Two more people died in separate "random" attacks in Copenhagen. The Times has coverage, including the most jaw-dropping passage you will see today:
Shootings at a Cafe and a Synogogue in Denmark Leave 2 Dead
LONDON — Two attacks shook Copenhagen Saturday, with a gunman spraying bullets into a cafe where a cartoonist who had caricatured the prophet Mohammad was speaking, followed hours later by a shooting near the city’s main synagogue.
One man was killed in the cafe attack and three police officers were wounded; a man was shot in the head in the second attack and later died, and two police officers were wounded, news services reported. It was not clear if the two attacks were linked.
...
The latest attacks come as Europe is increasingly on edge over the January attacks on a French satirical newspaper and a kosher supermarket in Paris, one of the worst terrorist attacks in France. Anti-immigrant and anti-Muslim sentiment is rising in Europe, and although there was no indication who was responsible for the shootings in Copenhagen, Twitter was ablaze with anti-Muslim indictments.
I know that was my first thought - gee, those poor Muslims in Europe. As to the shooting at a synagogue, well, Obama gets his information from reading the newspaper so he won't be learning of a possible threat to Denmark's Jews in this Times coverage.
However, the Danish leadership is not utterly mystified:
Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt had earlier called the shooting at the Krudttoenden cafe a terrorist attack and said that the nation was on high alert. “We feel certain now that it was a politically motivated attack, and thereby it was a terrorist attack,” Ms. Thorning-Schmidt said.
GET ME REWRITE! The story has been substantially revised (at the same link) to reflect the news that the suspect was killed in a later confrontation with police. And the latest version, at a new link, makes some improvements:
The dual attacks in Copenhagen had a copycat resemblance to last month’s attacks in Paris, which began with gunshots aimed at cartoonists and followed with gunshots aimed at a Jewish target.
...
The latest violence comes as Europe is increasingly on edge after the January attacks in Paris, when 17 people died, representing the worst spasm of terrorism in France in decades. Anti-immigrant and anti-Muslim sentiment is rising in Europe, as are incidents of anti-Semitism.
The original version did not include the words "Jewish" or "anti-Semitism".
The anti-Muslims aren't as well armed as the pro-Muslims, it seems.

At least in the case of Europe, my belief is that there is nothing that can be done, because they allowed too many Muslims in before they recognized the threat to their civilization. Demography is destiny, and they are DOOMED.

And unlike the totally disarmed standard European, the Muslims in Europe seem to have no problem getting their hands on firearms.

Yes, I understand unwanted immigration was a fairly hot button issue in many portions of Europe in the late thirties and early forties as well, not to mention the occasional disturbance around synagogs and delis.

Stephanie - I hope you are getting better from the headaches. I went to a different headache clinic in Ann Arbor this week, where they changed all my meds around (hell on wheels right now with the switchover, out with the old and 5 new meds). The weather system does not help either, from 29.43 inHg to 30.20 inHg in the past 12 hours (29.92 inHg is Average Sea Level Pressure).
One of the new meds seems to stop the migraines in their tracks for me: Migranal Nasal Spray. Maybe something to discuss with your docs.
Again, hope you are doing well.

Beautiful job, Clarice!
Many laughs, (The Questionator), and finished it smiling.
Since they obviously think it's so damn important, I would love it if we could make everyone on TV or who writes a column wear a scarlet "D" around their neck or byline, who is either a High School or a College Dropout.
Why not? If having that degree is so important, and not having one is such strong evidence of a character flaw or mental deficiency, then lets make the MSM elites live by the rules they demand Conservatives live by and publicly 'fess up by sporting a Scarlet "D."
Hopefully we will also get a lot more Questionator examples in todays JOM threads. Here's an example:
Spin Left---Dem Candidate: Why do you think your Republican opponent wants to starve children?
Spin Right---Repub Candidate: Why do you want to starve children?
PS--The Taranto link did not work for me.

This is a long but detailed investigation of Moms Demand Action and Shannon Watts. Because she is based in Carmel, a north Indianapolis suburb, I can verify that the portions about Indiana here are true. I forwarded this to our talk radio morning guy, who has repeatedly been ignored by her when requesting an interview (one would think she would want the publicity):

Henry,
It's always pleasant to start the day with an enjoyable Pieces. Miss Marple's inclusion of the picture of a very well credentialed complete moron on a day when I choose to remember the wholly uncredentialed genius of Washington and Lincoln highlights the pretentious absurdity of the lame pursuit of a man comfortably sitting on his Throne of Highly Credentialed Skulls.

