And the Clinton foundation was founded in part from an offshore tax havens.

Beester

Squaredance--the elites in the uniparty don't care what happens to the country. They believe, and are likely right, that they are protected. The uniparty is the new feudal aristocracy. The serfs benefit from noblesse oblige and the tradesmen are despised.

buccaneer morgan

Library, massage parlor whatever.

Jack is Back!

Dow up 321. Thanks Hillary or Trey?

BeenThereDoneThat

Yay! Stock Market's up - all is well, Hillary won! Not surprising, since the Democrats own the economy, the press, the government and the corporations.

clarice

My campaign video would be short--it would be Hillary before the caskets blaming the video;Hillary telling the mother of one of the deceased that the video maker would be arrested and her testimony today that she never blamed it on the video--Just a couple of minutes..Message at end--are you ready for a president who lies over the bodies of dead American patriots?

Shemp suggests the hearing that Fox pre-empted every other show for is hardly worth it. He says he has been watching ESPN.

Some bald asshole states that most Americans don't even understand what is going on and probably won't change their support for their preferred party.

Uh huh.

Old Lurker

Good plan Clarice but the ad would have to show the picture of the email she sent to her own daughter that very night telling her that AQ has killed tow of our officers...

Here it is from Drudge:

http://dailycaller.com/2015/10/22/hillary-told-daughter-chelsea-that-terrorists-were-behind-benghazi-attack-the-night-it-happened-video/

Algonquin

Hell you can tell Shep Smith doesn't give a damn about the deaths of Stevens, Smith, Doherty and Woods.

And the reporter from The Washington Times--isn't hearing anything new--possibly because he isn't doing his job.

Instead he's gadfly-ing about.

The Pompeo first line of questioning was new to me...but some how this reporter at The Washington Times has heard before?

It's possible he's heard it before--but America has not --because he chose to NOT report it.

I know milennials that smell a rat when it comes to Hillary's nesting doll system of emails, that something they even know instinctively as shady.

Cecil Turner

See this is just what I am talking about. If the situation was reversed, the Dems would get something out of it. People on the Right who follow this are furious about this.

If we can only get forty more Republicans to vote against it, we can get a better deal, right? Right?

Captain Hate on the iPad

Shemp gets away with badmouthing Rove News Channel programming? Strange amount of job security imo.

buccaneer morgan

Gutfriend, he's red queen's trained Schneider.

Algonquin

Notice the technique of the Liberal press--first they don't report it, or they decide it isn't important for you because Obama must be reelected, then after Hillary stalls and drags things out--

Journolist--a la Ezra Klein declares--

It's all OLD!

Sorry but even the young voters know something sleazy is going on with Hillary and her Labryrinthian Maze of Email .

clarice

True, she did that--but I believe in keeping it absolutely SIMPLE.

Algonquin

It's no surprise that Shep Smith does not get the honor code of-

Leave no man behind.

It bores him, the Mets are on!

(You would think FOX would at least not insult those that are watching and would not want their own anchor declaring his disinterest--and suggesting competitive programming!---)

Sue

The Mets won last night. What is he watching? A rerun?

Algonquin

Sue

Seriously!?

I swear to Gaia --I heard him say something like --the Mets are on!

I did switch to Jake Tapper at CNN for something more fair and balanced.

Holy crap.

Cecil Turner

On the security situation (i.e., the "broader failures of policy" cited by Rhodes):
The main failure was leaving Iraq, which destabilized the whole region and gave away our only foothold.

The secondary failure was the gratuitous "kinetic military action" against Libya, which furthered no national security interest, and punished a foreign leader for complying with US anti-proliferation demands.

The tertiary failure was not enough security in Libya and not bothering to have a military standby, due apparently to wishful thinking.

On the email:
Clinton was the classifying authority and has absolute responsibility for the material on her server.

She knew she couldn't run State without discussing classified information, and thus had someone "scrub" markings and specifics. It's surely illegal and DoJ might even get around to admitting it.

She didn't care, because she rates control of politically sensitive information above national security.

On the post-attack misinformation:
The broader policy failures would've torpedoed Obama's reelection campaign. 'Nuff said.

Most of the stuff above was primarily Obama's responsibility, except for the emails. I think her main problem remains the private server and the obvious security issues. And I agree with Algonquin above that millenials are less likely to give her a pass on that point.

