Congrats DrJ !
This is a nice story, for all the Patriots/Kraft/Belechick/Brady haters. :)
Bob Kraft sent two tickets to a terminally ill Maine woman and her son to attend Sunday's game. The front row seats are usually reserved. She is a huge fan and wanted to attend one more game.

Beasts of England

Congratulations, DrJ!!

Congrats. When you posted last night about the upcoming blessed event I wasn't sure if the baby was going to be named Stella or if you were simply saying TCFAB, a Stella:)

Thanks all!

Buckeye, I don't care much for Stella the beer. I'm celebrating with a wee dram of Ardbeg Uigeadail, a fine single malt Scotch.

Now back to bed.

Joe Biden, Gina McCarthy, public private partnerships to build infrastructure, and a new kind of bond. http://www.betterroads.com/vp-biden-announces-new-steps-to-build-america-investment-initiative/

Came out yesterday.

Congrats DrJ.

Captain Hate

I don't care much for Stella the beer.

Dear God no; Stella the newborn, though, is something to celebrate.

12:01!!!! What a cool time to be born.

Go Stella - Congrats Dr. J!

There are other sexual desires that some wish were more socially acceptable too.

A WaPo article from 2005.
A Crime Ready For It's Close-up - http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A9686-2005Jan14.html

"What's distinctive about these films is their unrelenting honesty and focus on human nature, no matter how perverse it may be in society's eyes."

"In all these films, we are tacitly asked to consider positively the idea of adult-teen relations."

"But increasingly, the glass wall of squeamish sanctimony that keeps "us" apart from "them" is being shattered. We are no longer asked to merely demonize pedophilia but at least get a sense of the humanity behind it. No more black-hat them, white-hat us."

It is all coming.

James D.

DrJ, congrats!

Captain Hate

A sense of the "humanity" behind child abusers? Another example of the absolute hatred libs have for children.

an interesting bit about the author of that article - "Desson Patrick Thomson is a speechwriter in the Obama administration and a former movie critic for The Washington Post."

"He took an early buyout in 2008 and became a speechwriter for the U.S. Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Louis Susman, from February 2010 until November. In December 2010, he joined the Policy Planning Office of the U.S. Department of State as a speechwriter for Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. In February 2012, he became a speechwriter and Senior Advisor for Content Development for the Under Secretary of State for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs."

James D.

Exactly, Janet.

Same-sex marriage is not about Bill and Larry having their relationship made equal in the eyes of the law.

It's about undermining the idea of marriage between a man and a woman, with children resulting, as the norm, as the basic building block of a healthy and successful society. EVERYTHING the left supports is about undermining that, ultimately.

It's about destroying every source of stability and support outside of the government. It's about making everyone's most important relationship be between them and the state, rather than between them and their spouse, or children, or other relatives, or members of their church or local community.

Jack is Back (on his iPhone)

DrJ, congrats and welcome Stella.

Captain Hate

Memeorandum has a headline from The Hill: Obama tries to steal GOP thunder. Whatever happened to a goal of "404 tries to improve the lives of every US citizen"?

Dave's comment is SO good -
"As I've pointed out before, you're now considered a "bigot" if you hold the same position on this issue that Obama held up until May 9th, 2012."

Awoke to an unexpected message from my cross country skiing co-pilot who during our 4 day long Cambridge layover went to a Cross Country Ski Race in Austria with Olympian Holly Brooks.

Looks like I won’t get the opportunity for you to buy me a beer, as I’m back MEM, waiting for a JS to Albuquerque where my wife lives. This weekend while I was skiing in Austria, she returned home to some armed robbers!

Here is how my neighbor wrote up the crime:

Yesterday, at around 12:30, at my next door neighbor's house on Calle Del Corte NE, this guy and two of his buddies, drove their truck into my next-door neighbors driveway and proceeded into my neighbor's open garage. My neighbor arrived shortly after the incident began and pulled in behind their truck. She was confronted in her car by the men, one of them, using his pistol, broke her drivers side window and began hitting her, forcing her to move her car.. My neighbors one year old baby girl was with her in her vehicle. My neighbor managed to take these photos with her cell phone. The guy you see was the guy with the gun. My neighbor also called 911. APD Officers arrived on the scene shortly afterward, but the bad guys had all ready driven away.

