Hugh Hewitt tripped up The Donald on a radio interview when he grilled him about some terror leaders. The exchange included this:
“Are you familiar with Gen. Soleimani?” Hewitt asked.
“Yes, but go ahead, give me a little, go ahead, tell me.” Trump said. “The Kurds, by the way, have been horribly mistreated by …”
“No, not the Kurds, the Quds Forces, the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Quds Forces,” Hewitt said.
"Soleimani is to terrorism sort of what Trump is to real estate," Hewitt explained later.
"OK," Trump said.
"Many people would say he’s the most dangerous man in the world, and he runs the Quds Forces, which is their Navy SEALs," Hewitt elaborated.
Most dangerous, or most interesting (Trump excepted, obvi)? You Make The Call:

Brought forward from another thread for the third time...
Trump's point (which I agree with) is that as we drone and as they behead each other, the top players are in constant flux and cutting off the head won't stop the rest of the barbarians. Who needs to know who to 'deal with?' Blanket carpet bombing and some Warthogs will deal with them in the only language they know. You don't 'deal with' or have diplomatic dialog with barbarians. Bottom line, who gives a f@ck what their names are... kill em all and make it unsavory to be them as you will know what awaits you and it ain't 72 virgins.

Jane,
I have been upset about this since ISIS first started taking territory and executing people.
Europe ignored it for a long time, and now they are getting swamped. If Obama hadn't called ISIS the JV and ignored it, maybe we could have prevented this.
What good is it to have a huge army and not do anything? What a colossal waste, and it makes me ashamed of our government.
Posted by: Miss Marple | September 04, 2015 at 08:12 PM
Sulemeini has been around for a very long time and is a clear and present danger to the United States.
If we ever get the chance we need to whack this mole.
We don't have a huge army anymore. Obama is drawing it down very quickly. Am at a reunion this weekend and both active duty units have a complete lockdown on non-essential spending. They had committed, as well. This has nver happened before.

That war in the Balkans was the first one I've ever seen the MFM openly shilling for. Of course there was no strategic value for us, it was protecting the I-Slummers against purported atrocities, all of which were hugely exaggerated, and against Orthodox Christians, and conducted by a sexual predator getting a beej from a zoftig intern while he was strategerizing on how to blow up the Chinese embassy with "smart" munitions while rejecting the use of ground troops in this "humanitarian effort".

I think that Hugh Hewitt is pining away for his hero, Mitt Romney, to enter the race. He's been talking up Romney since 1996. Must have been a great disappointment to see his guy fail in 2012.
As far as knowing every unusual Middle Eastern name, I don't see that as a rigid requirement. The media did that to Bush 43 in 2000 IIFC with Pervez Musharraf. Didn't seem relevant at the time, and when it became relevant Bush was President and knew him well enough.
I sure hope Hewitt doesn't muck up the debate with such questions.

That comment was biased and stupid.
Posted by: GUS | September 05, 2015 at 01:13 AM
Sorry, Gus. The comment is not biased, I assure you. As far as stupid, that's a relative judgement. I gave an example of Bush in the year 2000 being asked about Musharraf to explain the context.
I expect candidates to be knowledgeable about the issues we face at home and abroad; however, I do not expect them to have the kind of in depth knowledge that will be available to them if sh/e should become president. Carly Fiorina answered the same question with about the same depth but more grace.
If you have a different view, we'll just have to disagree.
Posted by: Barbara | September 05, 2015 at 01:25 AM
Yes Barbara. We can both agree that NO ONE was REQUIRING TRUMP to know EVERY UNUSUAL MIDDLE EASTERN NAME!!!! Stand by your statement Barbara. Don't change the subject to G.W or MUSHARRAF.
You are relegated to CLOWN status, when you make statements that are foolish, and when you try to wiggle away from them.

