Captain Hate on the iPad

Joe Buck with a beard? I thought Halloween was on Saturday.

narciso

can you believe these jackalopes,

http://hotair.com/headlines/archives/2015/10/25/charlie-hebdos-recovery-from-attacks-opens-new-wounds-for-staff/

maybe they are groveling for prince talal's dime,

James D.

Can, he ought to win Coach of the Year, considering the dreadful roster the GM gave him, especially on defense.

James D.

That was a season-saving win.

JIB

Giants win? No way😇

Jeff Dobbs

Look, I'm not expecting a gosh darn thing from the Cowboys without Romo and Dez. I expect them to lose all the games.

But to have the ball 38 minutes out of 60, to out-gain the Ginats 460 to 289, to have a runner go 29 carries for 152 yards and still lose?

Boo....

TCFAB!

Tonto

Anyone else hearing that Jeb is dropping out of the race immanently????

Beasts of England

Don't tease us, Tonto!!

Tonto

Not a tease. This is what we're hearing.

lyle

Probably a JOB saving win for Coughlin.

Where'd you hear that, Tonto?

Truthbetold

Gus

Yes Hastert was committing crimes while in office.

Tonto

But, you know, political gossip. Peter Schweitzer's book, Bush Cash, or whatever it's called, is coming out next week. Just another ingredient in the stew.

henry

Then jail him. Duh.

lyle

Beasts, the missus got a '06 Colgin Herb Lamb Vineyard Cabernet for her 60th b-day from a good friend. Did I mention he's a good friend?

Beasts of England

I'm pretty sure that good is implied. I assume that you get a taste? :)

And happy 60th to Mrs. lyle!!

Captain Hate on the iPad

I have no great love for a Repuke like Hastert, but that strange clip was at least as much of a revelation of what trash the Clinton Crime Family is as anything. I still don't know what "justice" is being served by going after a situation where somebody who didn't press criminal charges was receiving money for whatever it was that Hastert did. That's sure a lot damn better than other victims receive in terms of damages.

Rick Ballard

Tonto,

It's possible that Bush has missed the metrics required to maintain pledged support, in which case he would definitely withdraw, but it's also quite possible that a whisper campaign has been mounted. Chi sa, non parla. Chi parla, non sa. works the same in politics as it does in the Mafia.

I'd really like to see a pledge deal book some day.

lyle

Plan to drink side it by side with an '06 Araujo some day soon for research purposes and the greater good of mankind. Such selflessness is what I'm all about...

Jim Miller

Computer folks may be interested in the problem I ran into with NYT/Amazon this morning.

I just put up a post describing the problem, if you are curious. What puzzles me most is that one of the two companies didn't fix it right way. There must be some complexity about the problem that I am missing.

(Amazon says that lots of customers have complained, and that their tech people are are working on it.)

narciso

it was an late day edition from the 24th,

Ignatz Ratzkiwatzki

There's an obvious (and permanent) solution to your problem, Jim.

Jane

I'm starting to think if you are not corrupt you are a fool. And I am clearly a fool.

Truthbetold

Captain

The real question is. Why did they slap down Hastert in this way?

Dave (in MA)

A poll of Patterico readers:

I love Trump. I would enthusiastically vote for him. 73 12%

I don't care for Trump, but he's better than Hillary. I'd vote for him over her. 416 70%

I will never, under any circumstances, vote for Donald Trump. 103 17%

narciso

yep, and this is part of why, I am in the second camp,

http://therightscoop.com/trump-extols-bipartisanship-throws-benghazi-committee-under-the-bus/

Captain Hate on the iPad

Truthbetold, imo it was a warning to somebody or some groups of people. The prosecution of Petraeus while Rodham remains unindicted should bother everybody no matter what their political stripes. Hastert is a further reminder to anybody with something in their past they don't want known.

This is no better than the Stasi.

