Politico on Trump and his colorful supporters:
Trump doesn't correct man who says Obama is Muslim
Confronted with a questioner who called Muslims a "problem" and asserted that President Obama is a Muslim and not American, Donald Trump did not correct him on Thursday night.
"We have a problem in this country, it’s called Muslims. Our current President is one. We know he’s not even an American,” said a questioner at a town hall in New Hampshire. “We have training camps growing where they want to kill us. That’s my question, when can we get rid of them?”
“A lot of people are saying that and a lot of people are saying that bad things are happening out there. We’re going to be looking at that and a lot of different things,” Trump responded.
Politico on Hillary's colorful supporters:
Republicans knock Clinton for laughing at Fiorina 'strangle' comment
Republicans denounced Hillary Clinton Tuesday after the Democratic front-runner laughed when an audience member told her he wanted to strangle Carly Fiorina every time he sees her on television.
“Every time I see her on TV, I want to reach through and strangle her,” the audience member said, after describing how he was laid off from Hewlett-Packard during Fiorina’s tenure as CEO. “I know that doesn’t sound very nice,” he continued.
“I wouldn’t mess with you,” Clinton responded, laughing along with the audience at a veterans roundtable event in New Hampshire.

Like jimmyk and Drj, I put more value in the discipline, the venue of the study and the results of the study as it applies to problems and solutions.
Jack,
Richard Feynman did a great section in one of his books on the importance of reproducing experiments, but googling for that i come upon this bit from him that shows the problem started in the Social Sciences by at least the late 40's:
Richard Feynman on reproducibility in science:
"When I was at Cornell, I often talked to the people in the psychology department. One of the students told me she wanted to do an experiment that went something like this--it had been found by others that under certain circumstances, X, rats did something, A. She was curious as to whether, if she changed the circumstances to Y, they would still do A. So her proposal was to do the experiment under circumstances Y and see if they still did A.
I explained to her that it was necessary first to repeat in her laboratory the experiment of the other person--to do it under condition X to see if she could also get result A, and then change to Y and see if A changed. Then she would know that the real difference was the thing she thought she had under control.
She was very delighted with this new idea, and went to her professor. And his reply was, no, you cannot do that, because the experiment has already been done and you would be wasting time. This was in about 1947 or so, and it seems to have been the general policy then to not try to repeat psychological experiments, but only to change the conditions and see what happens."

TC,
Instapundit's column last week in the USA Today was advice to the Koch Brothers to quit screwing around donating to campaigns and instead buying some big media outlets if they really wanted to effect change in this country. Glenn Reynolds: Advice for Charles & David Koch - buy newspapers
...if you want to affect politics in the United States — especially if you’re a conservative or a libertarian — you can get a lot more bang for your buck by getting involved in media, which right now is pretty much a left-leaning Democrat monoculture, as the recent CNBC debate foofaraw illustrates.

That's great advice from Professor Reynolds, daddy. Imagine if since 2009 the, say, American Independence Network were on the air. In addition to its many other beneficial features, the network would have a great source of regular commentators from the blogs (JOM, Insty, PJ Media, et al).

the problem is the LA Times, the Tribune, the Sun Unsensible, the Graham Post, all have been put out of reach, of center right elements, and Conrad Black is the lesson, if they do happen to acquire,

FWIW,
Hewitt's 2005 book "BLOG", mentions PowerLine Blog dozens of times, and says they are all part of "The Northern Alliance", which includes Lileks, Captain's Quarters, SCLU Scholars, Shot In The Dark, Spitbull, and Frater's Libertas.
Then in the next sentence Hewitt says this:
Also keep in mind that newcomers with talent find their sites are quickly mentioned and adopted, with staggering amounts of traffic as a result. Ed Morrisey's Captain's Quarters and the group blog Polipundit earned large followings during election 2004, as did INDC Journal, BeldarBlog, Ann Althouse, and Tom McGuire's JustOneMinute.
Hewitt's book mentions "Blog Swarms" over MSM stories (RatherGate, etc) so TM's paste of Hewitt's comments from early 2005 are no outlier, just as TM indicated on the previous post.

Nice weather today. I haven't been in Milwaukee, but hear there is a Bucks game tonight as well as some musical show. Ticket holders are supposed to be in their seats by 5:30. I was in Brookfield, normal day there. I think Rubio was in Waukesha yesterday, and Rubio and JEB both tried to get Walker's support today. Right now I'm home on the farm... so the debate might as well be on the moon.

THis is interesting - http://diplopundit.net/2015/11/10/ops-center-watch-logs-from-night-of-benghazi-say-who-was-running-statedept/
"We do not think that there was a conspiracy not to save our people under attack in Benghazi but we are curious on who was running the State Department as events unfolded in Benghazi. And why was the main official handling diplomatic security not shown in these logs? Is that indicative of just how little influence diplomatic security professionals actually have in a crisis like this? No? What’s that?"

