Not everyone is endorsing the House Intelligence Committee report that more or less gave the Administration a pass for the Benghazi debacle.

Beautiful Pieces, Clarice.
Having missed the Obama speech and almost all the aftermath, you did a great job of putting it all together and spelling out the probable consequences. Excellent, and many thanks.
I'm thinking someone could make a mint if they could invent comfortable "Museum" shoes.

I wonder it we could get Ward Churchill to publicly come out and vouch for Fauxcahontas's Indian pedigree? He's such a loathsome, repulsive character I think an endorsement from him would do her a ton of political harm.

The non-endorsement by Graham goes along with his recommendation for a Joint Select Committee picking up Gowdy's work.

I want to know what the deal with Mike Rogers is. I want to know if he is hiding something. Isn't he leaving office in January? I want to know if that is why. I expect that kind of behavior from the dems (not the leaving part) but I don't expect it from him.

Fox has the full report (minus attachments) up for the Benghazi investigation. Surprisingly close to the AP version.
Left unanswered: why CIA Director Michael Morell changed the talking points to imply they had hard evidence of a connection to the video . . . whilst removing practically every mention to terrorists.
Posted by: Cecil Turner | November 23, 2014 at 03:51 PM
It is no secret in DC how much in the bag the G2 committees are with the community. They get private compartementlized briefings, have a revolving door for staff and despite Feinstein temper tantrum it was a blue on blue skirmish considering how much the CIA has been populated by Dem operatives and sympathizers.

Things put to rest in the report:
I've continuously resisted the various conspiracy theories on this one, and thought there was a bad case of overpromising. That said, Morell's changes to the talking points are hard to justify--or to explain, except for partisan politics. Unfortunately, if he sticks to his story, it's hard to see how it goes anywhere else (except for the fact that Graham points out: he's lied about it before Congress).

Jane: I can't begin to tell you how infuriated I am about the Benghazi story. It is both heartbreaking and insidious. To stand there and lie to everyone about the cause of their deaths in front of their coffins goes to a place I call beyond the pale. The thought of anyone prospering {as Obama has by being re-elected under false pretenses} by this travesty of justice just enrages me. Hillary should not get a pass here.

Rand Paul questioned Hillary about those guns going from Libya to Syria and she got all flustered.
Posted by: maryrose | November 23, 2014 at 04:29 PM
There are a lot of discrepancies in that report. AFRICOM in Sigonello had a QRF available within 4 hours. We had F-16's available at Aviano. 6th Fleet HQ had its own security task force. And none of them were called into action.
I blogged at the time and put the trail of crumbs together. The NYT published the next morning that it was a terrorist attack as did many other news sources. Now we are supposed to believe that the intel services all f'd up? Really?
Obama disappeared from the scene at 5:30Pm, right in the middle of the attack. There has been no accounting for his whereabouts. And what about Hillary's video apology to the Pakistani people? Or that it took until October for the president to sorta kinda admit it was terrorism, or his appearance on The View or all of the other lies?
This thing is a whitewash plain and simple.

Another solid win for the Patriots over another division leader, Detroit (now a former division leader). In this seven game winning streak, the only game in which the Patriots were put to the test in the fourth quarter was the game against Rex's Jets. Meanwhile, from the highlights, it looked as if the Browns' Josh Gordon is in top form notwithstanding this being his first game back from suspension.

maryrose and matt,
We are to stupid to understand the nuances of National security and global intelligence, strategic diplomacy. Do not question your others when it comes to adding up 2+2. They know the answer and their report is an absolute confirmaiton of their infallibility.
How do you explain the POTUS and SecState standing in front of 4 coffins and telling their relatives that they will get that video maker who made all that happen? They didn't have to go to Dover but they did. They didn't have to blame a video and let the local authorities make a big deal of arresing the maker, but they did.
In fact, they didn't have to do anything but call it a terrorist attack and we lost 4 and we are going to make it right. But they didn't.
Why does that not bother anyone but they are willing to accept a congressional report in which we were never invited to the hearings?
You know why? Because we are stupid.

