Hey!

Sandy "I stand with Walker - 2016" Daze

I have a future in mind...

Jane on Ipad

His legacy is going to be tough. His biggest supporters are lukewarm, and on to Bernie Sanders.

sbw

Obama will practice accepting tribute with the grace of the Clintons but is not up (down) to their standards.

sbw

The future I hope for Obama’s legacy happens is a patient exposé by President Walker of the Jarrett machine’s rape of the government and the people.

Once he loses the 'power' of the presidency and the fear it engenders in a large faction of heretofore admirers......poof! No more worshipful knee-bending.

Geraldo also says the Occupy Wall Street guys are there, professional agitators who go from town to town. (Those are HIS words, amazingly.) He says he recognizes some of them from when they were in New York.

Soylent Red

He will spend the next 40 years - until cigarettes, AIDS, or a drug habit get him - running down the the United States, hobnobbing with dumbass celebrities, traveling to golf vacations on someone else's dime, and being the generally detestable loudmouth bullshit artist his bastard upbringing trained him to be.

IOW, everything he is currently doing, but without the responsibilities of showing up each day for two hours of photo ops and pretending to have any patriotism at all.

Buckeye

All of this is happening to the cops in B'more for a very simple reason.

Making a case against cops associated with a black kid's death was on Zero's "fuck it" list.

All the easier when the Mayor and the State's Attorney are willing to take your marching orders.

Does disorganizing a nation look good on the resume of a guy looking for a community organizing gig?

Miss Marple

I will bet 10 bucks that the White House has been waiting for a case like this which they can coordinate with. I am very disturbed by both the prosecutor's remarks and those of the mayor. I am really suspicious of that Valerie Jarrett conference call with the mayors.

Along these lines, how in the hell did Marion Barry live to be 78?

That level of injustice almost tempts me to go SJW.

FTL

Zero out of office will be angling to head the UN.

I am pretty sure that was the Clintons' plans before the Sore/Loserman election and then 9/11 forced them into the fake foundation route to feed their greed for graft.

In fact, had either Gore or GWB won with an indisputable margin, we probably would have had a carbon tax going straight from our pockets to what would effectively become an international government by the end of 2004. Slick Willie and his gang of grifters would have been shoulder deep in that trough.

That was the trajectory we were on until the Sore/Loserman attempted coup rallied the right and thereby obligated GWB to conservatives.

A long time ago at a work luncheon with a cardiologist and epidemiologists present, one of them raised the point that drunks who die of liver disease and smokers who die of lung cancer likely had horse hearts since both smoking and heavy drinking are hell on the cardiovascular system.

But that was a long time ago, and as you said, it's probably old data.

My point is that I am sure he would have started left of even where our RINOs are today had there been no Sore/Loserman overreach to polarize the country.

Miss Marple

I don't believe Cheney would have accepted a vice presidential position with someone who was going to govern to the left of the RINO's.

You guys, it's enough that you don't give him credit for governing in a fairly conservative way, given the difficulties he faced.

You don't have to make up what you THINK he would have done and then criticize him for that, too.

Where? Rejoining UNESCO? Medicare drug plan? NCLB? Budgets out of control? Corporatism like that steel bailout that had no economic purpose?

rse,

Repealing a great many of Clinton's EO's which went on the books right before he left office; reducing taxes; refusing to sign on to the Kyoto treaty; attempting to reform Social Security (dead in the water because of the cowards in Congress); increasing military spending; honoring the military; NOT embarassing and denigrating the US on the world stage.

I said "fairly" conservative.

I realize he wasn't far right, but the choice was him or Gore, and if Gore had been president on 9/11, we'd probably be wearing burquas by now.

He was a decent man, and a detailed examination of his presidency along with the undermining of it by members of Congress from both sides of the aisle will be a good historical study some day.

I am more concerned about the present danger of Obama.

Deb(inNC)'s 7:57 is pretty damning find that should be an interesting set of circumstances at the preliminary hearings or during discovery. In fact, if I was the police union I'd be making this a spotlight on the investigation and rush to judgement. Mosby, her team, her connections to Murphy, her husband et. al. are probably more criminally complicit than anything the BPD Six did.

Miss Marple

Well, I give up on that post which is picking up junk when I try to post it.

It's an article outlining how far Pence's popularity has fallen and how both wings of the party are disgusted with him. Also notes a primary challenger will be difficult on the party's chances, but there is a strong hint he probably shouldn't run again.

Extraneus

The homey with the gold teeth seemed credible.

jimmyk

Miss M @8:05, I agree, but the real takeaway is that to move the country a bit to the right one really needs someone willing to articulate a much stronger conservative vision. If you start out with "compassionate conservatism" and don't have that fire in the belly, the Dems will see that as a sign of weakness, and take full advantage.

When Reagan won in '80 he still had a big D majority in the House, and managed to push through the Kemp-Roth tax cuts anyway, because of his forceful campaign and strong victory. GWB is a fine man and, as you say, "fairly conservative," but didn't scare the Democrats.

"It became necessary to destroy the village in order to save it."

Miss Marple

What we need NOW, jimmyk, and what was possible to win THEN are two different things.

When Bush was elected in a close race, scaring the democrats wouldn't have worked to our advantage. (Plus do not forget that Bush was saddled with Trent Lott leading the GOP in the Senate).

We were coming off 8 years of Clinton, a fairly good economy, and a lot of Clinton's missteps on national security wouldn't become apparent until the WTC was hit.

Pelosi ran the House for the first two years, too, which is another anchor he had to drag around.

I do think we need someone who has both the character of GWB and the ability to articulate conservative principals and a willingness to stick to it, which would indicate someone like Walker as a good candidate.

