We don't normally look for laughs at a Sino-Japanese summit, but this picture and headline are hilarious:
Frosty Meeting at APEC Could Be Start of Thaw Between China and Japan
And when they say "Frosty" they aren't talking about a Beer Summit:
"Sorry to hear about your dog dying."
"Thanks, I hear your cat is circling the drain, too."
Well, Obama is at the APEC meeting too, so that should turn the frowns into smiles. Or chuckles, anyway.

"Kerry/Obummer have f#@kall to do with oil prices. The KSA is protecting market share in China and punishing Putin."
This Reuters piece, outlining a second pipeline deal between China and Russia, supports the argument regarding the KSA ceding primacy as the swing producer controlling energy pricing. The Eurasian Coprosperity Sphere doesn't want the oily sheiks in charge of much of anything but camels.

Putin/ChiCom oil deals are is an interesting game of Liars' Poker. Putin, OPEC and the KSA have lost control of oil pricing because of North American production (not just Canadian Tar sands, horizontal drilling and fracking, and PEMEX opening up to foreign investment, it's all of them combined) so that gives China the option to whipsaw the KSA and Putin on pricing as the both look to protect market share, but China is slowing its growth in economic output (7% GDP increase is the new 12%) and oil demand increases has slowed, will that China rate slowdown be secular? Putin can abuse the EUTopians and Obummer, but the ChiComs are another matter. The KSA can absorb the most price pain in the near term, but they are clearing cutting prices to maintain share as the USA will continue to cut crude imports, and become a net refined product exporter. Impossible to predict where and how this Big Game goes.

The American and Russian presidents have publicly revealed their conflicting visions of future development not only in Europe (where Moscow and Washington continue to lock horns over Ukraine), but in Asia, as well.
In the buildup to the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in Beijing, US President Barack Obama made it clear that he had no plans to meet his Russian counterpart.
He went on to say that he also likely won’t meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Brisbane, Australia where both leaders will attend the G20 summit in mid-November.
At the same time, Obama reiterated his support of the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), a trade deal Washington is negotiating with 11 nations in the region, excluding China and Russia.
On the eve of the APEC summit in Beijing, Putin highlighted his opposition to the TPP.
One does not need to be a genius to understand that plans to build Pacific economic zones without the region’s two biggest powers – Russia and China – are doomed.
“It is clear that the economic influence of the United States and the West in general will inevitably decline in the coming years,” commented the Moscow-based Expert magazine, Russia’s leading weekly specializing in economic analysis.
“But the [Obama] administration and the European Union seem to have chosen the costliest and the most painful way to manage this process,”

Dear Abby,
My husband has a long record of money problems. He runs up huge credit card bills and at the end of the month, if I try to pay them off, he shouts at me, saying I am stealing his money. He says pay the minimum and let our kids worry about the rest, but already we can hardly keep up with the interest.
Also he has been so arrogant and abusive toward our neighbors that most of them no longer speak to us. The few that do are an odd bunch to whom he has been giving a lot of expensive gifts, running up our bills even more. Also, he has gotten religious. One week he hangs out with Catholics and the next with people who say the Pope is the Anti-Christ, and the next he's on his knees 5 times a day with Muslims.
Finally, the last straw. He's demanding that before anyone can be in the same room with him, they must sign a loyalty oath. It's just so horribly creepy!
Can you help?
Signed,
Lost
Dear Lost,
Suck it up and stop whining, Michelle. You're getting to live in the White House for free, travel the world, and have others pay for everything for you. You can divorce the jerk any time you want. The rest of us are stuck with the idiot for 2 more years.

Unfortunately the handwriting is on the wall even if democrats like Wasserman Schultz and Obama won't realize it.
They lost big time because their message and policies stink and they are unable to fool people any longer.
We will not impeach Obama but we will let him twist in the wind as the loser he is for the next two years. after that when he has totally destroyed the Democrat brand we will elect a smart conservative Republican like Walker with a Hispanic or an African American as a running mate.

Weekly Standard's Irwin Stelzer suggests Obama ought to reestablish his relevance by implementing a virtual carbon tax on Chinese goods. Initially I thought that'd run afoul of WTO principles, but I see they have a "safety valve" for environmental protection, so it'd probably wash. Unfortunately for Obama, it'd require some canastas to implement, and those have been primarily characterized by their absence in this admin.

I had customers like this when I sold furniture. They would want a new sofa, but would take home fabric, bring it back, take more, come back, have me come to the house and measure, come in and try different styles, MORE fabric home, etc.
I even had one guy who wanted me to GUARANTEE that the color would always be in style!
Obama is paralyzed with the fear of making a mistake, possibly because he feels like if he made one, it would show that he isn't always the smartest person in the world.
That is also why he lets others do stuff like write the healthcare bill. If he has someone to blame then all is well if things go bad.
It is a very dysfunctional way to operate, but that is what we have. And it will only get worse over the next two years.

