Aaaaaaargh!

What else are they going to fill the magazine with?

Old Lurker

cross posted because I got lost by Hypre Tom:

Rush agreed with a caller who surmised that the leaderships in each party got what they wanted and though they both know they pissed off their bases, the goodies were worth that price. So the fix is in.

That said, technically a revolt in the Senate could send it back to the House where maybe it would die second time around, but that apparently is very very unlikely.

BTW Rush is of the opinion that one thing GOPe wanted and got was the ten fold increase on the contribution limits of corporations and Rush reads that as a war chest to bury the Tea Party Conservatives.

Rush is not in a good mood and sounds like most of us here regarding the message this sends to the voters from one month ago.

Happy Birthday, Iggy!

Re feminist idiocy: I used to think all it would take to put an end to the hysteria would be the feminizis becoming mothers of sons. Apparently, there's no hope for these women.

Sue

Happy birthday Iggy. You are now as old as I am. ::grin::

Do they still do music reviews or admit that nobody there possessed any taste?

Happy birthday Iggy!!

I think we are in an era of politics at all levels of governments where the pols have decided they get to rule with what's left of the dollars they confiscate from us.

At the federal level they just allow the printing press equivalent to run while the states and locals just issue bonds claiming it's for the taxpayers benefit, when usually that's connected to the pols as well.

narciso

I noticed this story with the bogus stat, as TM points out there are real instances, but there is an insistence that every incident is real,

A long time ago, probably ending around WW2, women needed their hymens for their wedding nights.

Belle Barth joked that it sure was difficult to scream "it hoits." While the guy has his ankles tied to the bedposts so that he doesn't fall in.

Ah, back then it was called "de-flowering." But today? Whose a virgin on their wedding nights? Who knew that the white wedding dress were once designed for virginal brides?

Now? Rape stories need to be more dramatic than a Bergman film. Plus, Shattered Glass is the name of the novel about Stephen Glass, a journalist who found it much easier just to make stuff up.

Part of the story out of Oberlin (with the "broken glass table" ... was just another example of creative writing.)

Soylent Red

HB Iggy!

At the federal level they just allow the printing press equivalent to run while the states and locals just issue bonds claiming it's for the taxpayers benefit, when usually that's connected to the pols as well.

Gotta end sooner or later, and when the credit is all used up, they'll go looking for money in your retirement accounts, bank accounts, etc.

Sad part is, we continue to have crappy infrastructure, a reduced defense capability, and all the other things BOTH sides keep promising us. Meanwhile the political class prospers.

Like I said: gotta end sooner or later.

George

At the risk of being labeled a rape apologist, in the old days one of the bases of assessing the validity of a rape allegation was a report close to the time of the incident. This served the interest of the public in removing rapists from the streets, the interest of an accused in being able to rebut a false report and I believe the therapeutic need of a victim (while I'm not a woman, I agree with TM that I would find seeing an attacker in cuffs to be therapeutic as hell). Now we have someone who it appears did not report a non-borderline rape by two thugs looking for "justice." This just not the way to run a railroad.

George

I should have added looking for "justice" ten years too late.

rse

http://pjmedia.com/tatler/2014/12/12/with-cromnibus-the-permanent-bipartisan-fusion-government-strikes-back/ nails it.

GOPe and Dems are both kleptocrats. They simply differ on the cause and precisely who they direct our dollars to. They always take their cut.

Extraneus

Yeah, that tenfold increase in donation limits to the national parties does seem ominous, OL.

I dubbed it the Death Star,

Protest is a performance that can make the unseen visible. In this angry epic, thousands found a role.... A black President who so often seems reluctant to talk about race was forced into the fray.... This outcry was better focused than Occupy, bigger than the one that followed the Trayvon Martin case.... But to many, it was hard to square the anger with the Molotov cocktails whistling through the night....

Henry Luce just screams in the either,

Threadkiller

So now that we see how the leadership of both parties collude, is the nature of the Consent Decree and the fact that the IRS targeted the person who brought it to our attention and Issa's failure to resolve the IRS's criminal behavior an issue to anyone besides me?

Some Guy

Did anyone need to read past "hymens" to know who was the post's author?

I see Some Guy and I are in sync. :)

NKrebootguy

The $342K is obvious pushback by the 2 parties to the fact they are at a massive disadvantage compared to individual pols who benefit from issue advertising as a result of Citizens United. The parties are trying to stay relevant; but when the parties piss off their voters, it doesn't matter what the finance rules are. The Dems are being crushed by that, will the Repubs piss off their voters. We'll know next month.

