Libya is in chaos following the 2011 ouster of Qadaffi, an effort which Hillary promoted eagerly although the US led from behind. So how in the world does Hillarity! 2016 manage to shift responsibility for that onto Bush?
Or maybe Dour John will bail her out with a UN deal, the same way our diplos have pacified Syria, because we all know ISIS is easy to talk to. I think hope is Hillarity!'s plan right now.

Here's the thing about all of this birth certificate/Muslim/Communist stuff:
The administration (and previously, the candidate) does stuff to ignite suspicion. I am sure a lot of people were mortified by their suspicions when he produced that semi-official piece of paper.
If he had it, why didn't he produce it long before then? The answer, of course, was to lure people into looking foolish, because whether or not it was authentic, the Gatekeepers were going to SAY it was because Legend.
Why has he spent money keeping his school records under wraps? Why is every single thing about him a secret?
Along with the Legend thing, the other part is that a whole lot of people in official Washington and the GOP do not want to be made to look like fools. They are pretty sure that if they started demanding a baptismal certificate, his passport records, or his school records they would be produced, presto-chango, and again they would look foolish.
And it may be that he DOES have all of those records and they are exemplary, and he is just waiting for the right minute to produce them. But then you have to ask yourself, what kind of person would waste all of this time and get the country all riled up for a gotcha moment? Not a mentally healthy one, that's for sure.

JiB, I've been noting the trend in the economy via nascar stands for several years and that is the most empty I have EVER seen Daytona.
ISTM the temperature of the economy is best measured by the health of nascar as it is the sport of those mostly occupying and living the paycheck to paycheck lifestyle. Let's call it the "redneck economy." If it isn't healthy...
Attendance at Disney World is way up, but I wouldn't ascribe it to a healthy US economy as much as a favorable exchange rate for foreigners.
I'd suggest that the Daytona tourism and trade folks take a closer look at exactly what demographic is filling their pockets. It ain't middle class Americans.

Obama's war authorization reminds me of Army Hospital Maternity Wards, ca. 1968.
You had to sign the paper giving the physician discretion on administering anesthesia. If you didn't sign it, no anesthesia.

"If he had it, why didn't he produce it long before then?"
He produced the "short form," which replaced the long form and has for many years been sufficient under Hawaii law to establish one's birthplace, during the 2008 campaign.
As for his school records, he hasn't spent any money to keep them under wraps; there is a federal statute preventing the schools from releasing them without his permission. I very strongly suspect that he has withheld permission because those transcripts would expose a decidedly mediocre record.

Who has claimed he said it intentionally? Obviously it was a slip of the tongue. The only question is what it reveals, if anything. I've never asserted that he's a Muslim, just that he's an anti-American a**hole who will embrace, or at least empower, any ideology that helps to bring down America. That includes radical Islam, liberation theology, whatever it was that Jeremiah Wright's church espoused, socialism, communism, you name it. I think the slip of the tongue betrays that lack of identity in any one set of values in favor of "everything but" whatever is good for this country.

AliceH - "Sister Bernadette's Barking Dog" is a short, entertaining (for grammar nerds) book that gives the history and method of diagramming in the US. I bought it for nostalgia's sake; I had to diagram sentences in high school. The author learned to diagram in the sixth grade from Sister Bernadette at a Catholic school. Lucky girl.
The author also contributes that Gertrude Stein was a big fan of diagramming. Gertrude may have just eaten some of Alice B. Toklas's *special* brownies when she wrote:
There you have it, AliceH.

Yes, but it's hard to tolerate the same quantity as Chinese mustard. Something in the consistency of the mustard ISTM. Like slathering Vicks vaporub on the back of your tongue and getting the vapors up the throat into your sinuses.
I've found that peppers tend to inflame but mustard tends to dilate. Capsaicin? Idk but it seems to be a factor in the long term relief.

rich--I add the chili powder at the time I brown the beef, which integrates it more. The original recipe called for a cup of chopped onions and I usually add at least 5. That's the secret because the onions cook down and just make a deliciousness in the red sauce.
I had to cook it in stages and then rest but I was determined to see if that would do the trick.
At some point I started serving it over some rice. Adds texture and moister than cornbread. I use cornbread with chicken white bean chili and my clam chowder that is really a clam/potato chowder.

