The Times looks at the government database hacking debacle and includes this gem:
In congressional testimony and in interviews, officials investigating the breach at the personnel office have struggled to explain why the defenses were so poor for so long. Last week, the office’s director, Katherine Archuleta, stumbled through a two-hour congressional hearing. She was unable to say why the agency did not follow through on inspector general reports, dating back to 2010, that found severe security lapses and recommended shutting down systems with security clearance data.
When she failed to explain why much of the information in the system was not encrypted — something that is standard today on iPhones, for example — Representative Stephen F. Lynch, a Massachusetts Democrat who usually supports Mr. Obama’s initiatives, snapped at her. “I wish that you were as strenuous and hardworking at keeping information out of the hands of hackers,” he said, “as you are keeping information out of the hands of Congress and federal employees.”
Maybe the House committee on government oversight should reach out to the Chinese and see if they can give us the Lois Lerner emails.
That general is right--Modern is where the North End residents will be found.

Posted by: Captain Hate | June 21, 2015 at 10:02 PM
That was great hearing Spieth talking to his ball in Tourettes fashion on that last shot, and ordering it to catch the wind and stay on the green. Lot of self-control for that young man with all those cameras and microphones around to not be letting out a string of epithets, which is what I am positive I would be saying to my ball in the exact same situation.
D Johnson ties it at 4 under. This is a very fun finish to watch.

Dustin Johnson may not ever win a major after that meltdown. He really should have taken more time on the birdie putt. Too bad that his putter turned to crap after hitting getting within 10 feet on a 600 yard hole with a driver and 5 iron.
It was great drama and all but the USGA finally went too far with how they tricked out that course. The thought that it will go back to being a public course is like using a low rider with massive air shocks for drivers ed.

Here's a puzzle for our wine experts:
It's from a New Yorker cartoon. A man's wife is giving him input, and saying something like this: "Choose a wine that will make me like the same shows you like."
She's either making a very sensible effort for harmony -- or making an impossible request.
And so far, I have been unable to decide which. Or whether it depends on the couple. And the shows each likes.
So, DrJ (and other wine experts), if you got that request, what would you do?

Hmm, exposing lies consists of a loud mouthed, self promoting idiot like Savage saying Williamson is lying and Trump agreeing with him including the absurd claim he's never declared bankruptcy as though Williamson claimed he had declared it personally. More people than just Willimason have claimed Trump's pop was a slum lord. Whether he was or not I don't know because Savage didn't expose anything. He just did what he always does; call people toe dust and think its not only funny but dispositive.
And the Christian charity Beck extended toward illegal immigrants while demanding the flood be stopped means he's not a conservative.
Got it.
Trump has said he agrees with Kelo "100%". He's used the state and eminent domain against small property owners to acquire their property for his own projects.
He has used numerous government programs to fund and promote his projects.
He gave more money to Dem candidates than Reps including Chucky Schumer and Hillary.
He wants to slap a 20% tariff on imports, apparently excited to go down as this century's Smoot/Hawley and waxes poetic over single payer healthcare.
I guess a can guy can be wrong on just about everything so long as he shoots his mouth off.
If the non loud mouthed Scott Walker had that disastrous resume would Trump supporters ignore tham like they do with Trump?

Five of the photos published by AP included images of guns seen on a wall in the background so that it appeared a pistol was pointed at Sen. Cruz’s head.
“The images were not intended to portray Sen. Cruz in a negative light,” the statement concluded.

Williamson gives a laundry list of very good reasons why Trump would be a terrible President, particularly supporting Kelo which should be an absolute deal killer for any conservative, but as usual can't discuss why he gets attention without being extremely insulting to anybody who supports him in a very typically NR way. It takes the likes of Sarah Palin to understand what the clean toga crowd is continually obtuse about.

Good morning!
I see that the NRO crowd doesn't get it, yet. Williamson almost did but then he ends up insulting people who support Trump, and here is a clue to Williamson: WE NEED THEIR VOTES.
You can say he supported Kelo. Most people don't know what that is. You have to say "Trump supported confiscating people's houses for private business development."
You cannot insult a person and then expect the supporters to follow your candidate. It is human nature to dig in and double down on their support.
Trump is saying stuff people want to hear. The other candidates should pay attention to the mood of the electorate.
Americans want the border secure, a stop to all of these Third World people dumped in their cities (in my case I am particularly worried about Muslims from terrorist areas who aren't properly screened).
The general consensus in the country is that the economy isn't great for the average person. People want jobs and are not wanting them sent overseas.
Trump offers simplistic solutions and they are appealing. He also is willing to go after Obama's actions.
That's his appeal. If our candidates don't get this Trump is going to make them look terrible in the debates.
Also, do we know for sure he's running as a Republican?
Posted by: Miss Marple | June 22, 2015 at 09:29 AM
I think it was Jack NIcklaus who said that no one ever wins the US Open rather it is the other guys lose it. And you saw that last evening with DJ's putting on the 18th. You can bash the course all you want like Horschel and others did but Speith played the same course and wasn't good witih his driver but still prevailed. He putted the same greens everyone else putted and bitched about but he made them when he had to.
Charleston has also prevailed over the hate mongers and race baiters. Compare Charleston to Baltimore, Ferguson, and other blue hells and how the community, white and black, handled a tragedy worse than two young punks meeting their maker. The preacher at Mother Emmanuel said it best, "they don't know us". Sharpton hardest hit.

From my usual wing of the GOP -- Christie has burnt so many bridges with the right that there is no way he can win. Kasich I know nothing about, but his hiring of Weaver is a very bad sign. (How does someone win, if all they can say is that their party is full of losers?)

Barry uses the root word of "niggardly" in interview while talking about how blacks are held down by the chains of slavery 150 years after it ended.
How is it Asians escaping the killings fields of Pol Pot or the gulags of Ho Chi Minh and Mao in the last fifty years manage to succeed?
Maybe because they don't have an entire industry dedicated to manufacturing history crutches to explain why the man is to blame for their destiny not their own efforts?
Letting a jugeared, unqualified, intentionally divisive black guy skate into the White House just because he's black and hasn't shot anyone has done more to reinforce every crutch and woe-is-me excuse that has been holding blacks back since Jim Crow.
When will Dems stop beating their blacks?
