I sure hope no one explores the question of which Elton John song best represents the to-be-announced-tomorrow Ready for Hillarity! 2016 presidential campaign.

I once saw a guy crack open a can of Miller, take a swig, and spit it out in disgust. We cut the can open and found an embalmed mouse inside.
Never drank from a can again.

Ext - One of Miller's breweries is just up the road from us, close to the VA border. One of the guys I play in pool league had a fairly similar experience (I can't remember if it was a mouse, but something ghastly with something in one of his cans).

If you're still here, henry, I left my query about Hopkins on the other thread.
The context of this is that my youngest has until April 15th to say yes or no to the Arizona, Yale, Emory, Hopkins and Washington University (St. Louis) MPH programs. I figured that with the diverse variety of backgrounds of JOMers, I'd ask whether anyone had any insights.
Posted by: Thomas Collins | April 11, 2015 at 05:28 PM
Alrighty then.
Wash Examiner "President Obama on Saturday told leaders of Latin American that he´s "not interested in having battles that, frankly, started before I was born."
That would indeed make his job easier. No pesky Constitution, no Federalist Paper debates, No pesky treaties and alliances, the list of battles as old as the country is staggering.
Then again, I wonder why he cares about slavery back before he was born, or what whitey did or didn't do to Indians.
I am so confused.

Funny story. Our first apartment was a four unit duplex. The downstairs neighbors played their stereo full blast in the middle of the night. Their favorite song was "The Bitch is Back." Hit,
At the layover Hotel in Taiwan they give us a free drink coupon for the Lobby Bar, but it is only good for soda's or for their only beer on tap, Taiwan Beer. It is so bad that I now give away my free beer coupon to my buddies, and for a congenital beer drinker like me turning down a free brew is so uncharacteristic I'm almost ashamed of myself---but man, is it putrid.

I drink Miller from bottles, CLEAR glass bottles.

I sure hope no one explores the question of which Elton John song best represents the to-be-announced-tomorrow Ready for Hillarity!
"Bitch is Back" is the obvious choice, but I think a more subtle - nuanced - choice is "Too Low for Zero."
OT, a couple of days ago I went for my annual physical. The pretty female doctor, all of about 29, told me, "You have a very low heart rate, for a man your age."
This made me feel very old.
However, today, I went to pick up a riding lawn mower I bought on craigslist (it's not just for hookers anymore...) WHen I got to the place, I pulled truck and trailer over to the side of the road, about six inches onto the neighbor's parking strip grass.
Right about that time, an old guy and his wife pull up next to me and indicate I should roll down the window. I do, and the old guy says to me, "You want to just drive right onto my lawn?"
So essentially, an old man told me to get off his lawn.
Young again.

I have a
"Withering"Question.Whatever happened to "Withering Questions?"
Remember when Obama couldn't open his mouth without a "Withering Question" popping out? Remember back in the halcyon early days of this Administration when the only adjective the NYTImes was authorized to use in regard to Obama asking a question was "Withering?"
Well I remember it. I remember reports of Army Generals and Navy Admirals and Senior Marine and Air Force Officers cowering in befuddlement at the President's "Withering Questions."
Same with his advisors and other assorted underlings. None of them were named or actually described as doing anything of any use whatever, except that they contributed beautifully to reports of being the cannon fodder that were struck dumb by Obama's "Withering Questions?
Well what the hell ever happened to "Withering Questions?" Where did they go?
One would think that with all the recent reporting on Rand Paul being "prickly" or "petulant" or "thin-skinned" about answering questions from Savannah Guthrie or the Guardian or CNN or whomever, that surely they could find the decency to not simply denigrate Rand but instead actually describe the questions he is so afraid of answering as "Withering."
Why can't Savannah Guthrie ask a "Withering Question?" Is it an anti-woman Sexism thing?
Why can't the Guardian ask a "Withering Question?" Is it a Racism thing because the Guardian is a bunch of White guys?
Who banned "Withering Questions" and why can't we ask 'em any more?

Enjoyable Steyn column on Anthony Quinn. I recall that in his later years he made a movie which was something like "The Life Of Mohammed" and in it Quinn responded to a Muhammed that was never shown on camera since Mohamed supposedly is not supposed to be depicted.
I wonder if that movie was made today if a Fatwa of some sort would be issued against the producers and actors for even pretending to depict Muhamid?

When was Trudeau's shit cartoon EVER funny?
One of the things that bothers me is that the Japan Times features another unfunny and shitty cartoonist, Ted Rall. He writes guest Op-Eds for the paper and I have to wonder what sort of impression about America that gives to the local Japanese guy reading his anti-American drivel.
I love Japan, but I hate how almost all their media input comes from CNN, BBC, and the International Herald Tribune---(WaPo and NYTimes). And then if they listen to local US Radio they'll get hours of daily NPR.

Raul Castro wouldn't know an honest man if one bit him in the ass. And if Obama is humble, I'm a Yankee fan.