She is ok, but obviously shaken up and the duty officer was great and released me from duty the minute I told him what happened, so I’ve been working my way back to ABQ as fast as I can.

Anyways the race in Austria was great. It was a sunny blue bird day and Holly won the women’s race. Here is the write up with a picture of us all at the end: USA’s Brooks and Switzerland’s Livers Win 41st Dolomitenlauf in Obertilliach – Brooks Leads Series

Good flying with you and thanks for the landings.

My guy is in the bottom picture on the bottom left. It was excellent of the company to send him home quick and dig somebody else up to continue the trip. His wife is a Professor of 17th Century Russian History at the University, and has a 1 and a 4 year old, so thankfully nobody was hurt. Must have scared her to death.

Dr J congrats to you and Stella.

"404 tries to improve the lives of every black non US citizen"

Miss Marple

Good morning, all.

I will listen to the SOTU here in my office (TV is over my shoulder so I don't have to look at him). I always have a hope that he will go completely mental on live TV and they will have to get the Secret Service to cart him off to a locked ward in Bethesda.

Then Fox could cut to Brett Baier and Brit Hume telling Juan that they have been WARNING Juan for years that Obama wasn't quite right.

Yesterday Tammy Bruce tweeted that she had her material for SOTU research ready, and posted pictures of psychology papers on Narcicisstic personality disorder and abnormal behavio. LOL!

I can't guarantee I will stick with the entire thing, though. I do have to manage my blood pressure.

I agree with Marco, thanks for your sharing

I think Stella is a nice, clean, light, refreshing beer.

I thought I'd remembered that one of the summiteers drank it, but I was wrong. Still, it was nice to go back to one of Obama's greatest hits.

Congrats, DrJ!

Miss Marple

Wow, what a scary thing to happen to your friend's wife! Glad the company could release him and get him home!

One of the nice things about having 3 dogs in this house is the racket they set up when anyone approaches. Due to the fact that they are in various sizes and have various pitches to their barks, when they get going it sounds like there are about 10 dogs in here. LOL!

One of the most ridiculous things a U.S. President has ever done:

Miss Marple

Congratulations on the arrival of Stella!

jimmyk on iPad

Congrats, DrJ!

I haven't watched any of Barry's SOTUs, and I'm not about to start now. The closest I'll get is if one of JOM's talented live bloggers takes on the task.

Captain Hate
“Every one of those Washington graybeards who goes on TV and talks about how the way to win is to run to the mushy middle … have you noticed these consultants keep losing over and over and over again?” Cruz said. “Who in their right mind would listen to someone who keeps getting whupped and giving us advice on how not to get whupped?”

I do hope there is someone glassy-eyed enough to stand up and say
'you lie !'.

SOTU's tend to lack drama, intrigue and facts like a prosecutor manipulating a GJ.

Yep, Mighty scary Miss M. He sent a link that had 4 cellphone pix of the suspects (I couldn't get it to open) but hopefully that'll help the police identify the perps.

Fry does a great job barking every time the door bell goes off, or when he hears something unexpected. He wouldn't hurt a flea but he sure can bark.

Miss Marple

By the way, 3 people will interview Obama after the SOTU.

They are all people who have big YouTube accounts. Here is the picture of one, and as God is my witness I am not making this up:

Her name is GloZell Lynette Simon, whose video went viral when she swallowed a large amount of cinnamon, coughing and gagging for a long period of time. She is known for wearing green lipstick.

I assume these people were chosen for the high numbers of followers they have, and will not be shown on TV.

It's part of their "continuing effort to reach out to the American people in different ways so that the president is more accessible."

THis is what people that aren't news junkies see though....

