Wow, Turkey, our NATO "ally", seems to have switched sides in the battle with ISIS:
U.S. Jets to Use Turkish Bases in War on ISIS
ISTANBUL — Turkey plunged into the fight against the Islamic State on Thursday, rushing forces into the first direct combat with its militants on the Syrian border and granting permission for American warplanes to use two Turkish air bases for bombarding the group in Syria.
The developments ended a longstanding reluctance by Turkey, a NATO member and an ally of the United States, to play a more aggressive part in halting the Islamic State’s expanding reach in the Middle East. American officials said it carried the potential to strike Islamic State targets with far greater effect because of Turkey’s proximity, which will allow more numerous and frequent bombings and surveillance missions.
Turkey, a vital conduit for the Islamic State’s power base in Syria, had come under increased criticism for its inability — or unwillingness — to halt the flow of foreign fighters and supplies across its 500-mile border.
Up to now, Turkey has placed a priority on dealing with its own restive Kurdish population, which straddles the Syrian border in the southeast, and in the toppling of Syria’s president, Bashar al-Assad, whom the Turks blame for creating the conditions in his war-ravaged country for the rise of Islamic extremism.
Turkey took Obama's old and ongoing "Assad must go" talk seriously. Their bad. But its reassuring that, for now at least, Turkey is more worried about ISIS than the rise of a free Kurdish state in the failed areas of Syria and Iraq.
Come on, people! Comment! Comment! Comment!
We have a job to do!

Well, yeah, it was at least four. In reality, it's probably several thousand. Most every correspondence she'd make as SoS would be sensitive to some degree. Can't do your job otherwise.

Good Morning.
The cute Trish Regan
on FOX Business just told us why Hillary's Plan to raise the Capital Gains Tax won't work:
Regan: Moments ago we heard from Hillary Clinton and her plan to double the rate people pay on Capital Gains. The problem with this plan is that anytime you try to increase taxes on the formation of Capital, you hurt Capital formation. You can think about it kind of like this. If I get a hundred bucks to invest in the Stock Market and I get taxed at 40% instead of 20%, then you know what, I'm going to need a whole lot more money on my investment made in order to be whole. The entire reason we tax Capital at a lesser rate is because we want people like you and me out there to be taking chances to invest in other people's ventures. By lending them money, by buying stock in someone's company, we're taking on risk. So if you tax more, people won't be willing to take on as much risk. It's pretty simple, Econ 101, makes you wonder whether Hillary Clinton took any Economics classes there at Wellsley . Maybe they were Keynesian classes?

General Jack Keane on FOX Business says he finds great credibility in the report that Britain's MI5 says ISIS is planning on using drones to attack and bomb public venues in Britain.
Makes sense to me. I've noticed that Laser attacks against airplanes have been going up by quantum leap factors in the last few days, so it's no surprise whatever that with this new inexpensive drone technology it's going to be put to nefarious purposes quickly. That cool Billion Dollars stolen by ISIS from Mosul banks can sure pay for a lot of experiments with explosive laden drones.

Thanks Ext for the link to Cruz's link calling Mitch McConnell a liar:
I liked this part---
Cruz: "I stood up and I asked the Majority Leader, very directly, "What was the Deal that was just cut on TPA, and was there a deal on the Export/Import Bank?" It was a direct question. I asked the majority Leader in front of all of the Republican Senators. The Majority Leader was visibly angry with me that I would ask such a question. And the Majority leader looked at me and said:
"There is no Deal
There is no Deal
There is no Deal."
Like St Peter he repeated it 3 times.
------------------------------
And that's simply Cruz's starting comments about Mitch McConnell. "F*ck you. War."
Sounds like Cruz has had enough of business as usual in the Senate.

" PPP's newest national poll finds that Donald Trump is likely facing at least some fallout from his comments about John McCain over the weekend. Nevertheless we do find him narrowly leading the national field in our survey, which went into the field on Monday. Trump gets 19% to 17% for Scott Walker, 12% for Jeb Bush, 10% for Ben Carson and Marco Rubio, 8% for Mike Huckabee, 4% each for Ted Cruz, Carly Fiorina, and Rand Paul, 3% each for Chris Christie and John Kasich, 1% for Bobby Jindal, Rick Perry, and Rick Santorum, and less than 1% each for Jim Gilmore, Lindsey Graham, and George Pataki."
Posted by: clarice | July 24, 2015 at 04:26 PM
Remember, this is on the Senate Floor and Ted's speaking about Mitch McConnell.
Cruz: Madam President, it saddens me to say this. I sat in my office, I told my staff, the Majority Leader looked me in the eye, and looked 54 Republicans in the eye, I did not believe he would tell a flat out lie. And I voted based on those assurances that he made to each and every one of us. What we just saw today was an absolute demonstration that not only what he told every republican Senator, but what he told the Press over and over and over again, was a simple lie...
Madam President, if he was telling us the truth when he told us there was no deal why would he do what he just did?...
Well, we now know, that when the Majority Leader looks us in the eyes and makes an explicit commitment, that he is willing to say things that he knows are false. That has consequences for how this body operates.
If you or I cannot trust what the majority leader tells us, that will have consequences on other Legislation as well, on how this institution operates.
There are a host of amendments that the American people are focused on, things like defunding Planned Parenthood, after the gruesome video. The Majority Leader doesn't want to vote on that. That's actually something the American people are focused on...

Rich,
Why should demand for oil grow when the world population of those capable of producing a discernible surplus as a percentage of total population has peaked and begun to drop? I agree completely that the NBR/Census/BLS divisions of minitru will not discern a recession until after inauguration of a Republican President.
The situation in China is compounding the decline in demand with hot money sprinting for anything vaguely resembling an exit. The Central Pimps need to print faster in order to sustain the illusion of a sky filled with Rainbow Unicorns forever.

Top comment at Instapundit on Cruz's speech:
MAllen15
I listened to the entire speech and he tore the GOPe a new one. He mentions the how nothing changed in 2010 and 2014. The leadership lies to the members to their faces constantly and always does what's best for the CoC and never the people that vote for them because of campaign contributions.
Then wraps it all up nicely by noting that the first thing the Repubs did after winning in 2014 was pass the CROmnibus pork, then fund Obamacare, pass TPA/TPP, ram through Loretta Lynch and now they're going to pass Ex-Im because that's what the CoC has ordered up. And then he guts McConnell by simply asking what difference would there be if Harry Reid were still running the show.
Somebody in Cruz's position had to say it. All of it was true. He's just dismantled the carneys in DC. He burned a lot of bridges today and I've got his back from here on out.
I like Walker too but Ted Cruz just got my vote.
