The JustOneMinute comments section is a fun and informative place filled with many interesting and intelligent people. Some of us have been commenting for years - some for more than a decade. Among our merry band of commenters there are more than a few brilliant word-smiths. Over the years a good deal of unique neologisms and nicknames and acronyms have been invented. These can often be very confusing to those not familiar with them.
If you need help getting up to speed, there is the JOM Glossary Wiki to help get you started.
For those who may read JustOneMinute posts regularly, but who do not visit the comments - or for those who only lurk there, please consider this an invitation to come and participate.

Not too subtle Freudian slip by Barry's Chief of Staff Denis McDonough, who said in reference to Israel that “an occupation that has lasted for more than 50 years must end." Sounds like he's referring to the entire state, since they've only held the West Bank and Gaza since June '67.

From our ever vigilant lurker in IL White House blasts Israel for 50 years of illegal occupation of Palestine.
Perhaps not giving Israel a seat at the table will make a deal much more attainable.
Or not.

henry,
Had a funny this morning when I read how Israel had been spying on the negotiations and shared our so-called deal making with Congress:)
Obama just can't keep up. He and Lurch are the Abbott and Costello of diplomacy.

JiB, which Obama found out about because he was spying on Israel.

Hmm, my source for the "more than 50 years" version of the quote, Pam Geller, must have been mistaken. Looks like he said "almost 50 years."
Posted by: jimmyk on iPad | March 24, 2015 at 09:22 AM
jimmyk-- 'almost 50 years' so he used correct west bank arithmatic.
the bigger point here is that Obummer sent his CoS to 'J Street' the arab financed enemies of patriotic israelis. Obummer is a petulant putz who sees no USA interest, no duty, he only sees himself and politicizes everything from his personal POV. Bibi pushes back, so he is an enemy, and Obummer will use any means to attack Bibi and his voters, meaning Israel.

Actually, from the video, McDonough says "more --almost 50 years," so he started to say "more than," but corrects himself. So it was a Freudian slip.

Bret Stephens is on his game today:
"There is an upside-down quality to this president’s world view. His administration is now on better terms with Iran—whose Houthi proxies, with the slogan “God is great, death to America, death to Israel, damn the Jews, power to Islam,” just deposed Yemen’s legitimate president—than it is with Israel. He claims we are winning the war against Islamic State even as the group continues to extend its reach into Libya, Yemen and Nigeria.
He treats Republicans in the Senate as an enemy when it comes to the Iranian nuclear negotiations, while treating the Russian foreign ministry as a diplomatic partner. He favors the moral legitimacy of the United Nations Security Council to that of the U.S. Congress. He is facilitating Bashar Assad’s war on his own people by targeting ISIS so the Syrian dictator can train his fire on our ostensible allies in the Free Syrian Army.
He was prepared to embrace a Muslim Brother as president of Egypt but maintains an arm’s-length relationship with his popular pro-American successor. He has no problem keeping company with Al Sharpton and tagging an American police department as comprehensively racist but is nothing if not adamant that the words “Islamic” and “terrorism” must on no account ever be conjoined. The deeper that Russian forces advance into Ukraine, the more they violate cease-fires, the weaker the Kiev government becomes, the more insistent he is that his response to Russia is working.
To adapt George Orwell’s motto for Oceania: Under Mr. Obama, friends are enemies, denial is wisdom, capitulation is victory."

Jimmy, at least in '73 Carter had not revealed any antisemitism and the WWII generation was still alive with current memories of the Holocaust and the formation of Israel. And for a time, the US position earned fear and respect, and as you saw, nukes were not involved.
This time only a fool would think that a Jihad nuke will not sooner or later come to NYC in a container ship.
Posted by: Old Lurker | March 24, 2015 at 10:21 AM
Obama and Kerry don't care a whit about the substance of the Iranian deal. For them the deal would mean a joint Nobel Peace Prize.