ABC, NBC Cheer Obama’s Liberal Proposals, Poll Numbers Before SOTU

The buffoonery on display in France isn't amplified or mocked.

James D.

There is not enough money in the world to pay me to sit through 60+ minutes watching Zero on TV.

Congrats to you, Dr. J and to Stella.

That was the last SOTU I watched--right before Congressman Wilson yelled "You lie!" I jumped up and yelled "You liar!"

I just don't want to expend any more energy on this guy. Thanks for volunteering MM.

What was that about every piddly law being another opportunity for a fatal confrontation with the police?

I do believe that pic has upset my stomach, MM.

BBC reporting that 2 Japanese men have been taken hostage by ISIS and have they have released photos of the guys down on their knees in the orange Jump Suits with the black robed Jihadi standing behind them

Japanese Prime Minister Abe is shown on the news expressing great anger in demanding their release. BBC says one of the hostages, a Film maker, is very well known by the Japanese public.

Will be interesting to see what comes of this. Japan is a very closed society, and they have amazing documentation and knowledge of what foreigners are in their country. They also can be very tough customers when ticked off. Don't know what exactly they can do, but looks to me like ISIS just unnecessarily declared war on Japan, which historically has not been a smart thing to do.

Beasts of England

That was on our local news this morning, Extraneus. Wonder if the McDonalds bag had a warning about not eating and driving? ;)

Someone suggested the other day that it was
Russia on the offensive, rather than Right-Sector Kiev neo-nazis reacting to the Gazprom shut-off. They are desperate for those IMF bail-outs.

(Reuters) - Ukrainian troops recaptured almost all the territory of Donetsk airport in eastern Ukraine they had lost to separatists in recent weeks, even as thousands gathered in Kiev for a state-sponsored peace march on Sunday.

The offensive brought fighting close to the industrial city of Donetsk itself, center of a pro-Russian rebellion, while shelling intensified in other parts of the region, known as the "Donbass".

With attempts to restart peace talks stalled, pro-Russian rebels have stepped up attacks in the past week and casualties have mounted, including 13 civilians killed in an attack on a passenger bus, which Kiev blamed on the separatists.

Military spokesman Andriy Lysenko said the army's operation had returned the battle lines near the airport to the previous status quo and, thus not violated the 12-point peace plan agreed with Russia and separatist leaders last September in Minsk.

O say, does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

Now there's a hell of a question!!

The pic looks fake.

Howard Kurtz has his panties in a wad.

Slippery slope? GOP just says no to MSNBC on debates

Fox News is getting three debates (one of them on Fox Business) and CNN two. One debate each was awarded to CBS, ABC and NBC (in conjunction with Telemundo), and one to CNBC.

'looks fake'. It's always made me wonder. If the object is to terrify, why go dark when the deed is done? They always show the head next to or on body. Why delete the gory act itself?

SOTU? I watched 2009, more than enough. Besides, what does he have to say? Honestly.

From October:

By refusing to review decisions striking down gay marriage bans from three appellate courts across the country, the Supreme Court gave a tacit nod to the legal reasoning in the cases before the courts.

It seems the lower courts found "equal protection" persuasive in those cases.

In the way that they have defined The Equal Protection Clause does this mean feeling a certain way is good enough?

I feel like two people so let me drive in the carpool lane.

I feel like a paraplegic so I will park in the handicapped spot.

I feel like I am poor so give me my food stamps and better tax rate.

I feel like a harbor seal so let me go into the San Diego Children's pool(actually being a child isn't good enough).

Instead of redefining "traditional" marriage what they are really doing is redefining traditional homosexuality which is nothing more than a mental disorder that goes against traditional evolution.

Eric in Boise

Japan is a very closed society, and they have amazing documentation and knowledge of what foreigners are in their country.

Which is why twenty or thirty years from now Japan may be smaller, but it will still be Japan.

