« To Which I Would Add | Main | Team Obama - US Still On The Board In Syria »

OL left out a word--"finding undisclosed new meanings for existing words".

People who hear phrases assume the Webster's dictionary meaning continues unabated. Insiders or intrepid outsiders like me know exaCTLY what is being said and promised.

I am signed up in the next 2 weeks for about 5 programs where I am there to quietly listen with my internalized Glossary of what is really being said.

CH @ 8:48

I wouldn't mind seeing Biden called out, on the national stage, for his lies about the accident that killed his first wife.

That alone ought to disqualify him not only for the Presidency, but for inclusion in polite society among decent people. But the Dems have no problem with rapists, drug abusers, men who slander innocent people to further their career, or even murderers, among their party leadership.

Miss Marple 2

This explains the Kennedy endorsement of Obama.

They were all drunk.

Old Lurker

Great point, thanks RSE.

Ooops. I hope I do not get accused of lying in wait to get a comment at top of post page. An interesting take on just what I am doing on a typical morning.

Father of Oregon shooter Christopher Harper-Mercer blames guns for college shooting: ‘How is it so easy?’

Mercer said he had no idea how his 26-year-old son managed to stockpile an arsenal — all of which was purchased legally — in the apartment he shared with his mother.

The Daily News revealed that the mother, Laurel Harper, was an outspoken gun lover, who collected weapons and let her son use them without supervision, fearing any restrictions on gun use. She had split with Mercer and taken their son when he was a baby.

Are we going to find that the mother is an NRA member?

Hillary Clinton revealed to have over a million fake Twitter followers - more than any other presidential hopeful

Hillary Clinton has over one million fake Twitter followers, more than any other presidential hopeful

Donald Trump also has more than one million fake followers, but a higher percentage of real followers on the social media platform

Almost half of Joe Biden's followers are fake

Among those running for president, Bernie Sanders has the highest percentage of real followers with 92%

Fake followers are a 'mix of inactive Twitter users , completely fake users that are created for the sole purpose of following people, and spam bots'

Clinton and Trump still have far more followers than anyone else running for president

I bet your contract talks haven't sunk to this level:

Bloody Baltimore: No end seen to post-Freddie Gray spike in homicides, shootings

For September, homicides were up 39 percent and non-fatal shootings nearly doubled over the same month in 2014, continuing a disturbing trend that has gripped the Charm City since Gray's death in April and the rioting that followed. For the year, murders are up 52 percent and non-fatal shootings 80 percent over last year.

"We have highly motivated bad guys in Baltimore," Baltimore police spokesman T.J. Smith told FoxNews.com.

"Everywhere they go, they are getting challenged," Lt. Gene Ryan, president of the Baltimore Fraternal Order of Police, told Fox News Channel's Greta Van Susteren in May, days after six cops were indicted on charges ranging from misconduct to depraved-heart murder. "They are just -- they are being attacked at every different angle and they're not getting the support they need and deserve."

"I don't think police officers are going to engage potential gang members the way they did before [Freddie] Gray," Greenberger said.

"Oregon Shooter Was An ISIS Attack (Media Black Out)

Posted on Mon Oct 05 2015 02:07:53 GMT-0700 (PDT) by Enlightened1

Here are the facts that the media refuses to report because they are too busy ranting about gun control:

1) Shooter name WAS Chris Harper-Mercer

2) ISIS claimed responsibility that it was a terror attack from one of their own

3) Chris Harper-Mercer was a Muslim convert and changed his name to Saiv Sharma

4) He targeted Christians

5) Russia's Security Service, FSB, had this guy on their Terror Watch List. The same list they offered to the USA about one month ago, to which they refused. The list has 87,000 names."

What is up with #5 on that list?

Dave (in MA)

Patches and RFK Jr. were fortunate that only the girls got the family icepick to the forehead treatment.

Ignatz Ratzkiwatzki

#5 seems to have come about through a virgin birth.
I wouldn't mind seeing an original, verifiable source for #1-3 either.
The poster's claim about an IS flag in the background of a pic seems untrustworthy too.

