[Guest post by hit and run*]
If I was going to try and pull an April Fools joke on JustOneMinute readers, this is what I would have posted as the new thread.
But I didn't. So let's go with an Open Thread instead.

This is no April nonsense...
BBC;
The Palestinians have formally joined the International Criminal Court (ICC), a key step towards being able to pursue Israelis for alleged war crimes.
After a ceremony at The Hague, Foreign Minister Riad Malki said Palestinians sought "justice not vengeance".
But Israel denounced the move as "political, cynical and hypocritical".
The ICC's chief prosecutor launched a "preliminary examination" in January, after the Palestinians signed its founding treaty, the Rome Statute.
Although Israel has not ratified the Rome Statute, its military and civilian leaders could face charges if they are believed to have committed crimes on Palestinian territory.
Palestinian militants will also be open to prosecution."
Their concern is well founded.

"This month, the Center for Food Safety (CFS) and Animal Legal Defense Fund (ALDF) have sued the FDA for withholding records pertaining to ractopamine's safety. According to the lawsuit, in response to the groups' requests for information "documenting, analyzing, or otherwise discussing the physiological, psychological, and/or behavioral effects" of ractopamine, the FDA has only produced 464 pages out of 100,000 pages that exist. Worse, all 464 pages have already been released as part of a reporter's FOIA. Thanks for nothing.
CFS and ALDF have spent over 18 months meeting with the FDA and seeking information about the effects of ractopamine on "target animal or human liver form and function, kidney form and function, thyroid form and function" as well as urethral and prostate effects and "tumor development." The lawsuit says the CFS has "exhausted administrative remedies" and that the FDA has "unlawfully withheld" the materials.

a bit -
"
If I were gay, I would watch out. Right after the Jews, repressive regimes go after the gay people.
It happens every time.
That's the history of the world.
This explains why President Obama embraces such an anti-gay regime as Iran.
The Saul Alinsky crowd is using gay people like toilet paper. Gays should demand something for their services as human shields more than a damned wedding cake.
Black and Hispanic people come next. If I were black, I would want something better than the likes of Barack Obama as president. I would want crime-free neighborhoods instead of riots and looting every time a police officer must kill some strung-out petty thief.
This post is not meant to discourage anyone from fighting back. Hell yes, we fight back. With facts.
My purpose is merely to point out the broader picture. This is not about gay rights. This is about ending religious freedom."

I believe Ignatius provided one of the very best examples of boot licking sycophancy I've ever seen in that piece. His description of the steaming pile left by the Iranians on their Persian Rug as "fruit" applies to every progressive "success" of recent memory.
I'm happy he pointed to Red Witch as the instigator, even as he lauds BOzo's stewardship of the failure.

Just in case anyone is aware of any Justina Pelletier "medical kidnapping" type cases, I received this today about a professor at
UNC who is researching the topic and looking for families's accounts.
A researcher at University of North Carolina, Prof. Maxine Eichner, is writing about the rising numbers of medical child abuse charges being leveled at parents of children with genuine, complicated medical issues. That researcher is trying to get a rough count of how often such charges are getting made against parents, and of how these charges are being resolved. Unfortunately, no centralized records are kept of these charges.
To get a better count of how often these charges are getting made, we are asking for your help. If charges of medical child abuse have been made against you or a member of your family, can you please let us know by filling out this survey? All identifying information will be treated as confidential. Although the researcher will release the total numbers and geographical areas of the cases gathered, no information that could identify individual cases will be released. Neither will anyone else connected with the case be contacted.
If charges of medical child abuse have been made against you or someone in your family, we’d greatly appreciate it if you would fill out this survey by April 15. We would also appreciate if you could spread the word about this survey to others who may find it relevant.
The survey should take around 10 minutes to complete. Thank you so much for your assistance with this research.
Here is the link to the survey:

DoJ is letting Lerner completely off the hook completely while Issa has lost control of his bowels and turned up squat. I sat in a room 2 years ago with him and he told us he had the goods on the IRS. Same with benghazi. So far it's Obama 2 (or 4 or 6 or 8) and the Republicans Zero.

It's not about the better argument, it's not about rights, it's not about freedom, it's not about a good economy, it's not about national safety.
It's about power, gaining, holding and wielding power. Nothing more.

DoT has effectively laid out the inability of Congress to prosecute executive branch malfeasance as a designed by the Founding Fathers. I honestly believe that they had no idea that the voters would ever put in a crew as scummy as we have now but there you have it.
The only thing I'd say differently is that the GOP is continually undermined by RINOs keeping the party from protesting the unprosecuted criminality of the donks with a unified voice. I also think we need an Article V convention to lift us out of the post Constitutional setting. I know that upsets a lot of others afraid of what might result but the current mess is unsustainable imo so what have you really lost?

The problems with the Art V Convention are two: There are not enough well spoken conservatives to sell the medicine required nor are there enough ears willing or capable to hear what they say; and since our left has been so successful at getting its way by ignoring the existing rules (Constitution), why would they want to encourage a new set of rules or any rules at all?
Hard to see why red states want to be tied to the blue hells much longer. Rats, ships, etc.
Posted by: Old Lurker | April 01, 2015 at 04:34 PM
A situation like the current one is why Article V was included; I doubt that it would have been ratified without its inclusion.