Tim Tebow's Valentine's game plan: Special needs proms throughout nation

Debbie Fasano and her team of 11 at The Crossing, in Quincy, Ill., have less than a month to make sure everything is perfect for some 300 VIPs.

On Feb. 13, a parade of special guests, each with an entourage and some requiring special accommodations, will appear at the non-denominational church for a night Fasano vows they will never forget. The church is one of dozens across the country taking part in “Night to Shine,” a prom-style evening of dining and dancing for special needs teenagers organized by the foundation of former NFL quarterback Tim Tebow.

“Our goal is to make every individual feel special and loved that night, as if they’re the only ones there,” Fasano told FoxNews.com.

The same scenario is playing out at 49 other churches in 26 states as well as Amazing Grace International Ministries, in Nairobi, Kenya, and Ekisa Ministries, in Jinja, Uganda. Tebow, 27, a devout Christian who quarterbacked the Florida Gators to two national championships and won the Heisman Trophy before a brief NFL career, said the special night will honor teens who struggle with a variety of disabilities.

But illegals from Guatemala are allowed to break our laws. They even get perks!

And a person can vandalize property here in Virginia...throw bricks through windows & spray paint curse words on another person's property. No problem! Social justice! Yeah, baby!!

Don't eat a burger while you drive though. That is just too lawless.

I agree. Plus the asking price of $200 million is laughable. But what can Japan do that the west has not done already? They have no military presence in the ME only the trading companies and their varioius subsidiary companies.

daddy, that is some story to wake up to in Austria. Glad she is okay but that trauma may make it difficult for you buddy to take too many long home-aways.

The pic looks fake.

I have noticed that the use of "allegedly", "reportedly", and "unconfirmed" are on overdrive by the media when it comes to ISIS atrocities.

Earlier I heard the unconfirmed story that reportedly children were murdered by ISIS for allegedly watching a soccer match on tv.

There appears to be nothing fake with Boko Haram and their razing of a village, so it doesn't get reported very much.

His defense should be that he didn't feel like he was eating, Janet.

Captain Hate on the iPhone

If 404 had a son he'd be in Boko Haram.

Confirmation that it was Obama's personal decision:

White House chief of staff takes blame for Paris rally absence

“That rests on me. That’s my job,” McDonough said on NBC’s “Today.”
Miss Marple

You guys should see the promo shot for the SOTU on Twitter, put out by the Barack Obama account. I can't get it to post here but you can see it by going to Twitter and typing in @BarackObama and #SOTU.

It says "All eyes on the President" with a back shot of him in shadow with a bank of TV lights facing him.

It is very creepy.

"Besides, what does he have to say?"

If he wishes to claim credit for the greatest transfer of majority status to the opposing party in the history of the United States, who could argue with him?

Jim Miller

I'll repeat advice I have given before: Don't watch (or listen to) Obama's SOTU speech. If you want to know what he said, READ the text, and THINK about it. And then look for commentaries from people you respect.

Obviously, this doesn't apply to those who are following the speech in order to comment on it, in real time. Which can be fun, but is not a substitute for careful analysis.

(I have been doing this with politicians' speeches since the Nixon administration. It saves time, and lets you consider their arguments, rationally.)

Wheels falling off in Yemen. Shots fired at US Embassy, Interior Ministry taken over by Shiite militia. (Remember, this is Obama's success model).

Interesting that the Israelis were able to whack an Iranian general and six top Hezbollies. Apparently they were meeting to plan an assault on Israel.

I wonder how their best buddy John effin Kerry feels about it?

Oops, that should be militia takes over Presidential Palace per Interior Ministry.

Obama feels like a success, henry.

Jack is Back!

If there is any doubt, especially at Fox News, about the presence of "No-Go Zones" in France and Belgium, then you may want to read this report from Gatestone. Mrs. JiB, points out that there is a difference between a voluntary "no-go zone" and one created by the government. The latter do no exist contrary to some reports. The former are "at personal risk" decisions to make.

A number of docuentaries are linked in the article and I encourage you to watch the first one but it is in French.

