Ace recaps the Ahmed "cool clock" story and the hoax angle, but the best line came from Judge Napolitano on Fox News:
“It now appears as though this was a purposeful hoax," Napolitano told Fox News' Megyn Kelly Monday.
...
"If this was part of a purposeful stunt and if the parents were involved in this and if everybody from Mark Zuckerberg to President Obama fell for this, this is not good," Napolitano said.
Well, it's not good for me personally because I am sure to hurt myself laughing. Although I am also at risk of dying of shock if the Protective Media ever reported this. We walk a fine line.
WHO'S LAUGHING (OR HAVING A HEART ATTACK) NOW? The Dallas Morning News at least listens to some of the noise, although they were too early for the revelation that the older sister had apparently been suspended from middle school in the same district three years ago for making a bomb threat. So let me set up my bonus conspiracy theory: the clock (seemingly a re-assembled alarm clock) went off in Ahmed's English class attracting the teacher's attention and starting this imbroglio.
Well. Class schedules are predictable and alarm clocks normally go off when they are supposed to. So, is there any chance this English teacher was involved in the suspension of the aggrieved big sister? Privacy laws prevent the school or the police from releasing the relevant reports, but that shouldn't stop Stephen Colbert from asking about it. No, of course he won't, but Daniel Payne of The Federalist has suggested some questions for any intrepid reporters out there.
I agree with Clarice. We damn Putin but he is the guy we want to counter the stupidity of Obama. Guess what? He and Trump will be best buds jsst because they see the same threat the same way unlike Bozo.
BTW, is Fox endangering their fandom by bringing in that no nothing Megan McCain? I had to turn it off today. In fact, I haven't watched it all week. In the mornings here I turn on Len Berman and Todd Schitt on WOR radio. We need more humor and opinion like theres and less of that putualnt little spoiled brat without any compelling narrative or idea.

I remember Putin adn the crucifix. It's probably why I haven't been so anti-Putin as some.
My comment was more on the line of how strange history can turn with things that couldn't have been predicted.
I still think we should have made Russia anally back in 2001-2002. Perhaps our financial interests in China kept us from doing that, but how's that working out for us now?
Posted by: Miss Marple 2 | September 24, 2015 at 09:11 PM
I think many Russians consider themselves Europeans, not Asians, and part of that national identity is a Christian heritage, narciso.

The US no longer has an actual need for MENA energy. The cost of protecting Mahometans from themselves has become prohibitive. I would be totally unsurprised to see Gazprom chosen as a development and marketing partner for both the Israeli and Egyptian gas fields. The weak jackass is just too unreliable. Perhaps Putin should start using Ras as an appropriate nickname?

I'm with narc on Volodya.
Cotton voted against the bill because it didn't restore funding to the military. The ewok has a post based on a report discussed by Ken Cuccinelli on Levin last night about how McTurtle rode to the rescue of PP in the past over the wishes of Poppy Bush and contrary to the Reagan rule. I don't think I've ever been more wrong about a pol.

Zerohedge claims lumber most highly correlated commodity to economic activity, or lack thereof.
If so, the economy is going to end up in the sticks.

CH,
I knew the deadSkins couldn't perform away from Landover. So, I watched my alma mater's QB get cold cocked by a Memphis gangsta in a targetting episode. Got carted off the field in a stretcher. But for some reason they are currently up on Memphis but it is an offensive display by both teams.
30-28 Bearcats with 1:08 to go in 1st half.

That earlier insight I borrowed from taheri, Re volodya's ambitions in the Levant. Bibi knows he's a fairweather with pasdaran tie, but who else they got?

Regarding the economy, I have noticed prices for my stuff are dropping on eBay. It has made me cautious at the auction. Besides, I have stuff in the house I can sell since I am probably going to have to move, anyway.
All of these people who think the economy is just swell because of what they were told on the TV are going to be in for a big surprise pretty soon.