Posted by: Old Lurker | March 24, 2015 at 10:22 AM
OL, that was Nixon in '73, who despite some off-color remarks about Jews came strongly to Israel's aid in that war. Carter was no friend to Israel but fortunately had Sadat to work with.
Posted by: jimmyk | March 24, 2015 at 10:27 AM
And I know we are of a "right now" mentality in most things in our society and markets, but do you really think that in the long history of the ebb and flow of Islam over the centuries, that waiting ten years for a legal nuclear Iran is more than a blink of the eye to Jihadists? Really?
Posted by: Old Lurker | March 24, 2015 at 10:28 AM
Of course, thanks for the correction, Jimmy. I was also going to refer to the pictures of our helicopter evacuating our embassy in VN to illustrate that as yet we had not been embarrassed about the security of our embassies...but I couldn't recall the date of that either so I left it out. That image, the capture of the embassy under Carter, the bombing of the Marine Barracks under Reagan, the embassy bombings under Clinton, the bombing of the Cole, indelible all, were all in the future at the time of the '73 war.

Forbes: "Could Lois Lerner still take a look at your tax returns on IRS computers? It sounds preposterous, but a new watchdog report says former IRS employees still have access to IRS computer systems long after they have no official business with the information. The report is by the U.S. Government Accountability Office, an independent, nonpartisan agency that works for Congress. The GAO investigates how the federal government spends taxpayer dollars. In the case of IRS security, the report says not well."

…waiting ten years for a legal nuclear Iran is more than a blink of the eye to Jihadists?
They have to be feeling some urgency. What are the odds of Obama's successor putting together a collection of punkass traitors anywhere near as compliant as he and his administration are at grabbing their ankles for the mullahs?

"Obama and Kerry don't care a whit about the substance of the Iranian deal. For them the deal would mean a joint Nobel Peace Prize. "
On Sunday, one of the Washington Insiders said he was in on Kerry's Viet Nam negotiations (which I don't remember) and said Kerry made all sorts of secret private deals to get the deal done which were not revealed in the docs. He said he has no doubt he is doing the same thing now with Iran. It was scary as shit.

So BOzo Inc.'s problem wasn't the Israelis knowing they were being sold out, but seeking help to prevent it?

It's becoming more and more obvious to everyone inside the beltway media that the strategy to place a rift between Israeli Jews and American Democrats came from the RNC and their desperation concerning about the dwindling support of the masses.
So let me get this straight,Republicans knew that in-bred rednecks and old white racists where a demographic that couldn't be mined anymore so they tried to create a new one.....mmmmm...........the jew?
Uhm.....o.k.You get the...uhm.....Jew.
Meanwhile, back on planet earth the U.S gets to change it's policy towards Israel ans hopefully rally for a two-state solution.
Uhm....thank you RNC?????

The mullahs *know* that Obama and his people are putty in their hands.
There is a non-zero risk that the party of anti-American traitors will lose the White House next year.
And, even if the party of anti-American traitors retain POTUS, it will likely be a different cast of anti-American traitors who may not be so hot about kissing mullah ass.

NYT today: "The roughly 300 emails from Mrs. Clinton’s private account that were turned over last month to a House committee investigating the attack showed the secretary and her aides closely monitoring the fallout from the tragedy, which threatened to damage her image and reflect poorly on the State Department. ... But they did show that Mrs. Clinton’s top aides at times corresponded with her about State Department matters from their personal email accounts, raising questions about her recent assertions that she made it her practice to email aides at their government addresses so the messages would be preserved, in compliance with federal record-keeping regulations."

It sells better than a regular vintage cloth coat, but probably not as much as you paid for it. On eBay, a coat sells for $100-$300 dollars on average. There are some exceptions. Tourmaline goes higher, as do known designers like some of the French fashion houses.
Here is a link to sold mink items on eBay:

speaking of which.... I don't do well with dictates, I get onery and over the top in my response to those. I caused a bit of a stir last year when it was suggested everyone who considered thmselves a true american had to stand with steyn in all respects, and I disagreed with that sort of dictate in colorful terms. Wen a must not speak to trolls rule was 'proposed', I kept my mouth shut to avoid any unnecessary controversy. For a long time regular commenters have politely asked the rest of us not to speak to trolls becuase it is distracting and snnoying to them. That's perfectly fine to ask, and I accommodate that, mostly. But if a commenter would like to mock, or joke with or speak with a troll, that's their discretion. So there is no 'rule' as far as I'm concerned.