This is another example of the Left and the social justice agenda denying reality in favor of appeasement hoping nothing violent will be visited upon them.

Eric in Boise

It saves time, and lets you consider their arguments, rationally

You're a better man than I, Jim. I can't consider any of Obama's "arguments", whether delivered in oral or written form, without becoming decidedly less than rational.

Has there even been a SOTU that made a tinker's damn worth of difference on any subject in the world?

from Sept. 2014 - "This strategy of taking out terrorists who threaten us, while supporting partners on the front lines, is one that we have successfully pursued in Yemen and Somalia for years.” - President Obama

Obama has proposed tax hikes in every State of the Union

Proposed tax hikes on capital gains and banks will be included in President Obama’s State of the Union address Tuesday, according to a White House announcement Saturday. The announcement continues Obama’s tradition of proposing tax hikes in his six previous State of the Union addresses dating back to 2009.

Every proposed tax hike presumably had an associated "argument," yet we know they're all b.s. because we know what he really thinks.

“Your tax plan’s going to tax me more,” the plumber named Joe Wurzelbacher told Obama at a rally in Ohio on Sunday.

Wurzelbacher told the Democratic presidential candidate he’s about to buy a company that will put him above the $250,000 income level. Obama has said he will raise taxes on people making a minimum of $250,000 – and that includes small businesses that file taxes as individuals.

“It’s not that I want to punish your success, I just want to make sure that everybody who is behind you, that they’ve got a chance at success too,” Obama told the plumber.

“My attitude is that if the economy’s good for folks from the bottom up, it’s going be good for everybody. If you’ve got a plumbing business, you’re gonna be better off if you’ve got a whole bunch of customers who can afford to hire you, and right now everybody’s so pinched that business is bad for everybody, and I think when you spread the wealth around, it’s good for everybody."

Beasts of England

A concierge travel company that I'm a member of just released their ultimate male bonding Super Bowl trip: two lower bowl tickets between the forties, limo transportation for five days, four nights at one of the area's five star resorts, and admission for two to the Playboy Super Bowl party. $85,000, excluding airfare. All hail income inequality!! ;)

Old Lurker

What I will find most depressing tonight is how many Democrats will applaud when Obama proposes to take even more of a family's accumulated assets when the parents die, and from investors who elect to invest in American firms.

These goals are as purely Marxist as they get and accordingly are as foreign to my concept of what America is to be for all of us.

But I will not be watching before, during or after.

"Do you favor sanctions now?"

Why would I? Sanctions always end up harming the innocents and plenty of Ukrainians are looking like the children of Iraq under Saddam.

" If you’ve got a plumbing business, you’re gonna be better off if you’ve got a whole bunch of customers who can afford to hire you, and right now everybody’s so pinched that business is bad for everybody, and I think when you spread the wealth around, it’s good for everybody."

Or if you don't have a plumbing business like Joe the Plumber, you can have fantasies of wealth without the reality. That's the American Fantasy.

Miss Marple

I think someone asked about this earlier today or last night:

From the story, the owner of the house:

"Donald Pyle is chief operating officer of ScienceLogic, a Reston-based cybersecurity company that monitors networks for government and private clients. He previously helped launch Juniper Networks of Herndon, Va., and was chief executive of Laurel Networks of Pittsburgh and Netcordia of Annapolis."

I doubt the inheritance changes will get passed, OL. First, most of those squishes in Congress have far greater assets than the majority of Americans. Second, rich people didn't become rich by being stupid with their assets - there are always ways to plan around inheritance taxes.

Old Lurker

I don't think they will get passed anytime soon either, Beasts. I just get antsy (and depressed) when the left focuses on the ability of passing down assets to one's children as a significant source of societal injustice. That attitude is one of the cancers that will end us as a nation and as an ideal.

Know there are 72 fewer Fascist seals clapping for BOzo lies this evening than there were in 2009 has to be some consolation. Tonight's exercise of flaccid power by the President really will be historical in that respect.
