If you're eating out in Atlanta, my FB friend Jeffrey Varasano who makes fabulous pizza has just opened up another of his restaurants in Perimeter Mall..It's very terrific looking. I don't know when he's at that one, but if he is, he's a really great guy.

Miss Marple 2

Miss Marple's nutritional pyramid:

MM, Pizza deserves a better position.

Miss Marple 2

clarice,

Maybe 5 pizzas at the bottom and the caffeine at the top.

LOL!

GMax

Clarice

Pig glands, eh? That would explain a lot of things actually...

narciso

Ot, what's with typhoon patricia, that came out of nowhere.

Miss Marple 2

narciso,

Indeed it did. From Tropical Storm to Category 5+ in 24 hours.

Hope those in its path have found safe haven.

Rick Ballard

Narciso,

It's just a little payback to Mexico for waving all the Central American peasants through last summer.

Re Red Witch - someone may have brought wolf bane or garlic into the room yesterday. I'm sure a warm cup of hell-broth brought her around afterwards.

I noticed there was a similar typhoon in 1961, but it's looks like something out of art bell.

Beasts - Congrats on your good fortune . . .

A week of ongoing birthday bacchanalia, success on the Tiffany front, and a gourmet dinner with a St. Emilion.
Life *is* good.

That's more like it, MM.

Good Morning.

Daddy, where ya been?

Clarice, Varasano's was the other suggestion that I made, but as RSE said... Perimeter is such a bitch to get around at lunch.

Maybe we will do Varasano's for a Friday afternoon sometime as they have started a 'happy hour.'

Been dying to meet Jeffery and Chris B, but alas, Chris' schedule keeps changing.

That was typhoon Nancy 215 mph in September 1961.

Anyone remember that one.

Happy birthday Michael.

Don't remember it, narciso.

"September 13, 2012

In prepared remarks at a State Department function, in direct contradiction to what she privately told the Egyptian Prime Minister just a day earlier, Hillary Clinton again blames the anti-Muslim video:

Unfortunately, however, over the last 24 hours, we have also seen violence spread elsewhere. Some seek to justify this behavior as a response to inflammatory, despicable material posted on the Internet. As I said earlier today, the United States rejects both the content and the message of that video. The United States deplores any intentional effort to denigrate the religious beliefs of others. At our meeting earlier today, my colleague, the foreign minister of Morocco, said that all prophets should be respected because they are all symbols of our humanity, for all humanity."

....said the lady that enjoyed the Broadway show, "The Book of Mormon".

BTW, I do not reject the content or the message of that crappy, low budget video "Innocence of Muslims". That video has more truth about Mohammad & Islam than we get from our lousy MFM or our politicians.

GMax, good! Thanks for the heads up.

Miss Marple 2

maryrose,

Thinking people will come to your conclusion.

The problem is that network news, influential newspapers and many bloggers on the left consider her a success because she didn't cry and answered questions in a "presidential" manner.

So despite her lies being revealed, I do not think it will move the numbers much.

daddy

Hi, Miss M and Jane,

Still on the road till Halloween night. They are working us pretty hard this trip, but most of the layovers are in fun towns so I am being a bad boy and am worse than normal at keeping up. Currently in Taipei watching the Ball Game in Chinese, but off to Singapore this afternoon where we finally get 2 days to hang around the pool. With stuff like the Hillary hearings going on it gets tougher than normal trying to catch up since the JOM threads get longer and longer.

Our big news is that the tentative contract with the Company was voted on and approved by the crew force and it lasts for 6 years. I'll be retired before another one comes up for a vote, so I shouldn't have to deal with another one of these long drawn out Union affairs in this lifetime. Yippee!

Miss M,

Love your food pyramid. I have finally found a decent 24 hour Pizzaria in Guangzhou, so I think your diagram is on the money. The beer's still terrible, but what you gonna' do? It's China.

Hillary!'s performance makes clear, once again, that "The Buck Stops Here" does not mean to her what Harry Truman meant.
Isn't her "I did not know" incriminating? Why wasn't Huma or Cheryl taking care of things better? Are they culpable?

Eod that year was August 19th, the sponsor of that dinner was effendi aujali, a big cair booster.

Jack is Back!

Just back from dinner at The Waverly Inn in the village. Very nice. Mrs. Jib and Frederick and I had our friends from Antwerp there who were on their way to a seating at the Village Vanguard (just down the street). The place was packed. The bar was overflowing. Not bad for a little place on Bank Street.

We're at the Gasenvoort (Goose Way) in the old meatpacking district. Lots of hipsters.

Miss Marple 2

daddy,

Glad to hear from you! Sorry that they are overworking you.

That food pyramid struck me funny, as we have seen the many changes in what you should eat over the last few years.

Frankly, it's closer to my diet, although one could substitute tacos and burgers for some of the pizza.

I am right there with the nicotine and alcohol. HA!

Glad to hear you found a good pizza place. Sorry about the beer quality.

Safe travels!

