James D.

I somewhat don't blame them after Ferguson. A person can be smart - people are dumb and panicky.

Sometimes. But most often when "they" have done their best to foment grievance and anger and hatred among those people. Even more so among people who they have done their best to dumb down for going on three generation now in every way possible.

narciso

so this outbreak, began at the end of last year, in a small village in Guinea's South East

I dunno MM, I really like "Jehovah Johnson", although he'll never be as cool as this guy:

Beasts of England

Wasn't this administration quick on the draw to shut down US flights in and out of Israel over a couple of rockets, but flights from Africa possibly carrying a dreaded virus not so much...

Extraneus

I don't consider myself a germophobe, but I hate touching faucets or door handles in public toilets or anywhere else, or shopping carts, etc., and I have an easily defended house with a generator in the middle of 10 acres surrounded by wetlands that I don't live in and have been trying to sell, and a big dog. Guess I'll just camp out there with my guns if Ignatz starts getting the willies, and only touch my wife every 21 days after that.

In the meantime, I do think it's worth thinking about investment opportunities. Anything else besides Amazon so far?

Jeh Johnson is named for a Liberian chief who saved Jeh's grandfather's life when his grandfather (president of Fisk College) was on a League of Nations mission to Africa.

I read earlier that the NBC guy got something "splashed on him."

Here's a handy chart showing Ebola outbreaks, total cases, total deaths and the case-fatality rate going back to 1976. It was produced on August 18th so you have to imagine the vertical axis being ten times as tall today. The largest previous outbreak was in Uganda and killed 400+. The current death toll is reported as 3,400 which exceeds the total of all previous outbreaks taken together.

Sometimes "This time it's different." is actually true.

The Founders' only intention concerning qualifications for visas (which didn't exist then) was that they would be established by congress.

Yeah, but the government is always fighting the previous war. With the previous war's anticipated tactics and weapons.

DOOM!

--Guess I'll just camp out there with my guns if Ignatz starts getting the willies, and only touch my wife every 21 days after that.--

Wait....who's gonna be touching your wife every 21 days?

Eric in Boise

How about an investment in LifeSecure ?

Jane

Sue I was all over the Jehovah explanation too. It's even more interesting if the roots are Liberian.

Isn't it interesting that all of a sudden these Obama people are on Fox.

Yes - absolutely fascinating and all in the last 6 days. I don't think it's because Fox has the biggest audience - the administration hates the audience- and their failures on air are pretty massive - but I cannot think of another reason for ValJar to allow it to happen.

Jane

I've said this far too many times this week, but has anyone else come to the conclusion that they cannot believe a word the government says? And does that realization make you feel as weird as it makes me?

Janet

TK's 7:21 is something...
While the southern border gets some news coverage...there are thousands & thousands flowing into our county through our State Dept. that seem pretty sketchy.
If this admin. doesn't even want to keep out people that have ebola...can you imagine who all they're letting in.

Jack is Back!

Jane,

I don't bekieve a thing coming our of this government because everything is biased political rather than information you can use.

This may be Beckel's surprise albeit not the one he expected.

Ignatz

Since they finally figured out HIV first crossed from chimps to humans in 1920 in what is now Kinshasa I wonder how long ebola has actually been around as an actual human disease.
Interesting that it apparently began in the Congo also.

Threadkiller

I believe one thing they say, Jane.

Centralcal on iPad

I don't know the motive behind the Obama people appearing on Fox all of a sudden, but it sure does show how incompetent they all are when questioned by non-sycophant news people.

The redhead and the Barbie doll with giant glasses are no match for Megyn Kelly.

Captain Hate

The only reason I can think that the Ferret would let State Department Barbie and Bobblehead Psaki square off against Megyn is she wants the LIVs to get outraged at how mean Mrs Kelly is to those sweet young smiley faces. Or she just hates those white girls.

henry

Jane, not believing the man was the vibe when I grew up (Johnson, Nixon, Ford, Carter), it seems normal. The difference as many here noted, is those guys at least liked America while this mob does not.

You'd think with the incompetence on display that they'd opt for the smallest footprint possible.

