"From 2010 through July 2014, the following sending countries experienced the largest increase in the share of immigrants living in America:

Saudi Arabia (up 93 percent);

Bangladesh (up 37 percent);

Iraq (up 36 percent);

Egypt (up 25 percent);

Pakistan, India, and Ethiopia (all up 24 percent);

Nigeria and Ghana (both up 21 percent)"

I think we got all the ones from Iraq in Columbus.

There is something seriously wrong with a guy who can't stop bawling his eyes out in public constantly.
Blubbers through a Golf Channel interview even?
For a guy I'm pretty frickin emotionally open but he's downright pathological.

Good Morning. Just woke up to the Boehner news, but turning on FOX I see Ed Henry saying more Hillary Benghazi E-mails have been discovered by the State Department, and are being turned over to Trey Gowdy. Sounds like a a lot of stuff is hitting the fan this morning. Catch up should be fun.

Tried to watch Valley of the Dolls last night on TCM only because I had never seen it and Sharon Tate was quite attractive. A few takeaways;
1. I've never been able to stomach Patty Duke but she was a pretty decent actress.
2. Sharon Tate was extremely attractive and couldn't have acted her way out of a wet paper bag.
3. That is one of the truly unwatchable, suffocatingly awful movies of all time.

Jane

Daddy, it looks like State is getting nervous, and perhaps the FBI is on their tail. These emails were subpoenaed years ago, but State said they didn't exist. Meanwhile Hillary said she did her duty.

So suddenly on a busy Friday afternoon, when the Pope, Boehner, and the head of China are taking up all the bandwidth, State suddenly discovers all sorts of emails about Benghazi. Whoops.

I'm sure they will be fully redacted.

The meeting with Trump next week is not about Lowry’s comments alone, but, rather so Trump can air his grievances in private, behind closed doors. But there’s no assurance that Trump’s future ire won’t be aired on his very public Twitter feed. FNC executives have held off-the-record editorial meetings with other candidates, but this is the first with Trump.

http://www.adweek.com/tvnewser/great-balls-of-ire-is-fox-news-really-furious-with-rich-lowry/272840

Who might those candidates be?

My guess is Rubio tops the list. Especially after Magpie's setup question for his prepared answer at the debate.

I wonder if Patrick Kennedy will take the fall. Actually it won't be a fall, he should have been indicted years ago.

Ignatz Ratzkiwatzki

Is it that the GOPe and RINOS don't realize life would be so much easier for them if they opposed the Dems instead of the rest of the GOP or is it that they are philosophically closer to the Dems than the rest of us or is it simply elbow room at trough?

The best way to be nice to the poor is to help them lift themselves out of poverty via opportunity.

Iggy,

Re: your video at 03:32, Which one does Obama invite to the White House?

Captain Hate on the iPad

Speaking of movies from long ago that I'd never seen, as part of curiosity of some Paul Mazursky references in a JPod review of a recent movie by somebody else, I watched a DVD of Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice. First of all, it was a VERY sixties movie complete with horrible fashion senses and haircuts, but the four actors playing the main characters looked great, particularly Natalie Wood. But the soundtrack to it had a certain Love Boat type feel to it, like I was watching a tv show. When the movie reached its final strange scene happened the music was Burt Bacharach's What the World Needs Now and I just started laughing, whether that was appropriate or not. Mrs H was laughing through the movie too.

Ever since then I've been banging John Zorn's collection of various artists playing "Great Jewish Music: Burt Bacharach".

Beasts of England

I'm trying, TC, but am still stumped - even with the hint.

jimmyk

2. Sharon Tate was extremely attractive and couldn't have acted her way out of a wet paper bag.

GUS

Thomas where do you live?

daddy

I've been banging John Zorn's collection of various artists playing "Great Jewish Music: Burt Bacharach".

Since we've mentioned Brian Wilson and now Burt Bacharach, here's an odd bit of Brian Wilson during his crazy years doing Bacharach's "Walk On By." I think it's from 1968.

He really enriches the chords to the tune if you compare it to the Dionne Warwick version, and Brian's voice is still in good timbre, but it's just him and brother Dennis and Dennis doesn't seem to know the words, so it's just this odd piece of music that sounds rich but winds up going absolutely nowhere.

Don't reveal the answer just yet TC, I'm still pondering hard.

Luckily my kids made it through public schools without too much indoctrination. Probably be different today.

The way public schools in Ohio are funded, it is all a function of where you live as to quality.

Inner city schools in any of the big cities are pretty much cesspools.

Certain suburban schools rival the very best private schools in the state. The better suburban public schools certainly turn out a bigger percentage of National Merit Scholars, if that is even a reliable yard stick.

Of course I am a product of hit and miss public schooling as my spelling and grammar attest to.

Wow. It takes one catholic to chase another catholic off the threads. Well done Mr. Speaker.

BTW, wallk gently, he is still Speaker until the end of October. Most powerful position in Congress even more so than McConnel's. He can stop any bill from coming to a vote. Any bill. He can, if he wants, parylyze the country. He could if he wanted to make Obama's life misery on Earth.

The fact that he has failed to do so even a little bit is why I have no tears in my eyes. Plus he is an X grad. They didn't have an engineering or architecture program. Bearcats rule.

