MM for Sec State or Sec Defense, your pick

Miss Marple

By the way, now that addiction and mental health services have been covered by Obamacare, has anyone noticed the amazing increase in TV and radio ads for addiction and mental health clinics?

Miss Marple

Just when I think I cannot hate this guy any more, we have this:

Can anyone guess what Hillary will look like after she comes out of hiding? Perhaps some liposuction to go with her latest face-lift and neck-tuck? I assume she'll wear one of those special straps to hold up her ass like Madonna.

Sorry, I realize it's dinner time for many here, so I will sadly agree not to post any pics.

Miss Marple

Attention Joe Biden!

It is your DUTY to have the president declared nutso and hospitalized at Bethesda! Get cracking!

Not every German or Japanese was a Nazi or a Shinto adherent, but we still had to utterly defeat the entire country and ideology to make the world safe from them.

I specifically remember my Dad telling me that as his unit was rolling thru Nuremberg and Munich, wiping out the last German Military opposition in the closing weeks of WW2, that they could never find a "Nazi." He said Germans would come out of their bunkers or out of the rubble with their hands up saying, "No, I wasn't a Nazi, but that guy over there, he was a Nazi," and then the guy over there would say, "No, I wasn't a Nazi, but those guys way over there, they were Nazi's, etc."

Ext. She'll be "tanned and rested" and strenuously deny any high tech fussing with her face or derriere. LOL

Didn't know they had tanning beds at Rehab centers.

Miss Marple

Based on having a sister who worked for many years as a scrub nurse for a plastic surgeon, the following procedures will have been used:

1. Dermabrasion.
2. Botox on forehead lines.
3. Mini-lift on jaw line.
4. Eye tucks.

She also will have lost about 30 pounds, will have a new glam hairdo, and hopefully (for the fashion industry) will have some more flattering clothes.

RickB

Extraneous,

I can't find any good "before and after" pics of basilisk going through molt, so I can't help.

I sure hope the staff at Chappaqua are observing the rules about staying out of the attic.

Extraneus

The problem will be figuring out a way to go back into hiding sometime in 2016. Surely she'll need a touch-up before election day.

Captain Hate

I am listening to the Bret Baire segment on Jeb Bush today speaking about his big School Education Program (while neglecting to use the term Common Core).

It strikes me that Jeb Bush apparently believes that you can create a bigger and bigger program but that it somehow will not suffer any negative consequences as a result of becoming bigger and bigger, but will instead act exactly as if it was all tiny and local.

My question again for Jeb Bush is that if it's only tiny and local, and he thinks its not going to turn into another runaway Bureaucratic behemoth, then why in the heck do you need a Bureaucratic behemoth in the first place? I do not understand how the Bush's can be so in love with massive Bureaucracies and not understand how destructive massive Bureaucracies are to the stated goals of tiny and local control.

Ignatz

--Just so this is clear -- the policy being advanced in these precincts is some kind of cold or hot war against Islamic dominated states. So, not just war (cold or hot) against Isis, but war (cold or hot) against Pakistan, Turkey, Saudi Arabia.

What I have heard in other threads is a repeal of the 1st Amendment, or at least a redefinition of it so Islam is not protected by it.

If this is not a fair reckoning of what I hear from JIB, Ignatz, and others (and I am deliberately putting this out there in controversial terms), I'm sure they will let me know. But then, I am curious what they do have in mind.

Posted by: Appalled | February 10, 2015 at 05:08 PM --

First, I believe exdem is the only guy really advocating islam be declared a non-religion exempt form 1st Amendment protections. I don't think that is correct or achievable.

Second, what I am advocating is what should be done but may very well not be achievable either.
The rise of the mullahs marked a new stage in ME islamic aggression which became more internationally focused, as opposed to its previous almost sole fixation on Israel.
Iran is the focal point of regional destabilization and international terror networks. The mullahs should be neutralized
first. They should have been neutralized before Saddam. They should especially be neutralized before they become untouchable like Pakistan.
With a stable inoffensive Iran, both Turkey and the Saudis can relax their sphincters and go back to just being asses to their own people instead of trying to balance the crazy shia mullah's and their forever imminent bomb.
With those three more stable and if Pakistan and Egypt remain relatively quiescent a lot of our problems devolve to regional pip squeaks like IS, Libya, etc. They can kill each other til the hogs come home without threatening us. If one of them does grow to a threatening size then; rubble.

