Via a surrogate Glenn, we see that the NY Post editors see room for improvement with Obama's voguing on Syria:
Team Obama’s so-called Syria policy hits a new low
Their denunciation includes this:
And the situation just got infinitely more complicated by Russia’s active military involvement in Syria. As Kerry said, the Russians “are bringing in more equipment to shore up Assad at the same time they say they are going after” ISIS.
That position, he said, has “a lack of logic.”
No: It makes perfect sense when Washington has abdicated leadership. Nature abhors a vacuum — especially on the world stage.
Hmm, I was noting a vacuum in Syria recently, which got me wondering. It was off to Google on ["abhors a vacuum" Obama Syria]. Ouch:
I welcome suggestions for suitable, (yet printable!) metaphors.
SCIENTIFIC MYSTERY: Ignatz, in the comments, disputes the science:
If nature really abhorred a vacuum there'd be a man in Barry's suit.

Perhaps Syria is such a mess because their lovely citizens have forgotten the basics of their lovely faith. Isn't Islam peaceful? Why aren't all the Syrians celebratiing Eid al-Adha?
"Obama said the Islamic holiday “is also a time to give food, shelter and health services to those in need.”...we need to get this bit of wisdom to the Muslims in Syria.

No matter how many red states BOzo seeds with thousands and thousands of newly arrived Muslims, many will move to larger enclaves of people like themselves in blue states like Michigan and Minnesota. Would America be worse off if a Muslim ran for office and replaced Sen. Al Franken or Rep. John Conyers?

Pope Francis "delivers big for Democrats." Terrific. Thanks a lot.
And yes, I know he went to visit the Little Sisters of the Poor and also spoke to the Catholic bishops but the MSM isn't covering that, naturally, and the Pope knows this.
Oh, did I mention the call for gun control, and the scolding about being fearful of foreigners?
He is clearly inserting himself into American domestic electoral policies here, on behalf of Democrats.
He is one of the bad guys. Sorry, but it's true.

Cap'n, the Pope knows that this is the speech that is going to get the most US coverage. If he was going to make a strong statement on anything, this was the speech to do it in. He chose to specifically support the Dem agenda and only make vague mumblings about abortion, SSM etc. That was a deliberate choice and reflects his agenda. Whether or not the MSM would have covered it is a separate issue.

My 10:36 was in reference to the Petraeus testimony.
Posted by: Captain Hate on the iPad | September 24, 2015 at 10:51 AM
For instance, he stood with this fellow,
Cobos, as Vice President and leader of the Argentine Senate, cast the deciding vote rejecting an increase in grain export taxes.[3] This controversial bill had led to economic and social instability in Argentina, with mass protests both for and against the government. Cobos had been expected to back President Fernández de Kirchner. "I think today is the most difficult day of my life", Cobos said. "They tell me I must go along with the government for institutional reasons, but my heart tells me otherwise. May history judge me, my vote is not for, it's against."[3] Cobos has said that the move defused tensions in the country between farmers and the state.
Posted by: narciso | September 24, 2015 at 10:53 AM
The pope clearly sided with Democrats on immigration, and said people should not be "fearful of foreigners," because most everyone was once a foreigner, drawing applause. He said the world is not only facing a refugee crisis in Europe, but an immigration crisis in the Americas, as thousands "travel north" to the U.S. "in search of a better life."
"Is this not what we want for our own children?" he asked. "We must not be taken aback by their numbers, but rather view them as persons, seeing their faces and listening to their stories, trying to respond as best we can to their situation. To respond in a way which is always humane, just and fraternal".
With 6 of 9 SCOTUS being Catholic, I don't buy the no biggie influence of Pope Francis. Ditto Catholic Boehner, 4 out of 5 of his deputies + Pelosi. Ditto Catholic Jeb, Rubio, Christie, and Biden. I think it matters that imo all these people to varying degrees view Pope Francis as God's voice on earth.

Posted by: maryrose | September 24, 2015 at 12:19 PM
maryrose mentioned last night that no one was coming after my wealth. That's simply untrue. Income taxes suppress cash flow, which is used to create wealth. I'm a consultant, but also an investor. When I invest in start-up companies, they often (always?) need addition funding. That often comes out of cash-flow. Those investments create wealth. Lack of cash flow due to high taxes is an impediment to wealth.
As for as current assets, imagine that I have a $300k house in a 'nice' neighborhood. The gubmint is currently 'affirmatively advancing fair housing', i.e., launching the lesser elements into established areas. Well, I'm not going to live exposed to such. So, in an effort to protect my family and investment from further harm, I fire sale it for $200k. They've just destroyed (stolen/taken) $100k of my wealth.
Just two examples...

a. restricting immigration
b. cutting regulations and
c. holding government officials accountable
would be an easy sell. Trump is pounding away on a and c (if one were to color it as competence and incompetence). I didn't need to poll it or field test it and not as well read as people here.
ffs the EPA poisoned an entire river and no one is going to jail and Iggy has linked a few times a story of some ranchers that accidentally burnt 160 acres of BLM land and the government, already after ruining them, is still looking for another bite. That is just one example. Another would be the insider trading scandal at CMS-if some midlevel employee did what those jackasses did they'd be ruined, probably jailed, bankrupted by their defense.

Believe me I spent my life in Catholic education
My brother has worked for Cleveland Catholic charities for 40 years and I support that charity
My sister parish is St Colman's in the City and se do a monthly dinner
I also am a Eucharistic minister and serve the elderly by distributing communion
I am not wealthy like some but I currently give to two parishes
My sisters have both Catholic elementary school for over 30 years
My brother is a custodian at my parish and I have worked with inner city at risk kids
The money I have put aside is for the taxes on my house which has been paid for since 2002 the year my daughter graduated from high school