Geoff Moore, John Schlitt, Scott Wesley Brown, Chris Eaton

Clarice,
The Eurasian Co-Prosperity Sphere has absolutely nothing impeding its Council of Thugs from picking up more real estate and extorting concessions from bystanders. I won't be shocked to see Chinese troops in Syria any more than I would be shocked to see the AIIB extending loans to Israel and Egypt to cover initial development costs of the Gazprom managed fields. A Russian/Egyptian pacification and maintenance agreement for Libya is not unimaginable either.
After all, there is noting to fear from EUnuchs and a weak jackass.

Janet, you can't give up. You're not nearly as old and bitter as I am. And you have an actual victory on record!
Although if anybody can cause profound disenchantment it would be McAwful winning that race after the GOPe shortsheeted Cooch. I take it back; you have every right to be bitter. But not old.
Posted by: Captain Hate on the iPad | September 24, 2015 at 09:39 PM
Bitterness is hard to avoid, trust me, as I have a LOT to be bitter about.
But the fact is that it poisons your soul and robs you of the joy we should have in everyday life.
What I have decided is that we are in a giant lesson movie, like the old ABC After School Specials.
What I have learned:
Do not trust anyone else with your money.
Things are really not important.
Family is the most important resource you have.
God never lets you down.

Sundance is a conspiracy flake, clarice. Not saying that he doesn't have a few reasonable points, but the way he tries to tie it all together is disturbing. He often starts from his preferred conclusion and works back from there to 'curve-fit' his data. He also lacks the discipline to assess other plausible explanations for his assumptions. His sycophants really eat that carp up with a spoon.

Can we perhaps be more, um Christian, to each other. It is difficult enough watching the marxists tear apart all that is right and good and build their brave new world.
Reading an interesting book titled "God is Back" by Micklethwaite & Wooldridge.
They point out the European/Argentine way of life is top down driven, while what made America exceptional is that it is the other way around.
There has always been a much greater competition of ideas in this country, which contributes to its exceptionalism. Whether it was the Methodists overtaking the Calvinists and Episcopalians or then the Baptists with their flat organizational chart, there is a directness and a certain directness of purpose that is far different from the European oligarchic bullshit. Argentina is the same way. Caudillos and Colonels.
Whether it is a dictator or a king or even a Pope, Europeans like to be told what to do. The English are something of an exception but the toxicity of the class system is still evident.

Glass of wine in hand, I'm pleased to see that things have cooled down here.
Sadly, MrsJ lost a friend today. She lived two doors up from us until three weeks ago, when she was moved into a hospice. She passed this morning some months before her 100th birthday. She was born and raised in Louisiana, was full of piss and vinegar, and has lived here in CA for a long time. She was a devout Southern Baptist, and the long-time head of the local Rose Society.
MrsJ has looked in on her for the last couple of years, and enjoyed her company a great deal. While it was time for her to leave, she will be missed.

I'm sorry to hear that, DrJ. Our 103 year old neighbor died this past June. He lived to the back of us across two fences, but just a short distance away because the lots are small. I didn't know him and didn't even know how old he was until just a few months before he went into hospice. He sounded like a wonderful man, and I loved watching him puttering around his kitchen in the early mornings. I wish I'd introduced myself, but I was shy.

Love your post-its, Janet! They would explode heads here in Ann Richards Land. That old drunk, as my dad muttered once when we saw her in a local restaurant.

Condolences to MrsJ, DrJ, and belated congrats on your grant. I've been darting in and out of JOM the last week or two, so it's hard to keep up, especially with the blizzard of threads the last couple of days.
On aged neighbors and acquaintances, we spent time Labor Day weekend with my father (age 93) and his 102-year-old "girlfriend." As my father is in a bit of a fog and no longer quite the great conversationalist he was, it was great having this lady around, as she is sharp as a tack, as well as being a fine human being.

Thank you for pointing that out, jimmyk; that is a primer on how things went so horribly wrong and the stubbornness of Top Men to own up to just how badly they screwed the pooch, including Rupert's Gazette who had me soooo convinced that TARP was the way to go. I am so glad I jettisoned that rag.
Btw, wasn't there a poster here with a 3 letter nic who adamantly claimed exactly those points and everybody thought he was a nut? Iirc he was also a long suffering Redskins fan.