Janet

After Hillary comes out of Maaco, maybe Obama can go in next. I agree with glasater that he looked glassy eyed & sweaty in that music awards video where he lied about rape statistics. Maybe he's a drug addict?

Obama thinks 25% of women in America are beaten up...& 20% are raped. He thinks Christians are evil, white men are evil, Republicans are evil, gun owners are evil, Bible believers are evil, Jews are evil, fraternity & sorority members are evil, smokers are evil, fossil fuel users are evil,...

Who's left? The drug fiend hates just about everyone.

Crap Janet, I'm only 5 out of 7.

Bibi says he is coming to speak to Congress, to address the survival of his country. Democrats are quite welcome to bend over and KMA and his. I love that Democrats pitching a fit make it clear to Jewish voters who their friends are, and making it a big deal so that more will pay attention. Zero losing one constituency at a time for the Liar Party. Keep it up, there are still 30 out of 99 state legislatures in Democrat hands. We can fix that with just a little more help from the merde touch man...

30 out of 99? Oba-math.

It would be cool if the only ones in the room were Republicans. Would send a real message. But Pelosi, Reid and Chuck You are all planning on being there.

daddy

Ha! My 06:16 post "No, I wasn't a Nazi, but that guy over there, he was a Nazi," fits in perfectly to Bret Baire's topic on The Grapevine segment, about the German Government creating an 8 member panel to investigate German Anti-Semitism, but amazingly the panel has no Jews on it.

Brett: The German Govt has created a Commission to support Jewish life and fight Anti-Semitism. It sounds like a good idea. But the committee is lacking one thing, Jews. The 8 person group does not include one Jewish individual. Not a community leader, not a scientist. Jewish leaders are not pleased, quote "Nobody would even think of creating a conference on hatred of Islam without Muslims or a round table on the discrimination of women without women." No comment so far from the German Interior Ministry.

So first they couldn't find any Nazi's, and now they can't find any Jews.

Peculiar, no? I guess only Nazi's were able to find Jews.

Miss Marple

Jack,

Heartily agree about Powers.

Sometimes I think she is getting some sense, and then off she goes into prog land again.

Jeesh!

Jack is Back

daddy,

Are you sure there are Jews left in Germany?

GMax

Yes but enough Dhimmicrats and at least one honest commited Socialist are going to make a big deal about boycotting the speech INCLUDING the Vice Dunce who is going to be tangled up with his hair plugs consultants and cant make it that it will be obvious that the haters are not just in the White House. Nice.

RickB

At the moment it appears to be mostly the Black Racist Caucus engaging in quite normal (for them) antisemitism. IOW - just another rabble move.

I don't know if it will actually have any impact on progressive fascist Jews. Their support isn't driven by reason and they're not quite at the point where the fact that 3% of France's Jews are getting out while they can has sunk in.

Extraneus

I think what's needed is a way to turn Muslims against their own trouble makers. If whole towns were reduced to rubble every time one of their sons took to Allah's glorious path of violence, that would work, but we don't have the stomach for it.

Picking off the bad imams one by one is a whack-a-mole strategy. The people themselves need to suffer enough to take up arms against those who brought the suffering. Then they'd lynch the imams who told their sons to fight for Allah.

Meanwhile, why can't we start asking innocent theological questions to high-profile Muslims on TV, such as:

We're trying to understand Islam better. We understand that Allah wants the whole world to be Muslim. But can you tell us why Allah would need Achmed to fight his battles? Isn't he all-powerful? If he wants the Jews gone, for example, why doesn't he just take them out?

Kind of like Captain Kirk would do to short-circuit a wayward computer.

GMax

More than a dozen congressional Democrats say they plan to skip Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s speech to a joint session of Congress amid conflicting signals over whether he will pull out from the March 3 address.

The way I figure it, when Bernie Saunders and Luis Gutierrez are against something, about 65% of Americans are for it.