Events move where they will, however. I am just watching as my involvement in this election will be mostly as an observer and voter. I will vote for whoever the GOP nominee is, as I cannot bear the thought of 8 more years of these anti-American Marxists in charge of the nation.

Barbara

So happy about the daughter being born in England to the Waleses. I would love to have them name her Diana, but that might be too great a burden for her to carry forward.

Congratulations to the happy parents!

Yes, that would be nice, Miss M.

I hope it's not Alice. That was the name of Camilla's grandmother who was the mistress of George V, I believe.

I find it difficult to believe Deb's 7:57.

We all know that it would take a vast amount of people to construct a false narrative that would get presented as legitimate on a national stage.

Plus there is all that time machine stuff needed so they could plan the lie long before the specific lie is necessary.

If we were to be convinced that a false accounting of critical information could defraud all national media but be dissected properly by one little blog on the internet, think about everything else we might be forced to accept.

Too risky for my natural born blood.

Captain Hate

Bush was saddled with Trent Lott leading the GOP in the Senate

Ugh. None of this should detract from my point that the Bush family has reversed almost everything Reagan accomplished. Plus they're obviously more happy playing nice nice with the Clintons than conservatives.

This shouldn't be a controversial point to make. I voted for GWB as many times as I voted for Reagan but I'm not going to pretend he was something he wasn't.

Jane

won't she have at least 5 names?

Miss Marple

Captain Hate, I think the difference is that I was ok with what he was, while some people were thinking he would be more conservative than he intended to be.

You see, I am used to never getting what I want, so it didn't bother me that some of my preferred positions weren't taken by GWB.The prescription drug bill was in his platform, so that shouldn't have been a surprise to anyone.

I am positive that whoever gets the nomination will not be in agreement with me on all things. Possibly even most things.

I am from the "here are your two choices, choose the best one to lead" camp.

By the way, what things Reagan accomplished did Bush 43 reverse?

Captain Hate

Furthermore after the performance of this Repuke Senate, I don't feel reason to hold back on criticism of the GOP. At least half of them need to be horsewhipped if not hung by the neck.

James D.

CH @ 11:08

Only half?

Captain Hate

By the way, what things Reagan accomplished did Bush 43 reverse?

He spent money like a drunk sailor. Any concept of budgetary constraint went out the window under his watch thanks in part to Rove. His asshole father was the biggest offender by dialing back on RR's hope that he gave for Eastern Europe to throw off the yoke of Communism and confusing everybody who thought they had a green light. Signing the ADA was another dumbass move along with getting snookered on raising taxes.

Cecil Turner

I find it difficult to believe Deb's 7:57.

Same here. In fact, it doesn't hold up even under basic scrutiny.

The arrest record for the 38 year old shows he was arrested at 13:40 at 2100 Crimea Rd . . . that's about five hours too late and on the wrong side of the main north-south rd (highway 1) to be on the way to the station.

Best guess is that somebody got some of the basic facts wrong . . . but it certainly doesn't prove what that story claims it does.

East Bay Jay

I'm watching that The Draft documentary on PBS and what a load of bunk right out of the blocks. They open with noting the multiple tours of today's US soldiers in the Middle East in order to note how unfair it is. In an all volunteer army. What, what?

I was actually prepared to give the show credit for noting how an experienced fighting force should be more effective but, alas, they never made that point. Just couldn't see it. I accept that nobody that worked on this show had any military experience. It's PBS. But can't you pick up the value of experience from watching a John Wayne movie? Then again, these folks probably haven't.

Captain Hate on the iPhone

GWB continued to inflict Powell on the nation along with Rice, whom I realize some here think positively of while ignoring all the daft things she did in office. W should have pardoned Libby; I think it's inexcusable on his part not to do so for whatever reason.

However, about ten years later, as an admin at Doctors Hospital, she watch the old codger come every day to visit a dying friend.

The Infamous Ignatz

I've made no secret of my problems with W, but let's face it it's a party-wide problem of not just bad political philosophy but, far too often, the same kind of demonizing of actual limited government policies that the Dems practice.
The GOPE wants to make a big tent party but they don't want to use any more fabric so every time they move the tent to the left to try and cover more people who don't want to be covered they leave the guys on the right out in the rain.
They end up not only losing nationally more than they should but also manage to do nothing of value when they do win.

DebinNC

Excellent "leave the guys on the right out in the rain" word picture there, Ig.

The author's reply:

Electronic data time, as opposed to real time story telling is always a precarious proposition to compare.

Example: A reporter might say a suspect was arrested at noon (witnessing him being picked up, handcuffed and/or put in cop car), but the suspect might not be processed through booking (prints, id and mugshot) until 3 or 4pm which shows as his electronic arrest time.

You can’t rely on the summary data without inspecting the specific documents (reports) of the arresting officers for accurate times.

A suspect could sit in holding, or be in the process of being processed per se’. So timeline comparisons are only good for approximately am or pm type comparisons.

He is still thinking he can pull his conspiracy theory back together.

Cecil Turner

Cecil, did you see this exchange in the comment section?

I didn't, but considered that the time stamp might not've been dispositive. The bigger problem to me is the geographic location. Unless the arrest location is wrong--or somebody previously transported the 38 yr old suspect past the station to the pickup point--and now we start getting dubious details piling up.

Bottom line: he can either use the arrest record to make the point, or not. If we can't trust the data, then . . .

Miss Marple

Captain Hate,

I am specifically talking about Bush 43, not 41.

The spending was in return for getting backing on the war.

Bush 41 doesn't count. And Reagan didn't cut spending very much, either.

Jim

TODAY, PLEASE, TODAY!!!!!

Bush 43 created an atmosphere that led to 404 being elected. Quite a legacy imo.