If DoT were a Democrat, he would ridicule other Democrats for the 3/5ths canard. He would councel them that raising this bogus historical point calls their credibility into question and that the 3/5ths compromise limited the power of the Sothern states in Congress, ultimately leading to the abolition of slavery.
No Democrat does this, because the black vote is too important. Instead, they happily claim that the Constitution is a flawed document, ratified by racists who thought that blacks weren't full persons, and that such racism was and remains woven into the "fabric of our nation."
The religion and birther stuff is far more evidence-based than the 3/5ths canard, yet we are counceled to consider courtroom rules of evidence before calling these things into question.
I object, your honor.

A little levity:
A woman who had been married twice and divorced twice was fed up. Her
first husband beat her, and her second husband ran away with another
woman. Plus, she couldn't find a new lover who could satisfy her
sexually, so she put an ad in the classifieds: Wanted: A good looking, single guy who won't beat me, won't leave me, and is good in bed.
About a week later, her doorbell rings. She opens the door to find a
man with no arms and legs on her front porch.
"I'm here about your ad," he says.
"You must be mistaken," she says.
"Let me explain," he says. "I can't beat you, I don't have any arms.
And I can't run away because I don't have any legs."
"But," she asks, "How do I know you're good in bed?"
"I rang the doorbell, didn't I?"

Not so, Ext. I pointed out that the school application would not be admissible to establish his religion, and that the short form is admissible under Hawaii law to prove the date and place of birth. as I say, TK I wasn't born here, although Howard Dean was, even though he might as well be from Ceti Alpha 6, it proves nothing,

Echoing stephanie's levity, Clarice's reference to Officer Krupke reminded me of this Month Python classic:
"Captured criminal: All right, it's a fair cop, but society's to blame.
Church Policeman: Right, we'll arrest them instead."

If it means nothing, narciso, why do we have naturalization laws?

My personal opinion is that after putting up with all of the lies and fake scandals about our candidates, ten I am content to have the "he's a Muslim born outside the US" out there.
As long as we don't have to prove it in a court, let the rumors fly.
After all, Mitt Romney was going to ban tampons, so what the heck.

narciso,
Not his first win in NASCAR. Father put him in go karts at 6 then moved the family to Charlotte so he could advance his racing. Born for speed. Not surprising.
Danica Patrick's car hauler pulled up next to me at Valerio in the Hammock the other day. She wasn't in it, of course but the the driver needed a Subway and coke.

Narc - not being born here isn't the issue (I wasn't either, fwiw); treating the citizenry that you are supposed to be SERVING with abject contempt is.

Python is frankly too normal now:

he was born here, but his mindset is alien to this country, the same can be said of Lurch, the Red Queen, and Yeargh

I think that purposely illegitimizing the Constitution is far more harmful to "the fabric of the nation" than illegitimizing Barack Obama. The former is the very definition of sedition, and is practiced by people who have sworn an oath to that same Constitution, from which their powers derive. The latter is just standard politics, practiced even by our Founding Fathers.
Obama claimed to be Kenyan in his book bio. His parents claimed he was a Muslim in his Catholic school application.
These facts may not be admissible evidence that he's foreign or Muslim, but they fairly call both claims to the contrary into question.
I would happily cite both in conversations with my aunts, uncles and brothers.

Frau@4:14 "Sister Bernadette's Barking Dog" is a short, entertaining (for grammar nerds) book that gives the history and method of diagramming in the US.
Thanks, Frau! I've added it to my (growing, never shrinking) wishlist of books.