Algonquin

The DOW up, maybe thank China for not moving on the Phillipines, yet.

Algonquin

I'd like to drop Shep off in Syria and leave him pleading with the State Department for protection.

Algonquin

Cecil

Yep, for whatever reason the younger voters I talk to--Hillary's email maze gets their attention, and it makes them uncomfortable with her.

It could explain some of the Sanders phenomenon.

BeenThereDoneThat

Obama just vetoed Defense Bill:

WASHINGTON, DC – House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) issued the following statement in response to President Obama’s veto of the conference report to H.R. 1735, the National Defense Authorization Act:

“By placing domestic politics ahead of our troops, President Obama has put America’s national security at risk. This indefensible veto blocks pay and vital tools for our troops while Iranian terrorists prepare to gain billions under the president’s nuclear deal. Congress should not allow this veto to stand.”

Sue

I heard him too. Maybe they had a celebration on? They won the series last night. Swept the Cubs.

DebinNC

WaPo on 9-1-12: "Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton will be about as far away as her State Department plane could take her when the [Dem] convention opens in Charlotte. She left Washington on Thursday for an island hopping trip across the South Pacific and Southeast Asia, with visits to the Cook Islands, Timor-Leste and Brunei, on the island of Borneo. With additional stops in Indonesia, China and Russia, Clinton will be out of the country until several days after the convention ceremonies are over [the evening of Sept. 6]."

BOzo left the convention and immediately began a whirl of campaign stops that lasted through the weekend, which iirc he spent going all over FL, before finally returning to DC. Libya wasn't on either's radar.

buccaneer morgan

Well they know emails, the cubs swept so all things are possible.

buccaneer morgan

It had the never get out of gitmo provision.

The medici's statement re Mrs. Benoist was not as tpaw re lady have but close.

Algonquin

Sue

Phew!

CNN is now asking why Stevens was in Benghazi.

IIRC that day Stevens had a meeting on that September 11th with an official of the Libyan nationalized oil company.

Benghazi is a huge oil distribution hub.

(The source for that IIRC was British.)

Some also report, but I not know for sure that Stevens met with a Turkish diplomat that day.

The best reporting immediately was from Nic Robertson-- but weirdly it was at CNN's international website.

buccaneer morgan

One recalls trandreas@captain hate, snarky appearance re the huntress's bookstore in Virginia.

Sue

KT McFarland is sure they were gun running, ala Iran/Contra. She thinks if the committee members would ask the right question that would be the smoking gun.

narciso

I did a whole series at my blog narcisos corner starting in September 2012, which covered all those points and more.

narciso

That's the most reasonable explanation, however neither Doherty and co, nor zeist and parento were involved in that.

jimmy's comment at 2:10 is right on point. Ryan is not a Leftist so much as someone who buys into Dirigisme as long as the providers are private entities.

I went back and looked at his first job at Empower America and recognized that Reinventing Government rhetoric. Then I doublechecked with someone who was going to meetings of theirs in the 90s who said absolutely, the first time she met the Seattle Pacific/Building Civilization Leadership crowd was at an EA meeting in the mid-90s.

We do not think of the term Conservative as someone who wants governments to be in charge with private and nonprofits as the providers but for many when they hype "free enterprise, Limited government, and market-based" that is just what they mean.

I am sure Ryan is a nice man and a good policy wonk but even his letter stated he had policy he wanted to pursue. Because we are all craving more government. Block grants are not limited government and they are not really traditional federalism either if we read the small print.

In federal legislation the small print is usually the language 3/4's of the way through after any sane person is asleep.

DebinNC

From the official House GOP site today after clicking on the "About" section: One picture that encapulates Boehner's subpar tenure. First, it's a bad pic, being too dark and too crowded. Second, is that a smiling Eric Cantor in the front-right? Third, why are the women relegated to the outskirts? Fourth, who is that enormous white guy prominently filling the primo center spot? I see Kevin McCarthy's out front, but where is Mia Love, Trey Gowdy, and Paul Ryan? Is this a pic of the Boehner fan club?

henry

Fourth, Boehner's food taster? ( not that anyone in DC would harm a hair on his orange head).

Excellent takedown of Hillary's defense today.

Old Lurker

Sue "She thinks if the committee members would ask the right question (re gun running) that would be the smoking gun."

Probably they are not asking on purpose. Boehner and Mike Rogers were probably in the loop.