Other than that, they're in great shape!
They also had a once in a generation tabula rasa candidate in BHO and the added benefit of his racial trump card. Cankles and Lieawatha can't begin to generate that level of excitement. And they're old and rather unnattractive. Sorry, but that matters, viz. Jack Kennedy.

"There was a time not so long ago when Americans, regardless of their political stripes, rallied round their president. Once elected, the man who won the White House was no longer viewed as a republican or democrat, but the President of the United States. The oath of office was taken, the wagons were circled around the country’s borders and it was America versus the rest of the world with the president of all the people at the helm.
Suddenly President Barack Obama, with the potential to become an exceptional president has become the glaring exception to that unwritten, patriotic rule."

People were stopping not to offer help, but to ask where the deer was. Finally someone offered to take us to their home while the car was being towed. My dad, who had hunted big game in Alaska and the Yukon, knew exactly where that deer was. I told the people who helped us and then they strang it up in their barn.
I remember it was an unusually big buck and that we were apparently very lucky it had not tried to jump towards windshield.

I've learned here from some commenters that ethnic block voting is genetic and immutable, there is no way for ethnic voters to be persuaded to vote their own economic and national interests above ethnic identity.
Abbott got 44% of Hispanic votes, IIRC about the same that W got in 2004 nationwide. Yes, some Hispanics do vote Republican, but the majority don't. Maybe we can increase the percentage of those that do, which would be great. But we can't do that by pandering to the ones who vote Democrat and passing amnesty.
Amnesty will deliver mostly Dem voters to the Dems. Newly-legal Hispanic voters are much more likely to vote Dem than Hispanics who are native born or whose families have been in the US a long time. They will not thank the GOPers who voted for it by voting for them. They will vote for the ones that promise them more free stuff and an easier route to getting their extended families over here too. There is no getting around that. Hence the Obama threats.

"A generation of Democrats lost in the Obama era"
The leftists were killing off generations of Americans long before the Obama era.
"57 million plus since 1973."6.900,000 by Planned Parenthood alone"
http://www.numberofabortions.com/
Think that the leftists lies to get Obamacare passed were the first lies?
"Neither of the two women whose cases were originally brought to the Supreme Court had abortions. Norma McCorvey (Roe) had claimed she was gang raped in order to gain sympathy for her attempt to have an abortion in Texas. Her lawyer, Sarah Weddington, knew the rape story was a lie when she argued the case before the Supreme Court, but she chose to keep that information from the court and the public. The truth did not surface until 1988, when Norma McCorvey herself confessed to the lie. In 1995, McCorvey joined the pro-life movement.
Sandra Cano (Doe) had appealed to a lawyer for help in reclaiming her children, who had been taken from her at a time that she was unable to provide for them. Attorney Margie Pitts Hames siezed the opportunity to use the unwitting Cano, who was pregnant at the time, in the effort to legalize abortion in Georgia, even though Cano had never wanted an abortion."
http://prolifeaction.org/faq/abortion.php#roe
Leftists lie about everything all the time.
Now the nation is told that we need to allow illegal immigration to bring in young workers.
The reason we are missing millions of young workers who were already going to be legal citizens is because the leftists killed them.
Posted by: pagar | November 10, 2014 at 12:31 PM
Opposing Amnesty and demographic voting trends are different issues. Amnesty affects millions of low income individuals who will immediately jump on the Free Stuff Army roster. Existing voters, and future voters from a sane immigration policy are, or should be, a very different issue.

Porch,
Let's assume that everything you say about Hispanics voting is correct. Here's is why it will make little difference.
The Hispanic that mostly vote Dem are already living in largely Dem areas. Any increase on those numbers will not affect the National picture.
49% of Hispanics live in CA and TX if we add the other 3 states that comprise the top 5, the % increases to 80%+.
If we look at the 5 states with the highest % of Hispanics, New Mexico-Texas-California-Arizona-Nevada only California has a Dem Governor and only New Mexico and CA have Dem state legislature.
Obviously, something is preventing those state from turning Blue. Source Pew Research.
Posted by: Bori | November 10, 2014 at 12:46 PM
Iggy, I think deep down they get it, but many are playing the short game and working for their big donor masters.
The picture isn't complete yet but Hispanics and AAs voting Republican may have made a big difference for Perdue, Deal, Tillis and Scott. A couple of percentage points in the GOP direction was huge. Of course this would be harder to duplicate in Presidential years.
Can I just say once again how grateful I am to divine Providence that we did so well last Tuesday? I was hopeful but so expecting to be burned. What a relief.

