File this under you can never be too cynical.
I suppose I can take credit - like 99.9% of the rest of the world - in claiming the IRS wasn't going to come a calling when it came to looking into the Clinton Foundation's tax exempt status. But when I did so, I made this crack:
Besides, if the IRS did approach Hillary about the matter, her response would look something like this.
That link goes to video of Hillary working a rope line by telling someone in line to go to the back of the line.
Well. Instead of Hillary treating the IRS that way - it appears it is the IRS treating members of Congress in this very fashion.
A House Republican called out the IRS on Thursday for sending her a form letter in response to concerns about the Clinton Foundation's tax exemption.
The IRS's response to Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) was addressed to "Sir or Madam," and the senior agency official who runs the tax-exempt division didn't sign it.
Yeah, yeah, the impersonal nature of addressing a Congresswoman in this manner is troubling. But more importantly, it is appalling in this day and age that even form letters can be so triggeringly microaggressive. How did the IRS know that the recipient of the letter would identify as a sir or a madam, and not one of the other 57 varieties of genderish identification?
The IRS got lucky that Ms. Blackburn was only outraged by the lack of urgency and by the agency on the matter at hand and the lack of "tact" in perfunctory nature of the letter, otherwise there might have been hell to pay. But this is Barack Obama's America where Congress is just an afterthought, so they will be relatively safe with their response. From the IRS letter:
The Internal Revenue Service has an ongoing examination program to ensure that exempt organizations comply with the applicable provisions of the Intern Revenue Code. The information you submitted will be considered in this program.
So, yeah, the IRS isn't interested in examining the Clinton Foundation. Back of the line for you, Ms. Blackburn! The sun also rose in the East this morning, and I can confirm that when I brushed my teeth earlier that the water was still wet.
The most we can hope for here is that someone at the IRS goes to sensitivity training.
First! Everyone still sleeping?

Starting to see a pattern? GOPers are starving the beast in order to force compliance, and the IRS administration is intentionally cutting where it'll be most noticeable. (Shades of National Park Service during the gov't shutdown.) Form letters to Congress are of a piece with the rest of it.
The answer is obvious: impeach Koskinen. Let's let a bunch of Dem lawmakers try to defend him in the court of public opinion. And pass the popcorn.
Why not hold in in Contempt of Congress and send the Seargeant at Arms to detain and jail him? They do have that power, don't they, even if it hasn't been used in...has it ever been used?
Another thing the Congress could do would be to pass legislation specifying travel requirements for executive branch employees (including Presidential appointees):
All domestic travel to be by railroad (or bus, where rail travel is unavailable). All travel is to be by economy-class ticket.
Hotel costs are to be capped at $80 per night.
Per diem for food and entertainment expenses is to be capped at $20 per day.
Conference registration or other travel-related fees paid by the employer are to be capped at $250 per year per employee.
Employees are not allowed to accept any reimbursement from any other organization for any travel costs, regidtration fees, etc.
Oh, and publish on the internet the name, job title and hometown of every executive branch employee who has travelled on the taxpayer's dime over the past 6.5 years, along with the # of trips, the destinations and the total taxpayer cost of the travel. And the name, job title and hometown of whoever approved that travel. Make it a nice, friendly site, easily searchable. Publicize it heavily. Let's let the taxpayers see exactly who and what they're paying for.
Of course they'll moan and cry. Let them. And of course Obama will veto it. Let him.

Bruce Jenner caused a car accident in which a person was killed, but for which he has not yet faced the legal consequences.
But Bruce Jenner no longer exists and Caitlyn Jenner was nowhere near the place on the day in question. Just ask the witnesses, none of whom would identify the driver as a tall, scary, thin, buxom woman with great fashion sense who tosses a mean javelin.

A few years later I met his wife, Red (now ex)and we became close friends. I went to his daughter's wedding in England and to visit them in Oz for a month in 2002.
Alan started out as a sign painter and at one point was the wealthiest man in Australia. Then he went to jail for 3 years where he spent his time teaching inmates business practices.

narciso, standard sports franchise extortion. Based on past rounds, the state budget of WI is hostage to $460 million loss if ransom in the form of a new arena is not payed. What is not clear is how the mechanics of this deal work (on the surface, no tax for Lambeau expansion or Miller Park). From the radio this morning, if the Bucks leave Milwaukee, they have to pay off the bonds.
Its not clear this is a good deal, only a worse deal is possible. It is also not clear the legislature will pass the deal.

I don't know what the Zen Master plan is for the Knicks but he hasn't been very good as a GM/Preznit/whatever so far; for example the Cavs wouldn't be in the Finals if JR and Shump weren't given to them. According to my daughter, Columbia tolerating dimwits while running roughshod over the rights of the delusionally accused isn't a recent phenomenon. Hell, they probably should have expelled a certain chinless undergrad in the 60s instead of caving like feckless cowards.

I think "extremely toxic" is probably the kindest thing you can say about the Knicks over the last 15 years.
There may well be worse-run profesional sports franchises than Dolan's Knicks, but I don't think there's any franchise that has sprnt as much money as they have to be as bad as they've been, or that's wrecked as many careers.

but the way he and his fellow dipshits blithely disregard any standards of confidentiality and the mistrust that breeds has to be near the top.
It was the same thing with Clenis. My brother is AF reserve but his job is all software. He was outraged at the careless shit Klintoon's admin was doing and bitterly pointed out that in a normal world, the red-nosed predator would not even get security clearance to do my brother's job. Gah.