Jane

George,

I agree with you. Then I think about Bill Cosby and how intimidating that must be.

MarkO

Try to Remember. From the Fantasticks.

Rape!
R-a-a-a-pe!
Raa-aa-aa-pe!
A pretty rape!
A literary rape!
We've the obvious open schoolboy rape,
With little mandolins and perhaps a cape.
The rape by coach; it's little in request.
The rape by day, but the rape by night is best.
Just try to see it.
And you will soon agree, señors,
Why
Invite regret,
When you can get the sort of rape
You'll never ever forget.
You can get the rape emphatic.
You can get the rape polite.
You can get the rape with Indians:
A very charming sight.
You can get the rape on horseback;
They'll all say it's new and gay.
So you see the sort of rape
Depends on what you pay.
It depends on what you
Pay.

That does it! OK, Jane and DrJ, just to show TM there are no hard feelings (or Aargh feelings, as it were), let's join our friends at JOM in singing the new and all-time never to be changed JOM Theme Song!!!!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Ux3-a9RE1Q

MarkO

Jane, the rape thing?

I was just remembering the number from one of my favorite musicals and thought that since TM is certain something happened, I would give him some tuneful examples.

This was the 60's but these lines are timeless:

"You can get the rape on horseback;
They'll all say it's new and gay."

MarkO

Revelation 8:1-5 King James Version (KJV)

1 And when he had opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven about the space of half an hour.

2 And I saw the seven angels which stood before God; and to them were given seven trumpets.

5 And the angel took the censer, and filled it with fire of the altar, and cast it into the earth: and there were voices, and thunderings, and lightnings, and an earthquake.

Iggy

Jane,
Just to clarify a bit, that song is putatively using "rape" in the old sense of "abduction" not sexual assault although it's rather difficult to imagine they didn't think they were being droll.

Iggy

And thanks for all the birthday wishes everyone.
I feel better knowing I'm back in sync with Sue. :)

Iggy

Oh yeah! That's the other reason I remember Nina Burleigh...she's the sad bimbo who offered to blow BillyJeff for keeping abortion legal.

Manhattan Lawyer Accused Of Operating $5 Million Ponzi Scheme

WASHINGTON – A Manhattan-based attorney has been charged with operating a Ponzi scheme responsible that allowed him to steal $5 million. The Securities and Exchange Commission said Charles Bennett raised the money by selling purported investments with a Wyoming-based investment fund but in fact never invested the money. The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York announced criminal charges for Bennett as well. Bennett's attorney could not be reached.

More nutty Nina as Twitchy and Glenn Reynolds smack her around for saying women at a site who say they don't need feminism look like do it yourself prostitutes and sock puppets of misogynistic pedophiles.
I'll take Sabrina over Nina in a match between the lesser of two harpies.

it is the bizarre way in which sexual assaults and sexual misconduct are handled on campus. It creates a system designed perfectly for predators (re the Hannah Graham case). The suspect in the Graham case was accused of sexual misconduct at 2 separate schools ... and was never really charged in a way in which he would have gone to jail. He was even able to get a job at a university after being dismissed by 2 schools.

Wretchard's latest (The Second Wave), has this:

North Korea has become the human experimentation capital of the world. They have got to find a use for those useless mouths. So “a former officer in North Korea’s special forces says disabled people in the country are used for chemical weapons experiments.”

“The regime wants to do this ‘legally’ so they offer to buy disabled children from their parents and they say they will take care of them. If that doesn’t work, they threaten them. They use them for chemical weapons experiments, not only children, they also use disabled adults.”

On first hearing that it sounds pretty gruesome. But upon reflection I recalled that at the Gruber Hearings on Tuesday we learned that Harvard's sharpest glib Economist thought the abortions of millions of poor babies saved US Taxpayers Billions, and was a great benefit to Society.

And I also recall that ObamaCare's other Chief Architect, Zeke Emanual, thinks once you hit 75, it's time to off oneself for the betterment of Society.

Well my suggestion, is why not sell our unaborted poor babies and our 75 year old Zeke's to the Nork's?

If killing them in order to stop them from being a drain on the US Taxpayer is a Wonderful policy, how much more Wonderful would that policy be if we actually got paid in cash by the Nork's to let them kill them? Like Wonderful squared, if you ask me.