Beasts of England

Every once in a while, you have to take one for the team, lyle! :)

The Patterico poll surprises me - they seem to have a pragmatic/libertarian bent by my reading. Perhaps my reading is incorrect...

narciso

A prosecution for emolement, is that the phrase, would not have been a sure thing,

Jim Miller

narciso - Right you are, and that probably has something to do with the mistake.

Ignatz - Well, if you are going to criticize the NYT, as I do fairly frequently, you have to either buy it, or spend a lot of time at a library.

And there are worthwhile pieces in the newspaper from time to time. For instance, I thought that Anemona Hartocollis did some fine articles on higher prices from decreasing competition in medical services.

narciso

I would go with the most obvious conclusion, first,

Truthbetold

Captain, what should really bother everybody is that both parties are complicit in all of these scandals. Including Benghazi.

Benghazi is all about "Operation Zero Footprint"

Michael (fpa Patriot4Freedom)

Maureen O'Hara, one of the truly memorable stars of the 40's through the 70's, passed away yesterday.

Jamaica Inn (1939)

The Black Swan (1942)

Flame of Araby (1951)

The Quiet Man (1952)

She was famous for a number of major roles, including "How Green Was my Valley" and "Miracle on 34th Street", and for the five movies she made with John Wayne, including "The Quiet Man."

I always thought there was a special chemistry between them when she appeared with John Wayne, although they never married. One sensed that she loved him deeply, so it wasn't surprising to learn that she had a special guest bedroom made for John Wayne in her home in the Caribbean, and ready for him to visit her at any time.

She said of John Wayne (in 2013): “I was tough. I was tall. I was strong. I didn’t take any nonsense from anybody. He was tough, he was tall, he was strong and he didn’t take any nonsense from anybody. As a man and a human being, I adored him.”

What a beautiful woman. May she RIP.

Gateway Pundit:One of the first moves the Obama administration made after the Sept. 11, 2012, terrorist attack on the U.S. special mission at Benghazi, Libya, was to contact YouTube in an apparent attempt to blame the attack on an obscure “Pastor Jon” video, according to State Department documents obtained in a lawsuit by the Washington, D.C. watchdog Judicial Watch.

Later, the administration famously claimed the attack was provoked by another YouTube video, “Innocence of Muslims,” by Egyptian-born filmmaker Nakoula “Mark” Basseley Nakoula…

…Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton said the latest release of documents “show the Obama White House rushed to tie yet another video to the Benghazi attack, even before Ambassador Stevens was accounted for.”

“The Obama White House, evidently, was confused as to which Internet video to falsely blame for the Benghazi terrorist attack,” said Fitton. “These documents show that the Obama White House should have been focused on rescuing our people under fire.”

He said the documents “detail delays and lack of support that raise questions about whether American lives were needlessly lost and put at risk during the Benghazi attack.”

Just three hours after the initial attack on U.S. personnel in Benghazi, a memo said the White House was “reaching out to U-Tube to advise ramifications of posting of the Pastor Jon video.”

Judicial Watch said the “Pastor Jon” reference might have been to a rarely viewed video by Oregon-based Pastor Jon Courson titled “God vs. Allah,” an exposition of the biblical book of Kings.

*****

Apparently they decided that wouldn't work and then flailed about and came up with the hapless Nakoula's video(Thank goodness they didn't grab any family videos.)

narciso

so why the insistence on toppling Qaddafi now, I question I didn't hear from anyone on that panel,
much as with Hastert it was an abject lesson, if you collaborate with us, if you act against AQ, as Egypt did, you will be targeted,

Jeff Dobbs

Unplugging again. Yay!

Everyone say, Yay!

kthxbai

lyle

Yay!

Rick Ballard

They went with Nakoula when the realized they could jail him easily. That made Red Witch's lies to the families of those killed much "tougher" in tone.

Calling her a slime bucket defames all slime buckets.

clarice

tonto, I know jeb is quoted having said something to the effect he has better things to do with his life.

clarice

Yes, Rick..that's my take.

Beasts of England

Where do you store the pool table in an RV?

