Showman, provacateur, and Presidential pretender Donald trump goes out of bounds while trolling for protest and anti-Washington votes:
AMES, Iowa -- Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump slammed Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), a decorated Vietnam War veteran, on Saturday by saying McCain was not a war hero because he was captured by the North Vietnamese.
"He's not a war hero," Trump said. Sarcastically, Trump quipped, "He's a war hero because he was captured." Then, he added, "I like people that weren't captured."
People howled, as well they might. With attention back where he wants it, Trump then shifted gears:
Donald Trump accused Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) of being "all talk, no action" on veterans issues on Saturday as he sought to clarify his dismissive words toward McCain earlier in the day.
"I am not a fan of John McCain because he has done so little for our Veterans and he should know better than anybody what the Veterans need, especially in regards to the VA," Trump said in a statement released by his campaign.
"He is yet another all talk, no action politician who spends too much time on television and not enough time doing his job and helping the Vets," Trump continued. "He is also allowing our military to decrease substantially in size and strength, somethings which should never be allowed to happen."
Trump said in his statement that McCain has been "extremely disrespectful to the thousands upon thousands of people, many of whom happen to be his constituents, that came out to listen to me speak about illegal immigration by calling them 'crazies.'
"These were not 'crazies' --- these were great American citizens," Trump said.
McCain might want to at least feign respect for the citizens he represents. And quoting
AllahP here, "To think, there are conservatives out there in America today who are convinced their party’s elder statesmen view them with contempt."
The feeling seems to be mutual.

At about the one hour mark you will hear the Luntzer going berserker on war hero gobbledygook. As Trump answers Luntz goes off the deep end.
I wonder how many of the 15,000 crazies that saw Trump in Phoenix were veterans. Maybe a hero or two in the crowd McCain insulted?

I think Trump is currently providing a useful service by giving us the opportunity to gauge the reaction to his antics by the other candidates. So far, Scott Walker is doing great. The only thing I've seen from him re the latest is "John McCain is a hero." That's it, and that's enough. One reason McCain lost was that in the last months he was angry and sputtering, while BOzo was cool and calm. Jeff Greenfield wrote an apt piece about it, noting that Bugs Bunny always beat Yosemite Sam. Trump is allowing us a chance to discover the Yosemite Sams in our group before the primaries.

Sue,
The Cuban Adjustment Act is still in force and gives Cuban refugees permanent resident status beginning one year after their "dry feet" arrival in the US.

McCain's been ranking member and now chairman of the Senate Armed Svcs Committee during all of BOzo's time in office, which has revealed a series of incredible revelations/scandals re the VA. I don't remember McCain bringing any of them to light or using his position to right the wrongs or end the abuse.
