the requirements for an en banc hearing.

That stacking play has done serious and irreparable damage.

Captain Hate

CT, Tammy Bruce and Mark Levin have both made that point about the ginning up of war weariness. Tammy was particularly pointed by stating that other than active duty people and their families, nobody's opinions should really count.

lyle

(An observation bolstered by the relative non-coverage of Afghanistan casualties and relative public indifference.)

And no visible "anti-war" movement. A house in my neighborhood had a "Stop The War" sign in their front yard from '03 until early '09. Can't for the life of me figure out what happened...

Where did the grim milestone of US casualties go anyway??

Beasts of England

When it rains, it pours. After I answered my LinkedIn requests and returned a few texts, I got an email from my other favorite customer wanting to kick-off a new task next week!! :)

Awesome news for my bank account; kinda bad news for my 'day job' (which I guess I need to wind down and wrap up); but really terrible news for my trip to Tampa Bay. After this new delay, I expect she'll cancel any and all future invitations. Oh, well...

Captain Hate

That stacking play has done serious and irreparable damage.

Wasn't that part of a deal brokered by McCain and company?

NK

'much of' but not all. The Baathist/Sunni insurgency was a nasty surprise, and cost the lives and limbs of several thousand of our best young men. Obviously the shameless media trumped it up for their own evil purposes, but honest critics made a case of why the insurgency cost did not justify propping up al-Maliki. Hell, Rumsfeld felt that way, and tried to resign.

Jim Eagle

CT,

And not a peep from the Rand Paul front.

Harf, Psaki, Earnest, Rhodes, Vietor, et.al. demonstrate the juvinile behavior that is so prevelant in the regime. They also only parrot their master which should be one of the scenes in an upcoming "Hitler Hears ISIS Isn't At War With Us".

lyle

Even if he were not part of the brokered deal, I'd believe it anyway, CH.

“I think that I’m a better speechwriter than my speechwriters. I know more about policies on any particular issue than my policy directors. And I’ll tell you right now that I’m gonna think I’m a better political director than my political director.”

Obama is just trying like hell to make a "I'm a better spokesperson than my spokespersons" self-adulation come true by hiring the dimmest knives in the shed.

(or to use an old Cecil classic, these people are not the "sharpest bulbs in the deck".)

Obama's really giving it a go with these folks, but then, he also doesn't let them use teleprompters, so....

It's all so damned predicable. Nothing about weakass Dems and their spineless administration. Let's talk about the other party.

Captain Hate

Hard to say, NK, but I want to point out that once again King Roger and his court of dunces have come up with a rule change that makes the job of officials more difficult to do well. The NFL players association is already a joke so maybe during the next negotiations the owners will throw them a bone of doing away with the rule while bending them over on everything else so they can call it "a draw where everyone sacrificed something" while laughing to the bank.

Good Morning!

Don't know what you guys are talking about today, but I think TM might consider another exciting post on experiments with mice:

Scientists Use Sex to Override Bad Memories in Rats

First, they mapped the memories of a group of male mice...

Then they activated those particular neurons when the male mice were, ahem, “active” with attractive female mice...

The result?...

lyle

I'm beginning to think I was wrong about Rothman at HA:

Nearly six years after George W. Bush left the White House, the Obama White House has been completely unable to even approach his ability to craft an international coalition. They ruthlessly mocked the size of the 48-member strong force that engaged in combat and nation building in Iraq in 2003 because it did not include France and Canada, but defend the execution of perfectly unilateral military action in Iraq today and demand you consider it consistency.

But this is not the only language of the Bush years Blinken appropriated this week. Appearing on CNN on Wednesday, the deputy national security advisor told Wolf Blitzer that the fight against ISIS may be – like the once-defunct War on Terror – a generational struggle. Except he did not say that. Blinken said that throttling the nascent Islamic State in the crib is a project for the next occupant of the Oval Office.

“This, as the President has said, is going to have to be a sustained effort,” Blinken said. “It’s going to take time, and it will probably go beyond even this administration to get to the point of defeat.”

Translation: We are dithering jagoffs who hate foreign policy getting the way of transforming this country into the Utopia we've always dreamed of.

Miss Marple

lyle, This administration is like a pair of gay guys worrying about which countertops to put in the kitchen and trying to find just the right window treatment for the den while the roof is leaking and the septic tank is backing up.