Ignatz Ratzkiwatzki

On the roof.
Not optimal in hurricanes but useful for MIL games on the interstate.

narciso

you lash them to the roof?

Ignatz Ratzkiwatzki

Depends on how much you like your MIL.

Ignatz Ratzkiwatzki

I kinda fell in love with Maureen O'Hara myself first time I watched The Quiet Man.

clarice

These days the Quiet Man would be classified as a sex offender and the movie banned from college campuses.
.

Ignatz Ratzkiwatzki

--Ignatz - Well, if you are going to criticize the NYT, as I do fairly frequently, you have to either buy it, or spend a lot of time at a library.--

Nonsense. I criticize all sorts of things I know nothing about and never read.
Not sure you get the whole point of this internet thing, Jim.

MaryD

Iggy, your 8:48 is one for the ages! LOL

Comment by Wretchard to his own column;

wretchard
Hillary's claim that attempts to "impeach" her, are "pathetic" are true in that there's little immediate prospect it will actually happen. But she's making Boehner's mistake. She's energized enemies who can slow her down, gum things up, paralyze things. The cheapest way to govern is by wide acceptance. The most expensive way is from the isolation of a distant throne.

What happened to Boehner; what is happening to Obama internationally, and to some extent even domestically, is that because the natives are restless they have to rule from a clique. Nobody can move any distance without watching the woods.

Hillary thinks it's about winning. But it's really about governing and everything one saw in her 'triumphal' performance during the hearing suggests that she has made foes where could make no friends. She's pissed off people she didn't have to.

Of course the Republicans are doing much the same thing: rallying to their base. The net effect of both trends will be a high degree of polarization. Whoever wins will have a heck of a time governing a divided country. Under those circumstances, the spoils system, which is stable as long as both sides get their turn, will mutate from a pareto optimal to a zero sum game.

To use the old Vietnam metaphor: Hillary is destroying the game in order to "win" it.

That is her fatal flaw that Billy Jeff and even Biden understood.
Even Barry when campaigning plays the conciliatory card better than she does.
Evidently that card is not in the official Harridan Playing Card Company Deck.

narciso

the truth, albeit an incomplete one, that doesn't focus on the fact that AQ terrorists were employed to topple a cooperating government with us, that is 'polarizing', there's a touch of Vizzini.

narciso

what did he think was going to happen,

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3289169/Faux-sincerity-Weasel-words-Spin-King-strikes-MICHAEL-BURLEIGH-Tony-Blair-s-controversial-Iraq-war-apology.html

anonamom

Somebody needs to tell Wretchard he doesn't need to worry about polarization from these hearings-- this country got polarized when the Ds passed Obamacare without a single R vote.

Or maybe it was when Obama told the Congessional leadership
"I won."

There hasn't been any governing going on here in a long time.
Ruling, yes; governing, not so much.

lyle

Wretchard is a sage. How's the lying bitch going to famously move to the center in the general now? Who in the world would believe her if she tried to to moderate her tone? Is she THAT assured her chromosomes are enough? As Fernandez sez: even Precious sounded centrist even though he was lying through his teeth. How does Hilligula pull that off now? Oh, wait, the MFM will cover for her endlessly. Yay.

narciso

the threat does not come from that corner, I mean do you see Comey pulling the trigger, or McBride, his deputy now works as Huma's counsel, TDYed from the WH counsel's office,

Tonto:http://prntly.com/blog/2015/10/25/developing-amidst-insults-to-gop-voters-jeb-to-drop-out-monday/

it did sound like 'you won't have nixon to kick around' anymore,

I hope I'm not premature in saying, "adios, señor Yeb." Maybe you turn around and snag Hilligula's veep spot. You deserve nothing less.

there's a backstory to this fellow,

hrtshpdbox

I hope I'm not premature in saying, "adios, señor Yeb."

Premature, and a little bit racist too, nice combo. It is a shame, but almost predictable in these sad times, with a once grand party that's a mere shell of what is was just 30 years ago, to see a good man and a true Republican jeered at while a dangerous clown who is the very definition of Republican In Name Only is bizarrely embraced. And at a website where ostensibly thinking Republicans post. End of times stuff, yeppers.