Posted by: Jane | November 10, 2015 at 07:05 PM
Huckabee: Criticizes our bad Tax code. Says that Christy was exactly right on his comments.
Positive comments. Says he eliminates the IRS if we can get a Fair Tax system.
Decent applause.

Question: "Whats wrong with the Obama jobs record?
Santorum: Doesn't seem to be answering the question. He's talking about jobs available but nobody is filling the, Say we need to institute a Flat Tax, a Tax Code, but say we have to train people for these jobs. Says we need people to go to work and it;s wrong to think everybody has to go to college.
Posted by: daddy | November 10, 2015 at 07:08 PM
I think we are talking about tax plans. Huckabee says the Govt has no business knowing how much money we make.
Okay, I'm down with that.
Santorum- don't care. 250,000 welder jobs open in America - and he wants a 20% flat tax. Suspend all Obama regulations that cost over 100k. Employ people out of HS.
Jindahl: high unemployment rate in LA. We have more people working than ever before . "The reality is" (I hate that phrase) The most important thing we have to do is cut the government economy so we can increase the real economy.
Posted by: Jane | November 10, 2015 at 07:10 PM
To Jundal: You have big unemployment. Can you improve that?
Jindal: Yes, I can create good manufacturing jobs in Louisiana.
The most important thing we have to do is cut the Government economy so we can grow the private economy. We are on the path to Socialism right now. Obama has given us record numbers of people on welfare. We have to beat Hillary, shrink the govt and grow the economy.
Posted by: daddy | November 10, 2015 at 07:10 PM

Posted by: narciso | November 10, 2015 at 07:10 PM
Th Chrities: The Dem's are offering free stuff. You're not offering free stuff as a republican
Christy: They will have to raise taxes to 70 or 80 percent to pay for all that stuff the Dem's promised at the last debate.
Do you trust the Govt to do things correct? I don't. Hillary does. We need to get the govt the hell out of the way and let there Amrican people win once again
Posted by: daddy | November 10, 2015 at 07:12 PM
The fundamental issue is shrinking the govt. (I love Jindahl).
Christie: How do you fight all the free stuff. (Great question)
Christie: "Yeah sure" they forgot to tell you they will raise taxes to 70-80%, Do you want government to control your life? Hillary thinks she can make better decisions for your life than you. (YAY!!!!Christie)

To Santorum:
A single mom gets $30,000 free sitting at home. How to make her get up and go to work?
Santorum: We have to change the Tax Code, because you are right, if you go back to work under the tax code today you lose money (I think that's what he said)
We have to make it advantageous to rebuild the 2 parent family and stop incentives for single parent families
Posted by: daddy | November 10, 2015 at 07:13 PM
Santorum: How do you convince people to go to work and give up benefits. (Great questions so far)
Tax code. We have incentivized people not to marry because they will lose welfare benefits. (YEAH!) We need to remove incentives.
Huckabee, you have said entitlement change is political suicide. Huckabee says he is talking about welfare not social security. Earned benefits are not the same. And you shouldn't pay for the government's mistakes.
blah blah blah.
Posted by: Jane | November 10, 2015 at 07:15 PM
Where are you daddy?
Posted by: Jane | November 10, 2015 at 07:16 PM
To Huckabee; Are our social welfare programs creating a culture of dependency and if so how do we fix it?
Huck: Says that the govt takes your SSN money from your paycheck and you shouldn't be punished if they mis-spent it. Says that the poor haven't benefitted. Says we have a system that is bad. Says welfare reform in the 90's was the Amrican way and we ned to do that sort of model again
Posted by: daddy | November 10, 2015 at 07:16 PM
Jindahl. Republicans have 32 of 50 states. Why can't you win the presidency.
We lose nationally because we try and be cheaper versions of the democrats. YEAH! I did it. Senators suck you need a governor.
Posted by: Jane | November 10, 2015 at 07:17 PM
Huckabee: I cut things too.
Posted by: Jane | November 10, 2015 at 07:18 PM
Jindahl decimates Huckabee.
Posted by: Jane | November 10, 2015 at 07:19 PM
To Jundal:
Are Dems' putting forward a better model than Repubs now?
Jundal: Now we are putting forward in DC from the repubs the same thing as the Dems so there's almost no difference in DC. We have Senators who go to DC who never cut. Makes a sour joke about toilets flushing which get an ewe. Lets cut govt spending and grow the economy.
Huck steps in to rebut saying that he cut stuff in his state. Says it's not accurate for Jindal to say the others up here have not cut stuff.
Jindal cross rebuts and says how much stuff in Arkansas went up under Huckabee. Wanting to cut and cutting are a difference in facts.
Posted by: daddy | November 10, 2015 at 07:19 PM
Christie, defends Huckabee and says Hillary is the enemy.
Posted by: Jane | November 10, 2015 at 07:20 PM
Very good debate so far. Great questions.
Posted by: Jane | November 10, 2015 at 07:21 PM
Niot to Christy, and I think he's going to go after Jindal also.
Christy: if you think that Huck won't cut back spending, or Jindal or Kasich, we better stay focused on Hillary because she's going to explode the size of govt. Big applause.
Now specifics about his plan. Says on day 1 of his presidency no more Regulations for the 1st hundred days. Says we are drowning. Dont worry about buck or Jindal, worry about her.
Good applause.
My take so far is Huck and Christy or doing well. Christy probably at the top. Santorum is already forgettable to me and Jindal made enemies on the stage of Huck and Christy which I think buries him.