Buckeye,

The bluegras joints in Walnut Hill, right?

daddy

I see the quiz got figured out. Cool!

You know how certain songs hit you at a particular time and really bring back a memory when you hear them? Well for me, I remember being probably 11 and living in Arlington, and when I would ride my bike to pick up my WaPo News papers and start wrapping them up so I could deliver them, I recall sitting on the sidewalk under the street lamp at probably 04:45 AM, and when the guy showed up with the papers and tossed them out to me to start wrapping, on his car radio was playing Burt Bacharach's I Say A Little Prayer For You

Don't know why, but when I hear that tune suddenly I'm 11 years old and sitting on the side walk under a street lamp all over again.

What songs do that to you guys?

Off now to climb Diamondhead crater with my partner.
Please get rid of Mitch McConnell while I'm gone. Cheerio.

Thomas Collins

What song was Martha Quinn mentioned in, TK?

GUS

Daddy, for some odd reason the song PLEASE GO ALL THE WAY, by THE RASPBERRIES, made my jump shot go in.

Google Martha Quinn and MoJo Nixon, TC.

It may not count as a song, but young dirtheads like myself sure got a kick out of it.

How the hell did Alabama let Hayden Cook get away to Cincy? Last night coming in as a sub for injured Gunner Kiel in the 1st Q he ended up passing for 557 yards in a losing effort against Memphis.

He is supposedly an Alabama boy.

I have some vague memories of joints in Walnut Hills.

The guys I ran with where into the blues.

I have some vivid memories of going to some joints in "over-the-rhine" that were absolutely places we shouldn't have.

Taking your life in your own hands, if you know what I mean. But when you are 18 or 19 you do stupid stuff.

Jack is Back!

3.2 beer will do that to you, buckeye. Lots of Blues places in over-the-rhine. I once saw a demographic in the Enquier that the O-T-R had more beer joints per sq. mile than any city in America, I believe it.

The other beer thing about Cincy is what they call the "pony" which is basically a pull up platform that has a cool house on it and they just put your order into the car and off you go:)

There are beer cities - Milwaukee, Chicago, St. Louis etc. but none of them are Cincy.

Thomas Collins

Well, daddy, it's not a great song, but Pina Colada brings back memories for me of driving on Route 90 to Cleveland. I love driving, and Cleveland was my first job out of law job out of law school (you may have on occasion noticed CH and I going back and forth about Cleveland). I went from law school graduation to starting work a couple of days later (most people took the summer off to study for the bar before beginning work, but I needed the cash). I remember wondering what the hell I was doing going to a law firm when I had planned in my yute on supporting myself all my life with odd jobs such as telephone book deliverer, amusement park game stand hawker and wildcat landscaper (which is really pushing it, since what I really would do is trim hedges and remove yard waste). I thought I would make some good money in a law firm and go back to odd jobs in my thirties. But a wife and three kids convinced me that a more stable life and job was a good idea. In any event, I remember to listening to Pina Colada (and the Doobie Brothers song What A Fool Believes) and wondering whether I could keep a job in which I had to wear a suit and stay indoors all day.

The metal wires that are embedded in the neck of the guitar perpendicular to the strings are called "frets".

GUS

Hello Jack. Frederick is playing the individual notes to Satisfaction!! Very cool.
5th string. Second thickest string.
2nd fret fourth fret fifth fret. Cool start.
When Frederick learns chords he should learn LOLA by the KINKS!!!!

We let Phillip Rivers get away, too. And Jameis Winston. Selecting talent from high schoolers must be some of the most difficult evaluation on the planet.

I agree that this Boehner thing seems suspicious. Just a month ago we were reading about how certain dissidents were being punished and disciplined. Was that his last gasp or did something change?

Extraneus

Satisfaction? I'd say he needs a younger guitar teacher.

Jack is Back!

Buckeye,

Don't forgett Weidemanns and Burger. Actually, Waite Hoyt made Burger beer the number one beer in the South.

The Red's games were on WCKY, a 500K watt station that reached all the way down to Atlanta and Birmingham et. al., When he would broadcast the games the thrist was unsubstantialable there. It wasn't until the Braves moved to Atlanta that the Reds and Burger beer lost their caché.

Frau Rundfunk und Fernseher

Just as long as Bela Pelosi never, never, ever, ever, EVER gets to wield the gavel again, I wish John Boehner well. I hope his replacement can get a firm hand on the media microphone and be our voice.

henry

Ext, I gotta think the various RNC related cash flow scams were taking a serious hit as dupes grassroots party members ignored their appeals or attacked Boehner instead of obediently handing over credit card numbers. This compounded with Trump, Fiorina, Carson crushing the big money draw (JEB!). Put the powers that be (no not their pissboy Reince) in a "save our phony baloney jobs" situation. Boehner got short straw.

Extraneus

What songs do that to you guys?

Many. I mentioned yesterday that the whole Led Zeppelin II album makes me think of my late rocking mom.

Howie Carr just had Obama voter Col. Dave Hunt on to talk about the Afghan kiddie rape topic. He spent the whole segment trying to deflect blame from the administration he voted for.
