Arrests have been made in the Burlington, MA mosque vandalzation that I mentioned in the previous thread. I looked up the suspects; one of them has some pro-Trump and anti-Carson and anti-Clinton stuff mixed in his Twitter timeline along with a bunch of hip-hop and wrestling nonsense. Now the progturds will use guilt-by-association to smear anyone who doesn't sufficiently denounce Trump.

"Naturally, I am left wondering whether that is because there was no difference in gender trends, or because such a finding might not advance any appropriate narrative. That said, "White Lives Matter (and may be less privileged than you think)" is transgressive enough."

I'm going to make a bold prediction: When the gender numbers are uncovered, males will be driving this mortality rate rise.

henry

TC, I agree with your prediction. I would add the heavy toll of job losses on that demographic since the 2007-9 recession have something to do with it.

The authors also note the grim prospects for Medicare, since this high-mortality group is part of the baby boom:
No, not really, the baby boom ended in 1965. That's some boomers and some busters.

Loss of contributions during peak earning years. Actually, loss of any portion of the most productive ethnic group screws up Medicare demographics.

Rocco, I read a report stating that Belichick would tick NFL folks off by following the letter of the injury report rule, resulting in Belichick having lots of Pats on the injury list who were clearly going to play. Thus, Belichick has been flamed both for allegedly breaking rules and for following rules too closely. But apparently the teams are now tending to follow the Belichick approach (although it looks as if the Colts made an exception in Luck's case).

Up here we had our first decent snowfall of Winter last night, and like everyone else we have to learn how to drive in Winter all over again.

I was snow shoveling and momma was off driving the dogs to and from the walk. She saw multiple accidents and just texted this local news story: Icy roads wreak havoc with 80-plus collisions; after-school activities canceled

Watch the video of the SUV rolling back down the hill backward.

When I live in the UP it was demolitiion derby first snowfall that tuns to ice on the roads. I watched a guy in Jeep doe a 360 comiung down the highway from Ishpeming to Marquette and never hit a damn thing, turn it around and drive off like it was an ordinary thing.

Nice try but no cigar, Lyle!

The settled Science says that Climate Change effects women worse than men: Climate change: Women more vulnerable to dangers of global warming than men, say leading academics

Not only do women typically suffer more than men in the kind of climate-related disasters likely to result from global warming – they are also far more vulnerable to the day-to-day impact of rising temperatures

OK, for discussion I'll buy that.

“If political leaders around the world are serious about gender equality, they must also get serious about climate change,” she added.

Then if White Males are suffering increased death rates, per TM's report, then I'm with this gal in the story---let's have more Climate Change since it negatively effects women and therefore will finally equal out the disparity in our society of women living longing than men. Bring on Climate Change!

daddy

Thought the panel was pretty lame today. But like this question to Newt from Gretta and especially Newt's fun response:

Gretta: What do you think of the CNBC Debate?

Newt: I thought if you had set up a group of Liberals to come out and be stupid, and said "Look at us, we're really biased, arrogant, and nasty," you could not have gotten a better performance.

Ha!

henry

Daddy, it is straight forward causality. Women suffer more from climate change because the live long enough to experience it... the men are dropping like flies in pre-change comfort.

I'm pretty sure that $43 million gas station in Afghanistan is a cove3r for pay offs DOD had to make. Just saying.

Clarice,

That makes sense to me. And just as a reminder of Military waste that I lay on Government--- our $78 Million Ice-braking Ferryboat. That was a joint Military/Civilian venture that as far as I can tell after years of following this thing was shoved down the Navy's throat.

According to an ADN story from 2 months back, the never used $78 Million Ferryboat was on the verge of being sold to the Philippines for $1.5 million, a loss of $76.5 Million to the Taxpayers, who funded this joint Military/Civilian prototype white elephant.

