Inside the ISIS arsenal

In January the U.S. Central Command announced that U.S. and coalition airstrikes against Islamic State targets in Iraq and Syria destroyed some 184 Humvees, 58 tanks and nearly 700 other vehicles. The number of ISIS military vehicles destroyed may seem significant, but is really just a drop in the bucket compared to the militants' overall firepower.

While specific numbers are difficult to come by, reports suggest that ISIS has a huge fleet of vehicles – including tanks - its possession. Last year, for example, the jihadists captured 2,300 Humvees from Iraqi forces when they captured the city of Mosul, some of which were then converted to armored vehicles.

Unlike traditional nation states ISIS doesn't produce tanks or other weapons in factories, and unlike past insurgent forces that were supported by a nation state ISIS isn't being armed or equipped by a major power either. Yet the group's fleet of vehicles continues to grow. In May ISIS captured U.S.-built equipment, including M1A1 tanks after the group took control of the town of Ramadi, 60 miles west of Baghdad. The militants’ haul reportedly included about 100 wheeled vehicles and dozens of tracked vehicles.

Thanks, Obama!

Well,I had my morning snort of derision while reading the Bangor Daily News. The "trans-gender" who stabbed to death a woman in a Shaw's supermarket has been indicted for murder. The headline says she/he is a "resident" of Saco, not that she/he is a"trans-gender" of Saco.
The other accused criminals in the crime and court section are identified as "a man" or "men".
The media thinks we don't notice the political correctness.

Wait until the FCC applies the same standards to the "last mile" of the intertubes.

“We’ve just been working with people who want particular tissues, like, you know, they want cardiac, or they want eyes, or they want neural,” says Dr. Westhoff to a prospective fetal organ buyer. “Certainly, everything we provide–oh, gonads! Oh my God, gonads. Everything we provide is fresh.”

I posted this at the end of the last thread, but it's worth repeating...

Via Instapundit is this amazing paragraph from one of his links:

Merkel’s open door policy toward the migrants has earned plaudits from around the world but appears to have sown discord at home. The leader of the Bavarian CSU, which is in coalition with Merkel Christian Democratic Union, attacked the Chancellor in an interview on Friday, saying her decision was “a mistake that will keep us busy for a long time.” Privately, officials close to Merkel apparently concede that they did not anticipate that the Chancellor’s remarks would have such resonance and would encourage more migrants to try to get to Germany.

(emphasis mine)

In case there was any question why so many people are ready to support an outsider blowhard who has no policy ideas and no real idea of how government works, your answer is right there.

Highly educated, elite, experienced, expert leader of the most powerful nation in Europe, and her team of elite, highly-educated, super-intelligent, handpicked advisors...

...couldn't figure out that opening the welcome mat to hundreds of thousands of migrants/refugees/invaders would only encourage more?

A five-year-old could have told them that it would! MY CAT could have told them it would!

Maybe the reason so many people are willing to listen to Trump is that it's now clear beyond any doubt that the experts, the professionals, the super-educated, policy-wonk, ultra-elites...are a bunch of utter f**king morons who don't have the common sense God gave to the average squirrel.

More re: Eli's costing the Giants the game...

I can understand getting confused on how many time outs Dallas had - the announcers weren't clear, either. But that shouldn't have mattered.

Whether Dallas had 0 time outs or all 3, going from a 3 point lead to a 10 point lead with 1:50 to go is ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS something you would want to do. There is no question there. There is no decision there. There is no debate there. There is no doubt there.

How someone who's played football his entire life, who's won two Super Bowls, could get that wrong...it almost does make me wonder if the game was fixed, because it's just so far beyond believable that ANYONE could have been that stupid.

Everything we provide is fresh.”

a reminder - "In the second video, we find out explicitly from Planned Parenthood’s Dr. Mary Gatter that abortions performed with feticides aren’t viable for fetal-tissue donation. If digoxin is used, it renders the fetal stem cells unusable. (See the footage and the transcript.) Knowing this, Nucatola’s graphic explanation of how to “crush” unborn babies to maximize organ retrieval requires a clarifier. These babies are being strategically maneuvered, crushed, and dismembered under ultrasound guidance—while still alive."

How do you convert a HMMWV into an "armored vehicle"? Start by changing the definition.

ISIS is no doubt profiting from captured weapons, but that article is terrible. Dunno if it's the "experts" or the way it's kluged together, but I'd recommend a shaker of salt with that one (particularly the stuff credited to Robert Farley).

Ha,TK. I self censored that scene by closing my eyes!

Jack is Back!

My prediction a few weeks back that Merkel will go down for her welcome mat politics still stands. Hungary has sealed its border with Serbia. Austria has controls on it's border with Hungary. Germany the same on it's Austrian border. The Poles and other Slavs are saying no-way Abdul!

The lifeline from Greece to Macedonia to Serbia is basically sealed. Imagine thousands of Muzzies in Serbia? They may want to ask the Bosnians and Kosovoians about Serbia's policy toward the Mohametans.