"On Sunday, one of the Washington Insiders said he was in on Kerry's Viet Nam negotiations (which I don't remember) and said Kerry made all sorts of secret private deals to get the deal done which were not revealed in the docs."
The fact that John Kerry has been free to continue his sellout of the US since his Paris meetings with the enemy while that enemy was killing US soldiers will be a stain on US history forever, IMO.
Posted by: pagar | March 24, 2015 at 11:46 AM
Well, I didn't think it was a dictate. It was simply Alice saying she was going to narcisolate people who replied, so she wanted everyone to have fair warning. People were free to do what they wanted.
I am probably the one who called it a "rule" for shorthand, but it wasn't really a rule.
I scroll past trolls, because I don't have time to waste with them. Others are bothered by them. Don't think anyone needs to get all upset about it one way or the other.

Loud mouth mush mouth Peter King says he will jump off a bridge if Ted Cruz is nominee.
Why wait. Why not jump now, Petey!

"Dudu, you didn't answer the question - nice attempt to get me to not notice tho"
You took me off me game and now I literally have nothing to say.....except...except......I see us traveling down the Amalfi coast, tasting fresh lemonella from the local vendors, dining in Sorrento and traveling to the grotto where Napollean took Genevieve.
You'll have to pay though as i'm on food stamps and have no money!!!!
Oh Jane, sweet sweet Jane, could a toxic nasty Libtard troll and a crazy right-wing chick ever make it????? If so,then maybe America can make it.

pagar,
As I have noted numerous times here, John Kerry shlould be serving out his life in the Disciplinary Barracks at Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas. Instead, the good people of Massachusetts decided he was more worthy than that by sending him first to Congress then to the Senate and now he is negotiating with our enemies.
Dejavu, all over again.
And Jimmah should be relegated to the trash heap of history for allowing his DD-214 to be change to reflect an honorable discharge.

L. Gordon Crovitz in yesterday's WSJ points out that the day (Nov 10) Obama made a video touting our new Obamanet the White House sends an e mail out to its supporters asking them to "pass this on" and magically, a bunch of ultra leftist protesters, the only group pushing for Obamanet, shows up at the FCC Chairman Wheeler's house and Mau Maus his family.
This is jackboot thuggery one - two steps removed from the Nazis and the media has been silent on how it all went down.
This is coming out of the Congressional hearings, but where is our media? Bueller? Bueller?
Is this how democracy is extinguished?

I like Sheriff Joe, and apparently so do voters as he's been reelected 6 times since 1992.

Isn't there a prohibition vis a vis chatting with trolls. Maybe some of you have noticed. They don't troll when they get ignored.
Hit, you are now Lou Gehrig. See your doctor please.

"I scroll past trolls, because I don't have time to waste with them. Others are bothered by them. Don't think anyone needs to get all upset about it one way or the other"
As a troll I just want to be heard and maybe a response or two...maybe. But to be sent to coventry is like death to a troll. If no one responds to me then it's like I don't exist. Just a comment or two or even an insult here and there just to make me feel like I count.

Re trolls and single-issue posters, the adage "You get more of whatever behavior you reward" applies imo.

Miss Marple, the trolls who come here are MARXIST BASTARDS. I see ZERO reason to be friendly with them. In fact I would enjoy beating the piss out of either Ward or the WEEDOUCHEBAG.

I agree DebinNC, but I do not find the MARXIST COUP in our country to be humorous in the least.
Not to worry, we have a new DEAR LEADER here, and he will TCB.

GUS is right....if you don't engage me then it's pointless me being here.
But then who the hell is GUS,who is an obvious racist to tell party of Reagan who they can and can't talk to. Reagan raised MEN,not cowards. He encouaged debate like it was a form of combat not Jinny carter-like ignore your enemy even if it means running away cowardly stances.