Uh oh, A(B).
Jane,
On the previous thread I related the quiz about the point on earth most distant from land being a point midway between the California Coast and the Big Island of Hawaii. My quiz answer was wrong:(
Now I see that according to various Geo threads, (via WIKI) that the furthest point is down in the South Pacific at a point that has been termed "Point Nemo":
"The oceanic pole of inaccessibility (48°52.6′S 123°23.6′W) is the place in the ocean that is farthest from land. It lies in the South Pacific Ocean, 2,688 km (1,670 mi) from the nearest lands: Ducie Island (part of the Pitcairn Islands) in the north, Motu Nui (part of the Easter Islands) in the northeast, and Maher Island (near the larger Siple Island, off the coast of Marie Byrd Land, Antarctica) in the south. Chatham Island lies farther west, and Southern Chile in the east. This location is also referred to as "Point Nemo", a reference to Jules Verne's Captain Nemo.[15]
West Coast to Hawaii would only be approximately 2,300 miles at the longest, so though it qualifies as What Is The Longest Over-Water Route of Flight With No Alternate, overall Caro would only have to swim at the longest about 1,150 miles, if she ran into trouble at my ETP, whereas if she sprung a leak at Point Nemo in the South Pacific,
she'd have to swim 1,670 miles to get either to Antarctica, to Easter Island, or to some spot near Pitcairn called Ducie island.
I do hope Caro never has to swim that far of course, but if she does, of the 3 equidistant points:
A) Ducie Island in the Pitcairn group:
B) Moto Nui in the Easter Island group:
C) Maher Island, Antarctica:
I'd recommend Moto Nui for the art.

Are Hillary Clinton's dominoes starting to topple in email probe? 9/3/15
The comment by michaelrivero is very good. I quoted here in full, but tipsypad drank it.
Posted by: BR | September 05, 2015 at 05:44 AM
I'll tiptoe around tipsypad and post it anyway.
By commenter Michaelrivera:
"There are two other scandals lurking in the shadows behind the email server itself that need to be fully exposed.
The first is the now confirmed flow of weapons from Libya through the consulate in Benghazi to arm Al Qaeda and ISIS in Syria. This technically constitutes treason, which is defined as giving aid and comfort to the enemy in time of war. Al Qaeda and ISIS are presented to the American people as our enemies in the war on terror. So why is the US Government giving them weapons?
The other scandal is not proven, but there is considerable circumstantial evidence to support it.
Back when Bill Clinton was running for his second term in the White House, he authorized the transfer of highly sensitive technology to China, drawing huge criticism in what later became known as China-gate. At the same time, large amounts of cash poured into his campaign through Chinese American citizens. Later it was revealed that much of that cash had come from Chinese intelligence agencies!
So with a past history of the Clintons treating US secrets as their own private property, to sell to whom they wished, let us now look at the combination of a private email server, outside US Government control and monitoring, with weak security and no encryption, on which are parked highly classified US secrets, ripe for the picking. Coupled with a "charitable" foundation that has seen many foreign governments make "contributions", we have the perfect set up for Hillary Clinton to have run an espionage operation right out of the US State Department!"

I have bolded the part about arms to ISIS. I didn't know it has been confirmed now, although I suspected it.

I think he gives Hilligula too much credit. I doubt she's capable of running anything successfully.

Let's see, if you can run the smear the bimbos brigade, have Vince Foster make trips to Switzerland, etc. (see Evans-Pritchard's "Secret Life..."), you can probably arrange arms to Ts.

ISIS fabricated by U.S., former CIA contractor says
"Former CIA contractor Steven Kelley believes ISIS is a “completely fabricated enemy.”
In a short radio interview with Press TV last year, the whistle blower pointed out that stopping the Islamic State’s funding would be the most efficient and logical way of defeating them. The former CIA contractor said that the agency is frustrated for being asked to train the terrorist group and at the same time to combat it.
Kelley said during the telephone interview that “for people to think this enemy is something to be attacked is a farce” and added that the group is something the CIA “created and controls,” True Activist reported. He explained that ISIS was “designed to create massive amounts of fear and cause a response here at home [the U.S.]” so that “more spending and bloodshed and warfare” is authorized. Although he acknowledged the terror group is real and thousands of extremist Islamists have joined ISIS, he also believes the cold-blooded executions are staged and their purpose is to create panic so that the population begs the government to protect the country."