Sad to read the stories about siblings fighting over heirlooms and such in the previous thread.
When my mom died, I became the trustee of her living trust. Her house was a mess, and took many thousands before it was cleaned out, fixed up, and rentable. My bros couldn't/wouldn't/didn't contribute, so I ended up loaning the trust over $40K by the time it was all said and done.
I paid every bill, rented out the house, started to pay myself back, and provided detailed regular statements, accounting for every penny. I could have paid myself interest, and according to the trust document even a fee for my services, but never did.
Ultimately, the house burned down and my one brother, who had to that point done nothing at all to help, knew a contractor and handled the rebuilding.
By the time I sold the house and got ready to divide up the money, that brother accused me of embezzling, threatened to sue me, and demanded a 15% commission for his efforts.
Of course I denied that and split everything equally, but the whole thing left us all barely speaking.
Blech.

It certainly was true in my limited experience. They were adult, unflinching and uncompromising. At the time, I was very grateful for their authoritarian presence. My boss, Arthur Krim, who was the head of the brand new Orion Pictures, put me in a crummy position ... and in those days if you bucked (no typo jokes, please) your boss you didn't have a job the next day. Especially in the movie business.

Here is the difference between our side, putatively and there side, the report on the handling of detainees under extensive interrogation, is much like the Kerry report in the 80s, they took testimony from the lowest of scum, like cartel moneylaunderers, who were all to willing to besmirch the right people for a price, Lawrence Walsh put things in his final report he couldn't prove, because they could do it,
I've wondered in the 80s, how did the Taliban really get into power, someone like a Haqquani, whose brood will be causing us trouble three generations hence, Homeland
paints the modern picture, they dealt with him, and by proxy they dealt with Bin Laden, because these were the people that the ISI vouched for, and everybody, Robert Kaplan,
the Times correspondent in Pakistan, bought the story, but this was the Genovese's of the Northwest Frontier, I think the parallel is apt,

so a generation later, you have the likes of a Bel Hadj, and Bin Qumu, they have shown their commitment to fighting the West, but they are die hards, as they would come to be called, so they are put in the position of recruiting and training the rebels against Qaddafi, and that works out much the way you think.

You know, Jane, it was kind of a time and place thing (New York on the eve of 1979). Drugs were everywhere and nobody (in that show biz milieu ) was very thoughtful about it. What was more telling was how wildly indiscreet Chip was about national affairs -- not only did he tell me things I shouldn't have known -- HE shouldn't have known them!
He was separated from his wife and I had split up with a boyfriend (Jewish) and was talking about my romantic history, and he said, "What are you doing with all those Jews, anyway?" -- which now makes a lot more sense than it did at the time.

daddy, you are right about marble floors-you might want to look into --ugh--Birkenstocks--they make them in leather shoes as well as sandals..You won't regret having them for museum viewing.
My mother has given me her valuables to hold and distribute on her death==to be honest I don't think anyone wants that jewelry--and if and when the time comes I'm thinking of asking them if they'd recommend a dealer to whom we can sell it and divide it up. I already sent her silver to my niece at her suggestion. In my experience what your heirs want most is real estate and bonds, not china, crystal , silverware, jewels and old fur coats. Just saying.

JamesD,
Of course I will, and a special prayer to St. Francis for intercession! He saved my dog when she ate a bunch of my blood pressure pills!
Saint Francis of Assisi, for our Animal Friends
Heavenly Father, our human ties with our friends of other species is wonderful and special gift from You. We now ask You to grant our special animal companions your Fatherly care and healing power to take away any suffering they have. Give us, their human friends, new understanding of our responsibilities to these creatures of Yours. They have trust in us as we have in You; our souls and theirs are on this earth together to give one another friendship, affection, and caring. Take our heartfelt prayers and fill Your ill or suffering animals with healing Light and strength to overcome whatever weakness of body they have.
We especially pray for James D.'s cat, who is sick.
Your goodness is turned upon every living thing and Your grace flows to all Your creatures. From our souls to theirs goodness flows, touching each of us with the reflection of Your love. Grant to our special animal companions long and healthy lives. Give them good relationships with us, and if You see fit to take them from us, help us to understand that they are not gone from us, but only drawing closer to You. Grant our prayer through the intercession of good St. Francis of Assisi, who honored You through all Your creatures. Give him the power to watch over our animal friends until they are safely with You in eternity, where we someday hope to join them in giving You honor forever. Amen.