Truthbetold

hrtshpdbox

If you are referring to Jeb Bush when you say "a good man" you need to do your homework.

narciso

of course, mr, drumheller, figures in that story,

I don't think he does things out of malice, but in keeping with what he knows, for 20 years, his focus was with the Cuban American community, who are still markedly different that the majority of hispanics, even though this last generation has followed up the same pattern,

rse

The footage of jeb over the weekend sounding petulant and "if you want trump" and "I have better things to do" was horrific.

I sent my Red the story on Maureen O'Hara passing and she had never heard of her. I told her to look her up in color. Same copper penny hair.

Red said "Oh. Wow."

narciso

Stephen Grey, when reviewing the above matter, discovered many German and US officials had sold them a bill of goods,

clarice

Perhaps if jeb had adopted some policies his base finds important, he wouldn't be in that spot. Just saying/Perhaps if he'd run a plausible campaign, he wouldn't have burned thru all that $$$ with nothing to show for it.

Might I suggest that Rove's type campaign doesn't work for anyone but Rove these days..and smart campaigners know that paying guys like him a lot of money to produce and place useless ads is not the ticket.

clarice

Walker was my first choice, but he quickly fell into the raise a lot of $$, hire "top men" and they'll direct you to the winner's circle, too.

Oh, and fuck off. I assume you can understand that, hrt. Self righteous jerk.

Bush may be joining Perry and Walker in not having hit the benchmarks for second round funding. I'm not sure that it's consultants as much as the result of the "I'll gladly be conservative on Tuesday." strategy having gone past its sell by date, leaving an opening for the yahoo and Carson.

Buckeye

hrtshpdbox

What have the "good" Republicans done for you lately? Sure haven't done anything for me.

Jeb may have some admirable qualties, but one lacking is the ability to gain mindshare with the voters in the coming primary.

I know I won't miss him.

anonamom

Or Cruz.

Jim Miller

Gresham's Law.

Rick Ballard

Cruz definitely, Rubio very probably. Neither have the burn rate problem and Cruz seems to have the organizational edge at the moment. If Bush is out, Rubio will probably pick up wrt both money and organization.

Yeb is Hispanic and by that I mean a not white Hispanic?

--a once grand party that's a mere shell of what is was just 30 years ago--

30 years ago it was a minority party with a weak bench throughout most states. Its squishes did have better manners and more party loyalty than the ones now I will admit.

yes, whoopie we have the congress, and it either can't or won't push for significant and permanent public policy changes, that support it's side,

Ignatz Ratzkiwatzki

What's a prntly and who is Dmitri Voltava?
His story is incoherent; the first half says Bush is dropping out while the second says his strategy is to grind it out through early voting next year using his massive resources.

Rick Ballard

In 1985 Tip Oneill had 253 votes in the House and Bob Dole had 53 seats in the Senate. Sixteen states had Republican governors and thirty-four had Fascists. The GOP picked up sixteen House seats in the landslide but lost two Senate seats while winning one governorship.

Ignatz Ratzkiwatzki

--really, 30 years, it was coming off the biggest landslide in a generation, now they barely break even, they have large blocs of working class voters--

30 years ago we had one guy; RR.
Now we have majorities in congress and control of many more state houses.
Congress has so far been useless but the story isn't over yet. Once 2016 is in the books we will see who wins the battle for the soul of the party. If the squishes win 1985 will indeed look like a golden age. If not we'll see what occurs.

narciso

there's no need to be abusive, in any language, jeb might think like NcCain, he can survive the grass roots rebellion, or like Romney crush his opponents one at a time, 'he might think that' as Francis Urquart might put it,

narciso

well I was saying, don't minimize that result, even though it was squandered on a tax reform, 'that was worse than useless,' in many respects,

That Prntly thing looks slightly demented if one goes to its homepage, and it looks like a one man dementia.
