Fun Fact: On November 28, 1925 the first broadcast of the Grand Ole Opry aired live on the radio, under its original name the WSM Barn Dance. At the time, the show aired after an NBC radio program featuring opera and classical music. On December 10, 1927 host George Day opened the show by saying, "For the past hour, we have been listening to music taken largely from Grand Opera. From now on, we will present the 'Grand Ole Opry'."
The Grand Ole Opry is the longest-running radio broadcast in US history. Happy 90th birthday.
Neglected youts who go berserker that seems to be the pattern going back there years. The Walter Scott case was an exception, but only because the victim was meeting with said your.

Maurice Strong has died. For years I've speculated whether he was in China rightly advising them or being advised of his rights.

Going across Rt. 80 is pretty interesting because once you are west of the Delaware Water Gap you spend most of your time going through the sticks of Pennsyltucky where, if you see a truck or SUV parked at the side, there's probably deer hunting going on. At one point in the middle of the state, I looked off to the side and noticed a road visible through the bare trees climbing up the side of a hill and wondered "where can that possibly be going?"

One good thing about just traveling with CDs is they never tell you you're driving too fast as you're passing a line of semis with a 4x4 on your keister.

CH
I've made that drive many times. The stretch through NY is pretty scenic in places.
Use to cross the GW frequently. One time I saw a car get left near the bridge after a flat. I had to go back over the bridge about half a day later. Car was gutted.
da hood to be sure.

It looks like there will only be 78 6-win teams in Div 1 which means that at least 2, and maybe as many as 5, 5-win teams will be in bowl games. And people thought I was being too mean calling them BOD bowls.

Am confused about dates on this. I think writer has 1920's Ben Hur mixed up with 1950's Ten Commandments.
Posted by: Miss Marple 2 | November 28, 2015 at 10:50 PM
Yep, Ben hur wasn't set in egypt, if memory serves, save us from ignorant writers.
Posted by: buccaneer morgan | November 28, 2015 at 10:54 PM
buccaneer,
I even posted a comment on their web site correcting that. How hard is it to Google "Cecile B. DeMille Ten Commandments?"
Jeesh!

Syfy even has a d movie with a few actors from firefly covering that era, something about a mummy.

I just don't understand how a web site could make such a ridiculous error.
Maybe the writer is really young and thinks 1950's = 1920's.
Good grief!

Good Morning. CNN Inernational just did a weather report following a 5 minute segment on the Paris Climate Talks. They mentioned there will be 165,000 cops out in force and completely clobbering Paris traffic for days as the big shots arrive and roads are closed for Security. No mention of how much carbon is going to be burnt as a result of shutting down traffic for days.
The weather woman then put up a big graphic showing how many people have died as a result of Climate. Under Tropical Storms she listed 242,000 deaths. Under Temperature related deaths I think the number was 40,000. There were a few other Climate related blurbs and the amount of deaths they caused, but then she turned to the current US Weathermap and said there had already been 9 US deaths this winter related to winter freezing somewhere in the northeast.
So if you're not sufficiently scared to death yet of the menace of Climate Change, click on over to CNN. They'll probably run the same story a dozen more times today.
Posted by: daddy | November 29, 2015 at 12:33 AM
Sad that they're always whining about climate then they talk about weather. I know it's asking too much for them honest about the fearmongering.

Good morning from the dysfunctional east coast where here in The Hamptons we are 10 degrees above normal sitting at highs of mid 50's during the day. I saw people in shorts last evening for the Christmas Parade of Lights (fire trucks and Emergency vehicles all decked out) and the Christmas tree lighting.
