For the umpty-bumpth time I am reminded that i will never be smart enough to be a progressive. After years of wrestling with the notion that, contra science and biology, race is a social construct, I am now informed by our President that here in America, racism is "part of our DNA".
Of course, he also said that racism has not been "cured", so either he is advocating for breakthroughs in gene therapy or this is another failed metaphor.
JUST GRUMBLING, or, WADDYA MEAN "WE", BLACK MAN? I am strangely certain that when Obama says that racism is in "our DNA" he doesn't mean his DNA. And certainly not Michelle's. But since I am Anglo-Irish, yeah, I am surely included in Obama's DNA racism range. Whatever. I guess I'd feel worse if I could help myself, but having been born this way...

And not every single sentence out of Gutfelds mouth Ned's to be a joke.
I tried That Kelly show but I turned the channel after about 5 minutes. Unwatchable.

Here's a thought that amuses me (though perhaps it shouldn't).
During the 2008 election someone dug up Obama's mother's family and and found a slave owner way back when.
And I am reasonably sure that a similar investigation would find slave catchers among Obama's father's ancestors in Kenya. (Typically, the Arab slave traders worked with black allies on the coast to raid tribes in the interior. Often those allies became Muslims.)
I suppose I should add, in keeping with the theme of the post, that I don't think either of those sins is in Obama's DNA.

Yep. Lowery set up his headquarters in the Ferguson McDonald's. When the rioting started and LE entered and told everyone to leave but Wesley didn't want to leave his prime spot, police forcibly removed him. Apparently, the concept that inaction also has consequences was new to him. Iirc Lowery's most serious claim was that an officer's actions caused him to bump into the drink machine on his way out.

There is only one flag that represents the United States of America. It is Old Glory. We do not pledge allegience to the Confederate flag. It is an anachorism and if the people of the southern states think it is still some how relevant they are living in a past that has long passed by.
I have no idea what the acceptance of that flag means to people when we, in the 21st centiury, have accepted our destiny as one nation, indivisible, with liiberty and justice for all. Not just those despicable Yankess but also those folks in the south.

Actions don't matter.
If objects offend anyone, they should be banned!
Will Che merchandise be banned?
How bout abortion adverts?....they've killed a lot of people. Maybe the Planned Parenthood logo should be banned.
Can we ban organizations that offend too? I'm offended by the "racist in their DNA" group la Raza.
Ban, Ban, BAN!! Let the banning begin!

Sears has had to deal with third-party peeps selling items with swastikas. Walmart made a reasonable business decision imo. Amazon still sells Confederate symbol items, and it doesn't matter to me if they stop or continue as it's a business decision, not a Constitutional rights decision.

Quick reminder: The flag involved in the controversy is NOT the 'Confederate' flag. It is the battle flag of the Army of Northern Virginia under General Lee.
Also of note - most KKK democrats carried and burned the US flag not the Confederate flag nor the VA Battle flag.

On that SC raisin ruling: if the government had simply levied a special 'raisin tax,' wouldn't that have been perfectly ok? Even if they used the revenues to buy the same amount of raisins that they took? That would suggest to me that any product-specific tax, like the gasoline tax, amounts to a 'taking.'

Hence the Dems have to use propaganda to play 'look squirrel' with millennials, to make conservatives 'too icky' to vote for. Won't work. The millennials who buy in won't vote for anyone, except maybe the Green Party, the ones with at least half a brain will go conservative-libertarian.

Yesterday’s ‘per se’ takings decision. http://www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/14pdf/14-275_c0n2.pdf
From the dissent: “The Order simply requires the Hornes to set aside a portion of their raisins—a requirement with which the Hornes refused to comply. “ if ordering the family farmer to not do anything with their own property is not a per se taking, what is?
The "Raisin Administration Committee" boy the New Dealers were fascists; today's Progs use the same playbook; 75 years ago it was Sulzburger-Ochs families and Jack Warner doing FDR's propaganda, now it's Facebook, Google, Comcast, AP and still the Sulberger-Ochs families doing the Progs propaganda. Same playbook, different technology.

Truly the scary thing about Sotomayor's dissent was her statement that, since the government didn't take it all (she said left the farmer with some of his property rights), then it was not really a taking worthy of compensation.
How anyone with such a thought could be entrusted to protect the Constitution is beyond me.

Jack,
Agree on the division. The sad thing is, when bad times happen, they cannot see the reason, and instead blame evil GOP, whites, Christians.
That is what happened after 9/11. After the shock wore off, they started the "Bush did it" lie. When the economy collapsed, it was the fault of the Republicans. When Obamacare collapses, it will be the fault of the GOP for not supporting it (and of greedy doctors, whom we all know are all Republicans).
It's a sophomoric view of the world which ascribes no blame to members of their party or group, and assigns all blame to those who are outside those spheres. This way they can continue to justify their beliefs and actions.
I fear really bad times are on the horizon for our nation.

I'll go back to DublinDave's comment this morning about on to Mississippi. None of this had anything to do with the flag or Mississippi, but that doesn't preclude them taking off - with the media in tow - to their next mission.
I have a solution for this - as do many here - but when the party that best represents many of our views continues to act as an enabling, battered spouse, we are good and truly f*cked.

Could it be the Heinz ketchup of gender varieties is a leftist "construct" that these misled yutes are "choosing" rather than genetic predetermination?

Cloture vote on the TPA comes up today . . . and this one's going to be close:
Cruz changed his vote to "no" and most of the Dems who voted for it the first time (when TAA was attached) are reportedly resisting, so my best guess remains: likely to fail.Posted by: Cecil Turner | June 23, 2015 at 10:28 AM

How is removing the Confederate-whatever flag from state property, other than museums and military cemeteries, "banning" the flag? As for doing the same in the state with the highest percentage of black citizens? Right on and asap. Denying the black grievance industry low hanging fruit to rally angry mobs imo is the right and wise thing to do.

I didn't even know she HAD a daughter. You never hear anything about her family at all.

On the merits, Cruz claims there's a backdoor deal on ExIm bank (and possibly other sweeteners) . . . and more to come.
If he's right, well, the trade deal is not such an imperative that I'd be willing to give away a bunch of Dem wish list items to get it. (Especially since the Obama crew can be expected to negotiate poorly on the actual trade bills.)
A clean bill without TAA? Good. With TAA? Still net positive. With TAA, ExIm, and visa deal? Probably better off letting the Dems kill it. (Which is politically better, anyway.)