Good point by DrK on the Josh Ernest semantic lie-fest earlier on the Jewish Deli murders:

DrK: it's irritating for you to say we've always been clear that we intended to say that it was Anti-Semitic. That's not been clear. They spent the whole day pretending it wasn't, which made them look silly. You hear Josh Ernest saying that because they weren't targeted as individuals so it wasn't a Hate Crime, it wasn't a group Crime. That makes the case that it was a Hate Crime. The idea was, for Terrorism, for an Anti-Semitic act, not that you have a grievance against the individual, but you want to attack Jews...

daddy

DrK finished on the panel with the view I expressed above on the Bush's failure to recognize what happens when you have a huge Federal bureaucracy and funding. It gets out of control.

That's what drives me crazy when DrK a few weeks back said he thinks we should have a 1 Dollar Federal Tax on Gasoline. The same logic ought to apply about giving a huge bundle of money to a Federal Bureaucracy as applies when creating a huge Federal Bureaucracy in the first place. Both are bad ideas for the very same reasons. If it's a bad idea to create the Bureaucracy, then it's at least as bad an idea and probably worse to fund then fund the damn thing with gazillions of Taxpayer bucks.

Via Insty, another example of why Jeb's support for Common Core is idiotic:

Gasps of Disbelief as ‘Live with Kelly and Michael’ Top Teacher Winner Resigns Over Common Core Testing

Gasps of disbelief followed the announcement made during an education forum aimed at unraveling for parents the intricacies of the standardized testing system. Starr was at the podium, delivering a talk on how special education students are suffering under the new system based on Common Core standards and more rigorous assessments.

Greta just announced NBC has suspended Brian Williams.

daddy

Jon Stewart leaving the Daily show.

Obvious point to make is that if NBC lets Williams back in as Anchor, then they might as well have hired Jon Stewart for the job, since one is as fake news and dishonest as the other. If they take Williams they get damned for taking him back, and if they take Stewart they'd get damned for a while for taking in a comic in a supposedly serious job, but at least with Stewart they'd pull in the young college crowd looking for yucks, whereas with Williams it's a retired demographic of dwindling old farts.

O'Reilly just said "Anybody who's enjoying the destruction of this man, you got to look at yourself here. People seem to be real happy that his career is going down the drain."

Well I will think about that on the dog walk, but at this moment I am glad his career is going down the drain and the man is destructing, because what he does in his professional position as a narrative pusher is so damn destructive to this country. So in the sense that his destruction is positive for rescuing this country from other narrative pushers like himself, I am unashamedly glad it is happening.

To the dogs.

exdemocrat

IG - a couple of thoughts: you are right, I think, that only this particular loon has floated the idea of challenging Islam's right to be considered a "religion" under the First Amendment. My point is that even if it is unlikely to succeed, the very process of raising the question and compelling Islam's advocates to defend it forces open the argument about what is 'true' Islamic practice into an open and rigorous debating forum. At the very least, this would be a real way to manifest ext's point "Meanwhile, why can't we start asking innocent theological questions to high-profile Muslims on TV, such as ..."

Also, i am not opposed to your proposed muscular assault on the principle centers of jihadism, but what worries me is the rosk of 'fighting the last war.' It seems to me that this doesn't address the asymmetric threat of Beslan or, god forbid, an EMP or dirty bomb attack here in the US.

I am very happy to see Williams disgraced and put out to pasture. He is the very epitome of the putrid garbage that has thoroughly infected TV news: the newsman as star, the newsman as part of the story. To the extent they seek to be thought of as newsmen, O'Reilly and Geraldo are identically infected.

A serious news organization would forbid its newscasters--not encourage them--to appear on Letterman, or the Daily Show, or even on their own network morning shows.

If you are at all interested in education, let me suggest that you read the big article on Carmen Farina, the new New York City schools chancellor the NYT published on Sunday. Carefully.

It seems to me, reforms or no, the elephant in the room is school choice and competition. If they screw the charter schools, as they have been trying to do, the regular public schools are bound to get worse. If there is competition, the schools will be forced to improve, unless they are all shackled to Common Core and other state and federal mandates.