Miss M,

I think we should take that food pyramid and retitle it, The Menu at Kiwi's (Jane's) Bar and Grill.

Does that work for you Jane?

Miss Marple 2

Frau,

Thank you for that post. I was a Ratzinger convert, and am feeling abandoned given Pope Francis's strange pronouncements.

In fact, I have skipped mass the last 3 Sundays, which is not normally my style.

In the last few years I have lost my parents, my marriage, and my Pope.

Hopefully I will get my act together and go back to the Church.

Michael (fpa Patriot4Freedom)

Jane and narciso - Sorry, but it is *not* my birthday.

I was actually congratulating Beasts, who wrote that he is having a weeklong celebration of his birthday. Sounds like I've got to pay more attention to what I post.

Sorry for any confusion I created.

narciso

The word is more powerful than any one pope, it ensures while others pass from the scene. Romans really does gall our feckless leader, doesn't it.

narciso

Well it has and will be your birthday at some point.

Miss Marple 2

MM

No time like the present. Sure your church has a Mass on Saturday afternoon.

Janet

One big note of hope, MM is that parents, husbands, Popes, & even a church cannot save any of us. Only Almighty God can do that & He is unchanging....His promises are true.

No matter how bad things have gotten in the world, there has always been a remnant. It is actually kind of a privilege to be that remnant.
Keep the faith.
Keep proclaiming the truth....the Truth! He will see you through.

Come take a vacation in the DC area once & I'll put you up! Plenty of room & I'm a smoker too. You can even bring the pups! Hah!

clarice

Do nto do it, MM..She'll have you doing good works before you know it. Just a friendly warning.

maryrose

MM
You have your strong faith within you
I have seen miracles in healing of many loved ones
You give of yourself to others each day
You are doing God's work

Jack is Back!

maryrose,

Thanks. One of the fun things is walking the west village since it is made up of little known streets and ways. The place is full of cafes, bars, restaurants, wine shops, botiiques, all open in the evening for the curious buyer. So many great little places to imbide and eat. Frederick loves NYC and so far it is safe where we are.

Tomorrow our nephew from Antwerp is coming over from his hovel in New Jersey with his buddy for brunch. He is here on a visit from his graduate studies at Marquette University. I would like him to meet GUS and henry but I don't know if those two could keep up with this kids wit and knowledege:)

Janet

I'll get Miss Marple to help me put up those PP posters that Dave made!
I'll be braver with 2 of us. I'll drive the car & MM can staple them to telephone poles all over Arlington. Covert...midnight operation!

If we get caught I'll tell the police that I'm messy & that I'd like to be censured....or maybe ask for a Congressional hearing about my crime. Nothing happens then!

Buckeye

"....or maybe ask for a Congressional hearing about my crime. Nothing happens then!"

The other night we were heading northeast about 4 AM from Guangzhou to Tokyo. Venus popped up on our nose super bright, and I recalled Iggy saying something about a conjunction happening, so my partner pulled out the astronomical function on his iPad and aimed it at Venus, and it showed us that almost in line were Jupiter and a faint Mars. Cool!

That got the 2 of us wondering which planet is closest to Earth---Venus or Mars? Because of the new "Martian" movie and all the tales of Mars starting back with Edgar Rice Burroughs, I thought it would be Mars.

Shows what I know. Apparently it is Venus that at it's closest approach is the nearest planet to Earth, but then you read that as a consequence of the elliptical orbits of Venus, Earth, and Mars as they all jockey around the Sun, that whichever one is closest to Earth swaps from time to time. Having thought about that it makes a lot of sense. But then on one of the Astronomy websites I read this:

On rare occasions, Mercury can be the closest planet. For example, over 2,000 years ago, Mercury was only around 35 million miles away from our own planet. However, occurrences like this are extremely rare and can happen thousands of years apart.

Who'd a thunk it? Not me. So if it can be believed, What is the Closest Planet to Earth – Mars, Venus, or Mercury?

Jack,

Sky and Telescope has a story up I can't link about The Conjunction that says that the best alignment of the 3 planets will occur this weekend, so now you and Frederick might have some interesting stuff to quiz the Antwerp nephew on.

Beasts of England

Just my self-indulgent birthday week, Jane. Nothing official until next Thursday. :)

Outrageously fine dinner. The best part was all the compliments that my daughters received for being delightful young ladies. That's really all that matters. And the little one did share her St. Emilion - so that's nice. She was pretty jazzed about four different Champages, though. Ha!

Wow, here comes the rain in Kansas City.

Exciting game, tied in the 8th, and now a rain delay. Chinese Taipei is big baseball country, so they are following this closely and you can tell the announcers are really excited.

I hope that all the remaining Teams having Blue, not Red Team colors, isn't a harbinger of our upcoming election.

So thanks to that moron, Kevin McCarthy, I had to endure seeing NBC's Lester Dolt talk about what a bounce brave Sir Edmund Hillary Diane Rodham got out of the hearings. The good news is that if the GOP doesn't nominate Tomato Can #3, he/she can use her unlikeable demeanor on display and complete lack of regret over the role her inebriated lack of leadership had in the deaths of four people much better than her and her ilk to add to the public's present level of revulsion.