It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to open one's mouth and remove all doubt.

Jane

I believe one thing they say, Jane.

What's that?

Henry, I think I have always had a healthy skepticism about government. But this is different. Now I feel like government is the enemy and I have to protect myself from them. I've never felt that way before.

If you guys tell me I am paranoid, I will feel better.

And I have now made good on the bet.

Ignatz

Lena Dunham;
I was raped by a Republican!
If you want to see the confused, effed up mind of the people who wish to rule over us give it a read.
It would be interesting to see a JOM poll on who thinks what she describes is rape (leaving aside the question of whether anything this troubled nitwit says has ever really happened)

Centralcal on iPad

Don't look at me for reassurance, Jane. I feel exactly like you do.

Captain Hate

You're not paranoid, Jane; I wouldn't trust them as far as I could kick them. They are the enemy and will be until they can convince me otherwise. The burden of proof is on them.

henry

The government is only looking out for itself, not sure it's the enemy, but sure it is no longer an ally.

Danube on iPad

It was Jeremiah Johnson.

miss Marple

Captain Hate, I agree with you and Jane and centralcal.

Never felt like this, even under Clinton.

Captain Hate

If Lena Dunham went to Oberlin there's a much better than even chance she's a complete idiot. I've had a couple friends that went there and one of them is pretty smart. The other died earlier in the year so I won't say anything negative about him.

Oberlin is also where they had the KKK hoax. That right there tells you how much credence you should give Dunham.

Beasts of England

Inserting foot? Like the MSNBC idiots blaming the NRA for the Ebola threat because it helped block the Surgeon General nominee. That kinda stupid?

Stephanie accidentally OnT?

The burden of proof is on them.

I've felt that way for years, Jane, but it was always more of a cloud of trouble just over the horizon with what I thought were sensible people keeping it at that distance. Now those folks I thought were helping man the horizon are turning their backs and guiding the fools into town.

Captain Hate

Not in their courts anymore... see college campuses for proof.

I'm glad I didn't have a son to send to college because at a place less conservative than Hillsdale College there's a very real chance a male could get railroaded for a nonexistent crime. It happened to a friend of my daughter's at Columbia accused of a bogus rape charge by an unstable individual and, even though she's a lib, she was really upset by what a scam it was.

Ignatz

If somebody posts a pic of Lena Dunham in a micro bikini.....fair warning, they're dead.

Jane

You're not paranoid, Jane; I wouldn't trust them as far as I could kick them. They are the enemy and will be until they can convince me otherwise. The burden of proof is on them.

At the risk of revealing how nuts I am, is it hitting you like it is hitting me? I can't say I've ever believed the government was on my side. I've always believed it was incompetent. But this is the first time I've actually believed that on the drop of a dime it would be out to get me.

I don't think I'm on the list, but I have no doubt that I easily could be.

Again, tell me I am paranoid.

Jane, DoT is posting the name of the Robert Redford character from the picture above.

Beasts of England

@Ig: She was cruising on a very dangerous cocktail of alcohol, cocaine, and Xanax. She admitted talking dirty to him after the first segment of the encounter. She misses her own age calculation at the time by four years. The statute of limitations for rape is 20 years in the state it occurred and she hasn't filed charges.

Verdict: She's full of shit and a liar.

I probably couldn't tell you without a face to face conversation but I agree with everything you've written. Although I hated Clinton easily as much as 404, there was no way something blatant like the IRS scandal would happen under him. Despite my very low opinion of Janet Reno, she wasn't shy about siccing a special prosecutor on Slick. She was terrible on Waco and Elian Gonzalez, though.

Jane: Skepticism and distrust is increased for me, also, but what's actually changed is that I no longer find I have the same respect for rules, the regulations, or the law. That's not to say I'm actively defying any - just that where necessary I'd previously care a lot whether I and others actually comply, now I only care to ensure I don't get in trouble. It's a completely different - and uncomfortable - motivation.

I expect this attitude shift has no significant manifestations in my day to day life... but I sort of dread my next jury duty encounter. How will I look at a prosecutor's case now that I can no longer give the same priority to weighing evidence against the 'letter of the law'? I expect I'll find out at some point. I get called a lot.