Ignatz Ratzkiwatzki

Is it just me or has Trumpysteria quieted considerably?
Temporary lull?
Different tactics by him?

Miss Marple 2

The way I see it the media was covering him for ratings and also because they thought it was funny that he was throwing a monkey wrench in the GOP primary.

When it occurred tot hem that maybe he could win and that the other candidates were starting to use some of his ideas, they suddenly went all quiet.

Also, he has been a bit less bombastic, instead giving interviews and releasing policy papers.

We will see.

Rick Ballard

"Temporary lull?"

As temporary as pining for the fjords has ever been.

Not really a verification since she quotes some site called Heavy.

Janet S. ~ et al.

When it occurred tot hem that maybe he could win and that the other candidates were starting to use some of his ideas, they suddenly went all quiet.

I agree.

I have never read anything about school that made me more infuriated than this.

It's about control, playing the way adults think best, shaping minds, and sheer bureaucratic, crunchy granola thinking that has ruined childhood in so many areas.

Heh, catching up, I see iOTWReport has a post about the same kind of dinner disruption that Iggy, DrJ, Elliott, PDinDetroit and I were treated to in Berkeley.

There's even video!

I admit, I watched maybe a minute and a half and had to stop. Found myself craving a hunk of meat.

James D

Wow, MM.

It's also about gouging the taxpayers. $14,500 to pay a consultant to spend one week a month at one school supervising recess?

Some OR Christians Killer news, at least to me:

Laurel Harper, the killer's murder-enabling black mom, was 38 when he was born and 64 yo now. No mention of any other children. Neighbors in Torrance, CA, say the two lived in the same 1 bedroom apartment from the time he was a toddler until the last several years.

An interview with the mother of the 18 yo male, who the killer selected to live and give LE a packet containing the thumb-drive w/info, said the boy was ordered to sit in the back of the room and remain immobile and was forced to watch as the killings occurred before him. Video from what looked like a memorial service focused on what appeared to be the chosen survivor - overweight, bespeckled, leaning forward w/head down, looking devastated. Like all the other victims seen, this surviving young man is white too.

Miss Marple 2

I am just not thinking creatively enough on how to make money.

What a scam. Takes fleecing the taxpayers to a new level, doesn't it?

Congrats Jane!
Yes that's the big question. We moved end of July and we have boxes to the ceiling. Of course our problem was we moved into a home that was already full of furniture. Lots in storage. Every time we need something it comes down to --- yes we have that but it's in a box somewhere.
I have found in past moves that sometimes those last few boxes never get unpacked.

Janet S. ~ et al.

Remember too that "the boy" was 26 years old.

He was a man.

Old Lurker

1 BR Apt since he was a toddler? Who got the couch?

Hillary is now vowing to lead a national movement against the NRA? I thought several weeks ago she was going to use ill health as a pretext to drop out, but it sounds like she's all in now.

Janet S. ~ et al.

We probably have that here in Arlington already, JamesD. I wouldn't be surprised at all.

We had some lady from Arlington County give a talk about biking to our community assn. A paid employee in some "bike dept." or something.

"BikeArlington is a program of Arlington County Commuter Services (ACCS), a bureau of the Arlington, Virginia Department of Environmental Services."

"Arlington County Commuter Services (ACCS) is funded in part by grants from the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT), the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) and the Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation (DRPT)."

the car-free diet propaganda campaign is part of this too.

Think of all the people we pay for this stuff. Is that why citizens formed governments?? For this nonsense???

It is almost impossible to find a list of all employees & all departments for Arlington.

You may be amused to learn that I walk by one of those bike rental places when I walk from the Motel where I usually stay to NSF. The number of bikes at said rental place never seems to change, and I've never seen on anywhere else.

Michael Goodwin asks a serious question.

What did he know and when did he know it? The immortal question about Richard Nixon and Watergate should be posed to Barack Obama about Syria. What and when did he know about Vladimir Putin’s axis-of-evil coalition?

The significance is not limited to Syria. The question goes to the heart of the Iran nuclear deal, especially the timing of the congressional votes.

Michael (fpa Patriot4Freedom)

Jane - Yeah ! You made it safely through the storms and flooding.