China never built any statue to Nixon. But Nixon did "dump" Taiwan; which had the "china seat" at the UN. In favor of the RED CHINA.
It really was called Red China.
As to the Japanese, (as small a country as they are), had gone into China and took control. The Chinese at that time was divided into "war lord" zones. Five of them.
When WW2 came around, we brought humongous supplies "through china" for MacArthur's Pacific Theater.
It was here that Mao STOLE everything! Our cross country shipments would just disappear.
After WW2 ended Mao used the military arsenal he stole to conquer the 4 other war loads. And, he united the country. Mostly peasants. Mao said intellectuals were useless. (That it would take 100 working peasants just to create food for the intellectuals.) So some intellectuals were killed. And, others "re-educated."
The chinese still believe this stuff.

Yes, Bori, and to some extent the same is true for AAs. The states in the South with the highest AA percentages are still red.
But Dems cannot win statewide, in the states where they do win statewide, without the Hispanic and AA vote. Same goes for Presidents too, obviously.

I hate beating a dead horse but we've had good results in 2010 and 2014 and terrible results in 2008 and 2012. There are two big reasons for that and making excuses for them doesn't solve anything.

404 looks stupid no matter what he's wearing.

In time, the "Hispanic bloc" will be found to have had precisely the same basis in reality as the SkyDragon. Like the SkyDragon, its existence was found to be necessary in order to provide a scientistic rationale as "proof" of the inevitable destination of permanent majority status for the progressive Fascist clown corps.
The Black Bloc actually exists and it is as impenetrable and unworthy of pursuit as the Irish Bloc which originally gave us the stinking Blue Hellholes which still specialize in plantation life.
Those with a Spanish linguistic heritage are quite capable of making appropriate political choice without any inducement other than proof of a lack of artificial barriers to political advancement. As Bori notes, voters in Texas, Nevada and New Mexico are providing all the proof necessary.

You just know that the ChiComs told Obummer that only the MOST SPECIALIST-IST of foreign leaders gets to wear the Plum Sauce colored busboy outfit.

Lynch wants to free Teh Blacks from the 'prison of racism'. Holy hyperbole, Batman! She sounds 'reasonable'.

The blocs to disarm are the Lackwitz sister -- 'feelings'-- voters and the Free Stuff Army. Amnesty is an attempt to increase both of Dem voter blocs, it must be opposed from that practical perspective as well as protecting the rule of law.

That's not a bad look for him, actually. I think he should stick with it when he gets back. He could get one in every color.

Bussing tables is honest work; I hate seeing anybody doing it stained by associations with 404.

Threadwinner, NK! Brutal...
Posted by: Beasts of England | November 10, 2014 at 01:16 PM
Yes, RickB. It is of course possible, although the majority of Hispanics still vote D.
Are you saying we shouldn't oppose amnesty, then?
Bori asked a few threads back if there was any evidence to support the idea that amnesty would create mostly Dem voters. To me it is self-evident that it would, but again I am feeling like we are heading into bizarro world if there are a substantial number of JOMers who think otherwise.
Would anyone be willing to put money on the idea that *enough* Hispanics could be convinced to vote GOP to, say, win the White House in 2016? I sure wouldn't. Right now it seems possible, and worth working on, but still largely a pipe dream in the short term and impossible if we get amnesty.

I said it before. The mere fact that Zero chose her makes Lynch unfit for confirmation as Attorney General.
The fact that she would willingly choose to work directly for him makes her doubly so.

Sometimes I find it hard to resist posting pics of this woman, but I do hope she runs for president.

If the GOP can't convince enough Republicans to not vote Libertarian I do not hold out too much hope for them to switch from poorly managed politics-politics and dive into the art of race-politics.
Maybe they should try an "America First" strategy instead of a "Hyphenated Americans" goose egg.

The same political group that bought you the lies that produced the Obamacare disaster and the Wade Roe murder racket have been feeding us the lies that making voters show ID at the polls for years.
http://gotnews.com/ag-nominee-loretta-lynch-voter-id-racist/
"Lynch applauded the Justice Department for bringing suit against her home state of North Carolina for installing voter ID laws."
That statement alone should disqualify Loretta Lynch from being considered to be the next AG, imo
Sen Graham's statement that "Even Senator Lindsey Graham, a member of the Judiciary Committee, said "she seems to be a solid choice" and is "qualified." is 100 % BS IMO. LUN

Help me out here, Porch. If O succeeds in granting these people amnesty, he still hasn't granted them citizebship (and I don't believe he cam without legislation, though I don't know). So they'renot going to be voting Dem or anything else.
Right?

"Would anyone be willing to put money on the idea that *enough* Hispanics could be convinced to vote GOP to, say, win the White House in 2016? "
Porchlight,
Sure. "Enough" isn't all that many wrt Nevada, New Mexico and Colorado and the ground work is close to complete in New Mexico and is complete in Nevada. Colorado remains a bit problematic but it's not due to bloc voting by Hispanics.
Amnesty is not about the Hispanic vote, it's about the maintenance of the illusion of an inevitable majority based upon demographic trends which stopped trending twenty years ago. The illusion is necessary to keep prog idiots writing checks.