Ok, construction site across street from Boeing. 2nd major accident in a year. I gotta wonder if ant servers were harmed.

narciso

Well the free house had that surmise.

clarice

Stephanie, that is a great article.

Old Lurker

Good one Clarice.

Old Lurker

"construction site across street from Boeing"

You really do need to look at those "concrete curing charts" that JiB memorized when he was a lad before you remove the supports on the lower floors. If that's what is was.

Jack is Back!

Sue,

I think Congress via the various hearings especially intelligence oversight have already uncovered the gun running. Why they don't issue a report I can't figure. Those MANPADS ended up somewhere and not here or in Turkey.

I totally agree with Clarice. Just juxtopose her testimony today with the Andrews casket ceremony. I would keep it simple but have a cameo of Mrs. Smith and her comments on Hillary being a liar.

Sue

Jack,

I haven't heard that. I don't think McFarland had either.

Jack is Back!

Sue,

Hell, a number of us were discussing the gunrunning here right after the attack. I am surprised that McFarland and others are being so iffy about it. You don't have many other options for why there was a CIA contractor annex in Benghazi.

Miss Marple

CNN is continuing with the hearing. Jordan going after the video lie again.

Sue

Jack,

I know we speculated. I didn't know committees had actually uncovered it.

Miss Marple

Jordan is doing well, and she is floundering .

Algonquin

The reason the current ARB cannot be fully talked about at this public hearing.

Trey Gowdy letter to Elijah Cummings, Oct. 7th

."Ms. Mills and her appearance provide a perfect illustration as to why we do not release transcripts. Serious allegations have been made against several State Department employees in connection with PRODUCTION of documents related to the Accountability Review Board. These allegations are serious enough to investigate and serious enough not to repeat until such time as they are investigated."

The Infamous Ignatz

The only thing these hearings are ever good for is if they have an absolute, slam dunk smoking gun already in their possession before it starts or some dramatic "have you no sense of decency" moment.

Otherwise they change almost nothing one way or t'other.

Extraneus

Concession: Ryan promises Freedom Caucus he’ll delay discussion of reforming procedure for removing the Speaker

Then he's in. Hopefully he'll surprise us.

Beasts of England

Tiffany says 'Hey y'all!' Except she says it more like 'Hey yaaaaaaaa'll'. And that's a good thing. :)

Algonquin

The bolding and all caps of the word --production, added .

henry

Ext, nothing will change.

Algonquin

Also Thomas Pickering is ...still alive.

But I do remember feeling compelled to verify that when I first heard he was appointed to the ARB for Benghazi.

The Infamous Ignatz

henry,
If Ryan can just refrain from bawling every time a sentimental oatmeal commercial with a kid and his dad comes on or some dog that looks kinda like Ol Yeller is on a dogfood can it will be a significant change for the better right out the gate.

Extraneus

From the Greenfield link:

Having dragged Obama into Hillary’s war, Blumenthal was now pushing Hillary to blackmail him with the threat of losing the election if he didn’t escalate the conflict. Meanwhile he was pursuing his interest in getting the Libyans to pay for military training from a private military company he was linked to.

The entire nightmarish mess of Democratic conspiracy theories about Iraq, Blood for Oil, politicians fighting wars to win elections, corporate conflicts of interest and even private military companies are all here and no one will touch it. A roster of Democratic candidates still running against the Iraq War won’t talk about an illegal dirty regime change war that took place with their backing and support.

Bernie Sanders, who sputters incoherently about the Iraq War, co-sponsored the Senate resolution supporting a No Fly Zone in Libya. This was the Senate resolution that Obama exploited as a fig leaf of Senate approval for his illegal war.

Senator Sanders can’t criticize Hillary’s illegal war because he helped make it happen.

Hillary’s war has been an unmitigated disaster. Her lies about the war have been disproven. But not even the Democrats running against her are ready to hold her accountable for it.

henry

Lol Ig. He's more likely to share picks of the deer he just slayed. But in terms of Obama getting the usual pass, that won't change.

Extraneus

I agree, Ig. He'll probably be a step up from Boehner, except on weekends and family time.

Miss Marple

I think you guys forget about Obama at that meeting where Ryan confront Ed him with the numbers and Obama got really mad.

Ryan being the Speaker Obama will take as a personal affront.

Stephanie

Can someone please rename the BDS movement as every time I see that moniker I think Bush Derangement Syndrome not Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions...

