What is Hillary saying now?
The NY Times tiptoes around the evolution of her email explanations. I adore this:
Initial Statement
March 10, 2015 "We went through a thorough process to identify all of my work-related emails and delivered them to the State Department,” she said. “I have absolute confidence that everything that could be in any way connected to work is now in the possession of the State Department.” — statement by Mrs. Clinton at United Nations news conference
Later comments
June 25, 2015 It was disclosed in June that there were 15 emails between Mrs. Clinton and her longtime adviser Sidney Blumenthal, mainly dealing with events in Libya, that Mrs. Clinton did not provide to the State Department. In response to that development, a Clinton campaign official said, “We do not have a record of other correspondence between her and Mr. Blumenthal beyond that which was turned over to the State Department.” The official added, “We do not recognize many of those materials and cannot speak to their origin.” — The New York Times
...
Analysis
The campaign has not said what happened to these emails. But its failure to turn them over to the State Department has raised questions about whether Mrs. Clinton gave the department all the messages pertaining to her work as the nation’s top diplomat.
Questions have been raised! And answered, obviously - there is no question that not all the relevant emails were turned over. The only question might be, was this some sort of archiving error, or, well, editorial discretion as exercised by Team Clinton?
And the Clinton foundation was founded in part from an offshore tax havens.

Squaredance--the elites in the uniparty don't care what happens to the country. They believe, and are likely right, that they are protected. The uniparty is the new feudal aristocracy. The serfs benefit from noblesse oblige and the tradesmen are despised.

Hell you can tell Shep Smith doesn't give a damn about the deaths of Stevens, Smith, Doherty and Woods.
And the reporter from The Washington Times--isn't hearing anything new--possibly because he isn't doing his job.
Instead he's gadfly-ing about.
The Pompeo first line of questioning was new to me...but some how this reporter at The Washington Times has heard before?
It's possible he's heard it before--but America has not --because he chose to NOT report it.
I know milennials that smell a rat when it comes to Hillary's nesting doll system of emails, that something they even know instinctively as shady.

If we can only get forty more Republicans to vote against it, we can get a better deal, right? Right?

On the security situation (i.e., the "broader failures of policy" cited by Rhodes):
The main failure was leaving Iraq, which destabilized the whole region and gave away our only foothold.
The secondary failure was the gratuitous "kinetic military action" against Libya, which furthered no national security interest, and punished a foreign leader for complying with US anti-proliferation demands.
The tertiary failure was not enough security in Libya and not bothering to have a military standby, due apparently to wishful thinking.
On the email:
Clinton was the classifying authority and has absolute responsibility for the material on her server.
She knew she couldn't run State without discussing classified information, and thus had someone "scrub" markings and specifics. It's surely illegal and DoJ might even get around to admitting it.
She didn't care, because she rates control of politically sensitive information above national security.
On the post-attack misinformation:
The broader policy failures would've torpedoed Obama's reelection campaign. 'Nuff said.
Most of the stuff above was primarily Obama's responsibility, except for the emails. I think her main problem remains the private server and the obvious security issues. And I agree with Algonquin above that millenials are less likely to give her a pass on that point.

Obama just vetoed Defense Bill:
WASHINGTON, DC – House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) issued the following statement in response to President Obama’s veto of the conference report to H.R. 1735, the National Defense Authorization Act:
“By placing domestic politics ahead of our troops, President Obama has put America’s national security at risk. This indefensible veto blocks pay and vital tools for our troops while Iranian terrorists prepare to gain billions under the president’s nuclear deal. Congress should not allow this veto to stand.”

WaPo on 9-1-12: "Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton will be about as far away as her State Department plane could take her when the [Dem] convention opens in Charlotte. She left Washington on Thursday for an island hopping trip across the South Pacific and Southeast Asia, with visits to the Cook Islands, Timor-Leste and Brunei, on the island of Borneo. With additional stops in Indonesia, China and Russia, Clinton will be out of the country until several days after the convention ceremonies are over [the evening of Sept. 6]."
BOzo left the convention and immediately began a whirl of campaign stops that lasted through the weekend, which iirc he spent going all over FL, before finally returning to DC. Libya wasn't on either's radar.

Phew!
CNN is now asking why Stevens was in Benghazi.
IIRC that day Stevens had a meeting on that September 11th with an official of the Libyan nationalized oil company.
Benghazi is a huge oil distribution hub.
(The source for that IIRC was British.)
Some also report, but I not know for sure that Stevens met with a Turkish diplomat that day.
The best reporting immediately was from Nic Robertson-- but weirdly it was at CNN's international website.

jimmy's comment at 2:10 is right on point. Ryan is not a Leftist so much as someone who buys into Dirigisme as long as the providers are private entities.
I went back and looked at his first job at Empower America and recognized that Reinventing Government rhetoric. Then I doublechecked with someone who was going to meetings of theirs in the 90s who said absolutely, the first time she met the Seattle Pacific/Building Civilization Leadership crowd was at an EA meeting in the mid-90s.
We do not think of the term Conservative as someone who wants governments to be in charge with private and nonprofits as the providers but for many when they hype "free enterprise, Limited government, and market-based" that is just what they mean.
I am sure Ryan is a nice man and a good policy wonk but even his letter stated he had policy he wanted to pursue. Because we are all craving more government. Block grants are not limited government and they are not really traditional federalism either if we read the small print.
In federal legislation the small print is usually the language 3/4's of the way through after any sane person is asleep.

From the official House GOP site today after clicking on the "About" section: One picture that encapulates Boehner's subpar tenure. First, it's a bad pic, being too dark and too crowded. Second, is that a smiling Eric Cantor in the front-right? Third, why are the women relegated to the outskirts? Fourth, who is that enormous white guy prominently filling the primo center spot? I see Kevin McCarthy's out front, but where is Mia Love, Trey Gowdy, and Paul Ryan? Is this a pic of the Boehner fan club?

The reason the current ARB cannot be fully talked about at this public hearing.
Trey Gowdy letter to Elijah Cummings, Oct. 7th
."Ms. Mills and her appearance provide a perfect illustration as to why we do not release transcripts. Serious allegations have been made against several State Department employees in connection with PRODUCTION of documents related to the Accountability Review Board. These allegations are serious enough to investigate and serious enough not to repeat until such time as they are investigated."
Posted by: Algonquin | October 22, 2015 at 06:08 PM
The only thing these hearings are ever good for is if they have an absolute, slam dunk smoking gun already in their possession before it starts or some dramatic "have you no sense of decency" moment.
Otherwise they change almost nothing one way or t'other.
