Yesterday it was raining. I went out and shook my fist at the sky. Fiercely! Today it is sunny and beautiful. You're welcome, fellow New Englanders.
Our President seems to have a comparably unsettled relationship with reality. Here he is after the Colorado Springs shooting:
Obama Says ‘Enough Is Enough’ After Colorado Shooting
By JONATHAN MARTIN NOV. 28, 2015
President Obama responded angrily on Saturday to the mass shooting that took three lives, including that of a police officer, at a Planned Parenthood facility in Colorado Springs over the Thanksgiving holiday, calling the country’s recurring outbreaks of gun violence “not normal.”
“We can’t let it become normal,” Mr. Obama said in a statement. “If we truly care about this — if we’re going to offer up our thoughts and prayers again, for God knows how many times, with a truly clean conscience — then we have to do something about the easy accessibility of weapons of war on our streets to people who have no business wielding them. Period. Enough is enough.”
Enough is enough! The President is going to act! By heavens, it's time for leadership!
Well, Obama actually agrees - it is time for leadership. Just not his:
Without calling explicitly for new laws, Mr. Obama invoked the name of the slain police officer, from the University of Colorado’s Colorado Springs campus, to plead with leaders to show the will to address such shootings.
"Plead with leaders"? Damn right - get the President on the line! Oh, wait...
Angela Merkel is tied up with the refugee debacle, so she can't help. Putin doesn't really seem like a gun control guy. I wonder who will help him here?
Wouldn't want to defend ourselves against 65,000 military aged single men hand selected by the UN to divert the worst cases across an ocean from Europe. Nope. That would be what ISIS wants.

Yes Dems! Keep on riding those corpses to political oblivion.

then we have to do something about the easy accessibility of weapons of war on our streets to people who have no business wielding them
So he emptied the prisons onto the streets to have even more people who have no business wielding firearms (except wielding firearms is their day job when not in prison).

If one has a chance to see it I recommend watching The Spy Masters on Showtime.
Mandy Patinkin of Homeland fame is the narrator and does a pretty good job except when he makes the statement that hundreds of thousands Iraqi civilians were killed during that war from '03 on.

How were these shooters raised?...was there a father at home? Did the family go to church?
Was there a history of drug use? Were they into depraved sexual fantasies?
THis latest guy was torturing animals...there's a big WARNING sign, right there.

The weapon used seems like just the last piece in a long, complicated life puzzle.
Maybe the "what wasn't in their lives" is just as important as "what was in their lives".

Yes it was pretty good, I missed that part and they swelled too much on the pre 9/11 warnings.
So there is this big piece in today's Carlos slims about the caliphate growth in libya, which leaves out the fact that branch kbl was the one

I think Obama is destroying the Democratic party brand.
He no longer needs to concern himself with re-election, and is spending his last months in office pushing every progressive idea as hard as he can, with every power not denied him. Gun control has long been recognized by the Democratic party professionals as an issue that can only harm them, yet Obama will not leave it alone. Or 'climate change', or gender issues, or racial conflicts, all the rest.
I think the majority of the electorate will experience this as Obama doing things that make their lives harder, more unpleasant or more dangerous.
That the Democrats continue to support him means that it's not just him that has to go. In their minds, these are not just acts of Obama's, they are Democrat party policies.

Does that "something" include invoking executive privilege when your Attorney General refuses to explain to congress how one of his guns ended up on Brian Terry's street in the hands of an illegal alien who had no business wielding it.

Apparently Fournier was pushing the insane notion that Trump's lies are more outrageous than Hillary's. So a private citizen exaggerating or misconstruing a news report from 14 years ago is much worse than a Secretary of State deliberately constructing a false narrative about a terrorist attack that killed 4 Americans. Not to mention all her other lies, too numerous to list.
Posted by: jimmyk | November 29, 2015 at 01:23 PM
Art in Newport,
I'm not sure the continuing flatulent emissions by President Petulant Poopyhead are doing much additional damage to the Fascist brand. He used to be able to increase gun sales every time he appeared but the effect has diminished as his manifest incompetence continues to be displayed on a daily basis.
Further damage to the Fascists will be caused by the continuing failure of BOzocare and a very weak economy.
Posted by: Rick Ballard | November 29, 2015 at 01:30 PM
jimmyk,
I caught part of that this morning. Fournier is such an annoyance, but I follow him because he shows up on Fox once in a while and I want to let him know he isn't fooling me with his "impartial" act.