Here's the story in the ADN: Mat-Su on brink of selling never-used ferry to Philippine Red Cross

the 195-foot, twin-hulled barge with beach landing ability capable of breaking ice over its bow doesn’t even run: Heavy rains earlier this year damaged three of its four engines, and officials estimate repairs at around $1 million.

Most ferry-weary Assembly members said they were eager to get rid of the beleaguered “boat,” as some call it, and cut mounting losses while they could.

“We’ve got two choices: We either move ahead and have a buyer with a boat they know is going to get fixed or we allocate the money to just scrap this thing now

At least the Afghan gas station appears capable of pumping gas.

Personally I hope the ferryboat sale didn't go thru. The story has been worth easily a million more laughs than we're selling it for.

Dave (in MA)

Indy's really redeemed themselves in the 2nd half.

Kim,

Thanks for the steer on the previous thread to Judith Curry's article on islands actually growing and not sinking if sea levels rise:

Kiribati crisis: the blame game

I have long been a fan of Darwin's Coral Reef theory, which maintains that atolls will continue to grow above the level of the sea as it slowly rises, and it's good to see modern science agreeing with that assessment, regardless what the AGW proponents ignorantly "chicken little" about. Interesting how the Left in general regularly damns the Right for not fully buying into Darwin, yet when Darwin predicts something that turns out to go against their Global Warming BS they completely disregard him.

GUS

Daddy, NOTHING the COMMIE LEFT has claimed was going to come to pass has indeed happened.
At what point is a SCAM called A SCAM??

Dave (in MA)

Very entertaining game.

GUS

Great game. Indy played tough the last 25 minutes. Pagano is a poor coach. Indy took way way way too many risks, when being RISK averse was a better path in overtime.
Indy got their mojo, when they started running GORE a wee bit. The deflection and interception was a TURNOVER WAITING to happen.
Great game none the less.

Took the time to watch the video attached to this linked Christian Science Monitor story: Antarctica is actually gaining ice, says NASA. Is global warming over?

Some bits I transcribed from the video, titled "Scientists Scramble to Measure Climate Change in Antarctica:"

---"They've been collecting data for the past 8 years...it will take about 30 years before they can draw any conclusions."

That tells me the Science isn't Settled, or even close to being settled.

---"Here we can determine very clearly if Climate Change really does exist"...

How?

---"Last year we recorded a record low temperature of minus 93 degrees, almost 94. This is one example of Climate Change, but whether this is down to Natural Meteorological Cycles or because of Human Activity, well it's still too early to say."

Hmmm. This 2013 Guardian Story tells us a temp of -94.7 was recorded in Antarctica in 2010, and -92.9 in 2013. So how can a reading in 2014 of only -93 be a new record, and therefore an indication of Climate Change? Beats me. Sounds to me like ops normal, but what do I know.

This pro-Climate Change Research video makes no mention of the increase in Antarctica's total ice. Instead it finishes by saying that we have to do something immediately to combat Climate Change, whether it's real or not, because the IPCC says so. I'm surprised they didn't include the Spirit of Mawson to help scare us out of our wits:

Bonus question: has anyone seen the Mawson Expedition cheerleader Chris Turney lately, or has he completely dropped off the planet? According to this, I think he's selling T-Shirts.

More gender insanity. This story is happening in Illinois, but it's the same blackmailing that is happening in Fairfax County, Virginia.

http://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2015/11/office_of_civil_rights_says_disguised_boy_has_right_to_shower_with_girls.html

"The Education Department gave 30 days to the officials of Township High School District 211 to reach a solution or face enforcement, which could include administrative law proceedings or a Justice Department court action. The district could lose some or all of its Title IX funding.

In a letter sent Monday, the Office for Civil Rights of the Department of Education told the Palatine district that requiring a transgender student to use private changing and showering facilities was a violation of that student’s rights under Title IX, a federal law that bans sex discrimination. The student, who identifies as female but was born male, should be given unfettered access to girls’ facilities, the letter said."