Jane

I'm bullish on Aussie wax emporia.

Captain Hate

I think the lower part just serves to keep sand out of the cooch. If that.

Here's why I'm not as worried about the left's fascism as some of y'all are: to implement the worst traits, they need popular buy-in. They don't have it.

I hang out at a lefty bar once or twice a week at happy hour - for the live music. There are half a dozen hardcore progs there. They've gone from worshipping Teh JEF and this administration to not even mentioning it. They want no part of those idiots.

I've never met Jeh Johnson, Jane. I saw Rudy Giuliani praising him as an excellent Asst. U.S. Atty whom Rudy hired for the job. I was curious about his name and found that info on Wiki.

Later Friday afternoon, the UK Daily Mail reported the woman, Youngor Jallah, and her family are starting to show signs of illness but have not received instructions from the CDC on what to do. The family was waiting to hear back from the CDC from a phone call for help placed Thursday.

The Mail reporter contacted the CDC Friday on behalf of the family and reported, “An official said she would pass on the information. “

Jallah cared for the Texas Ebola victim, Liberian national Thomas Duncan, at the Dallas area apartment of her mother Louise Troh. Jallah was joined at the apartment with the Ebola victim by her four children and her partner, Aaron Yah.

The Mail reported some members of the family are to show signs of illness.

“Ms Jallah repeatedly wiped her eyes – which appeared sticky – with a paper towel while a child sneezed and coughed in the background. While it is unlikely to be related to the Ebola virus, they did not look as healthy as they did when MailOnline visited on Thursday.”

The family is living in filth and darkness as the CDC has not given them instructions on how to safely dispose of waste including soiled diapers. Their apartment lost power and phone service in a storm Thursday night. The family said no one from CDC had come to check on them after having checked on them in previous days.

The Mail said the family was running low on food, water and diapers.

In their last contact with the CDC on Thursday, the family couldn’t even get a simple answer from the CDC about whether they should stay indoors.

“Ms Jallah said: ‘We asked the CDC last night if we have to stay indoors and they said they would come back to us overnight and tell us this morning.’”

As of mid-afternoon Friday, there was no contact from the CDC.

The best damn political writer to come along in a long time, Matthew Continetti says:

"The system can withstand only so many shocks. For the last two years it has suffered nothing but blows, traumas, national and international concussions. The response by our government has been denial and delusion. But that has further alienated the public, and it won’t be long before things get really weird. Maybe it is time for the political class to panic, too.

Three days later, on Wednesday evening, Jallah and Yah were visited in their second-floor apartment by health officials from the state and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The officials took everyone’s temperature and told them that they should not leave the apartment.

“We don’t have any food,” Jallah said. “What do we do?”

She was told that she and Yah, but not the kids, could go to the store. The two health officials also said they would return every day to see how the family was doing.

...

Jallah and Yah are careful not to shake the hands of visitors and when someone leaves, they use a sanitizing wipe to turn the doorknob to let the person out.

Having been a RichRod detractor for a long time, I think he landed in the proper place in Arizona where they don't care that much about football compared to basketball after his disasterous time in Ann Arbor; a move by the Maze and Blew braintrust that I can't even begin to comprehend. He can still recruit even if he's not very good at smash mouth defense and is apt to lose a game to a terrible team (he was verrrrry fortunate to beat Cal with a few miracle plays at home). As long as he doesn't knock up any cheerleaders...

Oregon must have had some key injuries since they smacked Michigan State because their lines on both sides of the ball look terrible. No part of the four way playoff for the Ducks.

Oh and this family contains the woman who was caring for the Ebola asshole (and carrying around his blanket including in the hospital ER) and wearing clothes that she was presumably tending to the Ebola asshole in and those clothes, the blanket and the rest of their stuff is still in the apartment.

Unfreaking believable.

OH and she went around the apartment sprinkling drops of Clorox. DROPS???

And they are starting to show signs of illness. But they are still in the apartment evidently still receiving visitors.

Really unfreaking believable.