Rick, that picture may be the leading cause of peanut allergies.
A local version of Walker knows no science. Everything here is now blamed on national politics.
Posted by: henry | February 15, 2015 at 09:47 AM
Rick Ballard,
I found the picture of St. Jimmy of Plains the perfect visual for a holiday which has been watered down to include Millard Fillmore and (eventually) Barack Obama.
The other picture (which they used on Twitter) is Zombie JFK with shark teeth.
Having had a daughter go through an art school as an undergrad, I really think that parents should be warned what a cesspool most of them are. The student exhibit every year had several examples of way lefty politics, sexual deviancy, and outright disgusting attacks on Christianity.
I always went because my daughter would usually get one nice little piece exhibbited (she is quite talented) but it would be off in some corner somewhere, while the well-lit spaces went to Pope John Paull on a swing with an erection, or the life size nude (also with an erection) devil emerging from a well covered in slime and gold dust, or the oil painting of a kid's genitals as viewed from his point of view.
Credentials from art school seem to me to have been a waste of money, as she now feels her talent isn't good enough (wrong) and instead she works less than satisfying jobs.
Anyway, highly recommend going to a student art show to see what's going on, especially if it is attached to a taxpayer funded school.

Posted by: Jane | February 15, 2015 at 09:54 AM
MM - Shannon Watts would be asked questions of substance/facts where all she can do is emote and spout rhetoric. Not likely she would grant an interview where she cannot control the meme.
Overall, Mom's Demand Action is actually helping firearm rights causes as people are waking up every day and joining the fight for RKBA. States are more and more loosening laws regarding firearms instead of restricting them.

The Bangor Daily columnist Wayne Reilly has an interesting bit of history in his column. Quoting the Bangor Commercial newspaper of Jan.1,1915..."lumbermen and farmers are waiting for a rousing snowstorm that will make hauling good. Snow is in urgent need as the strain of hauling across exposed stretches of ground is one that tells on horses and men."
Who knew there was global warming 100 years ago? The lumbermen were concerned about getting enough snow to haul their logs on horse drawn sleds to the streams and rivers for the drives in the spring. Finally,at the end of the month, the headline read.."Snow at Last! Loggers Rejoice!"

The page you linked re Walker actually contains irrefutable proof of his acceptance of natural selection. Why would he strongly support school choice if he did not believe it to be a strong manifestation of desire to improve the probability of survival? Opposition to school choice or charter schools is a clear indication of rejection of the Darwinian hypothesis regarding evolution and those evincing opposition are obviously just a bunch of Neanderthals.

Fun Fact of the Day: There are no images online of Miss Marple (the Agatha Christie character, not everyone's favorite commenter, although this may also be true of her as well, I don't know) wearing shorts. Miss Marple played by Jennifer Garner is typical Hollywood.
Anyone who has read the books knows that the secret to Miss Marple's success is that she is often discounted because she is an old lady who knits, has fluffy white hair, and wears tweeds and sensible shoes. She solves mysteries by drawing parallels to her observances of human nature in her village, St. Mary Meade.
However, if everyone wants to think I resemble Jennifer Garner, it's ok with me. :-)

My daughter, who graduates in May, has been offered a year-long post-grad internship in Copenhagen.
Boat, encourage her to go to Copenhagen. Everyone should live outside the United States for at least six months. I spent a year in Australia at 16 and 2-1/2 years in the Netherlands beginning at 25.
With Copenhagen as a base she’ll be able to take trains to other fascinating places. She’ll see what retail business is really like. She’ll find wonderful foods, neat people, and learn to value each new day.

I don't know if sending an email to Marcia Fudge would do any good because there's no evidence she knows how to read. Plus I don't need an IRS audit.

I second what sbw says and I've never done more than vacation in Europe. I think that's an excellent education by itself.

My three months with a Eurorail Pass in the summer of 1969 was, looking back, one of the most important experiences of my life.

boatbuilder, I agree with sbw. As long as she will be paid enough to afford Copenhagen, can't think of many places more charming, despite recent events.

I'm just relieved this person is not being asked to portray Miss Marple--real or fictional.
Ready for Hillary!?