Welcome home !

Old Lurker

Even as far back as 1990, Arlington forced us to include a bike storage room and shower facilities for bikers commuting to a building we wanted to build but which required county blessing.

Janet S. ~ et al.

This Instapundit post made me think of Dave's PP flyer that he made me - http://pjmedia.com/instapundit/215873/

BLUE ON BLUE: Someone is leaving these incredibly harsh notes on Volkswagen diesel cars in Portland:

Here is the PP flyer - http://s8.postimg.org/gbwr9zbd1/forsalebaby.png

I'm still putting out 3 or 4 a day. I wrote up some Post-its too with the same message & I leave those around.
I don't think I'd have the nerve to put them on people's cars though.

The Coast Guard has recovered a body from the missing cargo ship. They are no longer looking for the vessel, but are hoping to find survivors. This isn't looking good.

Janet S. ~ et al.

The number of bikes at said rental place never seems to change,

They are all over. Our community assn. begged to get one near us.
What is odd is to have government run a subsidized bike rental business. We are subsidizing people that could afford a bike & subsidizing tourists.
The program loses money.

It isn't that the idea is lousy, in such a tourist area...it is that it isn't government's job. A private company should be doing the bike rental business.

Janet S. ~ et al.

The bikes used are probably from some Dem. crony.

Great , Jane!!!!

The bikes used are probably almost certainly from some Dem. crony.

Fixed it for ya. Its Terry McAwful after all, and he knows how to do crony scams with the best of them...

DOJ Settles with BP for Over $20B

The agreement is "the largest settlement with a single entity in American history," U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch said. The heads of the Environmental Protection Agency and the departments of Commerce and Agriculture joined her for the announcement.

"Once approved by the court, this agreement will launch one of the largest environmental restoration efforts the world has ever seen," Lynch said.

We can imagine.

Old Lurker

Can't blame her for swinging at the easy ball can you?

Thanks Boehner Lite:

"But House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-California), the front-runner to become the next House speaker, last week handed Clinton and her campaign a new tool with which to go on the offensive.

During a Fox News interview, McCarthy seemed to tout the House Benghazi committee's role in instigating email-related revelations that tore down Clinton's poll numbers — instead of the committee's role in investigating the 2012 attack on the diplomatic compound in Libya. Democrats pounced and said the comment exposed the committee as a partisan sham.

Clinton agreed with the criticism during her Monday "Today" interview and suggested that the committee should be shut down.

"This committee was set up, as they have admitted, for the purpose of making a partisan, political issue out of the deaths of four Americans," she said. "I would have never done that! And if I were president — and there were Republicans or Democrats who were thinking about that — I would have done everything to shut it down."

Beasts of England

Glad you made it safely, Jane!!

Meanwhile any resistance to the top has been corkered.

Ol @ 12:18

Remember, the reason we're supposed to support the party leadership and the veteran politicans is because they know how to win elections. They know how to conduct themselves with the press. They know how to avoid gaffes or hand the opposition easy issues. They're not careless and unprofessional like those crazed Tea Party hobbits.

When the CFR is excited about the Trans-Pacific Partnership, as they were with wioa, it is telling. http://blogs.cfr.org/renewing-america/2015/10/05/the-tpp-agreement-big-things-are-still-possible/

Interesting this was negotiated in atlanta. I did a story at beginning of year on the CIFAL network globally and how the one for North America is in atlanta. Probably not a coincidence.

Miss Marple 2

Well, actually, Obama fans disagree. I disagree too, but for a different reason.

Why does this make any sense at all?

Lawmakers Weigh Cut in Fed Payout to Banks

More than $1 billion a year would go to pay for highway construction

WASHINGTON—Lawmakers are looking to extract more than a billion dollars a year in fresh funds from banks in the U.S.

The proposal, already approved by the Senate, would cut the annual dividend payments banks receive for holding shares in the Federal Reserve System and use the savings for highway construction.

What do banks have to do with highway funds?

about the same amount as your retirement funds do DrJ.

Old Lurker

DrJ the government will look under any and all rocks for the last bit of OPM so they can spend it. This just means they found another rock.

