I would still like Obama to personally address the Kenya meme and to accuse the person responsible for promulgating it. I don't want to hear from the person covering Obama's rear-end. Maryrose, the trial judge accepted made up numbers (300,000 w/o ID) as fact and rejected all else. Thus the higher courts do not consider it. Meanwhile the "no convictions" carp continues. But, then, I guess MSNBC wasn't getting much traction with their attempt to blame the NRA for Ebola, so they have to do SOMETHING.
Islamic State militants are claiming responsibility for a triple suicide bombing that killed at least 58 people in Iraq Sunday, as activists say Kurdish fighters have been able to halt the advance of the extremist group in the Syrian border town of Kobani.
The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights told the Associated Press the Islamic State militants, also known as ISIS or ISIL, have not been able to advance in Kobani since Friday but are sending in reinforcements. The Observatory's chief, Rami Abdurrahman, said the group appears to have a shortage of fighters and has brought in members of its religious police known as the Hisbah to take part in the battles.
Sources told Fox News that an intensified wave of airstrikes by a U.S.-led coalition in Kobani may be finally having an effect in the fight. The militants appeared to be slowing down in their intensity and the rate of attacks.

Sufficient luxury SUVs have been delivered to WHO/CDC/NGO bureaucrats in Monrovia to elicit a strong Freeshit Army response among Liberians. I believe we can anticipate mobs being twittered to violence within a surprisingly short time frame. Nothing can stop the spread of Ebola social justice.

I can't think of another event that reveals so clearly how easily we'll all be led to the abattoir with little more than a couple of feeble bleats. We have a regional disease in a small area of the world. It could be (or could have been) contained by a strict quarantine but our politicians decided that public health could be sacrificed to political correctness. So here we sit, complaining to each other and to a handful of neighbors. I'm as guilty as anyone -- haven't even bothered to call my congressional rep or senators. Guess I feel it would not do a bit of good unless another few million citizens put in a similar demand. And we won't. We won't do a thing except sit here and see what happens as the airplanes continue to land, hoping there won't be an American epidemic that kills our kids and grandkids. What's wrong with us?
Geno Smith and Kirk Cousins both threw late pick sixes to give their opponents the backdoor cover of the point spreads. Another reason I don't bet on sports.

Rick and pager had a good link the other day that pointed a finger of blame at the western NGOs that descended on the region with bags of cash, Land Cruisers, and not a lot of sense.
Now that HCW are under high risk of infection and some NGOs were hacked to death they are abandoning the opportunity to do some good, after they made sure they did a lot of damage.
Yes, Janet, we shouldn't have to tell our elected representatives to do their jobs as defined, as much as I sympathize with (A)B's underlying point on this.
I'm not complaining, but just a little curious,
it's also related to the strong dollar, which also makes one go hm, our governor and senator nelson, have pushed for more restrictions on flights out of West Africa,

Not sure what it would take or what the goal is with the political class. They have so fetishized open borders that they are willing to overturn generations of public health policy and common sense, and even in the face of a lethal threat, they repeat cant. So much for "data driven".
Per our Chitown friend, the oil price drop is tied to leveraged asset dumping in a hot money search for liquidity. Fed/IMF chickens coming home to roost as discussed a couple days ago.
Announcing that survivor's blood is being used in treatment is another good example of the Global Village Idiots in action. The growing pool of survivors provide the best opportunity to hire and train care givers at the lowest risk (I still don't think supply can catch up to need). We'll be seeing the establishment of vampire clinics in West Africa which will pay more for a pint of the good stuff than isolation/hospice duty will pay for a month.
How sure are we that survivors' blood works, RickB? Hasn't it been used in only three (or possibly four) cases? I can see the logic in the theory, but seems to me that the numbers are too small to provide anything other than hope.

well he was in high dudgeon, about that incident, of course no context is given,

Those damn Cowboys have really got my hopes up now.
I don't like that feeling. I know in my head not to trust that feeling. I'm smarter than that.
And yet...

Surfer dude's team was thoroughly dominated if you take out ST points. Dallas D made Wilson and Lynch look downright pedestrian. Romo in the playoffs still wouldn't inspire me were I a fan.

ION - Are futures prepping for Ebola Monday?
Asia is mostly red at the moment.

The only people I saw wearing hazmat gear were the EMTs.The firefighters and police didn't appear to be wearing protective gear.A car that might be Ebola guy's was towed from the Braintree clinic.Someone thoughtfully put biohazard stickers on the car's windows.

is it a little suspicious that oil prices have dropped this much recently?

Agreed, narciso. Gas in rural Alabama this weekend was $2.93. Lowest it's been in a long while.

I can't get into watching people cook on TV, but the Mrs. watches that Ramsey guy enough that the parrot picked up some of the salty language.

Gas in Ashtabula county today 2.99.
Geno Smith and Kirk Cousins both threw late pick sixes to give their opponents the backdoor cover of the point spreads. Another reason I don't bet on sports.

if economic activity is going into a freezer demand would be down and US supply is up (ND just crossed over 1 million bbl a day) ... suspicious that foreign crises aren't having an effect, but a terror attack on KSA ought to change that.

Narc:
Some of the drop in prices of gasoline is due to the change to winter blends in gasoline, depending on where you are this change can add a lot to the price of gasoline.

I hear ya, AB.
I don't call as much as I used to.
There is something odd about calling a Senator & begging them to enforce the already passed laws.
I don't know who to call when the feds. refuse to enforce our laws.
It seems like they are more interested in overturning the laws that "we the people" have passed.
I don't know what to do.

Gas is still ~$3.60 in ID. Dammit. Any guesses on the 10TSY yield by next Fri.? No? Okay, I'll go first: 2.20%

DOOM!!!

Gas $3.09 right in the heart of the city. Haven't seen that in long time.
Posted by: anonamom | October 12, 2014 at 08:09 PM
Yes, Janet, we shouldn't have to tell our elected representatives to do their jobs as defined, as much as I sympathize with (A)B's underlying point on this.
Posted by: Captain Hate | October 12, 2014 at 08:10 PM
I'm not complaining, but just a little curious,
it's also related to the strong dollar, which also makes one go hm, our governor and senator nelson, have pushed for more restrictions on flights out of West Africa,
Posted by: narciso | October 12, 2014 at 08:12 PM
At the risk of gloating, I have complete confidence that my Senator has it properly dialed-in.
Thank you, Jeff Sessions!

It wouldn't do a bit of good and misery loves company. Glad you are here.
Not sure what it would take or what the goal is with the political class. They have so fetishized open borders that they are willing to overturn generations of public health policy and common sense, and even in the face of a lethal threat, they repeat cant. So much for "data driven".
Posted by: rich@gmu | October 12, 2014 at 08:17 PM

It ain't a tough choice for survivors.

How sure are we that survivors' blood works, RickB? Hasn't it been used in only three (or possibly four) cases? I can see the logic in the theory, but seems to me that the numbers are too small to provide anything other than hope.
