Kim was all over this pile of adjustments on top of estimates to drive models that say the sea level is rising faster now. ValJar will not be pleased with this group of henchmen. The problem of so much empty boasting collides with the problem of content free "science." What is a SCOAMF to do?

I love this:

"The Rev. Al Sharpton was left fuming mad after the Oscars revealed its all-white list of nominees for this year´s Oscar awards on Thursday. 'The movie industry is like the Rocky Mountains, the higher you get, the whiter it gets,' Sharpton quipped in a statement released later in the afternoon. Sharpton, a critic of the lack of diversity in Hollywood, also announced he was holding an 'emergency meeting' next week to address the issue. 'I have called an emergency meeting early next week in Hollywood with the task force to discuss possible action around the Academy Awards,' he said."

Jane

I'm aghast too - which may be the first time Lisa and I have been the same thing.

Jane

I've called an emergency meeting next week to discuss action around tax cheats.

Was that DoT's concern? I thought I was the one who raised it. He should have come to NYC. On second thought, maybe not.

Jim Miller

Is there any doubt that Al Sharpton is not "fuming" but, in fact, is delighted now that he has a new shakedown "cause", and a chance to collect really big bucks from Hollywood types?

(That's a rhetorical question.)

Suggesting one's appearance is a window to your version of truthful things, would imply the glass needs some pressure-washing.

Well I'm sorry too see that Duke has backtracked on it's plan to allow Muslims to call for Prayer from the top of the tallest Christian Tower on campus. Duke nixes plan to use chapel tower for Muslim prayer call

I was thinking that from now on if their Sports boys got accused of rape, the Campus Authorities would fearfully side with any Muslims on the team instead of believing fat black exotic dancers---after all, only one bunch is committed to cutting off your head in the name of peace and Duke obviously knows who it is.

Nice job, Mister Brod(be)head!

“If I were an evangelical student attending Duke University, I would go to the administration officials today and say that after the 1 p.m. call to prayer by Muslims – I want to get on the public address system and quote John 3:16,” Jeffress told me. “I wonder how diverse Duke would be with that request?”

“Duke remains committed to fostering an inclusive, tolerant and welcoming campus for all of its students,” university spokesman Michael Schoenfeld said in a statement. “However, it was clear that what was conceived as an effort to unify was not having the intended effect.”

I think for further Kumbaya, they should all have to hold those little electrified shock wands that the Scientologists make their new adherents hold onto while answering questions.

And if they're women they should also have to undergo mandatory clitoral circumcision in this effort to unify.

Serious question; can our American Institutions of Higher Learning get any stupider?

daddy-

they did back off (are they trying to spin it as a security concern?). would think that religious groups of all stripes would have had fun with it though. and if Duke is like any other school they allow proselytizing in the various student squares through the day. Have the imam-in-training warble the adhan and have prayer rugs available?

But since services are sex segregated would they run afoul of campus feminists ...

narciso

I hadn't considered that, sanity precludes me from that conclusion, meanwhile, just set off the cold fusion bomb, re the Quinnipiac poll in Gotham,

daddy

LOL, TK.

In addition to how offensive this idea is on a Christian Campus and in regard to timing, Brodhead and Duke come across to me as guys thinking they need to improve the sound system for when the Morlocks send out their version of "the Dinner Bell," to the Eloi.

Personally I just hope that Duke is enlightened enough to let their coed student (who happens to be a professional pron actress) shoot a scene on Campus with the Muslim Prayer in the background. Maybe she could shoot the scene in the same Chapel as where the Musli, Call to Prayer is taking place.

Why not? Wouldn't that also have "the intended effect?"

rich@gmu

sbw, several steps.

1. Bank capital / holdings of EU state debts, loans to EU firms

2. Loss of export sales to EU

3. Loss of domestic sales as imports become cheap

4. Fire sales of US assets by EU owners (Russians are already selling).

Think 2008, with less buffering.

Miss Marple

The entire Duke Muslim chapel flap just shows you how out of it academia is. Normal people know this would get people upset. Not the academics though, they just wanted to be inclusive (and push their multiculturalism and social engineering on their students).

Never considered donors, students, other religious institutions (for gosh sakes, this is the home state of Billy and Franklin Graham), or the people of North Carolina.

I hope the ghost of Doris Duke haunts that administration and sends them screaming into the night. Idiots!

Duck Dynasty's Phil Robertson's comment:

Let's see. According to a quick look at a French/English dictionary, the sign could read (for the benefit of our French friends): Je suis un poulet.

(Poule also means chicken, but it is feminine, and perhaps closer to our word, "hen".

FWIW, "poulet" is also a slang word for police: "Il s'est fait attraper par les poulets." "He got caught by the cops." Which I don't think is something the French police thought up themselves.)

In solidarity with our Muslim brothers I am going to go to the campus of UC Irvine and use my bullhorn tomorrow to call them to prayers:

Mekeleke Hai! Meka Hiney Ho! And don't let the door hit you in the ass!

The UCI Muslim student union is especially toxic.

Funny how those Muslim radicals had full auto weapons in Belgium today. Back in the day Belgium was where you could get practically anything. I guess some of that still holds true.

One good thing when the Wall came down; most of the Russian troops didn't have the ammo for their weapons, and ammo for that stuff is hard to come by in Western Europe.

I don't think too many Europeans bought it anyway because of the cultural prohibitions, but some interesting stuff was to be had at the flea market in Berlin for a year or two.