Kiwi calls.
Posted by: Jane | November 10, 2015 at 07:26 PM
To Santorum: Yoiu opposed the bailout of the automakers?was that the right solution?
Santorum: Absolutely: it would have survived thru the bankruptcy process. We have an economy right now that is choking. We need a level playing field for manufacturing. I support the Ex-Im bank. everybody else up here is against it. The Ex-Im bank means jobs for Americans here. We have a right to compete against other countries.

Huck The idea that we're going to open our doors without knowing who these guys are? something like only 1 of 5 Syrians who are flooding Europe are actually Syrians. If we have so many homeless as we supposedly have, why bring them here.Lets ask the Saudi's to take them Applause.

Christy: Lets remember that the reason China is clobbering and stealing from us is because elf feckless Obama band feckless Hillary. This Pres has done not one thing. If I'm Prez, if they cyberwar against us, I'll cyberwar against them big time.
And they're building those islands in the Sea. I'll fly Air Force 1 over those islands yo show we mean business.

Jindal: This trade Deal is 6000 pages long. Lets read it before we vote for it. I don't trust this Pres to do deals.
Jindal sites Christy failures in New Jersey on jobs and credit ratings. Wr can't send failures to DC lets elect a Conservative, not just any Republican
Christy rebuts; In New Jersey they call me a lot but not a Liberal. Me and Jindal have differences, but we need to talk about what will happen if we have another 4 years of Obama's policies pushed by Hillary Clinton.
Jindal rebuts rebur. records matter. You expanded foodstamps and you caved in to Obamacare. This is important. Do we want to grow dependence on Govt or not? We from the economy by cutting and you haven't done that.
Christy: I praised Jindal. I've cut spending. We have reduce the number of State employees the people out there care about Hillary
Jindal Trys to rebut, buit is stopped
Posted by: daddy | November 10, 2015 at 07:36 PM
To Jindal: What specifically makes your plan to replace Obamacare better than Obamacare
Jindal: Others talk about it. Only Jeb has a plan and it creates a new entitlement. My plan doesn't. I refused to expand ObamaCare. I like Chris Christy, but this is about our different plans, about cutting spending, not talking about cutting spending.
Christy rebuts taking air again at Hillary saying she will nationalize the Health care system . She is the target we have to attack.
Posted by: daddy | November 10, 2015 at 07:38 PM
What will you do about Obamacare, Jindahl?
I get rid of Obamacare, my plan is online, and I'm the only one who has refuse to expand Obamacare. This is the most important election in our lifetime. We changed nothing and we need results. Offers Christie a juice box.
Christie raises Hillary (smart) says she will bring us to single payer. We need someone who knows how to beat democrats (dead horse)

Who do you admire most on the democrat side?
Jindahl: Waste of time and a silly question. I'd fire everyone. Term limits.
Huckabee diverts to the VA.
Christie: I hate that the dems don't stand with the police.
Santorum: Get fed gvt out of infrastructure. I respect democrats because they fight and don't back down.
Posted by: Jane | November 10, 2015 at 07:44 PM
Who in Congress do you most admire on the Dem side?
Jindal: Thats a silly question. lets fire everybody in DC
Huck: Tomorrow is Veteran's Day. The VA is a disaster, and the current Prez has not tried to fix it.
Christy: The thing that disturbs me the most is that the Dem's are not standing behind our Police Officers Applause!
Santorum: WE need to get the Fed Govt out of the Infrastructure business. I respect the den party because they stand up and fight. They are not afraid to take it to us.
So nobody answered the question. I enjoyed that quick bit which allowed each guy to extrapolate and say what they wanted. Bye. Dogs.

Christie: 8-28%. Gets rid of deductions and loopholds except mortgage and charity.
Jindahl: 2%, 10% 25%. Everyone should pay something. And republicans have out of control spending too.
Huckabee: Fair tax.

Posted by: Buckeye | November 10, 2015 at 07:54 PM
Huckabee: Why wouldn't the fair tax discourage spending?
No americans will not stop spending. We have a 22% embedded tax. And they can buy used stuff.
Jindahl: You want to eliminate corporate tax, why? Most corp's don't pay taxes anyway. We need to stop government spending. We have more inequality. We can't keep spending money we don't ahve. We are stealing from our children. (He talks too fast)