Forget the 11th century invasions this is starting to look like the start of WWI.

from the Bullshit From Bernie post -

"And that vision is so beautifully and clearly stated in Matthew 7:12, and it states, “So in everything, do to others what you would have them to do to you, for this sums up the war and the prophets.” ~ Bernie

Matthew 7:12 (NASB)- 12 “In everything, therefore, treat people the same way you want them to treat you, for this is the Law and the Prophets."

(KJV) - 12 Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.

Another thing that kills me about all the people cheering Bernie Sanders & his socialist dream is...why don't those people give away their money & property & belongings RIGHT NOW.
Nobody is stopping them. Start redistributing YOUR stuff. DO IT.

Only JEB could make Kasich look good.

WSJ opinion piece by McGurn today coaches the emasculated JEB on how to get his balls back from Trump. All the points he can make about Zero's screwups. How to communicate that he is about creating jobs and increasing the size of people's pay checks.

Once the invaders are inside a country, in Europe or here, how do authorities know where to send them back to, unless there's proof of residence elsewhere? And doesn't the "elsewhere" country have to agree to accept returnees? The "impracticality" aspect of expulsion of mass invaders seems to be where Carson differs with Trump, unlike Jeb, Kasich, and Rubio who consider acceptance of arriving aliens to be a moral obligation.

Rick Ballard

You have to tie the equipment inventory to the intelligence "discovery" to discern the propaganda effort to promote IS from JV to varsity. Mahometan maintenance should already have taken care of a reasonable number of vehicles - the Russian Air Force must feel a little urgency if they want to get in a good round of target practice. They appear to have a decent defensive perimeter established at Latakia, now all they need is sufficient fuel and bombs.

Now we are worried about proper identification of an invader?

Ignatz Ratzkiwatzki

--Unlike traditional nation states ISIS doesn't produce tanks or other weapons in factories...--

Other than Israel name a ME state that has produced its own tanks.

Worldwide you could probably count the countries that have on two hands. (Eli is excused from the quiz.)

Janet S.

And doesn't the "elsewhere" country have to agree to accept returnees?

I believe any country that won't accept returnees is supposed to be cut off from all foreign aid. A State Dept. function.
Obviously it doesn't happen.

Roses bud, and burst.

It struck me that one of the reasons that Trump can go after the press is that he's bulletproof; his scandals are public knowledge and his name is widespread. He's coalescing the inchoate anxiety of the low information voter, who knows things are bad, but has no idea why.

He'd have to be found in bed with a dead boy or a live model yacht.

But how do we know what country that is if the arrivee won't say? I'm sure BOzo won't allow federal linguists to figure out the country of origin for use as a removal tool.

That is right, Janet. The State dept has the power to cut all visas off as well.

If a nation does not take its people back, we don't let anyone come in from that nation.

another point about that Bernie speech.

"I believe from the bottom of my heart that it is vitally important for those of us who hold different views to be able to engage in a civil discourse." - Bernie

He speaks at Liberty University...but how are conservatives treated at secular universities & forums?
Dis-invited speakers...or never being invited at all, and protesters disrupting the speech.

It's rich to hear a lib. talk about "civil discourse" when we are constantly called racists, homophobes, teabaggers, ....that the POTUS thinks we view some humans as "less worthy in the eyes of God", ....

An enterprising reporter would look up the manufacturer of those life jackets and rubber rafts and find out who had placed an extra large order.

I am pretty sure those things aren't manufactured in the desert kingdoms, so a large order would have to have been placed in the West, China, or Japan.

I think I will contact that Daily Mail guy who seems to actually do reporting.

Cecil Turner

You have to tie the equipment inventory to the intelligence "discovery" to discern the propaganda effort to promote IS from JV to varsity.

I'd suspect something along those lines, but was surprised to see it in a Fox news story. And it seems they've gone to borderline lefty military analysts (some at least--i.e., Farley--with poli sci credentials), possibly because they couldn't get enough empty speculation from reputable sources.

Sanders is an aging white male hippie. There is nothing to fear from that commie gasbag.

We do not marginalize hippies. Hippies are made from people who were born to be marginal. Play the Five Man Electrical Band's Signs in a loop, and by the end of the third iteration, you will be ready to head down to the campus quad to kick some hippie ass.

Trump filled the arena. The local news was all over the traffic jams caused by event. Heavy construction in and around the arena creates a nightmare on a good day. With reserve tickets and a usually later start time. Trump's event was general admission, started at 6:30 PM and caused a freaking nightmare for rush hour traffic, in an area that is already rush hour traffic hell. DFW knew Trump was here. Did Sanders really make that deodorant comment? Folds nicely with the post I made earlier this morning re: capitalism: he doesn't have to worry about how many brands are available - if there are too many, it'll self-correct very soon.

Speaking of migrants,I've mentioned how much northern New England has changed in fifty years. Vermont suffered the most from the invasion of hippies in the 1970s. I remember a family camping trip to Vermont in the mid 1960s,when we visited the Calvin Coolidge homestead. If you remember your history,Cal was sworn in by his father on Aug.2,1923 while on vacation at the farm. It took another 50 years for hippies to take over the state. Fewer hippies came to Maine,if they did, they were acolytes of Scott Nearing. NH changed most drastically in the 1980s and 1990s,due to the invasion from the south. Massachusetts. :)