Red queen feeds on human misery, like momma strigoi in the strain.

Beasts of England

Shillary has two plays on offense now: gun control and Benghazi. One handed to her by a nut of unknown persuasion and one by the GOPe. Now she gets to play the victim (her favorite role) and demonize the NRA and gun owners.

And all this noise is two weeks before she testifies? Look for some grandstanding. Might as well cancel the hearings. The only soundbites on the news will be her decrying the politics of it all. I'm serious.

buccaneer morgan

Well she'd go Lillian hellman, regardless.

Old Lurker

You are seriously correct, Beasts.

20,000,000,000 ÷ 12,000 = 1,666,666.66

I rate this story 1,666,667 Ramos Piñatas

The Chicago Lurking Unit has a thought or two:

DrJ's question has more to it than one might think. Currently, banks hold untradable shares in the Fed as part of their Tier 1 capital structure. These shares are part of what is considered the stable part of bank solvency. Lawmakers are looking to grab part of that solvency for their own "infrastructure" funds, a k a the notoriously crony-focused Highway Fund.

IMO, This is an election funding cash grab and signals that the re-election cash demands remain as high as ever, but the donor pool is getting squeezed in other ways, say like higher mandatory health care costs. "DC Uniparty Seeks New Cash For Old Business" should be the appropriate headline for the unwritten article.

If the House GOP cannot discipline its members so that they just ask questions, rather than pontificate, then, yes, they should cancel the hearings. But if the members can ask a question then shut up and coordinate their questions with each other (so that interesting lines of inquiry are followed up), then maybe there is a chance this is worth while.

Plus -- even if the media ignores the hearings -- the folks making campaign ads, you tube guerrillas, and Fox will not. That media does get out there, though it sometimes takes time.

Miss Marple 2

I bet Gowdy is fit to be tied.

The best thing he could do now is to have the hearings behind closed doors.

JiB, that link required a warning.

buccaneer morgan

That out break of foot in mouth by mccarthy, is similar to what Dennis has warned kudlow about.

Instead of having each Congress idiot ask questions why not make them yield their time to Gowdy or the lead attorney for the majority?

Those PP hearings were a joke. There were only two issues that needed to be covered:

1 The harvesting and sales of body parts.

2 The laundering of money to the Democrats.

Everything else did not matter. I don't care how Cecile travels or how much she makes.

They went after the shiney object (embarrassing Richards) and took their eye off the ball.

Ignatz Ratzkiwatzki

From MM's playground link;

Chris Holden, principal at Normandale Elementary, has seen the Playworks benefits in the first few weeks of school. He’s noticed fewer student visits to the principal’s office and the nurse’s office after recess.

The benefits to a principle might not be the benefits to a kid.
All that tells me is they aren't letting kids be kids which involves getting hurt and getting in trouble because they're deciding for themselves how to have fun.

One of the truly bizarre aspects of the world is those who claim they value individual expression and diversity the most are the least tolerant clowns on the planet who try to enforce the most rigid, incorrigible conformity and group think on everyone.
They believe in diversity as long as everyone is diverse just like them; you can have a Model T in any color you want so long as it's a rainbow.

And while the car chase is supremely exciting and involves a black 68 Charger, pretty much my favorite American car ever, it is possibly the worst part of the movie technically.

Good luck with that. Hillarycare gets the credit but the assault weapon ban was an even larger reason for the 94 GOP takeover and massacre of the Dems.
If she wants to slam her leaky campaign pirogue onto the Scylla and Charybdis of gun owners as so many others have, full steam ahead, seahag.

The problem is that the R's don't appear to have any strategy as far as how they're conducted or what they hope to accomplish.

I think you are wrong about that. I would be shocked if Gowdy didn't have a strategy and more shocked if he leaked it.

Rush is talking about the DoJ's new alignment with the UN for a 'safe cities' initiative to save us from "extremists". They're zeroing in to the local level for even more control...

I wonder who the "extremists" represent to Loretta Lynch, Obama, et al. Hmmmm.

I hope you're right, Jane. It just chaps my ass that he has to head into the hearings after the McCarthy own goal.
