The ultimate yes-man is a woman? John Fund of NRO goes after Obama's confidante extraordinaire, Valerie Jarrett. This quote he pulls from the Remnick's Obama bio is a LTUC classic:
I think Barack knew that he had God-given talents that were extraordinary. He knows exactly how smart he is. . . . He knows how perceptive he is. He knows what a good reader of people he is. And he knows that he has the ability — the extraordinary, uncanny ability — to take a thousand different perspectives, digest them and make sense out of them, and I think that he has never really been challenged intellectually. . . . So what I sensed in him was not just a restless spirit but somebody with such extraordinary talents that had to be really taxed in order for him to be happy. . . . He’s been bored to death his whole life. He’s just too talented to do what ordinary people do.
I think anyone could emulate Ms. Jarrett and spin a career out of playing to the First Whinger's paranoia and the hubby's ego.
ERRATA: WTF, I can't make up Text shorthands? Laugh 'Til U Cry, obvi. London Transport... LOL.
I somewhat don't blame them after Ferguson. A person can be smart - people are dumb and panicky.
Sometimes. But most often when "they" have done their best to foment grievance and anger and hatred among those people. Even more so among people who they have done their best to dumb down for going on three generation now in every way possible.

I don't consider myself a germophobe, but I hate touching faucets or door handles in public toilets or anywhere else, or shopping carts, etc., and I have an easily defended house with a generator in the middle of 10 acres surrounded by wetlands that I don't live in and have been trying to sell, and a big dog. Guess I'll just camp out there with my guns if Ignatz starts getting the willies, and only touch my wife every 21 days after that.
In the meantime, I do think it's worth thinking about investment opportunities. Anything else besides Amazon so far?

Here's a handy chart showing Ebola outbreaks, total cases, total deaths and the case-fatality rate going back to 1976. It was produced on August 18th so you have to imagine the vertical axis being ten times as tall today. The largest previous outbreak was in Uganda and killed 400+. The current death toll is reported as 3,400 which exceeds the total of all previous outbreaks taken together.

Isn't it interesting that all of a sudden these Obama people are on Fox.
Yes - absolutely fascinating and all in the last 6 days. I don't think it's because Fox has the biggest audience - the administration hates the audience- and their failures on air are pretty massive - but I cannot think of another reason for ValJar to allow it to happen.

Verdict: She's full of shit and a liar.

Jane: Skepticism and distrust is increased for me, also, but what's actually changed is that I no longer find I have the same respect for rules, the regulations, or the law. That's not to say I'm actively defying any - just that where necessary I'd previously care a lot whether I and others actually comply, now I only care to ensure I don't get in trouble. It's a completely different - and uncomfortable - motivation.
I expect this attitude shift has no significant manifestations in my day to day life... but I sort of dread my next jury duty encounter. How will I look at a prosecutor's case now that I can no longer give the same priority to weighing evidence against the 'letter of the law'? I expect I'll find out at some point. I get called a lot.

Later Friday afternoon, the UK Daily Mail reported the woman, Youngor Jallah, and her family are starting to show signs of illness but have not received instructions from the CDC on what to do. The family was waiting to hear back from the CDC from a phone call for help placed Thursday.
The Mail reporter contacted the CDC Friday on behalf of the family and reported, “An official said she would pass on the information. “
Jallah cared for the Texas Ebola victim, Liberian national Thomas Duncan, at the Dallas area apartment of her mother Louise Troh. Jallah was joined at the apartment with the Ebola victim by her four children and her partner, Aaron Yah.
The Mail reported some members of the family are to show signs of illness.
“Ms Jallah repeatedly wiped her eyes – which appeared sticky – with a paper towel while a child sneezed and coughed in the background. While it is unlikely to be related to the Ebola virus, they did not look as healthy as they did when MailOnline visited on Thursday.”
The family is living in filth and darkness as the CDC has not given them instructions on how to safely dispose of waste including soiled diapers. Their apartment lost power and phone service in a storm Thursday night. The family said no one from CDC had come to check on them after having checked on them in previous days.
The Mail said the family was running low on food, water and diapers.
In their last contact with the CDC on Thursday, the family couldn’t even get a simple answer from the CDC about whether they should stay indoors.
“Ms Jallah said: ‘We asked the CDC last night if we have to stay indoors and they said they would come back to us overnight and tell us this morning.’”
As of mid-afternoon Friday, there was no contact from the CDC.

"The system can withstand only so many shocks. For the last two years it has suffered nothing but blows, traumas, national and international concussions. The response by our government has been denial and delusion. But that has further alienated the public, and it won’t be long before things get really weird. Maybe it is time for the political class to panic, too.

Three days later, on Wednesday evening, Jallah and Yah were visited in their second-floor apartment by health officials from the state and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
The officials took everyone’s temperature and told them that they should not leave the apartment.
“We don’t have any food,” Jallah said. “What do we do?”
She was told that she and Yah, but not the kids, could go to the store. The two health officials also said they would return every day to see how the family was doing.
...
Jallah and Yah are careful not to shake the hands of visitors and when someone leaves, they use a sanitizing wipe to turn the doorknob to let the person out.

Having been a RichRod detractor for a long time, I think he landed in the proper place in Arizona where they don't care that much about football compared to basketball after his disasterous time in Ann Arbor; a move by the Maze and Blew braintrust that I can't even begin to comprehend. He can still recruit even if he's not very good at smash mouth defense and is apt to lose a game to a terrible team (he was verrrrry fortunate to beat Cal with a few miracle plays at home). As long as he doesn't knock up any cheerleaders...
Oregon must have had some key injuries since they smacked Michigan State because their lines on both sides of the ball look terrible. No part of the four way playoff for the Ducks.