James D, I am serious about St. Francis. When my dog Maggie was a little over a year old, she got into my blood pressure pills and ate a bunch.
When I found her I took her to the emergency vet clinic. She was almost catatonic and the vet didn't know if they could save her. They had to talk to Purdue and send blood work up there almost every 6 hours.
They really said there wasn't much chance, but I prayed to St. Francis to intercede for her and she miraculously perked up the next day.
I am a believer that he does look after small creatures, so give him a shout.

JiB, it's mind-boggling how Snyder and Shanahan completely ruined RGIII.
Giving him special privileges (ESPN had something today that his wife was allowed to visit practices when no other player families were, etc) and the rest of Snyder's behavior towards him did him no favors in the locker room.
Shanahan might have wrecked his knees for good by letting him stay in the playoff game 2 years ago, and then probably rushing him back last season.
They spent basically three drafts to get him, and they destroyed him in one season. Amazing.

I am NOT a great cook. Lol
I just have certain things for holidays that I do fairly well which are usually my grandma's recipes. I am not adventurous at all. Most of what I cook starts with a box, jar or whatever and I doctor em up to suit my tastes. I don't even make spaghetti from scratch - jar with some additions (roasted garlic, MOAR seasonings).
I envy those like Clarice, beasts and rse who cook all that exotic stuff. My adventures usually end up with a phone call to Pizza Hut as they are inedible.

I keep saying that timing is everything. We want the Gowdy report to come out the day after Hillary is nominated. Discovery takes a while, and I'm pretty sure he is doing a lot of it.

I will, MM. Your prayer is beautiful.

JamesD,
The curse of Snyder. It may be better to change the name after all.

Joan and Jane, Gowdy said he wasn't going to be doing a lot of this on TV. He was more interested in getting depositions in writing and assembling evidence ahead of a report.
So I am not surprised we haven't seen much on television. That wasn't his plan.
(It occurs to me that if it isn't on television the administration doesn't know who is testifying nor what is being said, so they cannot spin things nor do they have a heads up on what lies to tell.
Sometimes flying below the radar is helpful.

Absolutely, James D, and thank you, MM for posting that prayer.

Gateway Pundit has a pix of Michael Brown's father wearing a T-shirt that says:
"Gone To Soon"
Hoft asks: Who's Soon?
I think that pretty much sums it up.

Stephanie!! What do you mean you don't make your own spaghetti sauce (marinara)? I'm gonna have to come back to the 404 and bring a few recipes. This will not stand!! Argh. ;)

Prayers on the way, James. I hope she gets better.

Out on a limb but I will make my super bowl pick today:
Green Bay v. NE Patriots.
Who you got?

On the bright side, JiB, it may not be completely hopeless for RGIII. It took six years before Phil Simms managed to play a full season, and look how he turned out in the end...
Oh, right, Snyder will still be the owner three years from now. Forget about that bright side.

For the Hollywoodites:
Atlanta is a growing production mecca (now #3 behind Hollywood and NY) and I've been thinking about starting a sewing/fittings business that would do the fittings and alterations for casts and extras (we have casting and extras calls daily with many requiring fittings).
Would I approach the casting firms or the production companies to see about getting contract work from them?
Also, what about specialty sewing for sets, do they contract that through the prod companies or is it a closed captured already in some interior designer's back pocket business that newbies have no chance of getting into?
Thanks in advance.

Steph-funny you said that as I just made a 3 grain pilaf with pearled barley, bulgar wheat, and brown rice. It is simmering.
Cod with 3 TBS of mayo, 3 TBS melted butter, 1/2 cup grated parm cheese, dash tabasco, lemon juice, and 2 TBS chopped scallions.
You melt the sauce after fish is cooked for about 2 minutes.
Cooking and good wine is how I chill from all these terrible ideas I deal with most days.
One last note on family battles dealing with the awful step grandmother who just thought if she was ugly enough to me and my brother she would no longer have to deal with any of the grandchildren from the first marriage did help turn me into a very tough negotiator.
It's not a bad life lesson to learn that great ugliness can go on in beautiful homes.