$240,000 jury award to Muslim truck drivers who were fired for refusing to transport alcohol

So US Christian bakers have to bake cakes for Gay Weddings or they are fined out of business, but US Muslim truckers win awards of $240,000 for refusing to drive cargos of alcohol.

Does that make sense to anyone?

Liberals are afraid of the Muslims and bend over backwards not to offend them - even offering them multi-million dollar jury settlements for spurious claims. Christians seldom fight back, so they are made fun of, or taunted if they get too threatening with their clean-living attitudes.

The Infamous Ignatz

What if a muslim refuses to deliver alcohol to a gay bar named Porkies owned by two married dudes who are Jews?

First guess; a Christian baker will have to pay both parties a quarter mill.
Either that or leftists will wink out of existence.

Levin played Forest Gump's interview last night and it proved that the doofus learned absolutely nothing from the voters in his district's pocket of sanity in an otherwise deranged state sending him packing. Even the Beeb's interviewer sounded incredulous at the weird rationalizations offered by somebody who had all the advantages at his disposal.

I was hoping he might learn from what happened and act accordingly but, like most of the RINO herd, is unable to recognize that he lost contact with the people he was elected to represent. He viewed himself more a member of Team RINO than his district. He seems to want to run for governor or the Senate. Judging from the trash the state regularly populates those offices with, maybe he'll be more successful. Perhaps the same consultants who squandered the incumbency advantage are filling his empty head with those pieces of chocolate. Either way, I'm sure his former district will relish voting against him again.

http://pamelageller.com/2015/10/the-death-of-property-rights-in-europe.html/ is fascinating.

Steph-we could do Friday afternoon, which in that area starts at three. Must stay away from all office buildings though. Throughout the area the buildings hire off-duty police who empty out the parking decks while adjacent streets simply are stuck. I can make jokes about the Soviet housing or who thought it was a good idea to call the owner "Citizens" Properties.

Could have called it the Comrade Communes.

I also like how that area kindly gives signs to locate the closest Chamber of Cronies so businessmen can pay homage.

That's as bad as 'wiping, like with a cloth?'. There is serious disturbance in there and I don't know whether it is psychotic or arrogance gone out of bounds from never heeding limits.

"Can you imagine what the MSM would be saying about a hearing in which a Republican Secretary of State was shown to have presented one set of Benghazi facts to her own family, but another to the family of the victims and the American public? “Secretary lied, Americans died” comes to mind."....

"Such clear evidence of lying to the American people would be considered a “smoking gun” if it were presented against a Republican. Presented against a Democratic presidential contender, it receives no mention in the Washington Post’s lead story about the hearing. Nor does Hillary’s email to Chelsea."

Unbelievable.

Good morning!

Captain Hate, I am glad Levin played that BBC interview with Cantor. I heard it live on the radio in the middle of the night and almost got up to report on it. I linked it here to the BBC site a couple of days ago, but I think you were on the road.

I was right, wasn't I? That BBC guy looked aghast, like Cantor was mentally ill or something!

It was a good window into the thinking of that group of people. They are all about themselves, don't give a hoot for the country or even their party.

Judge who signed off on treatment deal for suspected cop killer says she is ‘truly sorry’

One of the New York judges who helped send a suspected cop killer to rehab instead of jail five months ago said Friday that the deadly shooting "breaks her heart" and that she is "truly sorry."

Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Patricia Nuñez told The New York Post that she will address the issue further at a Nov. 12 court date for the suspect, Tyrone Howard. The paper reported that Howard was freed despite a history of three felony sale convictions and the urging of prosecutors in the drug case.

Officer Randolph Holder's killing Tuesday has raised questions about the risks and potential shortcomings of drug courts, or drug diversion programs, which have been embraced nationwide as a way to ease jail overcrowding and reduce crime by attacking it at one of its sources: drug abuse.

New York's mayor and police commissioner have branded Howard a career criminal who had once been arrested in a 2009 gunfight on an East Harlem basketball court and should not have been out on the streets.

"He would have been the last person in New York City I would've wanted to see in the diversion program," Police Commissioner William Bratton said.

Easy to say now. Who's the second to last person?

MM-I have been reading a sociological theory developed in the 60s to create the consditions for the political class to engage in societal guidance. It made the point that it is far easier to force the transformation and build up an 'authentic consensus' for the necessity of change if there are nominally two competing visions.

Three or more decreases efficiency and one appears authoritarian so counter-resistance flares. Hard to read that passage and not think of Cantor, Romney, Jeb, Ryan, McConnell, etc. The love of Bipartisanship and making public policy seem like the Holy Grail.

I keep having to take a break because the current parallels are so acute. probably why it came to my attention in the first place from a server in Europe, but concerning the US and a vision for China and the USSR as well.