On a different topic, the Giants-Redskins game is very upsetting. Every break and bounce sodas is going the 'Skins way. I feel that the football gods are against the Giants this week, and frankly after the Pats game I figured we were owed some really good luck instead.

Unbelievable. TD to criminal punk Deshaun Jackson, right after our best DB goes out with an injury. And after refs don't call a potential late hit that should have extended the Giants drive. And we lost another o-lineman, too. Giants are just cursed today. F**k this game.

Rick - Fair enough. Much damage has already been done, as demonstrated by the election of 2016.

I feel your pain. I was a lifelong Giant's fan from the Robestli, Huff, Tunnell and Tittle days. Then when I got out of the service and moved to my first civie job in Southarn Maryland I became a Skins fan since all the crafts I was working with were either Skins or Colts guys.
So, why not just go with your current envirornment. Can't be any worse. They are both undeserving of being anywhere near a playoff position:)
Will save the rest of the comment for a rendition of HTTR since they are in scoring position.

Oops, reposted from the dead thread:
I got my .410 "rifle" when I was six and used it until I inherited my dad's Auto 5 12ga. You old timers probably remember when Stevens brought out their camp gun, the .22/.410 over/under. It had rifle sights, so I shot it like a rifle. Not only that, but my dad gave me one box of shells per season, so I was Mr Careful choosing my shots. Closer to deer hunting than bird hunting.
When I started shooting skeet, I broke in with the Auto 5 with a new Jap bbl with screw-in chokes. That was too easy, so moved to 20ga. That seems just right, but don't get much practice on our rock out here.
Tuning: tracked down an old timer on Flathead Lake who tuned up a lot of world champs. (Guns to shooter.) My Guerini took the slightest cant tweak, but Mrs MT's Baretta took a new chunk of burled walnut carved from scratch. That's essentially mandatory for ladies for overall body size and shoulder drop.

Already controversial in Europe, especially Germany: Time to Come Home
http://www.standaard.be/cnt/dmf20151129_01995533
Watch the video.
For those who can't read Dutch or German, here is the story.
Year after year, the grandpa, father, patriarch has to eat alone at Christmas because the kids, all professional and busy send regrets. Again, this year, sorry can't make it. He sends out a death notice and they all come home.
When he sees them he says, "It was only way to get you to come home".
Sort of burning right through a lot of German families right now. BTW, that is a German supermarket firm who sponsors the TV ad.

I do think Obama has the potential to utilize his Merde Touch again next summer by whipping the Free Shit Army to new depths, alienating more whites and making it much easier for Hispanics to indulge in their inclination to vote for the first Hispanic candidate. I just believe the Obamacare stumble out and crash will have a greater impact upon those gullible and credulous enough to believe they were voting themselves a free lunch. It will also continue to have an impact upon the 20 million potential new voters who will be eligible to vote against a Democrat for the first time in '16 (about 5 million will actually vote).

I presume you're referring to their comments on the Colorado shooter. Why can't these candidates resist taking the MFM's bait? How hard is it simply to say, "My prayers for the victims and their families. At this point we don't know anything about the motivation or mindset of the shooter, so it would be inappropriate to do as the President, Democrats, and Planned Parenthood officials have done, and exploit this tragedy for political purposes, or even to comment on any political implications."

Ted Cruz did. I saw his post on Twitter. However, since none of the lefties follow him they probably didn't know, since it doesn't get reported by the media.
I saw that Amanda Carpenter was quoted in some article whining that other candidates didn't "speak out" about the shooting.
Oh, here it is...
https://www.yahoo.com/politics/the-shooting-at-planned-parenthood-put-gop-2016-203438711.html
Carpenter is a righty blogger who worked for Cruz for awhile. I like her a lot. I really have always like her a lot.
But it's whining here and I think the idea that R candidates need "to speak out" on this is ludicrous. I mean, if they "need" to it's only because the left/MSM is going to relentlessly call for it . . . and those on the right don't need to feed that narrative.
