[Guest post by hit and run*]
So what did you do on your Saturday night?
Me? My wife was hosting a party with some girl friends, and I was tasked with making myself and our kids scarce. So the kids and I loaded up in our Celebrate Human Achievement Hour SUV and skedaddled to the Hillbilly Hidewaway.
What is the Hillbilly Hidewaway, you might ask? And let's be clear, you are only asking if you do not possess the gumption to click the link above, which would tell you.
The Hillbilly Hideaway is the restaurant-named equivalent of onomatopoeia. Its very pronunciation tells you what it is. A gem of a rural restaurant, hidden away just north of both Greensboro and Winston-Salem, North Carolina. The crowd there is down home, the food is down homier, and they also offer a music performance in the adjacent barn that is the down homiest (spell-check accepts both "homier" and "homiest" - who knew?).
Never ever have we had a bad dinner or a bad time there. Last night was fried chicken, country fried ham and pork spare ribs, along with sides ranging from corn, green beans, pinto beans, potatoes and corn bread. And after dinner we walked into the music hall to hear the house band playing "He Stopped Loving Her Today". My kids got restless after a few numbers, but I insisted we stay until we got to see a banjo solo. We were not disappointed.
I hope you had as good a Saturday night night as I did. But if you tell me you did, I'm not sure I'll believe you.

Besides, the Ohio Indian tribes are noted for being extremely tough warriors. The remaining Indian descendants wear that as a badge of honor. Why not promote it?
My History Prof Bro-in-Law wrote a book years ago called The Ohio Frontier: Crucible of the Old Northwest, 1720-1830 (A History of the Trans-Appalachian Frontier)
Didn't get the best ratings, but I enjoyed the heck out of it. He went into plenty of detail on the warrior prowess of the Indians, but what stuck with me was that he said the Indians were fabulous cussers---they would absorb the filthy language from the early fur trappers in the region, and from his research he wrote about how the as missionaries and early settlers showed up, they wrote constantly at how appallingly vulgar was the swearing in English of the Natives.
That tickled me. It reminded me of Ichirio's famous line to Costas in that video'd interview which I can't link, where Costas asks him something like what's his favorite American expression and he replies "August, in Kansas City, is hotter than 2 rats f##king in a wool sock," at which point everybody breaks down in tears of laughter. Human nature:)

That Dr K comment that narc linked at 10:47 is a bit strange: He said that Israelis have made very unfavorable swaps for prisoners. But have they done it for a deserter? Or, to put it more accurately, has anyone they've ever swapped for been subsequently charged with desertion?

yes, these exchanges have not gone well, the first big one in 1983, the Jibreel, freed most of the leaders of what would become thee intifada, it has gone down hill from there,

Frau,
Best wishes for a good surgery! Mine went pretty smoothly, though the first fellow I hired had older technique (which took longer to heal) and was an absolute a**hole. The second one, the department chair at UC Davis, was a lot better, and so were the results.
FWIW, functionally I was blind for about a year before I had both eyes bobbed. The surgery corrected all of that. And that was over a decade ago.

no I don't think it's ever been that bad, a subsequent result,
I recall the first bout of Arizonaphobia, in 1990, and Public Enemy, Farrakhan's troubadours, this was before gangster rap, rather spirited suggestion to resolve the dialogue, it's not unlike the message directed at Cruz in the LUN.

Breitbart:
"The Hillary Clinton confidant who was caught running a clandestine intelligence service for her may have also illegally lobbied for Russian President Vladimir Putin’s ally in the nation of Georgia. According to a Gawker report, Sidney Blumenthal, the top Clinton confidant, and 'another former official from Bill Clinton’s administration were secretly lobbying the secretary of state on behalf of a billionaire in the former Soviet state of Georgia who was seeking closer ties with Putin’s Russia—seemingly in violation of a federal law designed to prevent foreign powers from covertly wielding influence within the United States.'"
Blumenthal...Blumenthal...say, wasn't he the fellow who had that wife-beating thingy in there? And didn't he get a DUI?

Posted by: maryrose | March 31, 2015 at 06:35 AM
Good luck Frau.
Up early. Mrs. JiB in the air Munich to Miami. Frederick and I leave in a couple of hours to drive down and get her. Spending 5 in Key Biscayne. Taking in the Miami Open then down to Hawk's Key for 3.
My favorite outcome is a deal so bad we accept and France vetoes it at Security Council.

JiB- French veto at UNSC. I had that exact thought last week. Then I woke up.

Frau, good luck with the cataract surgery.
My Mom had it a couple of years ago, and it was life-changing for her. It made SUCH a huge difference.
One thing she found, until they did the other eye, was that it was a big adjustment because her brain had to get used to her right eye being the far better one (since that was the worse one, that's the one they did first). She felt weird for a few days until her brain rewired itself accordingly.

Your daily Wretchard:
http://pjmedia.com/richardfernandez/2015/03/30/payday-loan/
He compares Obama and the Iran negotiations to one who needs a payday loan -- hock anything or accept a high interest rate simply to get by.
Posted by: DrJ | March 31, 2015 at 08:10 AM
Re: the poll showing approval for a deal with Iran. The part that truly depresses me (aside from dishonest questions portraying a deal nothing like the one that's actually being negotiated) is that a majority both approves of a deal; and also believes that a deal will not be effective.
How the hell do you reason with people who think that way? (I suppose I ought to insert something about "peck and droolers" here)

Douhat has an interesting column about further consequences in gay rights laws:
http://douthat.blogs.nytimes.com/2015/03/30/questions-for-indianas-critics/?_r=0
Even more interesting is this final paragraph in one of the comments:
"The answer to every question that Mr. Douthat asks is the same. No person, no gay person, no black person, no female person should be treated with disdain because of their biology. Those who might do so are acting out of ignorance. They will now have to experience the social pain and rejection they they've inflicted with impunity on others. They will lose their relevance, their dignity and their tax exemptions. They will become what they have abused and hated. I'm a little embarrassed to admit that I will enjoy their pain. But I'll get over it."
So, the motive is apparently revenge. Nice.

JamesD-- Cmon be realistic. Even a physically and morally courageous Edwardian raised Winston Churchill said that it is the statesman's job to first make jaw-jaw, rather than war-war. The basic instinct of the LI Citizen is to use military force as a last resort, and so it should be. More importantly, the poll result is completely meaningless because of the farcical question. This is ABC trying to salvage something for their Obamaniac teammates, nothing more.

Just checked and library has your BIL's book. Mrs. Buckeye wants to read it as she is descendant of some notable early settlers in the area.
Most interesting character was a guy named Richard Henderson. A Jamestown lawyer who ended up coming this way to make his fortune bigger. He was the guy who hired Daniel Boone to do the exploring.
Family folklore is that he was mentally imbalanced. Got pissed off when George Washington wouldn't give him enough territory to create a state he wanted to call Transylvania. Think he died broke.
Hendersonville, KY is named after him.
Posted by: Buckeye | March 31, 2015 at 08:35 AM
NK, I think it helpful to understand that a large segment of the left wants revenge. Many blacks feel this way, as can be seen in the actions and posters during their demonstrations. A great many student leftists feel like the US should "make up" for having the most wealth by giving it away. Much of the tax policies pushed by the democrats play on this revenge angle. demonizing people who earn money as if it was simply luck that got them success.
And so it is with a segment of the gay community, as is seen in that comment. This isn't about anything but getting revenge for past wrongs which the current group of Christians didn't even perpetrate.
And when they have destroyed the Church (which a large number want to do) they will turn on someone else.