Gah!

The Infamous Ignatz

Since all I've been doing is criticizing, congrats to Ryan and the FC for compromising and congrats to Boehner for passing a defense bill the creep disliked enough to veto.
Doubt they can override though.

henry

Same idiots recycling signs Stephanie.

Algonquin

The Trey Gowdy letter to Cummings continues...

"Cheryl Mills and the Accountability Review Board

This brings me to the substance of the highly selective disclosures and allegations in your letter. The letter conveniently ignores--likely because it was not politically advantageous for you to include--the fact that Cheryl Mills testified she did in fact suggest changes to the Accountability Review Board report before it was made public. This again is problematic and once again calls into question the independence of the ARB,.."

Laura

What ever happened to that Paul Ryan, who straight up pwnd Obama over the lies that were Obamacare? He seems to have gone missing. Eventually the devil makes a deal even the best politicians can't refuse and they sell their souls.

Miss Marple

Laura,

I don't know.

I go back to my theory of demonic forces.

narciso

The arb is a travismochasham, besides the fact no relevant testimony was taken, you have fair and niac afficionado pickering, stiffed popinjay admiral mullen, and I'm sure there's another hack I've forgotten.

Algonquin

Gowdy letter to Cummings continues.

" ...Mill's review of the ARB prior to it being made public becomes even more concerning when recognizing that she handpicked members of the ARB, contrary to State Department regulations designed to ensure that the ARB remains an independent process."

GMax

Ryan is going to be Speaker. Frankly, its likely in my opinion he will be better than Boehner and better than Hastert. I am certain there will be times that I will disagree with him on both policy and tactics and strategy.

GMax

Continuing on with my thoughts. He will definitely be better than Eric Cantor, and is way brighter than Kevin McCarthy.

Stephanie

It's DoD's fault!

She's suddenly drinking an inordinate amount of water late in the day. Diabetes?

Captain Hate on the iPad

I used to have high hopes for Paulie before association with R$ stained him worse than Palin with My Friensh and turned him into Eddie Munster. He can get it back, I guess, but trust lost is hard to regain.

jimmyk, are you staying close to home for Thanksgiving? If so, I'll be in Brooklyn from Tuesday until Saturday.

Extraneus

becomes even more concerning

Is that correct English? Not to be pedantic, but I thought the word was "disconcerting" until recently. Is "concerning" really a word?

Miss Marple

Stephanie,

I attribute it to her constant droning testimony, nerves, and stalling.

Jane

Judge Napolitano made an interesting point. Hillary is doing well in front of 2 of her 3 audiences. The problem is #3, which is the FBI.

Algonquin

narciso

So essentially Mullen's --who was suppose to be a neutral judge of the facts as a member of the ARB---

called Mills behind the scenes to tell her that they should keep Charlene Lamb from testifying...

If that is how I read the rest of it.

Extraneus

Napolitano is dreaming.

henry

Diabetes? Lack of Corona

Algonquin

Popinjay, heh.

narciso

Yes, and that was revealed two years ago.

Algonquin

Extraneus

That could be on me, I'm typing it out on my IPhone...

Let me double check that.

Miss Marple

The FBI will be paying attention. Whether it gets moved out of the FBI to another level I doubt.

I am grateful for this hearing, though, because at least it proves we aren't crazy.

Algonquin

"...becomes even more concerning.."

Yep, that's how they have it.

Captain Hate on the iPad

You can't spell diabetes without DTs.

Algonquin

narciso

Correct, but if you read Gowdy's letter they are using Mullen's testimony to bolster the new testimony from Mill's which shows that the ARB was not independent.

Also that there are serious allegations about people at the State Department concerning the production of documents presented to the ARB.

Whatever that might mean.

Stephanie

Who is the nodding bastard behind her right shoulder?

Jane

I dunno, I've become convinced that the FBI is independent from the administration. Do you guys disagree?

Captain Hate on the iPad

Did Clenis accompany brave Sir Edmund Hillary Diane Rodham or was this an opportunity to spend more than four hours with The Energizer?

Algonquin

There's something effective about Rep. Roby.

An earnestness.

Thank you Rep. Roby.

Captain Hate on the iPad

Yes, Jane, I disagree.

Stephanie

Totally disagree Jane. There have been several partisan attempts at prosecutions of politicians in several states that have been specious.
